Yelp
Neighborhood spot that doesn't really live up to its cocktail bar name. Maybe we came on a bad day or it was the wrong bartender, but the cocktails were a miss during this Saturday pre dinner drink.
Seemed to have comfy, cozy dim booths and bar seats but almost a little divey with the level of stickiness at the bar. Not an big issue if the cocktails were up to par, but none of the menu cocktail were super interesting or along the lines of any classics. Again, all fine if the drinks were actually decent.
We went with more classic choices for the price - penicillin and ever oolong which was a riff on an old fashioned with, you guessed it, oolong tea.
Hardly a hint of tea and honestly overhyped for the description that I received. A little more trial and error to get it right or the bartender should have tried both the drinks before serving. The penicillin was downright terrible tasting only of lemon and not in a good way. We like ginger, honey and an actual nice float of Laphroig which is what we're always looking for in a penicillin / why we order it. We were able to send it back which we've never done in our lives. However, bartender shot off the unprompted comment to my partner "you must not like scotch, huh?". He may not have intended to come off as rude but he did anyways. We enjoy many liquors, especially scotch and whiskey, neat. Talk about leaving a bad taste in your mouth.
This was way too long for a bad review. TLDR - don't come here if you're looking for a cocktail bar, it's a neighborhood spot for overpriced drinks that aren't that good. Stick with drinks on the rocks or neat as they do have a good selection of whiskies and tequilas.
