Delicious tasting Reuben on rye. You gotta try it. The staff was very kind. Great place for lunch or to grab a bite to go.

Ordered a corned beef sandwich, fries, and a pickle on 9/27/23. The sandwich was delicious, fries were fresh and what McDonald’s fries wish they were, and the pickle was perfect. Even better that I overheard the woman making my food supporting the UAW and the members on strike including me! Will definitely be back soon :)

Google
The roast beef was fantastic. Get the fries, you won’t regret it! Fantastic service, easy parking.

I have been passing this place for years on my way to Belle Isle. It's usually after work and they always was closed. I was in the area on a Saturday. It was worth the years! I had a half corn beef and pastrami, Swiss on onion bread. It was so delicious. It was 15 dollars a sandwich and worth it. The lady was extremely nice!!! I will most definitely try to stop by more often. They even have a food truck outside when the deli is closed. They don't sell sandwich tho. It was nice and clean on the inside with seating area.

Google
Hands down the best Deli in the city!!! They have the best corned beef I have ever eaten, and that is coming from a north-easterner. All the sandwiches I have eaten here are amazing and my mouth waters just thinking about it. The people there are super nice and accommodating. The dining room is cozy and friendly. If you are looking for a great lunch you can stop your search right here at Nathan's Deli!

Google
Just ate lunch at Nathan's deli and we were not disappointed! The lady working there was super helpful and friendly, she even gave us a couple free cookies for my boyfriends bday. The sandwiches were amazing, pluse some of the best Cole slaw I've had which they make fresh in house. If you're looking for a great lunch spot go to Nathan's! Deli!

Google
Extremely good food and service. My friend and I were looking for a decent place to eat when we were downtown at a convention and this place was great! Easily walkable from TCF/Kobo and the lady that served us was super nice.

Google
Nathan's sandwiches are great! Their bread is fresh baked and the ingredients are top quality. It may seem expensive if your used to fast food, but if you like eating healthy, no other place better in the area. They've been serving lunch for over a decade. Staff are cool-hip people.

Yelp
We tried Nathan's because everyone was raving about this Jewish Deli so when we're in the area we stopped in for a bite to eat. First I would say my experience is my experience and it was extremely anxiety driven started from how you order your food. You walk up to the menu to look and the cooks (one in particular) is already yelling what do you want and rushing you to hurry and order something. He seemed bothered if you asked a question which did not feel very welcoming. The food was honestly not that great for the price! We got a large matzoh ball soup, a pastrami Reuben, a Greek salad (the lettuce was brown) and I couple other items that were not memorable. The dessert options were okay but the ladies at the register were really sweet. We won't be back unfortunately.

Yelp
I live near Ferndale michigan. I drove all the way to this deli for soup. So I chose to get a regular corned beef on rye due them not having anymore soup. I was assured that the sandwich was stacked high for what the price. When I got in my car and opened my sandwich my heart sink and I was crushed... my sandwich was equivalent to three slices of deli meat with mustard on rye... it costs me 17.00 bucks. Star deli in Southfield and Lou's deli in Detroit were way cheaper and in closer distance...I went only because they were featured on Fox2 News... FAKE NEWS... sorry .. NOT SORRY

Yelp
Small little deli with great service and delicious sandwiches in the GM Detroit center.

Yelp
This is THE SANDWICH SHOP! I stopped in and had the Pastrami Ruben and an Italian sandwich. Both were done the right way and the service was amazing. You can tell the very nice and hospitable lady who runs the place knows her stuff!

Heather H.

Yelp
This family knows sandwiches and service! The Turkey sandwiches are the best around! Fresh Turkey you can tell was made and sliced that day and the bread and veggies so fresh to match! My friends had the corned beef and agreed with the bread being fantastic and the corned beef being so succulent with just the right ratio of meat to bread! Can't wait to let everyone know about the food and the wonderful organization skills to make service run smooth! The family is kind and knows deli sandwiches like the back of their hand! Don't wait, get downtown and try this GEM!

Yelp
Lots of good sandwich options here! It also looks like the inside has been updated recently, there's plenty of seating, and it's very clean. It was a little pricey, but my sandwich was good and the service was nice.

Sierra B.

Yelp
I enjoyed this sandwich very much; it was delicious! It was a bit on the small side though. Normally a corned beef sandwich is stacked with meat but that's not the case with this one. I hear this a popular place for lunch so I decided to stop by. I'm happy I did. The service was fast and the workers were friendly. Get here soon.

Yelp
Solid place to get a sandwich in Detroit. My co-workers and I stopped here for lunch today as I am a big fan of big deli sandwiches. They are also located pretty close to the Ren Cen. We tried the Turkey Deluxe (grilled club, #13), The Reuben (#11) and Italian Sub (#20). All of us enjoyed our sandwiches. My co-worker with the Italian sub commented that the sub bun was perfect because it wasn't too crispy like cut the roof of your mouth, but it wasn't too soft either. I am hoping the prices of the sandwiches are because they are homemade or use fresher ingredients, because the sandwiches ran about $9. Sides are separate. We tried the french fries. Nothing to write home about, they had no seasoning, flavor, or even salt. I probably wouldn't get them again. Not much in the department for beverages. There were only a few cans of pop, bottles of Faygo and Ice Mountain water bottles in the cooler. Except I'm not sure how well the cooler was working, as all our beverages were room temperature. The interior is in some need of updates. Many of the booths had ripped seats that were duck taped back together. There is definitely some kind of water or mold damage on the ceiling as well. Not a deal breaker for me, but something to be mindful of. I personally enjoyed their tip jar and their sign that said "every sandwich is made with love." Overall, a solid sandwich shop near the Ren Cen with tasty sandwiches. I will plan on coming back, but I might bring my own beverage next time.

Yelp
DIPPED in for a Lunch Carry-out! But decided to Dine-In too really enjoy my usual "Tuna Melt with Sour Cream-n-Onion Chips." Its Quiet time between my Better Made Chips and my Toasted Special on Rye; witness you HAVE to see it!! A perfect Combo if I must say so.... Here there are NO Meeting Interruptions, Find Me's or TV Volumes......Only the right Amount of Lite Chatter, not a bother-of-a-time at all!! Just-A-Quick-Bite "Perfectly Melted cheese, toasted on Rye bread; with Chunks of Albacore, dices of Celery and just the right amount Lettuce!" In a booth just big enough for me.... For your Visual set-up!!...You walk right up with Aspired Anticipation to the Counter; even Share a Menu if Undecided, Order and take a Seat....The Staff will call you by Name when your Menu Selection is ready. Yup, not by Number! And while you wait "you may witness the Many Deli Selections coming from Wall-Side!" Your Choices come with Chips (Better Made) or Fries! Even a slice of Dill; not an Advocate -- MORE of a Sweet Gherkins Fan myself....But it seems to be well received by other Chompers! So there you have it...!! What to expect from Nathan's; quick lunch SPECIALS and deli choices made to order. A well known spot to have What those Taste Bud Needs...!! Till next time.....

Yelp
I visited late in the afternoon and ordered the tuna melt. It came fast enough, It was very expensive by tuna melt standards, nearly $15.00 once you added in the drink and little bag of chips. The tuna was decent enough, kind of like the way I would make it, but it was kind of on the smallish side. The bread and the cheese was not really melted together. The ambiance of this little Deli is beyond hideous. Stark flourescenet lights, little tables, dirty cieling with water stains. Just awful.

Yelp
OMG just had the special of the day, Nicks Special. If anyone hasn't been to Nathans you are missing out on great meals and for reasonable prices. Rather you call in your order or walk-in, always ask what the special is

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I love a good ol turkey sandwich. Nothing special, just the standard mayo, lettuce, and tomato! This was a solid turkey sandwich and I was satisfied, however, my wallet was not! $9.95 for a small (small compared to most deli sandwiches) turkey sandwich, and no side or drink! (Well, 2 small pickles came with it) that is outrageous if you ask me. Service was fast and friendly, but the price alone is enough to make me not want to go back.

Barbara B.

Yelp
I as was very happy the find this deli it was delightful to find a neighborhood deli in comparison to the usual conference places to eat people. The people were friendly and breakfast was delicious.

Rojin J.

Yelp
The Special Corned Beef on Rye for lunch has been THE BEST part of law school so far. Fast service, clean diner and cool people. Keep it up Nathan's!

Yelp
I have been going to Nathan's about once a month over the past year or so. I almost always order the same sandwich (Blue Dream wrap) and it's amazing. The last couple of times I have called to order my favorite sandwich, they have been out of some of the key ingredients. No big deal. The folks are always up-front and apologetic - and I appreciate that they don't try to make substitutions or omit ingredients just to make the sale. Today, I called and ordered my sandwich, and they remembered me from my last couple of calls. Upon picking up my sandwich, I received a smile and notification that my sandwich was "on the house" for the past couple of inconveniences. You don't receive customer service like this often. It was very unnecessary, but much appreciated. Nathan's is a tiny place on Jefferson with great food and a lot of heart. I've enjoyed everything I have ordered from there: salads, soups (especially the lentil), and, of course, sandwiches. As noted above, Blue Dream is my favorite and a must-try for vegetarians. But their corned beef, pastrami, turkey, ham, all fantastic. Try Nathan's - you won't be disappointed!

Thomas L.

Yelp
Good deli that is reasonably priced. Get take out from time to time with working in the area. Service is always friendly and order always comes correctly which is a nice perk. Try any and all sandwiches for I have not had one I do not like. One in pert ocular to try is the corned beef. Also must try salads. I enjoy the Maurice salad. I think the salads are the best band for buck for comes with fresh pita bread and a large salad. Nice they also have parking with being downtown. That is a major plus.

A.J. S.

Yelp
Pretty decent place, there is a lot of competition in this area from Opus 1, Honey Baked Ham, and Jimmy Johns however, Nathans manages to put out a decent menu, a good eating experience. I would definitely call it A-OK , though nothing to really go out of your way to go to.

Susana D.

Yelp
Amazing Rueben sandwich, the best I've ever had. The quality of their meats is really nice. Wish I discovered this place a long time ago. Highly recommended.

Michele J.

Yelp
Ok, so I've driven pass this place for many many years and finally had an opportunity to stop in, and I'm so glad I did! They're usually closed when I'm in the area but I decided to go down for lunch. I had the corned beef and after several let downs from different places recently I was finally satisfied. The meat was very tender and flavorful, the onion roll was fresh. The fries were to die for they taste a lot like McDonald's fries. The service was great they were very hospitable and made recommendations on food seeing that it was our first time. This will be my new spot for corned beef! I was surprised at how clean this place was, usually small establishments are dirty and ran down but I felt very comfortable here.

Yelp
This is based on my one initial visit only, but credit where it's due, yeah? I was headed to the Tigers' Opening Day game, and had to park due east of the RenCen. On my way to the RenCen People Mover station, I happened to glance across Jefferson and see Nathan's there, and by that time of the day, I was absolutely starving. Walked across the street, went right in, and placed my order for a corned beef on rye with cole slaw and Russian dressing. I asked for it with a new dill pickle, which they didn't have (?), but it was hardly a hill to die on when I was as hungry as I was. That, and a can of Coke, and my order was complete. About $10.50 out the door, including tax, which is more-than-fair these days for a corned beef sandwich and drink, especially downtown, I'd say. The folks there were friendly enough, a *tiny* bit slow with my carryout, but nothing to really complain about, either. I was probably just in a bit of a hurry, and didn't make that known. My sandwich, pickle, and Coke were packed up well enough, I was given a couple of napkins in the bag with them, and off I went. I tried. Really, I *did* try to hold off on eating the sandwich until I got to the park, but I could feel myself getting ornery having not eaten anything all day, so it was time to dig in before I got there. The grade on the sandwich would be a B-/C+. It was certainly good enough to merit what I'd paid for it, and I thought it was put together well, too. There are certainly plenty of other corned beef sandwiches which are better than this one, but this one isn't anything to hang their head about, either. It's just not my favorite, second favorite, third favorite...but it's still plenty good. The old dill that came with it? Far better than expected. The can of Coke was cold and functional. I do wish that the beef itself had been a bit more flavorful, but it was fine, the bread was good, the cole slaw was good, and the Russian dressing was good. I would gladly do this again under similar circumstances for the same price. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if I was in the area and was hankering for a decent corned beef sandwich, this would fit the bill and make me happy enough. If they can do it consistently, all the better.

Yelp
This place is located next to a law school and amid businesses in a busy district without a lot of restaurants. Naturally, the menu is overpriced, the service is slow, and the kitchen is dirty. Every time I go there and order, they forget my soda or I have to wait 25 minutes for my order. Not worth it.

Mark N.

Yelp
This place is overpriced!!! Its $9.00 for a medium pastrami sandwich without sides. Sure, the meat and cheese are delicious and well-prepared, but its served on cheap Wonder bread and that ruined the experience. Not worth the money.

John D.

Yelp
Fantastic Deli!! Everything in here is really tasty and the service is great. The cashier always greets me with a smile and I appreciate that. Seriously, everything is good, I've tried it all.

John J.

Yelp
Seriously, one of the best sandwiches I've ever wrapped my lips around. Don't let the look of the place turn you away, they have absolutely great food. Like the others, the corned beef is my favorite but I've not had a "bad" sammy no matter what I've ordered. I try to make sure I stop here for lunch every time I'm in downtown Detroit for a conference.

Erin C.

Yelp
We were in Detroit for the #RiseUpELCA Youth Gathering last month and the folks at Nathan's came through for my group of 29 when no one else would! I called in an order for 29 people, and an hour later when we walked in to pick up our sandwiches they were ready, perfectly prepared, the hot ones hot, the cold ones cold and all of them tasting amazing! They even stayed open past closing time for us. Pleasant, efficient, excellently priced, and terrific taste! If ever I am in Detroit again, I will stop in for sure!! Thank you so much!

Chris H.

Yelp
Great Deli. I was looking for a replacement for the Star Deli I used to frequent in Southfield and Nathan's is every bit as good. Great Corned Beef Special.

Diren A.

Yelp
This is my best sandwich place on earth! I may have been to this place more than 20 times over last 8 years. I always get my sandwich perfect. Every time I go there I have to resist the temptation to order their favorite - Rueben , two times out of three, I just give up. If I have to leave US or Detroit one day, I'll still come back and visit just for its Rueben! Don't get fooled by its appearance.

G T.

Yelp
whenever i am in the DTW, i hit up nathans. this place isnt fancy- you dont get the white linen table cloths- the thing that this place does EXCEPTIONALLY well is make awesome sandwiches. you want a great lunch at a decent price- go to nathans. plus it has parking!!!

Sonya P.

Yelp
I just went up to Nathans on my lunch because i heard it was good. I told the lady i wanted a corn beef on onion roll with mustard and swiss cheese. I got my order went back to work and opened it up and it was a roast beef. i called back and asked to speak with the manager. She gets on the phone, i tell her the issue and she was the one that took my order. She tells me that she took my order and i need to watch what i'm ordering, she'll exchange it this time if i come back up there, because i asked her what some man had that was before me and she repeated my order. Liar, nobody was before me. I didn't ask about what nobody had, i just ask for a corn beef. I can't believe she just totally lied and got smart when it was her fault. Bad business. She could've got good business, but i will tell everybody i know because i work at a popular place Downtown to not go there.
