This shop seems to be famous largely because of its location rather than the overall experience it offers.
To be fair, the Dahi Bhalla was genuinely tasty, and the Aloo Chaat was decent. However, the Chole Bhature was extremely disappointing and shockingly overpriced for both the quality and portion. It was honestly the weakest dish on the table.
The experience worsened upstairs. The person sitting at the first-floor counter (possibly the owner) was unpleasant and uncooperative—to the extent that even asking for a tissue felt like an inconvenience to him. The atmosphere upstairs is uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Customers are not allowed to eat chaat there, are expected to dispose of their own plates, and there seems to be some internal tension between the people running the place, which spills into the customer experience.
Despite paying close to ₹500, the service made us feel like we were doing them a favor instead of the other way around. For a place charging premium prices for what is positioned as a “novelty” in the area, this level of service is unacceptable. In hindsight, the money felt completely wasted.
For anyone planning to visit: stick strictly to Dahi Bhalla or chaat from the downstairs counter only. Do not go upstairs. The rude behavior there can easily ruin your mood.
