🪸 The Nassau Cruise Port in the Bahamas recently underwent a $300 million renovation, making it one of the most modern cruise terminals in the Caribbean. Here are the key features and facilities: ✋️ Berthing Capacity ☘️ Six Berths: The port can accommodate up to six large ocean ships simultaneously, including Oasis-class vessels (the largest cruise ships in the world).☘️ Deep-Water Access: Can handle mega-ships with deep drafts.🪸 Green Spaces & Promenades: Scenic walking areas with oceanfront views. 🪸 BEFORE YOU ENTER THE AREA, IT IS GOOD TO KNOW about Safety Issues. While Nassau is a popular cruise destination, it's important to be aware of certain safety concerns.✋️ Common Safety Concerns: ☘️ 1. Petty Crime – Pickpocketing, bag snatching, and scams can happen in busy tourist areas like the Straw Market, downtown Nassau, and near the cruise port. ☘️ 2. Violent Crime – While rare for tourists, gang-related violence and armed robberies have been reported in non-tourist areas. It’s best to avoid venturing too far off the beaten path, especially at night. ☘️ 3.Taxi Scams & Overcharging – Some taxi drivers may charge inflated rates. Always confirm the fare before getting in, as taxis in Nassau don’t use meters. ☘️ 4. Water Safety – Some beaches have strong currents and rip tides. Always check local warnings before swimming. ☘️ 5.Fake Tour Guides & Vendors – Be cautious of unofficial tour operators offering "special deals" that may be overpriced or unsafe. Stick to reputable companies. ✋️ Safety Tips for Tourists: ☘️ Stick to well-populated tourist areas. ☘️ Use hotel safes for valuables and avoid carrying large amounts of cash. ☘️ Avoid wearing flashy jewelry that might attract attention. ☘️ Use only licensed taxis or pre-arranged transportation. ☘️ Be cautious at night and avoid isolated areas. 🪸 Terminal & Passenger Facilities: ☘️ Modernized Arrival Terminal: A spacious terminal with customs and immigration services. ☘️ Dedicated Bus & Taxi Areas: For seamless transportation to local attractions & hotels. 🪸 Security Checkpoints: Enhanced safety and screening procedures for arriving and departing passengers. 🪸 Easy Access to Downtown Nassau: Just a short walk from popular attractions like the Straw Market,Queen’s Staircase,Parliament Square.🪸 Language – English is the official language, often spoken with a Bahamian accent and local slang.🪸 About the Locals: The people of Nassau, known as Bahamians, are generally welcoming and proud of their culture. Locals are known for their willingness to share their culture with visitors.🪸 Cultural Highlights: Music & Dance – Reggae, calypso, and Junkanoo rhythms are a big part of Bahamian culture. 🪸 Dining Areas. Restaurants & Bars: Offers waterfront dining options, from quick bites to fine dining. ✋️ Here’s a general idea of the price ranges for waterfront dining in Nassau: ☘️ Quick Bites & Casual Restaurants: $10 – $25 per person ☘️Mid-Range Restaurants:$25–$60 per pers ☘️ Fine Dining & Upscale Restaurants: $60 – $150+ per person ✋️ Drinks at bars typically range from: ☘️ Local Beers & House Cocktails: $6 – $12 ☘️ Premium Cocktails & Wine: $12 – $25 ☘️ High-end places with fresh seafood, steak, and fine wines can get quite expensive, especially in resort areas. 🪸 Shopping: Near the Cruise Port terminal, you'll find a variety of local shops offering traditional souvenirs, handmade goods, and locally crafted products. For example,I'll just mention one popular spot - "Straw Market"- located a short walk from the port. What to Find: A wide array of handmade Bahamian crafts, including straw bags, hats, jewelry, wood carvings, and trad. souvenirs. Items can range from $8 to $50 and much more, depending on size and craftsmanship. A local driver told visitors that they could haggle to get a better price, especially for handmade goods.I noticed that negotiating prices made local salespeople angry.I heard them screaming and cursing at shoppers. 🪸 Evening at the Cruise Terminal: There was a beautiful sunset and a magnificent view as large ocean ships left the cruise terminal.

Everything that you could want to see, do and buy is immediately outside the terminal. Shops, restaurants, art, souvenirs, taxis - and you can buy every available excursion for less than you pay on the ships. Walk around downtown Nassau to see the historical buildings, window shop and have some great local food. It's worth it to see the whole island but you won't be mad at yourself if you spend your day within walking distance of the terminal.

I feel safe in the terminal and port. I feel safe in the Market area. Guards do pay attention and have rules for everyone to follow.

The Nassau Cruise Port, situated on New Providence Island in the Bahamas, is a popular destination for cruise travelers visiting the Caribbean. Recently renovated, this terminal is now a vibrant, welcoming gateway that accommodates some of the world’s largest cruise ships, including those from Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Disney Cruise Line. With its beautiful setting along Nassau’s historic waterfront, the port offers travelers a seamless transition from ship to shore, with a wealth of activities and amenities right at their fingertips. The revamped Nassau Cruise Port features modernized facilities designed to enhance the passenger experience. The terminal itself includes a spacious welcome area, easy-to-navigate pathways, and plenty of signage, ensuring smooth entry and exit. The terminal also offers duty-free shopping and restaurants, so travelers can enjoy local cuisine or pick up souvenirs without having to venture far from the port. Additionally, a new entertainment plaza within the port area often hosts live performances, adding a lively atmosphere to the arrival experience. One of the highlights of Nassau Cruise Port is its close proximity to Nassau’s top attractions. Just a short walk from the terminal, visitors can explore the vibrant downtown area, with its colorful colonial architecture, shops, and local markets. For those interested in Bahamian history and culture, the nearby Pirates of Nassau Museum and Queen’s Staircase offer an immersive look into the island’s past. Beaches like Junkanoo Beach are also within walking distance, allowing travelers to dive straight into the island’s turquoise waters and relax on its sandy shores. Overall, the Nassau Cruise Port combines convenience with a taste of Bahamian charm. Whether visitors are looking for shopping, sightseeing, or beach relaxation, this cruise terminal serves as an ideal starting point for experiencing the beauty and culture of the Bahamas.

This place can handle a ton of ships which means there’s going to be a lot of people. However, it’s very easy to get on and off the ship here and the walk is not terrible. There seems to be shuttles for people with limited mobility and a lot of it is covered. This is our second time here and both times have been very easy. A lot of the excursions you catch directly from the dock. You don’t even have to walk down the dock they meet you at the base of your ship. This place was fun just to walk around. Our second time here we did not book an excursion. We just walked out of the dock to the right and went to Margaritaville where we swam on the beach for free and did not pay for a chair. This is not my favorite port however, the new updated area is beautiful.

Some of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen, I remember going at least once and checking out Atlantis, make sure to take the $7 boat ride over there and if you want a taxi don't take the first price they give you as you can probably bring it way down, some will even do it for $3 per person so just make sure you know what you are doing, otherwise I'm sure you'll have a great time especially sense you are probably on a cruise
