On the Grid : Natraj Dahi Bhalle Wala

"Emerging from the Chandni Chowk metro station, if you follow the mass of humanity taking the 'short-cut' next to a temple, you'll emerge onto the main street of Old Delhi, right next to a small shop with a curiously large crowd. This is the Natraj Dahi Bhalle Wala, operating at this spot since before India's independence and serving up some of the most famous chaat - savoury street food - that Delhi has to offer. The dahi bhalla (deep-fried ground lentil balls served with yogurt) and aloo tikki (deep-fried potato cutlets) are definitely worth the hustle, but you can also climb up to the first floor, where Natraj has table service and a (slightly) more elaborate menu." - Delhi Dallying

The 12 Best Chaat Vendors in New Delhi | Eater

"Dishes in the chaat family typically run hot and spicy, but dahi bhalla is a cooling member of the group, particularly coveted in the capital’s scorching, endless summers. The fried lentil dumplings (also called vadas in South India) are soaked in water to soften before they’re served in thick, slightly sweetened yogurt. On top you’ll find chutneys like saunth and pudina, and with fresh spices for garnish like cumin, chaat masala, and salt. Natraj is one of the oldest artists of the dish, which is a bit of a Delhi specialty, with dumplings that are light and soft, paired with yogurt that’s a cooling balm to the capital’s chaos. The shop is a small counter stuck in a wall in the teeming lanes of Old Delhi, but it’s hard to miss considering the constant crowds outside at all times." - Sharanya Deepak

I tried their famous dahi bhalla, but it didn’t live up to the hype. Since it’s one of the oldest shops (established in 1940) in Chandni Chowk, I expected more. The taste was okay, but not worth the high price. It feels like you’re paying for the name, not the quality.

Dahi bhalla,Alu tikki, Lassi, Uttapam were very tasty... spices and oil not upto the mark.. average quality. Narrow and crowdy street. No cleanliness. Poor service. Rates very reasonable. Only a few items are superb in taste and quality.

If you're in Delhi and craving some authentic street food, Natraj Dahi Bhalla Corner is an absolute must-visit. I tried their Aloo Tikki and the legendary Dahi Bhalla, and both were nothing short of delicious. The flavors are rich, perfectly balanced, and have that classic North Indian street-food punch. This place is always packed. The crowd can be overwhelming, and grabbing your dish from the counter is a bit of a challenge, but trust me, it's one of those places where the chaos adds to the charm.

I tried their dahi bhalla 2 times - both of the times i didn't like them at all. Dahi bhalla was very average, with more than required sweetened curd. Additionally, they even don't use pomegranate seeds to make it appealing and tasty. Their behaviour was also not such welcoming, they seems very cold. Although i don't judge food on this parameter. Price is also somewhat higher i think for only 1 bhalla , if there was 2 bhalla in that dish , then it might justify price, but not the taste although.

The tikki was good but it was very crowded. There was no line and they were not able to control the crowd. Tikki was different and the taste was good and it had no dahi, you can try it out.

The dahi ballas (dahi vadas) are good to hop on. Each plate costs us 70 Rs. The dahi was fresh and the chutney was tasty. The only concern was that the shop is in a very congested area which makes it hard to eat peacefully.

Natraj Dahi Bhalla is famous for its special dahi Bhalla and aloo tikki. They added only red and green chutney & put some special secret masala to make it more flavourful. It's a really mouth watering, economic & light snack. They have a packing system too. You can reach here by public transport & metro as well. The nearest metro station is Chandani Chowk.
