Dunes of Texel National Park, a vast and beautiful dune area, is located on the North Holland island of Texel in the Netherlands. All dune systems on the western side of the island and the large coastal plains on both the northern and southern points of the island are part of the park. The park covers approximately 43 km2 (17 sq mi) and attained national park status in 2002. The visitor center is located in the natural history museum Ecomare. There are lots of walking trails, many of which are signposted. Some routes are not accessible during the bird breeding season. Many bicycle trails cross the park as well. Take a special walk at De Muy or De Slufter. Walk up the beach in the evening for a stroll with the sunset as a backdrop. Explore the area on foot or hire a bike, keep Texel car-free.

Charming natural place where the nature, animals and people live together in a perfect union. Everything is slow and fluid, and you can fell the freedom and the sense of peace everywhere in this little island. Definitely I’ll return.

The nationals park duinen van Texel is an amazing place to enjoy the nature and explore the outsides. You can rent a bike or simply walk; there are a lot of bike pads around, if you wasn’t to walk along the dunes, you park the bike and go. Specially recommended for families.

The dunes are great for the kids running up and down them, playing in the sand. The beach was MASSIVE! The sea goes out so far that there is an abundance of space so no crowding issue. The car park is far away, which means that if you’re driving around the island you have a 25-30 minute walk through sand to get to the actual beach part. This is offset by the surrounding being very beautiful, loads of wildlife to look at and scenery to stare at. The wind was pretty high almost the entire time we were on the island, which is to be expected on that side of the island as it’s all open to the North Sea from there. There were several people flying big kites too, so if that’s your thing it’s a great place for that.

Amazing location! Take your time here. Go for a long hike and explore the back land and the beach. The views are amazing. Just bring proper gear as it can be really windy and there are some thorny bushes along the way. But this is the place to go when on Texel. There is a camping area right at the back of the dunes. This is the best place to stay!

One Word WOW! I had never heard of this area before until a local took me there. I swear we walked down this beach for hours without seeing anyone. It was almost aerie how big it was and how few people we saw. You could look in three directions and only see sand and beach. I highly recommend this beach to anyone in the area. Simply amazing.

A wonderful experience for those who want to enjoy nature. Yes its a flat island, but its a 1:30hs ride to the north of Texel and the same to come back. So think it wisely if you want to see the light house in the north. There also buses which stop in the turisty places. Is a good choice for those who dont enjoy bike riding that much... And want to preserve their butt chicks. During mating season, same parts can only be accessed with a tour guide.

A place where you can listen to the scream of silence in the middle of nowhere. just wind and waves. I definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Ecomare is an aquarium on the island of Texel in the Wadden Sea. I was pleasantly surprised by the interactiveness of the aquarium. I thought all areas to be beautifully done and cleverly made. The children loved it and could have spend another hour just revisiting their favorites. Helpful tip: The preference is for the visitors to purchase tickets online. Listen to this advice as tickets are limited due to Covid restrictions.

Yelp
For educational purposes about wildlife is an amazing place to go. If you have children they will enjoy all the indoor activities and seeing the trainers feed the seals and dolphins. The feeding show is only in dutch but the rest have signs in German and English. If you wonder why they have seals and/or dolphins is because at this place the rehabilitate them, and if they are in good condition they can return to the ocean. Location wise is 30m on foot from the koog. It might seems a long walk but it is a pleasant walk in the middle of the national park. If you dont like to walk you can rent bikes and/or take the bus

Yelp
Highly recommendable if you like to learn more about Tessels wildlife and nature. Fair entrance fee, good value for money.
