"The youngest in a trio of neighborhood Thai restaurants has closed its doors after 12 years. The National, a sibling to Joya in Cobble Hill and Song in Park Slope, closed without notice to customers earlier this month." - Luke Fortney

I’ve been visiting National for years and am always impressed by the quality of their food. Truly one of the best Thai restaurants in Brooklyn! I frequently order the Pad See Ew or Pad Thai. Personally, I have never had a negative experience as mentioned in some reviews. I strongly recommend visiting National and forming your own opinion - I’m confident it will be worth it!

Perhaps my favorite Thai place in downtown Brooklyn! Food is good, love the atmosphere. It's definitely not the cheapest, slightly more expensive than my other go-to, but it's 100% worth it.

If you don’t know by now I’m a Thai food connoisseur and this place is top tier. I’ve lived in Fort Greene since 97 and seen many places come and go; including my Uncle’s restaurant, Lucien Blue. I’ve walked past National so many times since moving back and I never felt the need to walk in until my Mom said I should because she tried it the last time she visited and loved it. Well folks, mama knows best because they hit the mail right on the head; authentic flavor, exceptional hospitality (the Thai touch) with an interior design that was honest in its minimalism. Please pay them a visit! It’ll be well worth your time.

I will definitely miss this restaurant I hope the owners still see the reviews but the quality of food was unmatched, many Thai restaurants but this one was just different to my wife and I no matter where we ordered or had dinner at they were above and beyond, a beautiful little restaurant in a great spot, beautiful staff as well for the most part. I hope to see you in the near future, definitely will be missed.

SO delicious! Had the spicy noodles, the food was served very quickly, piping hot, casual east atmosphere, extensive menu list. Will definitely come back!

I have to admit , some dishes were alright. For example, I've had better thai summer rolls and calamari elsewhere. But overall, it's ok. Curry and noodles is good. Of course, Friday night is busy. Theres a wait time but service is good too.

Visited more than 3 times and would be going back for more!! A great place for some heart warming Thai food and delicacies. Red curry noodles, spicy noodles, Thai fried rice and Tom Kha soup are a must try. Great place to hangout with friends and family. The ambience is accentuated by the choice of lighting and pretty little tea candles on the table. The place also has a quaint little bar, although never tried the drinks.

My first experience there. It wasn’t pleasant at all, the food presentation was nice. But oh lord, where do I begin? I ordered the mixed seafood with vegetables and spicy green coconut curry with pad Thai noodles. It was terrible. Tasteless. It just tasted like straight up seafood, no seasoning, NOTHING! The sauce was watery, the noodles were just in the middle of the sauce I had to mixed it in. It looks almost like they just threw everything together. They put the sauce on the plate, threw the noddles, then the veggies and seafood. Terrible! Service was horrible. The waitress wasn’t nice nor rude. Would never give them my money again.
