I called the Nedic helpline available yesterday in distress after I gave into overwhelming food cravings and binge ate but when I mentioned I believed I have a physical addiction, the person said that binge eating is an emotional issue and if I think it’s a physical/medical issue to find a doctor and best of luck and rushed me off the phone..I still would have appreciated support.. I think there can be different reasons why someone has an eating disorder..We are not all the same so I’m disappointed that Nedic (or at least the person I spoke with) doesn’t acknowledge this..especially since it was a naturopath who recommended I contact Nedic for food addiction in the first place.. However last year I called and remember speaking to someone else on the helpline when I was distressed after a binge and I remember the lady being kind and supportive and that did help me feel better at the time..

As someone working in the eating disorder field, I rely on NEDIC's excellent services. I frequently refer clients to them in order to get high quality information. When I was struggling with an eating disorder many years ago, I found life saving information through NEDIC. Their conference is an incredible event that brings together professionals from around the world. Staff are caring and knowledgable. Thank you for the work you do NEDIC.

Their website has many helpful resources for all audiences, especially parents and caregivers. Staff on the instant chat were very kind and helpful in providing resources and referrals for a family member seeking treatment.
