A Dolphin-Filled, Tourist-Free Trip to Fiji - AFAR

"A scenic, tea-colored river where boat rides pass families spending the day waist- or neck-deep harvesting mussels and enjoying playful, communal time in the water; scenes include splashing children, fathers tossing seaweed onto kids’ heads, bobbing faces, and loud calls of “Bula” as tour boats glide by. A popular local Saturday activity rather than a crowded tourist stop, the river offers an authentic look at everyday coastal life and informal coastal food gathering." - Tim Chester

Highly recommend. Organise a tour to see this river well. They will take you to waterfalls and also to visit the locals. Make sure you are wearing clothes that are modest for when you are visiting the locals. Be aware of flash flooding which did happen when I was there but was all part of the experience!

We did the Fiji Tours Navua River and Magical waterfall with Village experience. Nim was a fantastic tour guide, and explained many areas of interest to us. The lunch provided by the village is very good, a sample of local culture. Lots of smiles and very welcoming. Weather cooperated for a great morning and afternoon together. About 1.5 hours from Coral Coast resorts. Definitely recommend. Bring water bottle and change of clothes. Water shoes are a must.

Well it's not actually great but if you like a small town where shops are crowded around each other and the public restrooms are far from sanitary..then that's that's your stop..

Nice neighborhood and peaceful surroundings. 45min drive out of Suva city for those who just need a break from the fast city life. Good picnic spots and all facilities are close by

Navua has some of the views in Fiji. Taking the river safari is an amazing idea. There are a lot of beaches there as well. Just a short travel from Navua Town to Pacific Harbor, you can find beautiful resorts and a huge area for picnics. A peaceful and fast developing area such as Pacific Harbor has brought up Navua's name. The Town is crowded but other facilities such as hospitals and schools are situated away from all the crowded places. Vinaka Navua.
