The Best Salads in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"The rustic dining room at Nate’s Garden Grill is often filled with City Heights regulars enjoying live music, loaded sandwiches, and hearty salads. Located next to San Diego’s largest organic nursery, this spot doesn’t cut corners when it comes to fresh ingredients. House-mixed greens are served with a choice of lemon garlic vinaigrette or house-made ranch, with optional add-ons like Jidori chicken or organic tempeh. For something more indulgent, try the house-made crab cakes over a bed of kale and radicchio, topped with capers, pickled red onions, and Parmesan—best paired with a glass of house-brewed root beer." - Kelly Bone

Had high expectations and they were surpassed! Super popular for a reason. Great menu, priced well, lots of drink options, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. Friendly folk who work hard to take care of folks. Live music. The vibes can’t be beat. Perfect pairing with a visit to City Farmers Nursery. Had lunch but will return for breakfast no doubt!

Love the feel of the outdoorsy vibe with live music! 🎶 The food was great! Loved the happy hour and yummy flatbread options. The chicken and tri tip were delicious along with the chili bowl in the side with cornbread! So fun to go for a game night and support friends!

Google
Biased review warning! I've been performing here for 8 years, it has the best food ever! Amazing service, killer music...if I do say so myself lol nothing not to like! Have a mimosa, the pulled pork benedict, walk around the nursery and call yourself me lol Love this place, it's a gem in the heart of the city🤘🤘🤘

We love coming here. We stumbled across this little gem a few years ago, and now its our favorite place to go for brunch! Amazing food, atmosphere and service.

Google
Amazing place with live music! Loved their crab cakes, and Nate's burger with some craft beer. Nice selection of craft beer and wine. The vibe of the place is great as well! Lots of locals with kids and pets who come to listen to some good music. Definitely recommend!!!

Google
This place makes you forget that you are in the city. Nice country/farm style eatery next to an amazing plant nursery with donkeys, goats, rabbits and chickens. I got the pulled pork sandwich which tastes very fresh and a potato salad which also tasted fresh and tasty. I also purchased a leftover biscuit from the breakfast menu and it made me want to come back just to get breakfast one day. There is a small free parking lot and some free parking. The place is kid and wheel chair friendly.

Google
Thank you SO SO SO MUCH for offering vegan items! Not only that but going above and beyond and offering tempeh (and not just some cop out beyond burger). My partner and I went to City Farmers one morning (stunning shop) and found this surprise along the way. We impulsively decided to hang out, eat, and enjoy the music. It was a wonderful morning.

Google
Located on Euclid Avenue in San Diego, CA beside City Farmer’s Nursery, Nate’s offers a variety of menu options. On Saturday and Sundays they have a brunch selection on the menu. We ordered take out French Toast Platter and Crab Cakes Benedict. We enjoyed our meals. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have inside and patio seating.

Yelp
Nate's feels like one of those hidden gems you're lucky to stumble upon. Our must-haves? The tri-tip breakfast tacos (so good), the biscuits, and--because why not--the brownie to top it off. Everything always tastes amazing, fresh, and satisfying. The staff is always so nice, friendly, and welcoming--it really adds to the charm of the place. Plus, we love walking it off afterward by exploring the nursery next door. Great food, great people, and a perfect weekend outing. Highly recommend

Yelp
A couple weeks ago, I went to Nate's Garden Grill with a couple of friends as a birthday celebration for one of them, and just to spend an afternoon together. I was drawn to Nate's Garden Grill because they have an extensive music calendar, and because they have outdoor seating. It was an unexpected surprise when I found they were attached to a nursery. We ended up spending a long, leisurely afternoon/evening at Nate's. We were probably there from 2:30 until almost 8:00, though made a short shopping trip to the nursery partway through. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was that it was very rustic, almost like a log cabin. The outdoor area is small with a very small stage. It was dog and family friendly. The indoor area is also quaint, but with bright murals. Staff was really friendly and had no problem with us hanging around all day. It was cool to see that they had a variety of mimosas and sangrias by the carafe. However, we chose to drink wine. They had decent bottles that were only $20, which is very reasonable for a restaurant. My friends and I shared the pesto flatbread. My friend and I also shared the black bean burger and a side of potato salad. My other friend ordered grilled cheese. She wanted fries, but unfortunately they don't have a fryer. So, she also had the potato salad. My favorite thing I ate there was the black bean burger. I would definitely order that again. I enjoyed the band that played from 6-8. They were entertaining, but also were not so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. Also, the staff brought my friend a free brownie sundae for her birthday which was very kind. It was really a great time!

Yelp
Nate's achieves the trifecta gold with delicious food, friendly service and entertaining live music. We visited on a busy Sunday (late) morning. We were a party of 10 and though we were not able to sit together we were able to split up among two tables. Hamburgers were amazing and my hamburger loving teen was beyond impressed. I also found the non alcoholic kombucha smooth and delightful! Live music was lovely and we were still able to have a conversation while musicians were performing.
google avatar

Marjon F.

Yelp
My friend invited me to the nursery next door for a mocktail class they were featuring. We decided to stop here for brunch afterwards. She comes here often with her husband. It's such a cute spot for brunch, classic and traditional breakfast favorites accompanied by Live music! The band is really amazing and added so much fun to the brunch experience. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area.

Yelp
I've been going to the nursery for years but just checked out the cafe for the first time. The atmosphere was rustic and comfortable, and the food was good. They have live music most evenings, and a good selection of local draft beer. It's counter serve, but the staff came and checked on us when they got a chance, which is counter serve done right.

Yelp
Do you want to be transformed out of the city and into a cozy, friendly cafe with great service and live music on the wooden porch, with great vibes and a varied menu with local brews (both of the beer and coffee variety)? Nate's a magical, sweet, fun and darling place that makes you feel like you know a secret spot in the city. I cannot wait to go back.

Yelp
There's no way this place deserves anything less than five stars. It's a charming café located next to a beautiful nursery--with a few adorable animals like donkeys, chickens, and turtles adding to the magic. The nursery itself is so calming, I could've spent hours just wandering around. They have a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants, and the entire space feels like a peaceful escape. The café has a gorgeous vintage cottage vibe, filled with antique pieces that give it so much character--even the bathroom had a cute antique mirror that caught my eye. The food was delicious and freshly made. Portions were just right and very reasonably priced. I ordered the breakfast plate, which came with two slices of toasted sourdough and the most delicious mashed potatoes I've ever had. You can choose to sit inside or outside and enjoy their live music. Their house blend coffee was freshly brewed and self-serve, which added a cozy, homey feel. And the best part? The staff. They were so warm and friendly that it honestly felt like visiting a friend's home, where someone is happily making you a delicious meal. I think I just found my new favorite spot for breakfast!

Yelp
This place is very near my house, and is truly a gem! Live music and the service combined with the local feel made this place unmatched. Extra bonus for the nursery next door, took a little walk around and saw the cute farm animals. Recommend the sauerkraut sandwich. Weird combo, but had great flavor.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little spot! I came right at opening so plenty of parking and seats. It I'd kind of hidden. Food was good but nothing so amazing. They had a dinner outside so that was nice for the ambience. Plenty of indoor seating and love the purse hooks on the booths. I'd come back. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich which was In between a pretzel bun which I enjoyed. I really liked the vegan potato salad. Service was whatever but I mean we only ordered at the front and they brought the food out to us.

Yelp
Nate's is next to the City Farms Nursery. You're greeted by a small country feeling ambiance and very polite workers. On the outside patio they have live music to enjoy while eating your meal. I went for brunch and got the French toast with eggs and potatoes. The breakfast potatoes come as mashed potatoes that ate griddled. It wasn't my favorite since it was very salty. I also got a homemade biscuit and jam that was very good. Crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside.

Yelp
EVERYTIME, IT'S ALWAYS THE BEST! I love the Crab Eggs Benedict. Had it 3 times ever and always great. Live Music Wednesdays through Sundays. Bluegrass, Blues, and always great musicians. Staff are all hippies, so this is my kinda place. Great Beer, get the red ale

Yelp
All I can say is FREAKING AMAZING!!! Who would have thought off the beaten Home Avenue road there would be this cute little eatery with AWESOME staff!! The food was AMAZING! I had the pulled pork hash and my sister had the steak and eggs...the poached eggs were perfectly done and the pulled pork and steak was really good also!! They had live music...a folk singer and she was really good! Love the vibe of this place! Super cute and definitely coming back to try everything on the menu!!

Yelp
Nate's Garden Grill ladies and gentlemen. This place is legit. The inside is super cool and rustic vibey. The menu is awesome. I had the chicken Cobb which was FIRE. Tasted very fresh and came out super fast. I have nothing but a good taste in my mouth leaving that establishment. Well done Nate's Garden. You have yourself a hidden gem in the city heights area. Cheers!

Yelp
They served homemade biscuits with delicious jelly, and the staff couldn't have been sweeter. Despite the busy crowd, they were attentive and welcoming. The on-site nursery was beautiful, featuring well-cared-for animals and a great selection of reasonably priced plants. Everyone we spoke to was knowledgeable and eager to help. Overall, a truly wonderful experience.

Yelp
The live music was awesome but the food wasn't great. My steak was raw and I asked for medium. My friend got a burger and it was burned along with the under side of the bun. Parking was also very difficult. I would not come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Nate's Garden Grill is such a cozy, peaceful spot--great food, great vibes. I had the pulled pork hash and a fresh biscuit with jam, and both were amazing. The outdoor garden seating makes it feel like a little escape, and the live music is the perfect touch. A must-visit if you're in San Diego! Service always on point!

Yelp
Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. Coincidentally, we all ordered something w pulled pork in it (sandwich, plate, and egg benedict). The Breakfast Plate w upgrade of biscuit and jam was great too. Love that they have a covered outdoor patio and frequently have live music. It's order at the counter and seat yourself so NO reservations. Makes it a little harder for large groups. It is a little warm indoors on a warm day even with ceiling fans though. Parking is limited in their lot so you may have to park on the street. Check out the unique plant nursery next door which has farm animals too! Yelp
We went here a year ago and enjoyed everything that we ordered because it was so homemade, and the food was truly cared about. This time, the food was still homemade, but it seemed rushed and put together differently. We ordered the tri-tip breakfast tacos, which were all around flavorful. The biscuits and gravy were OK, but didn't have enough gravy, and the biscuits were just OK. Our friends enjoyed their crabcake Benedict, but not so much the French toast. Their homemade root beer had a funny taste and their coffee was nothing special. Our first visit was better. I would still recommend this place to friends though because of the patio, the live music, fresh ingredients, and their garden. We had a chance to walk around their large nursery and check out the animals as well! It's a great place to bring kids. Parking lot can be full on a weekend.

Yelp
The ambiance, the service and the consistently good breakfast dishes are the draw. These are the reasons I have come to deeply appreciate Nate's. I love the Egg's Benedict and crab cakes most of all, but have never had a bad meal. The restaurant prides itself in sourcing from local farms and in prioritizing organic produce and locally roasted coffee as well as locally brewed beer. A wonderful, local community vibe. You will also find a rotation of local musicians who regularly play here -- folk, blues, acoustic music, jazz and the like. And, apparently, they not only make their own biscuits, but also brew their own root beer. Yes, this is definitely the place to bring your out of town visitors. And the team is highly informative and accommodating as well. They do help you to feel right at some. Same with the patrons, for the most part. Never have I had a negative experience here, and it is overall very child and family friendly. But, alas, there are three things I see as problematic: Parking. It may be difficult. There is a small, shared surface lot that was extended not too long ago. But the lot does not at all accommodate the popularity of the businesses here. Expect to do a few laps or, if you are lucky, find a spot on the street, which is on a hill (not best for those with mobility aids). The restrooms will sometimes reek, which is a problem for the tables seated at the very back of the restaurant. It can get very hot in the summer. Air circulation is no a best trait here. ...not reason enough to miss this local favorite.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning after a hike. Yummy breakfast, everyone was happy all around. And there was live music. Check out the nursery after you're done with your meal!

Leslie K.

Yelp
I was disappointed today. I haven't been there in a few years, so the quality has gone down. Still better than a lot of places. I bought the veggie hash with a side of bacon. The poached eggs were pre-cooked. First time eggs arrived as a hard boiled egg. I sent it back. The second batch came cold in the middle, soft but not runny. Then my bacon was cooked all the way so I asked to have it crispier and the served for an attitude. When ordering I asked if the grapefruit juice was fresh squeezed and was told yes. It was not. I also received less veggies in my hash than in the past. Again not a horrible experience, but not great either.

Yelp
Place was nice, the ambiance was giving country chic, in the best way possible. I didn't know it was self-serve for coffee and utensils, but we ordered up front and they brought our food to our table. I came with 3 other people, 2 of us got the french toast, one got pulled pork hash, and vegetable frittata with sausage. My vegetable frittata was pretty good, the goat cheese added a tart flavor but without it the frittata would have been a little bland. Their breakfast potatoes were more like mashed potatoes that were somewhat crispy at the bottom and top, it was good with the pesto they had placed on top, but I wish it was a little chunkier. The french toast was also good, typical of a brunch place, nothing memorable. My friend enjoyed his pulled pork hash, the portion of it was large. There was a live musician, we sat at the table outside right next to him and it was great! We were next to the speakers but it wasn't too loud. The place was really nice and family friendly.

Yelp
Everything went well. The grill cheese is fantastic as well as the salads!!! Service is awesome. Ambiance is amazing. I love this place.
google avatar

Kim W.

Yelp
Had the pulled pork hash. "Poached" eggs here are actually boiled eggs (see photo). I have never seen a restaurant put out something like this! And my friends had the crab cake benny, also with boiled eggs on top. Service is that you order/pay at the counter and they bring it to your table...how do you rate that? The one good thing is they have a patio so you can bring your dog, that's worth the one star i guess.
google avatar

Kimberley C.

Yelp
Cute little grill on the grounds of a nursery. The food was great and the ambiance elevated the experience. Many items on the menu are Mae in house, including their kombucha and root beer. There is live music on weekends. We will definitely plan to eat here again the next time we visit the nursery!

Sarah R.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in San Diego, definitely a hidden gem! The food is always ridiculously good, great quality. The staff is always always super nice and I never feel rushed ordering. Love music nights are the best. The freakin Sasparilla is great. The nursery is also great! Just love it all

Yelp
What a great place. We found this off Yelp and it did not disappoint!!! Great food and incredible atmosphere. Kudos to the fantastic staff as well.

Yelp
First time here for breakfast You park inside or on the busy street..We got lucky and I was able to pull right in a spot by the door. You walk up and a few people in line it was quick to order at the counter 1st. Very happy a friendly here we picked a booth for of us. You help yourself's to waters and coffee and silverware napkins an salt and pepper here. Music is starting up outside only on the weekends it's a small cozy place country vibe here lots of wood and nice pictures up I didn't take a pictures of...next time I had BLT and really good bacon and big tomato too with butter lettuce on sour dough bread very good I brought the other half home and Big good pickle with chips they made them there pepper chip really good. My biscuit was warm and delicious and house made jam yummm!! Biscuit was soft and crispy too perfect dropped biscuit. 2 got the Pulled pork hash with poached eggs with seasonal veggies it was good too. We had a wonderful time and off we went to buy more veggies for our vegetable garden done! At the City Farm Nursery
google avatar

Adriana A.

Yelp
Amazing local find next to a beautiful garden! Vegetable frittata: The goat cheese in the frittata really elevated this dish & brought it all together Biscuits & gravy: the biscuits were soft & fresh. The whole table loved the biscuits!! The service was incredible and welcoming. The live music really brought the whole experience together. Our table enjoyed some mimosas & live music before visiting the garden next door 10/10 experience

Yelp
Tried out dinner here the other night. The interior had this rustic vibe with wooden furnishings. I tried out a burger and potato salad. I thought it was a bit odd there were no fries on the menu to add to the burger. Closest thing they had was potato chips. The burger was fine for what it was but a bit pricey. Also had a pumpkin pie with whipped cream and powdered sugar. The pie tasted like it had no sugar at all on it thus the powdered sugar placement. This place is located on a side road off Euclid. Bit dark too see at night and if you're not familiar with the area you may miss it. The parking lot doubled as a nursery but I could not tell at night. They do live music here at night. Apparently this place is popping on the weekends and parking in the lot is minimal.
google avatar

Margarita A.

Yelp
Awesome getaway spot in the middle of the city!!! Food was very good!! Friends ordered carne asada tacos and mahi mahi tacos I heard were great! I had the crab cake salad it's was good a bit small in crab cake size but enough to fill ya! Country setting! Friendly and patient service! Nursery and animals to see around back the goats were so sweet! And got we each got a sting to turtles plant! Just a nice place.. the food was good and forgot to take pictures to busy eating
google avatar

michelle h.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food every time I go here! The burgers, salads, brunch skillet, etc. They have lots of beers on top as well as house brewed root beer and homemade lemonade. Sometimes there's live music on the patio so check the hours and artist before you go. After you eat, take a scroll through the nursery to pick up some plants or just see the chickens.
google avatar

Angelina C.

Yelp
Ambiance- After you do some plant shopping at City Farmers Nursery, you should stop for a bite to eat right on the same lot! Stop at the front to get a menu and choose your own seat. Once you know what you want, you can order with staff up front. It's quite rustic here with lots of eclectic decorations. They even have live music! Food- They have absolutely wonderful bacon... best I've ever tried. It was crispy and meaty yet fatty and flavorful at the same time! I ordered the French toast combo plate with bacon and potatoes. Their potatoes were really special as well- they tasted like they had a goat cheese and a chimichurri sauce on top, which made them nice and creamy. The biscuits were great, golden brown and buttery, with a very rich strawberry jam. The French toast was not my favorite, it didn't have too much flavor or texture, but it came with real maple syrup which was cool to try.
google avatar

Neachelle O.

Yelp
Quaint little spot and we had excellent service. The staff was friendly and received our order quick Better beer selection then expected too lots on tap! Food was fresh and lots of flavor The only downside was the cheese in the kids Mac and cheese was a bit too sharp for my kid to enjoy , next time we'll order something different for her I will also note watching the staff take care in wiping down the tables after some families left was commendable. The tables were sanitized throughly and floors and chairs adjusted
google avatar

Adria D.

Yelp
First of all some yelpers on here wrote things that aren't true about this restaurant let me clear up a couple of things number one they do not grow any of their own produce that they use nor do they make anything from scratch. There is no daycare for kids. And you most certainly cannot take your alcoholic beverage outside of the restaurant to stroll the gardens which is what some people have claimed and that has never been true according to the person working at Nate's. That being said potato salad and the side salad are disgusting I would tell you to get the bag of chips and I paid $23 for chicken sandwich and a beer my chicken sandwich took about a half an hour to 40 minutes to come out and by that time my roommate had already finished her grilled cheese. Neither one of us will be eating here again
google avatar

Tracey M.

Yelp
We went at lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant is cute and they had live music. Service was great and the staff is very friendly. The Sun Tea was lovely, as well as the Grapefruit mimosa. Small but diverse menu, we had burgers and the biscuits & gravy. The burger is small and basic, but it was cooked perfectly, would have added bacon, but $4 is steep. Biscuits and gravy was good, but would have preferred the eggs on the side instead of on the biscuits. Main critique, nothing is seasoned.
google avatar

Kenneth K.

Yelp
Had the blt and the house Mac and cheese. Bomb. The bacon is nitrate free and the bread was local sour dough. This place is connected to a cool nursery which is fun. Staff was super friendly. Good job ya'll.

Yelp
I was finishing up a work trip and was looking for a good lunch spot on yelp. I found Nate's garden grill and decided to eat here. As soon as I entered I was greeted by the front door staff. When you come in you order your food and then take a seat. The staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered grilled chicken breast sandwich which consist of avocado, Swiss cheese, onion, tomato, pesto aioli on toasted sourdough bread. I had a kale slaw along with the sandwich. The sandwich was phenomenal and delicious. The chicken was grilled to perfection and the bread was toasted perfectly. The kale slaw was delicious. I also ordered a Cobb salad and a crab cake salad. My wife loved her Cobb salad. The crab cake came with kale, onion, capers, raddicchio, Parmesan with lemon garlic vinaigrette. The crab cake was the star of the salad it was so delicious and very flavorful. The ambiance is customer friendly and plenty of seating. Great place to go for breakfast and lunch.

Yelp
I have to say I really enjoyed my visit here. The grill is nestled inside a garden nursery and a really cool one at that. The nursery not only had great flowers and trees but they hosted lots of animals to visit and also had cool garden decorations. If I hadn't needed to get somewhere I could have spent hours looking at all the interesting things! The "grill" portion of stop was also very inviting the menu had salads, biscuits, sandwiches, tacos, all the comfort things you would want. It was really hard to choose so I went with a boring salad but alas there was nothing boring about it. Had a really great taste and I really enjoyed it! They also made the biggest biscuits and served with strawberry jam. I scored a bite off my daughter but wished I had gotten one! Basically, you order at the counter and they give you a number and you can choose where you sit in the restaurant both inside or outside. The food was really delicious! Fresh, felt homemade. Very enjoyable to eat. I imagine you want to be mindful of when you come as they appeared to have a good flow of people. The parking lot is tiny and we parked two blocks away. Between the nursery and the grill I imagine they keep pretty busy. I only wish there was one of these in my town!

Yelp
Great tasting, healthy food, kind service, and live music. We were at the nursery next door, and the smells drew us in. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I came here on a recommendation of a work friend. I was so excited to try a new place. Given that it was a new spot for us we walked in and I said for two please. The young lady up front was so rude and pointed up to the 'order here sign' and said look at the sign. I was immediately put off. I walk in looking ahead, not 'up'. I'm sure she noticed because after that she was so fake nice. Then when our food came out she took it to the other table (we were the only two couples there). What's the use of giving us a number if you aren't going g to pay attention. She then walked back to their table, picked up our food and when she dropped it off, she said. They didn't touch it so it's ok. The food and drinks were good. Seeing all the great reviews I'm sure this place would have been a good add to our breakfast rotation, but this one first impression/interaction left me with no desire to come back.
google avatar

Crystal M.

Yelp
Although the food was tasty, there were a few reasons why I will not come back here. I didn't feel right giving it a lower rating, though, because what I may not like, others might. I do want to start with the positive though. The food was good, the restaurant had a nice country aesthetic, and the food comes out quickly. With that being said, we almost left before even going in because the parking is so limited, we could not find anywhere to park, even on the street. We got lucky right before leaving, a spot opened up. This place is an order, then sit type of place, so you fill your own coffee, get your own utensils & hot sauce (if available, unfortunately there was no chalula until I was done eating). The seating is also very limited and it is kind of tight around the whole restaurant. They do have live music which was playing inside, it is nice, but was very loud, we chose to sit outside where it wasn't as overwhelming with the sound since I'm a little sensitive to that. They have live music outside too, but not when we were here. If that is uncomfortable for you, if loud noises make you anxious, take that into consideration. The lady who brought us our food was nice and was working hard. This is a nice place, just a bit overstimulating or anxiety inducing to some.
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
Fantastic. I love both the crab cake salad and the Cobb salad. They have butter noodles for the kids at a great price. I love to come here with the kids, grab lunch and a sun tea and then walk around the city "farm" afterwards.
google avatar

Julie R.

Yelp
I'm totally obsessed. Live music, delicious mimosas, a great brunch, and right next to city farmers nursery, where there are a ton of cute animals and amazing plants. We had the best date Sunday morning enjoying our brunch with music and then strolling around the gardens. Must haves include the pretzel bun with cream cheese (classic and delicious) and the bacon! Great service and sweet people, and a shop cat in the nursery

Yelp
What a cute little hidden gem! This place shares the space of a nursery. If you blink, you will miss it. But if you are lucky enough to find it, you won't be disappointed. They have nightly live music mostly consisting of a couple guitar players. We came on a Wednesday and we're treated for some blue grass music. It is a small outdoor enclosed patio area that creates a nice setting. While the music is great, the food here is what will keep everyone coming back. I ordered the arugula salad with beets and added grilled fish. Simple and tasty. The rest of our group ordered some great items. The BLT is great and food is fresh. The fish tacos are excellent! But the best thing we tried was the chicken chili! It has a smoky chicken flavor as is amazing!!! I would come back here again to support live music and a local restaurant.

Corey T.

Yelp
I love this place! I love live music, beer and good food. This place has all 3. Nate's just has that homey feel. Between going back and forth from the nursery and listening to live music, I could spend all day at Nate's. On the weekends, they bake their own biscuits and hands down best biscuits in all of San Diego. They are a must try!

Yelp
very good food quality. every meal i've tried is so yummy my favorite being biscuits & gravy. the only thing i don't enjoy here is their coffee, super bitter and kinda nasty. they definitely need more coffee selections and better tasting.

Yelp
Special place. Good food. Good beer. Live music. Connected to a nursery so buy a plant and have a hamburger. They have live music quite frequently which is harder to find than you think. They have a covered patio to enjoy that nice San Diego weather. Family friendly.

Yelp
Came here with a few friends on a Sunday morning. A couple of us had pups so we sat in the patio outside. Very dog friendly with treats available for them inside. There were many interesting options and with the help of the person at the register, I picked the homemade biscuits with sausage gravy. My friends chose the avocado toast and the salmon lox both on pretzel bread. They mentioned that the salmon lox was a bit too salty but the avocado toast was pretty good. I'm not going to lie... I was pretty darn happy with my choice. The biscuits have just the right density, the gravy was a nice thickness and the sausage crumbles added just the right amount of flavor where each bite was delicious. The potato cake was so good, I **almost** just devoured it on the spot but decided it was too good to NOT share. My friends enjoyed it quite a bit and so did I! So why not 5 stars? The parking is pretty challenging if you don't find a spot in the lot. Overall it is a cute spot and while you're there, check out the animals and the plants that are available for purchase.
