The National Museum of Serbia is a must-visit for art and history enthusiasts. Its collection includes a wide range of paintings, sculptures, and historical artifacts. The layout is well-organized, making it easy to explore the exhibits. Staff members are helpful and provide useful information about the displays. Visiting the museum offers a deep insight into Serbia’s rich cultural heritage.

A must in Belgrad. A piece of history of Serbia but also some other art pieces from Picasso, Van Gogh, Matisse, Monet, Canaletto,...Very very recommended. I would go back. Price is fair, security people at the entrance but also the rest of the workers are very nice. I must say they have the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen in my life. Congrats to the cleaning service. So impressive how well taken care of they are. Thursdays entrance is for free. 300 dinars general entrance. No queues at all.

Located in the heart of the city, in the Republic Square, the main entrance is under renovation and the side entrance is open. The first floor features pottery, tools, bronze weapons, and amber jewelry from the Neolithic to the Roman period. The second floor is an art exhibition featuring paintings by Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Gauguin, and other masters. My daughter and I were thrilled to see them. The sculpture of a woman with a veil showcases superb carving techniques. It's definitely worth bringing the kids here; we checked in three times.

Good walk through of the history and evolution of the country and region however overall was underwhelming in its presentation and content. 20th century artworks were interesting especially the beginnings of modern art, the sculptures and the other European artists. They even have a Picasso ( for what that’s worth) Late August 2025 we saw the chariot special exhibition - give it a miss. One room 2 chariots. See my pictures and save your time and money and stick to the permanent collection.

Of course, you can't compare the museum to other big collections. But if you are visiting city center it is really worth to enjoy for two or three hours from the collection of archeology and fine arts. In Sundays the administration is free. If you drive to the city there is big parking garage which is near the republic square i recommend to use it.

Nice, pretty basic, mostly art, museum. Skip the European section, it's nothing you haven't seen elsewhere before, rather the Sebian and Yugoslavian are interesting. Even after, what I hear was extensive, renovation, it's still a very old-school museum. Zero interactive elements, just pure text descriptions, sometimes in small fonts. Accessibility almost zero: There's ads for "invisible art" that can be touched, but I saw only one such piece. No braille, no audio. No accessible entrance, need to call a number to get assistance

Great collection, 2nd floor are paintings from 14-20C with interesting depictions and for the late art trying to feature authors from or in Serbia (great) 1st floor is all about the great history about Serbia. I visited on week day. It’s awesome, not so many people and enjoying the museum quietly. The entrance is in the side not the one facing the saques. Prepare some cash, when I was there the card machine is down, only take cash. Staffs are old and helpful.

If you are interested in historical artifacts you should visit this museum. It is exhibited from different age and culture. Info about artifact is enough. If detailing is important for you, the museum visiting time is 2 hours for you.
