Mérida, Mexico, Is a Favorite Travel Destination Among Locals — How to Visit

"Industrial-chic in design and split over two floors, the open-plan Nectar focuses on seasonal ingredients to create a menu of sensational, haute cuisine (think: foie gras and duck ravioli, charcoal onions, and a burnt Basque cheesecake served with truffle ice cream)." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Absolutely fantastic food, drinks and environment. Staff were fantastic and the overall experience was great, we will certainly visit again!

This is a high end gourmet restaurant specializing in uniquely crafted Yucatan food. In other restaurants in Merida, we had dinner for four with a round of drinks for between 2K to 3K pesos including a 14% tip. This restaurant ran us about $250 US with a tip, so higher than the others. But a similar type of restaurant in the US would have been double. Our server spoke very good English and was great at explaining all of the dishes and answering questions. Service was not rushed. They also had quite a wine list, which I had not seen in other restaurants in Merida. The restaurant was modern and something I might expect in a high end part of town in a major US city. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures.

Perfect experience from the minute we walked in! The only thing better than the food, was the service. Jorge was attentive and knowledgeable. He made the evening a great first experience for us. Had the 5 course tasting and was immediately impressed by all the flavors and textures.

The food and its presentation was creative here and the flavours were very good. All 4 of us had different main course dishes. Short ribs were excellent, fish of the day was also excellent. The lamb burger was ordered well done, but it was still quite pink inside.... But the flavours were very good. My pasta dish with truffle oil was delicious, and just the right amount. The appetizers were okay, but we all felt the desserts were just excellent! My partner said it was the best dessert he'd ever had in Mérida. There was a very limited selection of red wines the evening we were there, and we're thinking there was a problem with the air conditioning because it was terribly hot and they had a fan running. It was a great dining experience overall.

This was to be my third Roberta Solis restaurant during my family vacation in Merida this week. Our first night we ate at TULIA. New Years Eve we had the $5k/person tasting menu at Huniik. Tonight we were to have the tasting menu at Nectar - a reservation booked weeks ago with a confirmation. Tonight they said they could find no reservation and despite having the confirmation they said there was nothing we could do. So skip this place and eat at Oliva. Amazing food (the osso Gucci one of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world). What a disappointment on the last night of our vacation.

My boyfriend and I had an incredible time at Nectar. David was our waiter and he was more than fantastic. We both had the 7 course dinner. I had the lamb, and he had the quail. Both were delicious. Our favorite was the mamey sorbet desert. Perfect portions, atmosphere, and staff. Thank you Nectar for a beautiful date night!

It's a fairly small restaurant that feels pretty intimate. The lighting is just right to go on a date. Their local flavors and signature dishes are worth the visit even if you are a foodie with very high expectations. I'd recommend you try the black onion rings (tempura style fried onions seasoned with recado). I would also recommend the pork belly tacos. Their home made tortillas and black bread are delicious!

Had the 7 course set menu but swapped out the pork chop for the picanha special, which was amazing. The final dessert was some weird garlic experimental thing that was disgusting but overall the course was really good.
