NYC-based Hot Dog Company Nathan’s Famous Returns $1.2M Loan from PPP | Eater NY

"After receiving a $1.2 million Paycheck Protection Program loan on April 21, I noted that the Long Island–based hot dog purveyor—valued at about $252 million—filed with the SEC that it will return the loan following Treasury guidance urging public companies to repay; the company reported operating 259 restaurants and franchise locations as of March 2019, many of which have temporarily closed due to coronavirus, but it has been buoyed by locations that remain open, notably its restaurant on the Coney Island boardwalk, and by increased sales of Nathan’s products at grocery stores; however, I also noted that even if locations reopen for summer, the company may not have the hot dogs needed to supply them because Smithfield Foods, its primary manufacturer, has closed." - Luke Fortney

This Nathan’s location is small, but very clean. But because of the small dinning area, it can be very long wait times if it gets busy. I love their burgers, hotdogs and corn dog nuggets! But their prices are expensive! $7 for one hot dog is outrageous. They do offer deals on Thursdays during happy hour after 5pm and for every hot dog you buy, you get another one for like 5 cents. Which is nice but you’re still paying $7 per hotdog. The staff is always great, the foods delicious, and it’s very clean! But way too expensive now

We used to go to the original one up the road for many years. So, needless to say, it has a special place in my heart! I have been to this location a bunch of times, and I always enjoy it. I got a hotdog, fries, and their famous orange drink. Everything was very good and fresh! The staff was courteous, and everything, including the restroom, was clean. If you like Nathan's, you'll like this spot!

Not going to lie - I sadly forgot this location was still here... we're losing all the Nathan's that are on Long Island, or at least the originals - hybrids don't count. It's a lot smaller than I remembered it, but also much cleaner. I was stoked to get a delicious bite of classic Nathan's franks and my favorite crinkle cut French fries! Everything was as tasty as you'd expect... except the price. $50 bucks for 5 hot dogs, 3 large fries, and 3 medium drinks feels a tad excessive... especially when you can make the meal at home (with a lot more food) by grabbing them from the grocery store. Honestly, I paid for the nostalgia. I'd really like to see them bring the cost down to a reasonably fair price. Chili cheese dog for $6.99 is a bit over the top. However, that probably won't happen. I'd recommend for the nostalgia as everyone should experience the pure flavor of a classic meal fresh from the source. Make sure to bring the kids and keep the legend alive!

Dear Nathan’s Oceanside LI Manager Feb 26 2025 My husband and I just left so happy enjoying most scrumptious delicious lunch of chili cheese 🌭’s waffle fries double bacon cheese 🍔 our hostess Tara was above & beyond outstanding so helpful it’s been several years able to drive out from NYC over 1 hour drive so worth it 👅👍 Claudia is the very best up keep maintenance person anyplace set up like your restaurant which we appreciate yr “2” super ⭐️’s Please keep up yr 5 star rating🙏 I would recommend customers ordering extra chili topping ask for a a real fork utensil recipe change not as thick with beans I had recalled at Coney Isl Brooklyn location 3 years ago The red 2 prong fork will not help eating soupy chili but still yummy 😋

Food review followed by location review Philly cheese steak in terms of flavor was good not too overpowering, but hard to chew on if you are older or have teeth problems, so I would Recomended asking them to toast the bread the meat was also a bit hard to chew on. I enjoyed it but I can see how some people would have a hard time eating it. But !! They put a good amount of everything. Some places cheap out on the meat onions and cheese this place does not. Their Popcorn shrimp was definitely better than POPEYES. It was crunchy yet juicy on the inside. No complains on their chilly cheese dog or their bacon hot dog, both options where delicious. Their Oreo shake was not overwhelming and it was creamy so its a good option if you don’t want something super sweet. As for the Old fashion lemonade it left you wanting something more. So I would probably choose something else. Finally their Hell’s Kitchen burger !!! 10/10 recommend not to spicy super juicy flavorful it was so good! just eat it don’t worry about the mess 😁 honestly I would come back just for the burger. It was my first time eating at this location. They have a self check out kiosk but it crashed for me and my girlfriend. Luckily the staff was really friendly when we went to the line. We went on a Thursday which was really busy because of their 5 cent hot dogs (ask the workers). The location has a very back in time aesthetic feel to it, considering its been around for like 117 years. Bathroom was very clean which i was happy about. Overall we paid $45 for a Philly cheese stake, chili dog , bacon dog, Hell’s Kitchen burger (by far the best burger I have had in some time) super crunchy and juicy pop corn shrimp, water bottle, old fashion lemonade and an Oreo shake. I gave it a 4 star because there’s always room for improvement, but I will be visiting this location pretty often. They also left me some actual coupons I’ll definitely be using. Unlike some places where they give you coupons you know you will never use. Also if you still play Pokémon it has 3 pokestops. Overall 4 stars just because of what I explained and the price was worth it honestly.

This is my favorite fast food restaurant on the planet. All my life I grew up going to the Nathan’s on old country road in Westbury, NY. When they closed it, I was heartbroken. But luckily there is the Nathan’s in Oceanside and it’s going strong. Food was great, prices were great and great people working there. I will be back!!!

Everyone posted such nice pictures of their food here, and look what I received... A few burnt pieces of potato with a few dribbles of cheese. Is this what a medium cheese fries looks like for $5.00? Also ordered sauerkraut on my franks... Do you see any in this picture?

Nice place, clean and a big place. As soon as you came in it smelled clean and the bathrooms were spotless! Took 11 minutes to get our food. I would definitely recommend this place.
