Nate's on Marsh is a beautiful venue in what originally must have been a home, giving you the cozy vibes as soon as you step into the dining area. Although it has only been around for a few years (2021, I believe), the way they've decorated with vintage feeling wall paper and dark wood throughout the dining spaces makes you feel like this restaurant could have been around for decades upon decades.
The service is excellent, what can be considered "white tablecloth service". (Word is they made the Michelin guide.)
Although not SUPER formal (i.e. no jacket required), check out the FAQ's on their website for apparel guidance. (Essentially, avoid being super informal with things like athletic apparel, flip flops, and such.) I wore jeans with a nice top and shoes that dressed up the 'fit, and felt perfectly comfortable in the space. I saw people wearing outfits similar to mine, and others a little more dressed up, as this can be considered a special occasion restaurant.
Noticed as we were seated that some tables had the restaurant's post card with hand written notes wishing people happy anniversary and happy birthday. A nice touch and definitely the type of place to celebrate a special milestone!
The food ordered was delicious, including a Caesar salad...the real deal style, so prepare for anchovies, a yum at our table. It also had giant house made croutons that added a delicious touch to the salad. I enjoyed a very tasty crab bisque, which I believe was one their specials for that night. Had a touch of spicy, which I personally loved but thought the server might have warned about since some people don't enjoy it and it's not necessarily expected for a traditional bisque. My group and I each enjoyed our pasta dishes one more delicious than the next. The menu also includes non-pasta entrees like steak and seafood dishes.
The website says they have a patio. Not sure if they meant just the front or if there's more outdoor seating in the back, but I recommend the beautiful indoor or you'll miss half the experience. The outdoor seating I saw was just two tables with patio umbrellas in what can be considered the "front yard". (Fine for those who need outdoor dining but not particularly cozy or picturesque.)
No dogs even if you choose to dine outside, per their website. (Except for service animals.) Nate's on Marsh is at the edge of downtown, far enough away that it's less crowded but close enough to still take a stroll in downtown to walk off that delicious dinner. My only regret, I was too full to try dessert.
A reservation is probably best, as the restaurant became quite full quite quick from the time we arrived for our early (5pm) reservation to the time we left. I can see why it's so popular: A beautiful venue and a beautiful menu...highly recommend and can't wait to make my return!
