Sat at the bar and took the bartender almost 20 minutes to acknowledge He seemed flustered and disheveled even though it wasn't really that busy Amazing selection of bourbon and very decently priced i would have stayed and drank more but they did last call on the early side which the bartender expressed his affinity for. Got the Cauliflower bang bang. The pieces were large and had to cut them in half to eat but the sauces were great on it and I liked the crunch too The pastrami reuban was delicious, I wish the meat was higher quality and had more flavor but the sandwich itself was nice with the slaw and krout Fries were nicely seasoned. I think they actually cut and prep them in house is wish they were slightly crispier but only if being picky. I wanted something fun to dip them in but the bartender just had ketchup behind the bar Overall food once I got it ordered came out quick the staff was friendly and I would give it another try for sure

Came on Valentines Weekend. Valet, to hostess, to server were all pleasant and helpful. The Short Rib dish with the mash was excellent. Pineapple Upside Down cake was very good. I recommend.

I like the atmosphere. There are lots of windows so lots of natural light comes through while you eat. The staff was nice and attentive. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken which was absolutely delicious. The chicken was fried perfectly, the mash potatoes were delicious, and the gravy was tasty along with the asparagus. I also tried the Yuzu Frozen Marg and that was really good too, I highly recommend it. I also did try the Butterscotch Brûlée and it was so good. I recommend this place. I would come back.

I’ve been to National Anthem a couple of times, and the service is consistently terrible. Every time I call, Alaska, who claims to be the manager, rudely hangs up without even listening. She has zero customer service skills and no professionalism whatsoever. If this is how they treat people over the phone, I can only imagine how bad it gets in person. Extremely disappointing experience—this place needs better management!

Excellent experience! I went here for a lunch with a group of 10 on a Tuesday afternoon. The food and drinks were great and our server Zach did an excellent job with recommending menu items as well as serving our table. We ordered everything from the Cauli Bang Bang to Fish & Chips, Blood Orange and Frozen Peach Margaritas. Would definitely recommend and try again!

Google
Such a great experience coming here. We walked out of the apartment and decided let's try something new. Very glad we stopped here. My Reuben was delicious and my girlfriend thought her fish and chips were cooked excellent. The cocktails also had a great and fresh taste. We topped it off with the chocolate mousse and an espresso martini. We will definitely be coming back for a good date a few more cocktails.

What a fantastic stroll from work it was! So glad I decided to take it. Let me tell you, the food at this place was absolutely amazing. Our waiter, Williamson, was such a gem. He gave us the most wonderful suggestions, and boy, did they deliver. The crab melt bread was like a fluffy cloud, so delicate and flavorful. And the meat in the French dip? Oh, so tender and succulent! Don't even get me started on the fries - they were 🔥. And to top it all off, the lemonade was refreshing. Trust me, my friend, this place is an absolute must-visit!

Google
My family loved our experience at National Anthem Dallas! Jason, our server, went above and beyond to make our experience memorable! He gave excellent recommendations and we will certainly go back. The food tasted phenomenal, especially the crab cake melt and the crème brûlée. I feel confident that you’ll enjoy anything on the menu. We also enjoyed the atmosphere as you can make it as classy or as casual as you want (dress up or down). National Anthem is perfect for dinner with family or friends. It’s perfect for any occasion, from a birthday celebration to date night to a casual dinner.

Yelp
I never leave reviews but went here last night and really like the food and the area it's located in (historical) and so I hope this place does well! I almost went upstairs to another restaurant - which is owned by the same person who owns National Anthem I think. But opted for National Anthem since it was more in my budget lol. But on a Saturday night I was surprised it wasn't more busy but i didn't mind at all. It was cozy! We sat at the bar and got our food quick. I had the steak frites and my bf got the fish and chips. Both so good. I do wish my steak came with like a pepper corn sauce and not gravy but still good! Good service too. Will definitely be back!

Courtney L.

Yelp
Decided to have a staycation down in Dallas and came here on a recommendation from a friend. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was really cool. Very chill. We came at like 6:30 on a Saturday and the place wasn't overrun with people. The staff was GREAT! We got the Cauli Bang Bang for an appetizer and it was SO GOOD!! I'm don't usually one to like any sort of spice but I was pleasantly surprised that the spice was tolerable. There was still a kick but not enough for me to hate myself and my life choices haha I got the Fish & Chips for my main and I wanted to absolutely love it. The fish was a little too oily so the breading was really wet. Everything else about the dish was amazing. Loved the fries, the slaw, the tartar sauce. If the breading for the fish has been a bit crispier, it definitely would've been a 10/10 for me. I'll definitely be back either to try the fish again or maybe try something else on the menu. There were a lot of great options so I want to see what they're all about!

Yelp
Wonderful service. We had a lovely and friendly young lady. She was very busy but she was super sweet and apologetic. Free birthday dessert for our friend! Bonus! My order took a bit longer, I ordered the fish and chips- lots of fries! Yes!!! I thought maybe there would be three pieces of fish for $28, eek, must have been a skinny little fish they caught. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. It was a nice evening. Pretty and cool place.

Yelp
Decided to order lunch from here since I work nearby. I love that there are rolling daily lunch specials which gives you an opportunity to try many different dishes. The fella on the phone was kind, thorough and helpful. The vibe of the restaurant is really cute - light, airy and open. The food was fantastic. I had to fish (salmon) tacos, which were topped with pico de gallo, pineapple and avocado, served with fries. The fries were tossed in garlic which were delicious!! I will most likely frequent this spot because it's conveniently close to my job. The prices aren't bad and about equally to same as if you were to order food and have it delivered via UberEats.

Hailey A.

Yelp
Drinks and food were great! I got the east side which is basically a south side with cucumber added. The gin was good and lime and mint were fresh! The salmon was cooked perfectly and the cauliflower grits were tasty. Seems like a great place for large groups. I went with 9 others and there was another larger group as well. All the staff members were super friendly and accommodating!

Troy H.

Yelp
The burger was sloppy, but in a good way it was an absolute medicine to a hangover. I highly recommend it cheese and all. Lunch for 2 100 coconuts

Miranda K.

Yelp
This has always been one of my favorite places as they have off menu specials that's really are just fantastic and always switching so you can try new things. Living near this place I love to come here often the service is amazing they treat you with kindness and respect don't over bear you but also don't feel like you're abandoned by your waitress. The ambiance of this place is unique having a huge motorcycle in the bar with great decorations and an over all good vibe. Would definitely recommend national anthem for any occasion!

Britney H.

Yelp
My company took us out to eat here. I also had the deviled eggs and the oysters. Everything was excellent! The best part was the fried peaches for dessert w the powdered sugar. Yum!

Ryan N.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Was seated quickly and ordered within a few minutes. Great burger! One of the better ones I've had in Dallas

Charlene F.

Yelp
Tried National Anthem for the first time on a Friday around 2pm. Great time to try them since they weren't busy. I had a featured menu item - cheesesteak with fries. My son tried the halibut and couscous. Both dishes were very good! Great flavors and the food was perfectly seasoned. Our server was also awesome. We'll definitely be back! I'd love to try more items on their menu.

Yelp
National Anthem is Dallas restauranteur Nick Badovinus's latest restaurant (Desert Racer, Montlake Cut, Town Hearth, Neighborhood Services, Brass Ram, and OSK (RIP)). It has a similar menu to Neighborhood Services, but with a more casual, upbeat vibe. National Anthen is a place to go for a great food and drinks with friends. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - National Anthem's is located in a very cool wedge building in downtown Dallas where Commerce and Jackson St. meet. The entrance is at the front of the wedge where you'll find some outdoor seating. Inside, you'll walk into an impressive bar with lounge seating on the sides. It's bright and white on the inside, very busy, and full of energy. 1 Star. Service - All servers at Nick Badovinus's restaurants are expertly trained. There are many off menu items, which our server shared in detail from memory. They are a team that works together, running out food, clearing dishes, or checking up on us. Outstanding. 1 Star. Food - I love the food at Nick Badovinus's restaurants, and National Anthem is no different. Some of the menu items are similar, like the excellent Fish & Chips. I've had this at Neighborhood Services, and it's quite good. The battered and fried fish is tender and flaky, but the real star of this dish are the seasoned shoestring fries that I prefer dipping into the tartar sauce vs. catsup. But what really separates National Anthem from the other restaurants are the energy and vibe from the bar. I've had some of the best drinks from Brass Ram upstairs, and National Anthem is just as good, but much more accessible. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. We have another winner. I really enjoyed my visit to the National Anthem. I will be back to try the burger (and maybe have another drink). 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

Yelp
Stopped by national anthem on a recent Friday night and had a great meal. We split a salad and then a bowl of chili. The chili was very flavorful and had a mild kick. Our entrees were very large portions and the steak was savory and succulent. The meatloaf was outstanding. The menu has many home cooking American dining favorites and I would like to return and try other items. Our server was very attentive and the resturant was clean and welcoming.

Samantha C.

Yelp
Great place! We sat at the bar and the staff was so friendly and helpful. The espresso martini was super smooth and made with real espresso. The chocolate mousse really hit the spot and was exactly what you want and need. Definitely will be back to try some of the entrees! The restaurant is super cute and definitely has a great vibe. Didn't know it shared a building with brass ram and surf camp, but definitely adds to the appeal!

Yelp
3/5 for the Fish and Chips 3/5 for the Parmesan Crusted Trout 4/5 for the deviled eggs 4/5 for the ambiance 4/5 for the service Starting with the best, the deviled eggs were pretty good! This stood out and left me wanting more, especially after my entree. Definitely recommended! The fish and chips were pretty standard. You could order this at a sports bar and couldn't tell the difference. Good, but not enough to stand out. The fries that came with it were tasty but again the same, good but doesn't stand out. The Trout was the same, standard, you could order it elsewhere and it would taste the same. Good, but not stand out. Great date night spot, we didn't go upstairs to the bar however.

Mitchy M.

Yelp
I drive & walk by this spot all the time. And I have to say it's charming & chill. The vibe is great. It would make for a perfect relaxed date night. The bartender, Miya is crushing the game. Her drinks and service is top notch. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is definitely something I will explore more. Parking: It's downtown.. so it's limited street parking and uber/lyft Great addition to Edo ( east downtown)

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Great atmosphere in The downtown Dallas. I'll come back to try other items on the menu!

Kaitlyn A.

Yelp
Good service and the interior design and vibe are beautiful. It's usually not crowed and it's a quiet place to dine. Great bar area as well. Good location with some paid parking. Their fries are super good if you like shoestring style!

Andrea U.

Yelp
It was delicious!! Best costumer service and environment. Portion size is perfect. You don't have to read the rest of this, just filling the character quota.

Kala B.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Dallas for just a cool vibe, good drinks, and great food! Staff is so nice and fun!

Daniel W.

Yelp
Stopped in for a glass of wine during happy hour and was greeted by a really cool bartender(first month on the job, I didn't catch his name but he was awesome!) that sold us on the food menu and I'm sure glad he did. My gf and I are visiting from out of town and when the bartender heard that he gave us a few solid recommendations of places to check out for entertainment, class act. If I had 1 word to describe this place it would be quality, check them out!

Brenden K.

Yelp
We came here for a friends birthday and they were nice enough to accommodate a large party, where other restaurants wouldn't, so I'm happy and grateful about that. We ordered a round of appetizers and everything was pretty good. The bread service was different, but in a good way. The mussels tasted a little off though. Maybe it was a rough batch or something but it had a fishier taste than I'm used to. I ordered the tuna bowl for my entree and it was very light and flavorful. I'm a fan and would order it again. Service was attentive and relatively prompt but not very memorable. I'd like to return and try another entree or maybe try the steakhouse upstairs as I heard it's the same owner.

Bethany P.

Yelp
Great bar, ambiance, food, and service. The location is amazing architecturally and one of my favorites in Dallas. Great bartender and bar for drinks.

Ace W.

Yelp
Walking in, the atmosphere of the restaurant was great! The decor, the lights, the big windows... pretty spot on! After being seated, our waiter Zach T. provided us with an amazing service, recommending some few items off the menu, announcing their specialty dishes, and giving us time to order! I had came here for dinner with a couple of friends and everyone thoroughly enjoyed our meal and expressed how good our meal was! Definitely will be coming back sometime in the future! PSA: get the "Chicken Fried Chicken"... it comes with the Jalapeño gravy that will rock your world! It was amazing!

Yoruba R.

Yelp
In Dallas for work and Mike and Zach were funny, great customer service the food was amazingly yummy and the happy hour menu was delicious. The happy hour was a great price a true happy hour!

Gwendolyn G.

Yelp
This place is super cute inside. Ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. It was pretty good but I did wish there was slightly more dressing. Chicken was perfectly cooked.

India F.

Yelp
I came here late night after an event & it was ok. The salad I had was super tasty. The service was great, but looking at the menu & the place, nothing made me excited to return. I know people love this place so I may try it again!

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Drinks 10/10 Food 10/10 Dessert 10/10 Service 10/10 Braden is an awesome bartender! He took care of us and gave us great recommendations for exploring the city. Stopping at National Anthem was the highlight of our night.

Garnie B.

Yelp
Will was our server Attentive, professional and knowledgeable Small plates: Lil Thigh Guys Cauli Bang Bang Meaty Smalls Shrimp Sizzle Was looking for a place downtown before we went to a show at the majestic theater. This place was walking distance from the majestic and we were surprised from the great food and great service. Will was our server and he did a bang-up job for us. He was very attentive, professional and knowledgeable of the menu and options. The concept there is about small plates so we started off with little thigh guys. Then moved to a cauliflower Big Bang and another menu item called meaty smalls and then shrimp sizzle. All of it was really good. Highly recommended. Of course, there's plenty of liquor and beer to choose from at the bar, which I wish I had more time to spend there because the bar was pretty nice. I hope to spend some time there to hang out. Easy to find and plenty of parking around the area. I'll definitely will be back. Well done guys. Well done

Michael B.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this National Anthem. Food: on point. Drinks: give me another. Service: exceptional. Campbell and Adam made the night special, and quite frankly, you don't see enough service like that these days. Thank you. Well done. We love this place. (PS - the butterscotch crème brûlée is a must. Wowza.)

Naim M.

Yelp
Enjoyed our first experience at National Anthem. Getting a reservation was a breeze, as I was able to make one the same day at the last minute. Was a little concerned of this fact at first, but upon dining those concerns went away. Out of everything we had, the mussels were our favorite! The come in a creamy buttery spicy sauce that keeps you coming back with more bread for dipping! We liked the mussels so much that we came back a second time a few weeks after having dinner at another close-by restaurant, just for them! On our first visit, we also tried the fish and chips and steak frites. Unfortunately, the steak came out well done (yuck), instead of medium, but the server quickly resolved it and brought out a fresh plate with everything done correctly. Overall, a good dining option and helps that you can make last minute reservations.

Robyn S.

Yelp
Stopped in for an impromptu bite with my best friend and we were both impressed. We were just looking for drinks and apps but we got excellent service and a place we hope to return to. The cocktails are delicious. Highly recommend their rotating deviled eggs if you're a fan of unique bites. Our server (whose name I didn't catch) was attentive and fun.

Chelsea O.

Yelp
5/5 ambience. It's a cool spot, well decorated. 5/5 service. Very knowledgeable and attentive. Plenty on staff which was great to see. 3/5 food. Deviled eggs didn't have a lot of flavor. The special jumbo shrimp small plate was the best thing I ate, really fresh and not too spicy. My husband loved his burger - huge portion. My salmon was cooked well, but again I wanted it to have more flavor. Will go back and try the burger myself!

Joycelyn H.

Yelp
The location is attractive and the food was good. It was so cold in there which possibly made the food warm and not hot but, the special pasta with added shrimp and overnight short ribs was amazing. Maybe turn the air down a little. I would definitely go back.

TJ W.

Yelp
Great service. Friendly staff. The menu is eclectic, but there's something on it for everyone.... even my picky BFF. I was surprised to like the pig n blankets. We also tried the fries with asada. They were pretty good and as well as the Mac n cheese. Nothing to write home about but a good place for a change of scenery from the regular franchise spots.

Joy M.

Yelp
Came here on a whim on a Sunday evening. It was fairly busy for a restaurant that has been open only for 10 days. I would describe the restaurant as casual fine dining. The ambiance is more casual but the food have flavor profiles that you would get at most fine dining establishments. Every dish was well executed and flavor was definitely not lacking. We had the prime burger (brisket and short rib), Reuben, ribeye asada nachos, vodka rigatoni, pork chop and tuna on a toast. Everyone's favorite would be the vodka rigatoni and we would definitely return for it. I appreciate that the pork chop came on a bed of roasted corn and coleslaw, so you didn't have to pay extra for side dishes to enjoy with your protein. The tuna on a toast seemed pricey at first for $17 but they added enough tuna to make it reasonable. They are planning to add a rooftop to the third floor and a happy hour menu, so definitely can't wait to return for that. Wish parking was a little easier if you are not wanting to valet.

Carlos M.

Yelp
Great spot in Dallas! Great food and service! Happy Hour is great too! If you get a chance, check out the speakeasy around the corner called Gingers. Great drinks!

Cameron J.

Yelp
Whatever sauce comes with the steak frites is enough reason to come. If I tried to describe it I would make it sound horrible but trust it's a great savory sauce. The stroganoff was pretty good. Nothing to die for but that's just how that dish is. The decoration is awesome and a pretty cool location. The waitress was highly professional and personable.

Vanessa D.

Yelp
The food was very good and the service was even better: I'd mentioned to my server Adam that I was staying at the hotel across the street, and after accidentally leaving my credit card at the restaurant...he brought it to the front desk! People don't go above and beyond much anymore in my experience, and I was very impressed and pleased that he took the time to return my card. I'm only in town for the day and who knows when I would have realized it was missing. Thanks Adam, you saved me a lot of grief!!!

Madison D.

Yelp
Overall very cute place. Got the Fish and Chips, Very good just small portion of fish. Only two fairly small pieces of fish, but nonetheless it was very good. The waiters for my table were really nice and made sure to check for any food allergies I had, which they took very seriously.

Meg F.

Yelp
My family ate at National Anthem and loved everything about it! I want to especially shout out our server, Jason, who made it an even better experience with his friendliness, knowledge, and recommendations. The food tasted delicious. You can tell that the chefs take great care to provide amazing food, no matter what dish you order. I can confidently recommend anything on the menu, but I can specifically recommend the pimento cheese spread, the baby back ribs, the crab cake melt, and the crème brûlée as stand outs of our meal. We really liked the atmosphere because of the decor and vibes... You can dress up or keep it casual. I highly recommend!

Princess W.

Yelp
Walked in this restaurant and it was swarming with people on a Friday night; I guess everyone else had the same idea too! Although having reservations, there was a bit of a wait and we were seated near the bar facing the Main Street. This typically wouldn't bother me, but I was wearing a thigh dress and the high top chairs weren't suitable. Outside of that, our waitress was excellent. She was attentive, gave great suggestions, often refilled our waters, and even joked around with us. Let me say, their Mac and cheese was the highlight of the evening . I consider myself a mac n cheese connoisseur and I must say the truffle made it delicious and creamy. My salmon had a nice crispy and flaky texture and thoroughly seasoned how I desire. My significant other loved his steak so it's safe to say this place is worth a visit!

Eric J.

Yelp
VERY SURPRISED! I made a joke with my friend while walking in saying this food is not going to be seasoned good. They shut me right up. Food was amazing even though all I got was the bang bang cauliflower but it was to die for! Loooove me some good saucy cauliflower. The fries were amazing as well and the Old Fashions were on point! Definitely a great restaurant to try!

John D.

Yelp
This was a great little place we just stumbled upon while walking around in downtown Dallas. Good American food. Great flavor, good portions, and nice service. At first glance, the menu may not look too unique, but the food quality, taste, and the service really made this a standout establishment. Stop in and give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Greg K.

Yelp
This is one of those places I always enjoy but is not always top of mind. A guys dinner out on a Monday evening. The restaurant was not full but had energy to make it fun. Food across the board was solid. Drinks good and service efficient and just right. We were made to feel welcome and appreciated throughout. East Quarter is a cool spot with good options and National Anthem fits well into the neighborhood. This is a good spot to be one a regular.

Taylor B.

Yelp
Delicious food and wonderful service! We went for dinner within the first month of their opening with others (6 total). The valet was easy to spot in front and close to the entrance. We had a reservation and we're quickly sat. Our server was prompt, knowledge about the menu and just overall nice. The food included great ingredients and was delicious! Not pictured - the cheeseburger (very interesting - it was a square patty!) super delicious! We also got the deviled eggs. They were classic. I hear they are putting a more casual eatery on the second floor of that building, above the restraunt. And a bar on the roof! We will definitely be back!

Kelly R.

Yelp
Live this location. Always sit at the bar due to the atmosphere! Food is amazing and bartenders are great to talk with. Cocktails are a must and the desserts YUM

Danny K.

Yelp
A beautiful restaurant in the East Quarter in a timeless historic building. The food was delicious and the service was good. Get the bang bang cauliflower but skip the cookies and milk (they're just cookies and Yoo-hoo). My friends enjoyed the fish special and I had fish and chips (fresh and flavorful). My only critique would be the concept of National Anthem and the decor being cliche, non diverse representations of Americana. Feels like a missed opportunity to infuse some authenticity and depth.

Maria S.

Yelp
I'm a corporate trainer and today's challenging class required an after school cocktail and it was delivered at the new addition to the downtown dinner scene at The National Anthem on Commerce. A spicy Blue Daisy cocktail (oh my, how niiiice), and a delish fish and chips! Not too greasy, not too overwhelming, garlic truffle oil on the shoe string crispy fries and even a surpassingly good coleslaw (never been much of a fan of slaw before)! My friend got the rigatoni ala vodka and the sauce and cheese was amazing and it was cooked perfectly! I will definitely be coming back here!!

Steven W.

Yelp
The food was good. The available menu was much different than what is posted on yelp. I had the flat iron steak which was cooked correctly and tasty. It wasn't a premium cut of beef but was priced as such. My daughter had the vodka pasta which was very well done.
