Wine Lovers Should Visit These Greek Islands

"A waterside hotel with a terrace facing the sea where guests are often treated to generous local hospitality and an array of island dishes, including smoky chargrilled prawns served over local grains and fresh tuna topped with bright slivers of pepper and strawberry." - Nina Caplan

Naxian on the Beach (Naxos, Greek Islands) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"You could probably work out from the name that Naxian on the Beach stands on the coast of the Cycladic island of Naxos. What’s only apparent on a closer inspection, however, is that this is an uncharacteristically low-key and laid-back luxury hotel; everything feels rough-hewn, handmade, and the farthest thing from formal, however lavish its comforts may be. The suites are spacious and warm, a pleasant serviced beach lies just outside, and the beachfront bar and restaurant features a menu by a Michelin-starred chef as well as a long list of cocktails and Greek wines." - Tablet Hotels

Naxian on the Beach | Best places to stay in Naxos

"Luxury on the Beach would be a far better name for this adults-only beachfront boutique hotel that feels undervalued by at least one star. It claims its own patch at the southern end of Naxos’s Plaka beach with umbrellas, sun loungers plus waiting service, and it includes a restaurant, Tortuga, that was supervised in its infancy by the late, great Anthony Bourdain. The room decor is all wicker and bamboo southeast Asian chic, the bathrooms are fashioned by polished concrete that feel cavern-like; and the balconies boast sea views over dunes colonised by marram grass. (The rooms on the top floor are the best…) The bus stop to Naxos Town is just outside and taxis are on call 24/7. " - John Malathronas

We were looking for a hotel right on the beach after deciding we wanted to stay at Plaka Beach and were fortunate enough to find Naxian on the Beach. We arrived in Naxos by ferry and had transportation set up to the hotel. Upon arrival we “checked in” at the hotel bar and were greeted by the manager and received a welcome drink and he took time to explain the hotel and local restaurants and other helpful info. We had an upper room with jetted tub and the room was great and clean. The hotel is right on the beach and has cabanas right at the beach we were able to use on beautiful Plaka Beach which wasn’t as crowded as other beaches. The onsite restaurant Tortuga had friendly staff and the food and drinks were wonderful and could also be ordered at the cabanas. One night we also made a short walk to Petrino’s restaurant for dinner and the bus stop and convenience store were close by as well. I would stay at Naxian on the Beach again.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights at the end of September. We rate it 3.5 stars. |5 stars for the excellent cocktails and perfect location onPlaka Beach, 4 stars for overall service, breakfast and food in the restaurant and the helpful and kind staff and 3 stars for the room and facilities.||The rooms were called suites and also called “bohemian” or “minimal” but for us they were sparse and barren with few basic amenities like places to unpack your clothes or toiletries. The safe did not work, water pressure was poor for the rain head shower and the shower was in the jacuzzi tub that was a treacherous deep step to get in and was not very clean.|We loved the location and veranda over looking the beach but not sure we would stay here again.

This property uses amazing photography techniques to make the rooms appear much more upscale than what they are. Reality: sheets are of the poorest quality. The pillows were yellow and stained when the case is removed. The mattress is old and tired with sink holes. The bathroom area had a constant smell of sewage. The location of the bathroom in our room was poor as anyone sitting at the bar/restaurant could see us on the toilet. There is no work space to use a laptop. The internet connection was one step away from dial up. Was unable to stream anything. The jetted tub on the balcony was ice cold. Not a hot tub experience. More of a cold plunge. The staff really tried to be helpful but they were younger and inexperienced with quality service. The food was enjoyable but there needed to be more non meat options. Menu was limiting as compared to other places. Rice pudding is delicious. The beach location is the absolute best. The day beds, lounge chairs and umbrellas made for a wonderful, relaxing time. But when you are paying over $400 a night you expect a better quality room/amenities and appropriate internet. Also they make you cash out on all room charges daily and if you don’t they call your room at 10:30 PM to go to the bar to make payment. I would not recommend this place despite its perfect location and good food as everything else fell extremely short.

We had been traveling for a month in Europe when we landed here. I wish we would have asked our travel agent more questions about this resort. The room was too small. If you stay here ask about the bathroom space incase there are rooms with more space. We couldn’t even fit a toothbrush in the bathroom and had to use the coffee stand to hold all our products which was a pain. They have another luxury resort which we wish we had stayed at. I will say the restaurant attached was delicious and the service was excellent. Very nice staff. Great beach location with service on the beach.

Our stay at this hotel was wonderful from the start. After our flight was delayed due to heavy winds, the staff went above and beyond by welcoming us for a late check-in close to midnight, even though the desk normally closes much earlier. Their kindness set the tone for the whole stay.|The property couldn’t be better situated directly in front of the beach, with what seems like ocean views from every room. The beach club is a highlight: crystal-clear water, plenty of lounge chairs for guests, and a vibrant yet not overwhelming atmosphere even when non-hotel guests visit. It’s also a perfect base for exploring Naxos, whether you want to rent a car to explore the island or stay put and enjoy the resort. Restaurants and grocery stores are just a short walk away, adding to the convenience.|If there’s one drawback, it’s that the rooms could use a little refresh. The potential is there for this to be a true 5-star property. The staff, location, and beach setup already feel A+. A bit of TLC in the rooms would elevate the entire experience, and I’d happily pay a premium for it.|Overall, an incredible stay that exceeded expectations, and I would absolutely return.

Perfect location on Plaka beach. Very fair price off season. Has a Very Bohemian feel. Excellent service in all aspects, they even handled the car rental delivery to hotel for us. Maria is the best concierge. Beach access with drinks service to the beach. Rooms could benefit from an added desk and floor lamp and perhaps a screen door to the hot tub patio to keep the flying bugs out would get this place to 5 stars. Also towels and linens need replaced, but everything was clean. I would return here and also recommend it.

This was a great stay for our quick 2 day visit to Naxos - super quiet and right on the beach, and walkable to amazing nearby restaurants and bars. The beach cabanas were perfect, and the staff even takes your order from your beach chair. There is no reception or front desk per se, however Maria and the staff were more than accommodating during check-in/out and helped us with our bags and finding taxis into town (which we knew would be a challenge). Overall, we loved it and we only wish we had more time to stay here.
