Nectari

"Chef Jordi Esteve endows his innovative cuisine with the exquisite nuances that locally sourced ingredients (he works closely with small-scale producers) bring to his dishes. The tasty cooking on offer in this centrally located restaurant with a distinct “barrio” feel is always focused on the seasons and is best represented on his tasting menu, where you’ll find courses such as foie and eel and the superb seafood “bisque” with prawn tartare." - Michelin Inspector

I was absolutely blown away by the food at Nectari! My husband and I dined here, and our dinner lasted about two hours, during which we were continuously served new and exciting dishes. Each one was unique, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious. The service was outstanding. At the beginning of our meal, the staff asked if we had any food allergies or intolerances. I mentioned that I don’t eat gluten, and they went out of their way to bake fresh gluten-free bread just for me—such a thoughtful touch! The staff was very attentive and noticed that my handbag was quite large and had no place to rest. Without hesitation, they brought a special attachment to hang it on the table. I did notice that some waiters didn’t speak English very well, but when I asked them to try, they put in a great effort, which I really appreciated. The flavors of the dishes were deep and complex, making for a truly special dining experience. The only small downside for me was that some dishes were a bit too spicy, which sometimes overpowered the flavors. Overall, we were completely satisfied and left feeling full and happy. I will definitely return to Nectari—it’s a must-visit for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Barcelona!

Wine was really delicious. Food was nice, however, the complementary egg with truffle starter was very salty. Also, we ordered a portion of cannelloni which meant to be 2 of them so the waitress offered 1 portion and a half. When we received the bill, we were charged 75€ for 3 single cannelloni which we considered extremely expensive for what we got (photo attached). The service was nice, but when the waiter approached to us to order. We advised that we were not sure what to order as one of us did not eat seafood, the waitress next to him jumped to our table and said that we needed to order as the kitchen was gonna close which was a bit rude. Lastly, you are charged for the “complementary” starter and sweets when you haven’t asked for it.

I went here, and I have to say it was completely and totally average. When I heard Michelin star, I thought my socks were going to be blown off, but I was incorrect. The service was pretty good, as well as the dessert, but I was disappointed in the food. It was all very one dimensional and quite basic. Possibly it was just the menu del día today, but I didn’t love it. I hope you guys strive to be better, and reach for the stars.

We had a business lunch on 28 Feb, lucky to make this reservation due to surging demand during MWC, love the ambience. I tried the basic tasting menu with wine included, everything is surprisingly great, each bite opens a whole universe, it is definitely a great choice for special occasions.

First class restaurant. Never disappoints. I had the lunch menu served on weekdays. For 39.5 euros (drinks are not included) it is a real bargain. Highly recommended.

We dropped by Nectari for lunch thanks to Luciano’s (Prodigi) recommendation and it was such a good! We opted for the tasting menu, I had everything as it was but the folks swapped out the deer for a fish. And before we started on our Nectari journey, Chef Jordi came out to chat, he was lovely, sharing snippets of his career & throughout the lunch, he was very generous & accommodating. The menu we had at 85€ consisted of: 1.) Appetisers & Bread 2.) Foie & Eel - this was so good and I scooped up the remaining with the bread. 3.) Seafood Bisque 4.) Catch of the day with shaved truffles - the broth was rich and tasty, we finished every last bit. 5.) Deer Tenderloin - I was a little hesitant at first but after the first bite, I knew I made the right choice by sticking to this option and not changing it out to the fish. 6. Selection of cheese - what was unique about this was the goat cheese soaked in whiskey to get that darker shade of yellow. It was good! 7.) Pre-Dessert: Iced pineapple soaked in pomegranate juice, this was absolutely refreshing! 8.) Dessert - this was fun and interactive! We had “mustard” (mango) and “tomato” (pomegranate) sauce to drizzle on top of our dessert burger. 9.) Petite Fours - last but definitely not the least, the milk chocolate bon bons was a decadent finish.

Fantastic place for a high quality lunch menu. Creative combination from the pre starters to all the diferente dishes. The staff is caring and treat you to feel home. Jordi, the chef and his wife Ikram, are just pure food love. Ask Ikram for her secret cavas as Meravellous from Cava Jaume Giro.

Had lunch there with a business partner. Good service but waiters maybe a bit too close to the tables all the time. We felt interrupted in our conversation too often. It made me feel uncomfortable. Food was nicely presented and ingredients seemed of good quality (we had seabass and a steak tartare and both dishes were good) but you have to like modern cuisine by a chef experimenting with flavours and colours and be ready to put the price for such a “mise en scène” if you want to leave the restaurant happy.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I've had and that holds a lot of weight considering how I've dined all around the world. The food was exceptional and was pleasing to the senses such as visual, taste, smell and texture. At the end of our dinner, the chef came to greet us and had a little chat. Absolutely amazing! Highly recommended by me!

Yelp
Had lunch here back in January 2018. I was actually surprised to get a reservation here since I booked it only a few days in advance which is usually impossible for a Michelin star restaurant. The presentation for each course was phenomenal. At the end, Chef Jordi Esteve came to my table for a quick chat. Fortunately, his English was a lot better than my Spanish lol. Pro tip - they do have English menus!

Yelp
I had lunch at Nectari, one of my places to go when I visit Barcelona. For lunch there is the option to eat a la carte, to get a tasting menu, a menu designed for celiacs or have the lunch menu (39 euros). I chose this option and was not disappointed. I especially enjoyed the salmorejo (a similar dish to gazpacho) and the shrimp paella. Both were superb. The rice had a lot of taste, the taste of the shrimp was really upfront, truly enjoyable. The restaurant is beautiful, intimate and elegant. The service very knowledgeable and friendly. Nectari is a hidden gem, a place were food departs from tradition, but that is wisely enhanced with interesting product combinations, and not superfluous games of gastronomic experiments. I will keep going every time I am in Barcelona.

Yelp
The most amazing dining experience I have had! We visited in May 2016 while staying in Barcelona for a few days. From start to finish, our experience was just perfect. The waiters were attentive but not overbearing, offering helpful recommendations while keeping the noise level to a minimum. The food was heavenly, especially the desserts, which were unbelievably tasty and creative looking. The dining experience started with small appetizer bites sent by the chef, each very different. Then you order your main dish and dessert off the menu. They had the longest wine list I've ever seen (see photo of giant book) and a good variety of dishes. I would go back a thousand time if I lived in the area. All in all, prices were affordable for a Michelin Star Restaurant. Our bottle of wine was under 30 euros and the total bill was under 200 euros for 2 people. Not bad at all! Note: your waiter will call you a cab upon request. I left my cell phone in the bathroom and returned later to find my phone waiting for me at the door. Can't say enough great things about this place!

Yelp
A Michelin star well deserved. It's a smaller restaurant with great intimacy. Do the tasting menu! Get the wine pairing for sure...each was perfect! The fish and goat courses were particularly delicious!!!

Yelp
Before my review I want to be clear of my intent, which is to help any restaurants that I review improve. So here we go ... My family was here maybe a week ago. We had their lunch set course. There were a few dishes that stood out as needing improvement. First was a green puré soup dish. It has a strange sour note and the dish was very "muddy" tasting. I think the acidity was meant to cut through the muddiness and I encourage the chef to rethink the approach. The main dish was the ox tail, which was really salty and without any other flavors. What I really desired was the umami plagues you get with a good piece of red meat. The garnish of mushrooms tasted as if they were just boiled in unseasoned water, a reminder that detail counts. Lastly, don't bring deserts stacked on top of each other. Visually unpleasing and is just not good service. Jordi, you have the start of something wonderful. I hope you the best and continue to improve!

Yelp
Nectari is clearly a step above other restaurants in Barcelona. We were there on a Wednesday, and had the earliest seating (as Americans do) at 8:30. For the first hour or so, we had the restaurant to ourselves. The decor and atmosphere of Nectari is intimate. It is a small restaurant, but the cuisine and the service are excellent. Each course was balanced, and the tastes were often explosive. The foie gras with sparkling sugar on top comes to mind. The wine was delicious too. It was one of the best meals we have had. A word about the service, which was excellent. If you're looking for a restaurant that is over the top with service, this is not it. That's because the service was perfect: attentive, without being over-bearing. Great recommendations; warm and inviting, without being overly familiar. Just perfect. At the end of our meal, we got to meet the owner and chef. What a great way to end our evening. We will be back.

Yelp
Well deserved Michelin star. Very cosy and relaxing environment with incredible service all around. Go for tasting menu - it is an experience , we did with wine pairing and with most wines being exclusively done for the chef by vineyards he visited it felt just above our expectations. The Chef and his imaginations are incredible and he does make sure to hear what u think - he comes out to speak if it is smth u enjoy - we did! Portions are typical of tasting menu at this level but presentation is original and modern. Cousine is modern Mediterranean with incredible fusion of the world flavors - anything from Asian spices to French haut cuisine sauces for the best red meat to have in Barcelona. Bottom line - it is special occasion place if u do tasting menu - if in doubt - just do it as it is just incredible representation of what Restaurant capital of Europe can offer. We live here and In New York and yet this place has left a mark to be easily in top 5 of all the best around the world.
