Neehee's Indian Vegetarian Restaurant

I’ve been going to Neehee’s for the past 4 years since it opened during the pandemic area and used to be a huge fan of the restaurant. Went for the first time in a while and it massively disappointed me. The food was flavorless and bland. The ingredients felt very low quality and it just felt like the staff was just making the food from an instruction manual rather than actually trying to make it better. For example, the paneer parathas tasted like cardboard, felt frozen and paneer felt taped on instead of baked. The butter on the side was very cold that it just came from the fridge. Extremely disappointed, management needs to do better in offering authentic and fresh food. It used to be my favorite restaurant whenever I come back to Troy and now I don’t think I’ll ever go again.

Always been to Canton location, it was my first time at Troy one. Great service, very fast, wide range of varieties to try and as always clean and maintained place. Dosa was good, chat dishes were little on sour side, although great food joint to enjoy street style Indian dishes Plenty of dine in tables.And prices are on lower side as compared to their portions.

We had high hopes for Neehee's in Troy, given their reputation for vegetarian street food, but our experience fell a little short. While the presentation of the dishes was nice and the menu offered a lot of variety, the food itself didn’t quite hit the mark, especially considering the price. The Masala Dosa looked great with its crisp, golden exterior, but the flavor was pretty bland. The chutneys and sambar didn’t have the punch or depth we were expecting, and the potato filling was just okay—nothing memorable. The Poori Bhaji was another miss for us. The pooris were fluffy and well-made, but the potato curry felt like it was missing something—spices, seasoning, or just more flavor. It felt underwhelming, especially for the price. The Stuffed Paratha was probably the best of the bunch, with a nice buttery texture and decent stuffing, but even that lacked the bold, spicy kick we associate with good parathas. The sides of yogurt and pickle didn’t add much to the experience either. One of the biggest disappointments was the pricing. For vegetarian food, we expected more value for the cost. The portions weren’t particularly generous, and the flavors just didn’t feel like they justified the high price tag. Overall, while Neehee’s has an interesting concept and a fun menu, the flavors didn’t wow us, and it felt overpriced for what we got. It’s not a bad spot, but we left feeling like it didn’t quite live up to the hype.

Wonderful 1st time experience. A member of staff was very helpful as I am not familiar with Indian food nor is my Brasilian wife.

Food was great and the service was super quick. The staff was super knowledgeable on all the dishes and helped me order without any rush. My personal favorite is Chole Bhature (Chickpea curry with a puffed bread) and Dahi Pani Puri (yogurt and tamarind street snack)

Awesome ambience and very spacious. Has lot of vegetarian options with live jalebi counter on Saturdays. I haven’t explored the full menu here yet but I had Manchuria which was spicy and good. The spice levels are equivalent to indian spice levels.

Neehee’s is way too overpriced other than the specials. Today we ordered a paneer grilled sandwich. It is no longer the old times sandwich. It was full of some kind of cheese that was stinky. I could not eat it. Such a waste of $16 for a sandwich. I will not be ordering again. So disappointed

New update: i have been going to Neehes for the past few months but in recent times the food is not so good, especially the south indian food like dosa, idly is very bad. Only the chat items, Chinese items are good. Good variety of food options but the Rose falooda is not as expected, Gobi Manchurian is good. i have stopped going, I'm not going to this restaurant in recent times.

as always Neehe's standard of food quality is great. cleanliness of the facility and taste of dishes are yummy. combo offer is mouth watering and a money saver for the value.

Excellent food. Vegan and gluten free. I know they source food from same place and preparation is identical between locations but I still think for some reason that this location has better food quality and tastes more authentic as compared to one in Canton. I had opportunity to try Pav Bhaji, Chole Bhature, pani puri, Dahi puri, alu paratha and Samosa chat from both location just one day after another twice. I would definitely recommend to try it if you're fan of chaats. Dahi puri is my go to. Bhature have become less oil over the years. Pav bhaji is nice and so is puri bhaji. I am not a fan of sambar here, even if I get dosa, I stick to masala dosa and eating chutney and bhaji. Dabeli is also a good option. Mango lassi and Faluda are great but very sweet, if you're on diet, skip it. As of 2024, they have launched lunch combos which is a great business idea and so is for customer. You can try a meal and chat item for $15 with some dish restrictions. Wait time is usually around 30-45 minutes on busy Saturday evening, other than that day it's pretty manageable. Service staff is very friendly and even in busy times they'll make sure you have a good experience. They could use some more parking, gets really busy on weekends. Place is clean and has sufficient seating.

Always busy- a good sign in my opinion. Staff is helpful, quick, and efficient. Great with offering suggestions and listening to what you like and you don't like. It's definitely a family setting, lots of long tables and trays for meals. Though, it also makes grabbing a spot to sit difficult if you're not with your family. I have had a number of items here but my personal favorites have been chana marsala and the cut mirchi.

I ordered the falloda and that was just water with color in it, I never tasted that bad thing in my life. very disappointing and if there is a option to give -ve Star , I may give -10000000 . they should stop this at once.

Food is great, it's a nice quick option if you're in the mood for desi food. The food is consistently good, no issues with the orders and the food tastes fresh. Flavors are amazing. Portion sizes are made to share, we usually buy everything with family style sharing in mind. Service is ok, depends on the day. Highly recommend the sugar cane juice!

This was my first time here and I really enjoyed it! I got my go-to appetizer: samosas! They were fresh, hot, and very tasty. 10/10 For my main I got the spicy dosa. My girlfriends that I was with were jealous. It's a pretty impressive looking meal. The dips were all very well seasoned and the dosa wa the perfect combination of crispy and soft. 10/10 The gentleman taking our order was so sweet with our one friend who doesn't like spicy and rarely eats Indian food. He also made sure we liked our dishes. Service 10/10 You might be wondering why if I have the food and service at 10/10 that they only got 4 stars...the atmosphere. I felt like I was back in my college dorm cafeteria. It was so boring. The outside of the building was so colorful I was excited to get inside and sit down. Highly disappointed. The space is huge and the possibilities are endless, yet they chose to do virtually nothing.

Good food and fast service. Good for dining in groups and their ordering process is simple and easy. Prices can be a bit cheaper. Falooda is so-so. Pav Bhaji and dosa are good. If you order food at closing time, recommend avoiding the coconut chutney as it goes stale.

The food was delicious! As close to Indian street food that we've found here. Fast service and clean, spacious dining area.

The place is spacious and clean ... didn't know anything on the menu but the lady at the counter helped us a little to find sth we would like ... For me it was a little spicy the sandwich but it was worth the flavor. One of the amazing things I liked about this place is it color codes the main ingredients in the food and if he contains nuts or not...

This is quite a different Indian food experience for me as it's not focusing on curries, roti, and biryani like most other places I've been to. Instead, here they have Pakodas, chaat, indo-chinese dishes, and some southern stuffs like Dosa and Idly. The menu was SO huge that it might take a while to go through all of them and figure out what you want. Everything looks really good too! On a side note, they are completely vegetarian (and also vegan-friendly). No meat here, but seriously you won't miss it here. I ended up with Gobi 65 and Idly Chaat. Chaat is a traditional savory snack sold as street food. The flavor to me is a combination of sweet and tangy with a hint of spicy that is really refreshing. It plays with a lot of texture too, which enhances the eating experience. I learned today that Idly is some sort of steamed "cake" made of rice flour and lentil flour, which is a staple breakfast item in the South India. The Idly chat is made of deep fried idly cubes mixed with tamarind chutney, mint-cilantro chutney, yoghurt, and garnished with sev and boondi for that extra crunch. It was really good! I was informed that Gobi 65 is a recipe that came from the army, specifically barrack 65. I don't know in details how it was born, but regardless this is something very easy to love, even by non-vegetarian. It's a crispy fried cauliflower tossed in spicy and incredibly aromatic sauce. It's so filling and delicious you won't mind skipping few chicken dinners for this. price is very reasonable. The place is spacious and there's a lot of table to sit in. It is self serve--you order at the counter and they give you a beeper that will buzz when your order is ready for pick up. In addition to all the tons of food selection, they also have ice cream and interesting beverages. Whether you're a vegetarian or not, do give this place a shot!

This review is about our latest experience at Neehees Troy on 7/29/2023. We had ordered Raj Kachori without yogurt and they served it with yogurt added. When we asked the staff to change the order, they very rude and said we needed to check the order before leaving the counter. Do you note down all tweaks to orders on the receipt? Should we check for any and all tweaks to our order by reading an essay on the counter? We did check for the number of items and their names. How will we know that we have to check for all details? And instead of preparing another order with no yogurt for us, your staff rudely dismissed us and told us we could order another one properly if we didn't want this one! Is politeness too much to ask for from the hospitality industry???? We have been coming to Neehee's for years now and this is the treatment we get? Really really disappointed with this!

This is an update to my review from this summer. The food here was amazing, but I'm not sure what's going on lately. The tables were dirty the last time I dined here, and every single item we ordered was bland. The Kesar Pista Falooda was the worst I've had and the four other people I ate with didn't even want the drink. I'm not sure if the quality of the food went down due to more people dining here, but this is unfortunate since it was one of my favorite Indian snack places.

We've been going here for years, the food is always fantastic and the service is fast. We eat in or get carryouts. They have sooo much to choose from on their menu/ and everything is delicious. My kids like it too- it's a fun place with delicious food.

Ambience was good. Food was alright. Loved the chai. Staff was pleasant and polite. Quite some variety to choose from. Would go again.

Great food. I recommend the chole bathura. Mango lassi is not bad either. Good comfortable food :)

The chai here was the worst, when I told the manager he showed some sort of arrogance. The concoction of the flavors added in the chai was so bad, a 5 year old kid would make a better chai.

Loved the food! I regret not taking pictures but the food is so good here. A self service place which has thalis, South Indian food, chaat options and Gobi Manchuria which is street style is so so good (the best I have had so far in the US). Apart from the Manchurian, loved the masala dosa, crispy and tasty. Chole bature was good, Papdi chaat was good and their gujarati thali is so filling and delicious. Highly recommend if you are in Michigan and want to try Indian food!

When I'm back in Michigan, I always make time to get dinner at NeeHee's -- there's not another place I'm excited to dine in, both to have stuff I've liked previously or try something new. You truly won't go wrong with anything. And since sharing is caring, it's best to come with a big group so you can order a bunch of things and enjoy. Be sure to leave room for ice cream because they have flavors like rose!

Wow!! I can't believe it took us so long to check out NeeHee's- but given it's proximity to one of our all-time favorite Indian restaurants, sometimes it's challenging to try something new- but Man, am I glad we did!! NeeHee's is delicious!! With such an expansive menu, we tried the large combo platter and the Bombay Veg Grilled Sandwich - both were amazing! We can't wait to go back- we definitely have a new fave!! P.S. I left my phone in the car so I didn't get a photo, but the presentation is also excellent!!

Staff is rude and arrogant. Ordered dosa. Realized after couple of bites from outside It was almost raw in the middle part. When took it to them to complain- the guy on counter said," why did you eat in the first place if it was raw." Not admitting and very rude. Will never go again to this place.

Neehee's is a to go spot when I decide to have indian chaat food items. Canton is the place usually I go and this time stopped in Troy to visit this location. Bigger place than one in canton. One of my favorite is samosa ragda which is always I order. Along with that had Gobi manchurian, Pani puri, chole bhature. Pani puri and samosa ragda of course as usual and it's amazing. Gobi manchurian the pieces are bigger and would be better cooked if pieces are small. Usually I prefer not to have other items than chaat. But even then as we tried onion rawa dosa and not happy. Not able to feel the crunchiness of rava. I will stop for chaat in neehees because that what I look for here

Neehee's came as a great recommendation from a friend. Whether dining in or taking out, I've never been disappointed. The service. The people are very friendly and always offer great recommendations when I'm feeling undecided. There's so many great foods to enjoy! The food. For me, food is akin to memories. Whenever I enjoy a meal, it reminds of my time in India and the friends that I made. Every meal is flavorful and well-portioned. My favorites are the samosa, Bombay Grill, and Pani Puri. My daughter loves the Srikhand Puri and of course the Mango Lassi. If you've never experienced India Street Food, here's your chance. Highly recommend!!!

Ha and you thought traditional Indian food didn't have a modern side. This place is pricy after you add several different items but the 20+ chefs managing food prep, cooking, plating and packaging. Worth the wait, always good!

That there aren't more NeeHees around always surprises me. It's really a hidden gem. Great Indian food and Indian street food, with a welcoming chipotle-like-but-warmer atmosphere. Lots of Indian families here so you know it's good, and they make ordering simple so you can see all the tastiness that Indian street food has to offer. And they have dosa! Which everyone loves whether they've had it yet

I tried the mango lassi, cholay bhaturay and dosa from here. It was absolutely delicious and the portions were wonderful! I'll have to go in person sometime as I has to UberEats! Will be back for sure

I use to be a regular at this place. Since they raised their prices I don't go there a lot. I always had bad experience with their to go order. My daughter like their raj kachori but they always forget to pack one or two items that go with the dish. It's such a disappointment to get home and find things missing. When I call to inform them they ask me to come back for it. Why should I drive back 30 minutes to get an item that they missed. Their customer service is not that good.

Love this place servings are a bit small compared to some other places but cleanliness and food presentation is phenomenal. Interior design is great as well with very quick food after your order.

NeeHee's is one best Indian fast food restaurant in Michigan. Its pure vegetarian and has vegan options too.

Delicious Indian Vegetarian Street food! Huge menu with tons of gluten free and vegan options. I highly recommend the Gobi Manchuria. Very crispy cauliflower without being greasy and extremely flavorful. I ordered mild spice and it was much more spicy than I expected. I only wish it came with a side of rice. The menu is a little overwhelming but everything is clearly labeled as vegan or gluten free options. Looking forward to returning and trying some more items on the menu that caught my attention.

NeeHee's is a delightful cacophony of sights, sounds, and smells. I ordered to go, but there were plenty of people eating in, in the large, well lit, neatly furnished dining room. There were groups from two to over a dozen, each comfortably seated with privacy from the others. Bollywood-style music played at a pleasant level, appearing not to interfering with conversation, but loud enough that I could enjoy it while waiting for my number to be called. Selections abound at NeeHee's. I ordered orange chile potatoes from the Indo-Chinese menu and vegetable pakoda (from the pakoda menu, of course). The food was deelish! NeeHee's is around the corner from my favorite nursery - Telly's - so I will be back, probably every weekend. Thanks, NeeHee's!

This was the place where all my Indian street food come true! They had so much variety of all kinds of street food. We ordered multiple items all of them were pretty good. The best of them all had to be the Falooda, I ordered it with Rose ice cream and it was amazing. I didn't like their sugar cane juice though, I'd suggest to skip it. Their Dahi Puri and Bombay sandwich were very good. The have spacious seating area along with tables for big groups.

I am just stepping out of your Troy restaurant. Your website says the restaurant closes at 10. When I went to the counter to make a second order at 9.45, you refused service and said "only take out". I came back to the table and then walked back to the counter thinking I will take takeout for my very hungry daughter. Your guy said 'no, because 10 pm will be lights out.' "lights out"? Really...was he threatening us to leave? So, pathetic service...absolutely unprofessional. You are in the US...learn the customer service and professionslism of the market you are serving. The food is okay. The taste might not be authentic Indian ( dosa was doggy, Sambhar was watery and dosa filling had just potatoes) but it consistently tastes the same each time.

I am new to Indian Cuisine, so I am learning with the help of friends and coworkers on what to order and how to eat this type of food. So far, my experiences has been good. The reason I like it here is that I find it easy to order, the place is colorful and the staff is reasonably comfortable. I've tried a few different dishes over the visits that I have had, and none of them have disappointed me yet, and my face hasn't melted off from getting food that was to hot and spicy. This is a miracle. I can take some heat, but I have limits! The variety of food here is plentiful, and I could easily eat something different each time I come here. I tend to go for lighter food options, since I am at work when I dine here. It's vegetarian, so no meat, obviously. healthy! Prices are good, and portion sizes are appropriate. My only complaint, since it's happened more then once, is there is never any ice at the fountain station. EVER. I have asked, and nothing ever happens. WHY NO ICE. I had drinking warm pop. Warm beverages are insane! UGH. I docked a star because it shouldn't be like this every single time. The place is colorfully decorated and has plenty of seating. The lunch line tends to move quick, and I've never had to wait more then a few minutes. Thank goodness. Also, you can place an order online, and it will be ready for pickup in a jiffy. I have ordered online when I don't feel like dining in, and it's saved me so much time.

I love the aesthetic and design of the building, menu, and layout. At first I was disappointed by the lack of meat options, however there are soooo many options on the menu and all are mouth watering you easily forget meat is not an option. I have now been here 2 times and have not been disappointed. Together with my faimily we have tried the Samosa Chaat, Dosa Wrap, Mango Lassi, Chole Bature, and Bhel Puri. Will 100% go again and I am looking forward to seeing this franchise grow and expand.

You won't miss having Indian street food once you are here! They are amazing. Fresh and clean.

I came here strictly for the Pani Puri! And I was not disappointed. It is by far one of the most special things I've ever eaten and brings me back to being in India, instantly. Even though the whole street food aspect isn't there, you will be delightfully refreshed after eating a few of these. You poke the top of it with your thumb, scoop up some potato stuffing, put a little tamarind sauce (red) in it, and then dip it in the spicy mint water (green) and eat it in one bite. It's delicious, it's magical for those eating it for the first time and nostalgic for those who have eaten it in the motherland. I do not understand the $3.69 price tag for the mango lassi. It's tiny, it costs more than what Indian restaurants charge for a full glass. But it's very good. So I'm objectively rating this just for the food. I can't wait to come back for some more, as well as try everything on the menu!

Ordered the samosa chaat chole, Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower) and the special guj thali. The wanted the lentil bread but it only comes with a full meal. Argh. They give you a pager after you order. Food was ready fairly quickly. My husband enjoyed all of the thali, less the cold pickled veggies. The thali is a good portion of different samples and filling. The gobi manchurian was good and had a good ratio of veggies and onions with it, breading was a little heavy. Sauce for the manchurian was good. The samosa chole came with 3 samosas, tasted pretty good. Huge dining area. Cafeteria style eatery.

I am not familiar with Indian food so upon walking in, I was entirely overwhelmed with choices. Their menu is extremely large and I didn't even know where to begin. However, they anticipate customers being overwhelmed and one of the employees spent a lot of time explaining what the different items were to us. I narrowed down my decision by avoiding everything with potato because I'm allergic. They took the allergy very seriously and made sure nothing on my plate was cooked with potato, which was much appreciated. Everything I tried was a totally new experience. Of all the things we ordered, the plain rawa dosa was our favorite. It was pretty similar to a crepe but unlike anything I have ever had before. The dahi wada totally blew my mind. It was basically layers of bread soaked in some sort of cold spicy yogurt sauce. Totally wild experience. I would highly recommend trying the sugar cane juice and the mango lassi. They were both absolutely delicious treats to go along with dinner. On our way out we got a scoop of guava ice cream that they make in house. It was amazing! My only issue with the whole experience was how the menu was presented. Their menu boards listed probably hundreds of items and I had no idea where to start. They did have a paper menu with more descriptions but I was still overwhelmed with choices and was unsure of what a lot of things were. Overall, I would definitely go back after spending some time online reading about the different items!

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COST. Worst Customer Service. We have been going to this place from the time, it was opened. Today's exerience have left a bitter taste. These guys are SERVING COLD STALE food. I had ordered a Masala Dosa at Neehee's today. Dosa was ice cold . I asked the staff to change Dosa. Someone with the name - Prakash started shouting and misbehaving about my complaint. He was threatening and cursing. I have NEVER experienced this kind of bad behavior in any other Indian restaurent ever.

Neehees has great Indian vegetarian street food. My favorite dishes here are the chole bhature and papdi chaat. I've also tried the dosa a couple times but dont really like it.. it's way too crispy and crunchy. I've had better dosas at other restaurants. This Troy location is huge. It's cafeteria style where you order at the front and they call your number when your order is ready.

NeeHee's was recommended me by a friend and I figured I'd try it for lunch! I read reviews that it can be busy during lunch so I arrived right when they opened at 11am and was the first customer. Folks were right as there was a steady stream of lunch traffic following my arrival! I didn't expect NeeHee's to be so large, spacious. It's its own standalone building with its own lot, so there's ample parking. There are large windows which let in a lot of natural light -- good for food photos AND ambience. You order at the counter & you're given a buzzer that buzzes when your food is ready. When you're finished, you just leave your plates on the table! I ordered way too much but had plenty of leftovers. The menu is EXPANSIVE so it's worth it to read through it before you arrive! There are a lot of unique items on this menu that I haven't seen elsewhere. Some of the menu items here I've had before from my international Indian classmates' home cooking. The homey goodness is appreciated and comforting. Note: none of the food was spicy at all but I believe I saw hot sauce packets if you want to add a kick! *C13 Dahi Samosa Chaat (Smashed samosas, topped with sweet tamarind chutney, mint-cilantro chutney, beaten yogurt, onions, spices and topped with sev for that extra crunch.) - I love samosas and love chutney so I knew that I would enjoy this dish. The textures and flavors were so addictive - the sweet and sour from the tamarind, the tang from the yogurt, the bright bite from the onions, the fried crunchy exterior of the samosa with the savory and comforting pea/potato filling of the samosa. It was a beautiful dish. Came with 3 samosas and I was PLENTY full. *M7 Special Gujarati Thali (Three types of sabjis (various), rice, roti, gujrati dal (soup), Shrikhand (sweet dish made of strained yogurt), Farsan (side dishes that complement the main meal), raita (yogurt with spices, cucumber and carrots), pickle (spicy and tangy mixed vegetables), mix bean salad, Papadum, all these served in small bowls and dividers.) - I love dishes where I can have a little bit of everything & this was the perfect for that! It's HUGE by the way. Definitely can be shared! This is their explanation of Thali: Imagine a round platter of dishes that cover all the flavors from sweet to salty and bitter to spicy! All these dishes are meant to bring a balance of flavors and come together to make you feel fully satisfied at the end of your meal. There are various versions of the Thali from every part of the country and we serve the Gujarati one. It consists of small portions of various sabjis, rice, roti (Indian bread), soup, raita (yogurt with spices, cucumber and carrots), pickle (spicy and tangy mixed vegetables) served in small bowls and dividers. 298/365

Overpriced. Left with empty stomach. I ordered a masala dosa, two samosas, and a paneer chili dry. Everything tasted good, but the portion of paneer chili dry was sooooo small. I'm a tiny Asian woman and I took two little children to this restaurant. My total bill was $30.71 but still left with empty stomach. Charging $13.49 for this small vegetarian dish is ridiculous. I'm still wondering if the restaurant might've made a mistake to give me only a half portion, really!

They have a delicious ice cream selection that Is worth trying. Their dosas are also delicious. You order at the front counter and pick your own table. I like how you can get your own water refills as well with the refill station. The parking lot is a little small and it does get quite busy

Not the best Indian veg fare I've had, but as one of the few veg only and street food spots in the area, it definitely satisfies the craving. Pav bhaji was my favorite and the papdi chaat was good as well. Sadly the bhel puri was soggy and felt like it'd been premade which was disappointing. Will definitely be returning to try their dokhla which is only served on weekends!

When I first walked in I was overwhelmed and disappointed. This place has like 100 items on their menu. We almost walked out. While attempting to look at the menu, the man at the register started engaging us in conversation and asking what we like and don't like. That right there was what we needed. He helped us pick a couple of items off of the menu and I'm glad we did. I won't review my husband's food because I didn't try it, but I will review mine. We ordered samosas as an appetizer. Fried perfectly and stuffed with potatoes, pees, and some spices. I really enjoyed it. I didn't care for the dipping sauces. One was very sweet and the other was bland. For my main entree, I had Manchuran Rice. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a type of fried rice with veg balls (delicious), peppers, and onions. It was really good. I got mild, but it still had quite a kick. Ok a con of this place, other than the menu being huge. It sure if this is typical, but there weren't many tables available because they were covered with dirty dishes. Like at least half of the tables. My advice is to study the menu before you come. They don't have your typical Indian dishes.

I love their build own Thai with an array tasty options to mix and match your taste. definitely more than enough food for one person. I like the quality of sweet dish, salad and boondi Raita as well. I also like their fast food options and to top it off the falooda is absolutely delectable for anyone with a sweet tooth.
