"If speakeasies were part of the Olympics, Needle & Thread would win a gold medal. To get in, you have to make a reservation online, enter through Tavern Law (their sister bar), and pick up a vintage phone in the back corner. After you do that, someone will unlock a door that leads to a rickety staircase, and finally, up to an antique parlor. There’s no menu, but trust the expert bartenders to make you something with the ingredients of your choice. We’ve had everything here from a spritz made from a type of pomegranate Campari and raspberries to a classic daiquiri with banana and cinnamon bitters. Unlike Canon, Needle & Thread is easy to get into—so it can be more than a once-in-a-lifetime experience." - Aimee Rizzo

Dont come here if you want you stuff done when they tell you it will be or dont want your clothes to fall apart. I needed a dress done for a wedding, they told me it would be done in 2 weeks, not problem, i came back on the day they told me and my dress and not even been started. When I asked why it hadnt been dont they tried to say they werent going to do it all, then changed their minds again and told me to come back in another week. I came back and got it and the dress fell apart the first time I tried it one. I had to go purchase a differnt one for the wedding. Save a lot of time and your money and find somewhere else to go.

I had to do a rush order 2 times (3 garments each visit) & each time they were able to get it done for me within 2 hours. They do a great job with hemming & tailoring. I had a pair of slacks that was enormous on me & they were able to fit me within 3 mins & did a great job when I received it back a week later (I told them that I didn't need it anytime soon). They are very accommodating. Don't let the exterior of the venue fool you, the people who work there have a big heart in their field of expertise & produce quality products.

I left my clothes for 3 weeks. I drove from Summerville to pick them up on the “promised date”. They had not begun. I wasted my time and gas. Refund with “no idea” on when I would receive my funds back. Hope others have better luck.

Very friendly staff. Did a good job altering but it was not cheap, $65 to have a dress hemmed (would have been free at Nordstrom Rack but their alterations person was on vacation and I needed it done). The dress was finished late in the day (after 2PM) on the pickup day.

I’ve been going here for some time for alterations; however, August 2018 will serve to be my last time to do business with Needle & Thread. I will continue to suggest to others to give their business elsewhere. In light of a business trip in August, I was promised my need for professional attire would be altered 2 days before take-off. Upon arriving, they had only started the first of the three garments requesting I come back the next day for pick up; meaning my order would be rushed to get done and therefore, lacking to professional standard. I would not have time the next day for pick up; therefore, I requested a discount in light of now having to go out and buy additional clothing to serve my need on the business trip. I was offered a $1 or $2 off the entire bill which was not acceptable. Upon my return, I requested the manager’s number to find a compromise before paying the due amount. After multiple phone calls to the establishment, voicemails and even voicemails to the owner’s phone a couple of times, I received no contact or updates over the last four months; only an update over two months later that my order was ready for pick up. This is a bad way to do business. Due to their broken promise, I was forced to stress shop that very day and spend over $100 to accommodate the needs of my trip. With no apology or discount in picking up my order up today in my desire to finish my 2018 “To Do” list, I am wiping my hands of this place of business and encourage you to do the same unless you are okay with the lack of professionalism, organization and not putting the customer and their needs first.

I stopped by to get new stripes on my blues uniform for a promotion ceremony happening short notice. They sewed on 4 stripes on a blues coat and shirt for $16 and it was done like 16h later. Really fast service for cheaper than our own base tailor.

Needle & Thread are amazing. I had a motorcycle vest that I needed done in a pinch and they had fast turnaround and their work was impeccable.. Looking forward to doing more business with them in the near future and also sending referrals their way.

They ruined my brand new leather skirt because the young man working there had not pinned it properly. When I went to pick up the skirt I luckily tried it on & showed the woman who probably owns the shop & asked her to correct the problem. She agreed & told me that it would be ready in a week. To make a long lousy story short, I had to return 3 times after the first time to finally get the skirt back & even then, the job wasn't finished. They turned an a-line skirt into a pencil which I never asked them to do. I paid $50 for the skirt to be altered & had to make 4 trips to her shop in N Charleston, which is not a short ride from where I live off Bees Ferry Rd. in West Ashley. She does not conduct her business in a honorable way. A word to the wise, don't pay up-front.

Yelp
I don't recommend this place I had them take in my bridesmaids dress for a wedding I was in and it was horrible first, I'm not sure what she took in because the dress was still too big on my waist and hips. As for the shoulders one side was tight and the other too big, and the collar was sewn into the dress on one side, it was just a MESS!!!! ITS time for them to CLOSE!!!!! Yet they want you to prepay for the service. Go somewhere ELSE!!!!!

Yelp
I've take expensive button down shirts to be fitted. Once I picked them up and took them home to try on they were the same. Clearly they had been sewn, but they were not fitted. I've taken a few back for round 3 of alterations and the owner wanted to charge me all over again. Really?!! I strongly advise against taking anything you want fitted here.

Yelp
The seamstresses there has been doing this a long time, it seems. Highly recommend the service done here. I have taken uniforms and suits here for years and I continue to do so because of the quality of work. I will say, I had a suit done and the waist was done wrong at first even though the ticket was written up correctly for how I wanted. The issue was quickly resolved within an hour and the suit was good to go. Again, highly recommend for being your regular seamstress!

Yelp
For a business that requests payment up front I am very displeased with the results that I have received from this business. Nothing is ever done on time and I find myself not noticing any difference in the way my items were prior to getting the alterations done. Not to mention random price adjustments made every time I go there. Please avoid them at all cost.

Yelp
I took a dress to get hemmed for a wedding this weekend. I paid for the alteration and was told to pick it up today. They close at 6, I got there at 4:30, and the owner said it isn't done?! I would not recommend this business.
