"The Gerber Group, which is behind Mr. Purple on the Lower East Side, gets another hotel space with the opening of Nearly Ninth inside the Arlo Midtown. It’s open all day for coffee, drinks, and an Italian-leaning menu — all with rooftop views." - Luke Fortney

Totally underrated location. The hotel is brand new and beautiful. The rooftop is a great size and offers nice views from a variety of angles. The prices were reasonable, I think my margarita was $14. The area around the hotel isn’t great but I think that helps to keep this place a hidden gem. We didn’t need reservations (for 2) but as more people learn about this place I’m sure that will change.

We had a late lunch here while staying at the Arlo, the view was great and the food was good enough to kill our hunger for a few hours. It is a limited menu, but there’s something for everyone. We had the house cocktail and it was delicious!

Our experience at Nearly Ninth was amazing!! Prior to arriving we had a place on their terrace reserved, thought we hoped to get a spot on their rooftop! Although the night was extremely busy, the manager and staff worked around their busy reservation schedule and was able to get us on the rooftop for a bit! We had a great start to our night and the drinks and view were phenomenal!! Looking forward to returning in the future and recommend to any visitor.

The manager (short man with glasses) seemed to talk to his employees a bit rudely. Also when we went to pick up our food he made the (busy) bartender stop what he was doing to close our tab rather than helping us himself. A great team starts with leadership. Just saying. BUT the bartenders were great!! Loved our drinks and the food was good!

Don't come here. We had made reservations a week in advance and when we arrived expected to be sat at a normal table. This place is more of a hotel lobby bar/lounge and they shouldn't serve more than small bites. When the hostess sat us, she walks us 2ft from the front door and asks us if this is okay. It's a large communal table like at Starbucks with people working on their laptops. We asked for an actual table and the hostess looked through the restaurant and said all the tables are full with hotel guests because I guess it's all open seating and there isn't really a need for a hostess. The service wasn't great. The server wasn't friendly and didn't give anything extra to her job besides taking orders. She would disappear for 15-30 minutes at a time and was almost impossible to wave down. We started with drinks, the pretzel and the calamari and those were great. Once our main dishes came out they left something to be desired. Food was bland and nothing special. Unless you're staying in this hotel, I would probably avoid this place for food.

Incredible views of the city set on an intimate rooftop. The only downside to the evening was the service. Our server seemed uninterested and detached. It took her about 10 minutes to come take our order and then when we were done and wanted another she was no where to be found. We sat for an additional 20 minutes and finally gave up and went to the bar to close out our tab. For context the rooftop has quiet on a Thursday night with only a few tables say. It's a shame because we would have grabbed another round of our server was more attentive. What frustrated us was that the 20% gratuity is already included (always tip 20% anyway), I think by having this 20% automatically included it gives the servers the ability to under perform with no threat to their tips. Really wish the service matched the ambiance, because it would be my favorite rooftop in NYC.

I arrived at the bar around 5:45pm and asked the bartender if it was still happy hour. They said "yes, it is," and I responded by telling them I was glad I made it in time because I was looking forward to getting some cocktails. Online I had read (mistakenly) that cocktails were $10 during happy hour, so I was intending on spending about $25 with tip. I looked at my receipt when it was time to sign for my payment, and I had been charged over $42 for two tiny cocktails. I felt like it was super pretentious and inconsiderate to not remind/warn me that the specific cocktails I ordered were not included in happy hour, and to just continue making them right in front of me. They were delicious, but I had an awful taste in my mouth because it seemed so outrageously expensive.

Went there for an evening of acoustic music at the hotel. It was a nice intimate setting, we had a great time. Drinks in the bar were mixed poorly for the price, and the mandatory 20% gratuity and then the tax, made it ridiculous for the quality of drink you get. I know that's the city, but this was by far the most expensive for what we got. The artists we saw that night were actually 5+ stars, so we give the whole experience 3.
