AVOID this hospital at all cost!
My mother was admitted to Nazareth hospital....I was there most of the time for 10 days and what I saw is just hard to believe!
Few "care" details I experience:
One day I came and noticed few pills on a bedside table. Since my mother could not move, all meds should be given to her by the nurse. I took the pills and went to the nurse's station. I asked for the nurse who take care my mother.... I was told she is with another patient... 15 minutes later I was told that she is on another floor... another 15 minutes later I was told she is on a meeting...When I asked who taking care the patients while she is not, I was told that they have somebody. After I insist that I want to talk to this "somebody", the woman I was talking went to the nurse at the computer and whispered something to her, then turned to me and sad that this is the nurse who is covering. When I asked what meds prescribed to my mother and when they were given, I was told that she is only covering and need time to figure this out. When I insist, saying that it should be recorded and she can look it up on a computer, she did, and told me the list of medications and time they (all meds) was given. It was recorded that All meds were given! I show her meds in my hand and ask her why they are on a table... she said that I better talk to the nurse why responsible for my mother. Finally, the "responsible" nurse came to her work station. I guess she was not informed that she was with another patient, on another floor and at the meeting, as she told me that she went out because she needed a break! For the meds, she told me that my mother did not want to swallow them! I understand the possibility that my mother would not swallow, but why it is marked as given????
After more that a week in a hospital, Thursday, late evening, I was told that my mother will be discharge on Saturday. I reminded that Home Care Agency needs to be informed, hospital bed, oxygen tank, lifting equipment etc delivered and installed. I was told not to worry! Next morning (Friday), while driving to the hospital, I received a phone call. I was told that my consent is needed for special IV line for my mother, as she must be on IV medication for 4 days. I was confused, as this totally contradicted what I was told only few hours ago, so I said that I need to talk to somebody to understand what is going on and will be in a hospital in 30 min or so. When I came to the hospital..... I was told that my mother discharged today and I can take her home! I asked about the IV line etc and was told that she can take meds in a form of pills. I went to the room to see my mother. Cardiologist made his rout, and told me that she is not responding to the meds and not getting better. I told him about meds on a table, about "discharging" ordeal, and he was very disturbed by it and sad that he is Not discharging patient in this condition! Few minutes later a man walk in the room and gave me paper to sign for portable oxygen tank to be use while transporting my mother home. He said he got order for it as my mother being discharge!
Few days later, late afternoon I was told again that my mother discharged and I should take her home. I asked If Home Care Agency was notified and all necessary equipment (hospital bed, oxygen tank, lifting equipment) in place. I was told that they not sure about Home Care Agency (I found out later that nobody informed the Home Care Agency), but all equipment delivered and installed in my mother's apartment. I asked few times if she sure and was told that she is as this is stated in the record. I asked to talk to the person who recorded it: I wanted to know how they manage to deliver and install equipment in my mother's apartment while it is locked and nobody is there!
