"Chef Preeti Mistry and Ann Nadeau have closed their Emeryville cafe and restaurant Navi Kitchen, which was known for Indian pizza and playful dishes like tikka masala mac and cheese and fried chicken doswaffles. The restaurant was located in the first floor retail space of a new development at 5000 Adeline Street, the Bakery Lofts, and supported political causes through its menu." - Caleb Pershan

"Chef Preeti Mistry’s Indian pizza-focused casual restaurant at 5000 Adeline Street in Emeryville is losing dinner service and adding back breakfast, a response to her busier daytime and quieter evening hours. Mistry, who closed her Oakland restaurant Juhu Beach Club this spring, is also bringing back some of Juhu’s popular brunch items at Navi, including her doswaffles, a dosa-waffle hybrid creation served with spicy fried chicken." - Caleb Pershan

It was delicious! Wasn't too oily, the toppings were meltingly soft and the crust was crunchyingly crisp.~ Totally worth going for!

Great addition to the neighborhood! I've been here 4 or 5 times already and everything is amazing. It's safe to say the avocado toast is the best I have ever had. A few times the cashiers didn't really seem to know what was going on but I also think they were new (one time was the very first day they opened), so I'm sure that will improve overtime. Oh, and the pizzas are delicious too!

I had the great fortune of trying this place out for dinner the other evening and absolutely loved the entire experience. My first impression from when I walked in was the beautiful color and decor accompanied by upbeat music selection and friendly service. I ordered the kale and lamb pizza along with the Tikki Masala mac and cheese and both were incredible. If you can handle super spicy then add some the house made hot sauce to your mac, it's impressive. How quickly this place has become a new favorite of mine and I can't wait to get back to try out some more!

Food was fine, the place is cute, but the service was terrible. We came on a Sunday morning for brunch and maybe the servers were hungover? They were all definitely spaced out and we waited quite a while to order and then for our food. We also noticed others waiting quite a while and one woman went in to check on her order while we were waiting to order. Plus our breakfast for 2 cost $43! $1.00 extra for almond milk and $1.00 extra for syrup is a bit much.

Been there a few times and my favorites are the time Mac n cheese and lamb pizza. A delight joint with both indoor and outdoor door seating. American food with a bit of fusion and great use of spices. Super savory and umami and perfect with drinks. Great for hanging out with friends or date night

I gotta be honest, there was no way I wasn’t going to be disappointed by this place. They closed Juhu Beach Club ONE WEEK before I moved in next door to it. Now, she’s on a James Beard Book Tour and leaves Oakland with this lunch-only leftovers spot. Grrrrrrr. I wanted to love it, really I did. First off, the lunch crew the day I was there was a little lack luster. You know kinda, ‘only barista on at 6am’ kinda casual. Then, after pondering the pretty limited menu (surprising considering the chef), I decided on a couple things, both were priced pretty high considering the size. I felt it necessary to order two so I didn’t leave hungry. The quality was high and the flavors were as promised, diverse, bold and complimentary. That said, it still wasn’t what I wanted really. The Chai Bacon Burger wasn’t a burger at all but a BLT with no T. It was mostly bun. The Tikka Masala Mac N’ Cheese was decent but, not great and the extra dollar I paid for the hot sauce wasn’t worth it. The belle of the ball, believe it or not, was the chocolate chip cookie I had for desert. I don’t know what was in that thing but, it was damn tasty. TL;DL - Meh, l want my dinner spot back.

Chai was good. We ordered the Gujju pizza and the Pav bhaji pizza. Both were good, not great. I give it three 🌟 only because I don't believe the price of the items is justified. Also, the tikka masala Mac and cheese was a miss. But, my family liked it.

This cafe has a very limited menu. We had Croque Gadame and Tikka Masala Mac. The two dishes were OK, nothing special or memorable. Service was indifferent. Parking is on the street. I would give this place a second try if the menu is expanded.
