Oh I love a breakfast spot! This little place in downtown Lee's Summit is a must! You get a hot and gooey cinnamon roll when you are seated with a menu. While the menu is mostly breakfast standards, the food is excellent and of ample portions. The value is tremendous as well as leaving with a full tummy ready to have a day!

Google
Great food and home town atmosphere! And where else can you get a free cinnamon roll for each person when seated?!!! This place was great and we will definitely be back!

Google
The strip steak was perfect. Great wait staff, fun decor (check out the timeline!), good prices, and perfectly prepared food. This is my new favorite breakfast restaurant. AND they salt very lightly so you can flavor to your personal taste. As someone who doesn't like a lot of salt, this was a nice surprise!

Google
What an amazing place. We are not from around here and spent about 20 minutes looking for a local breakfast spot. I am so happy this is the one we clicked on. Being warmly greeted when we walked in to the warm cinnamon rolls at the table and amazing food!

We love coming here! Great food, great service. The cinnamon rolls are the absolute best!!

Google
How cute is this place! My husband and I dined in this morning at this super cute little joint as first time diners. From the very first word, our server, Olivia, was attentive, patient, and had some great recommendations of things for us to try. She came back and checked on us multiple times, sent us home with extra cinnamon rolls, and made sure we had our drinks to go. Besides our wonderful service, the chicken tenders on my chicken and waffle were fried to perfection, and my husband devoured his “All the Best.” The food was hot, fresh, and made to order, tasting like it was straight from your grandma’s kitchen. The free cinnamon rolls for each person when you sit down are an added bonus to an already delicious establishment. We will be back and will definitely bring friends with us!

Google
This has become our new favorite family breakfast establishment! We love the friendly service and of course the cinnamon rolls! Yummmm! If there's a line, no worries, it's worth the wait. We come here at least twice a month, they are family friendly and have such a cozy atmosphere. Great place and delicious food. Order some rolls to go.

Google
I'm a diner person at heart and love nothing more than a good, old-fashioned diner experience. Now, I have found one less than a mile from my home. Went in for a quick breakfast and could not have been more pleased with everything about this place. The food was great and very reasonably priced - fresh, warm cinnamon rolls at no charge were a wonderful start - and the service was as close to perfect as one could expect. Cannot wait to get back and try some of the other breakfast items as well as the many dishes on the lunch menu. Two enthusiastic thumbs up ... and that's because I only have two thumbs!!

Yelp
First off...you get seated AND immediately get complimentary cinnamon rolls?! Excuse me, what?! They were hands down, DELISH! Ordered the Brioche French Toast. Good heavens, was it just yum! One thing that threw me off a bit - when pulling up, all I saw was a " cafe " sign, so I drove past the restaurant. However, tons of street parking and lot across the street. It is a 2 lane street, with working trucks offloading/loading, so be careful. Recommend you purchase their cinnamon rolls to take home. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Amazing cinnamon rolls. Nice touch having a Cinnamon roll while waiting for your food included with your meal. Price value was good for what we got.

Yelp
The food is always cooked JUST rich and to order! I asked for extra crispy bacon and it was PERFECT! Their staff and servers were some of the BEST I have ever had.

Yelp
We ended up here for breakfast before heading out of town. Classic diner vibes, the staff were great, super attentive, and friendly. We started with the cinnamon rolls - yum! Then we got a denver omelette as well as classic eggs, bacon, and biscuits and gravy on the side. Very satisfying!

Yelp
Quaint local breakfast restaurant. Not particularly head-turning, but it's an option. There were complementary cinnamon rolls as if it were bread and butter at dinner. They tasted inoffensive at worst. I had the country breakfast burrito. I wasn't a fan of it. My girlfriend and I agreed on the sentiment that "It's just slightly better than a frozen breakfast burrito, and I can make better burritos at home". The service was okay, mainly regarding the small water cups since they may have ran out of larger cups. It was often that I was without water trying to eat my burrito and couldn't wash it down. The servers seemed all cluttered by the ramp between the two rooms, and not fully aware of their surroundings. The front room was much less decorated than the back room, it felt like we were walking into a for-sale house with booths and chairs in it. But where we actually sat, in the back room, the newspapers and pictures on the wall were cool and comfortable decor.

Yelp
Been a minute since we got breakfast but this place never disappoints. Down right greasy spoon but hey a sat or Sunday we will do it occasionally. Got the quarter order of biscuits and gravy and a breakfast burrito. Always clean always good

Yelp
I think the strengths of this operation are the staff and the ambiance. That said, my wife and I both had good family style tasty food in a generous proportions. The decor is plain with the exception of the wall decorations. Like wall paper, there are frame pictures of many veterans (I can only assume locals) which is very patriotic and inspiring as well as many authentic newspaper front pages from important eras in American history (a nice touch). Lastly, the staff, even though quite busy, was attentive, cordial and efficient. You could tell they enjoyed what they did and that they like each other as they were always helping out one another. Oh, and don't forget the awesome iced cinnamon roll hot from the oven for every table, delicious!

Yelp
As a new resident as a new resident in Lee's Summit, I was happy to find this place early on. We've been to Neighborhood Café several times now, and it's a very solid breakfast spot. This is where we take people this is where we take people who are visiting. I love the complementary, cinnamon rolls! The chicken fried steak is hand breaded. The atmosphere is very quaint, and you may find yourself and you may find yourself seated with strangers who become friends. This place is a local gem which we will continue to support.

Yelp
Neighborhood Cafe is one of my favorite spots to visit on Sunday for brunch (although they are open daily). This spot serves homemade complimentary cinnamon rolls as an appetizer!! My go-to dish is the Country Breakfast served with eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausage, & biscuits and gravy. Other top favorites include the Everything Skillet, Chorizo Burrito, and the Breakfast Tacos. Did I mention you can eat all you can eat fried chicken on Sundays for less than $15?? There are burgers, salads, sandwiches, desserts & more. Stop by Neighborhood Cafe today!

Yelp
Been going here for years, it always brings back childhood memories. Besides the nostalgia, the food is good. I love their cinnamon rolls, coffee & biscuits with gravy. All the staples!

Whitney R.

Yelp
This was the last time I'll be going to this place. The quality of food and service have consistently gone down since I started coming here. It is literally freezing cold outside, and came in for something hot to eat. My chilly was cold on top, my hot tea was room temperature, and they wanted to charge me for additional tea bags. Who does that? I've never been charged per tea bag, anywhere. Well, I made the mistake of going back one more time. Basically, if you're not a regular, don't expect any attention or service. The food is sub-par. Any reviews that were given by anyone more than a few months ago are obsolete, as everything about this place has changed: the menu, the staff, the hours of operation. It was a mistake to go back, and I won't make that mistake again.

Yelp
I went to the Neighborhood Cafe in Lee's Summit, it was a very nice mom and mom diner with lunch and breakfast with daily specials. You can easily spend under $30 for 3 people, it's pretty affordable and the food is very good. The servers were all friendly as well - it's pretty small inside but a great restaurant for lunch and breakfast, I'd recommend the breakfast platter with bacon.
google avatar

Yelp
When I say I want to go to a diner, this is what I mean. What a delicious option in DTLS. I've never had a meal I didn't like here nor left feeling like I was ripped off. It's one of the few restaurants left where you still get a great bang for your buck. The portions vs the price can't be beat, honestly. The service is always excellent, and the environment is one I wish more restaurants still had. It's like being wrapped up in a comforting hug. Their omelets, hashes, and cinnamon rolls are must-haves. Their drip coffee is delicious as well. I am not sure what grounds they use, but I love them!

Yelp
Great time! Beautiful place filled with the past and present. Excellent food and service. Great place in greater town
google avatar

Kristi B.

Yelp
We drove over one town to check out this cafe recommended to us for good breakfast. Well, I wouldn't do that again...nothing great about this breakfast - small scramble egg portion with my waffle. Bacon very tiny pieces and thin. Waffle was cooked well but by the time I got it- wasn't hot. Syrup was warm but didn't melt my butter. Coffee was the best part of my breakfast. They do give you a cinnamon roll, but wasn't hot and was pretty bland of cinnamon. We won't go back.

Yelp
Really enjoy this place. It's just the most perfect at home experience where the food is served quickly and its great quality. The ambience is welcoming and the service is really comforting as the do you spend time speaking with clients to get to know them. I would highly recommend this location. 5 stars.

Yelp
It's our anniversary weekend so we decided to check out a new breakfast spot. New to us but nestled in Downtown Lee's Summit. Diner atmosphere, very cozy and lots of breakfast traffic. The wait was only a few minutes and the dine in service great. Immediately upon being seated a server brought over a couple of warm cinnamon rolls. Although I would have preferred a tab bit more icing to counter the ratio of the bread it was still warm and delicious. I myself opted to try the French Toast, substitute the eggs for American breakfast potatoes and turkey sausage. I really enjoyed that the turkey sausage wasn't the average links or pre-patted patties. The char and savoriness made it very tasty. I will say I like my breakfast potatoes a little crisper, bit they were still fresh which makes a huge difference. Hubby ordered the Chicken and Waffles. Which as you can see was well constructed. His first thought was, "how do I eat this?" Let's just say I had the pleasure of watching him figure it out and he was stuffed once done. His suggestion was to definitely ask for additional syrup. This restaurant was a nice breakfast change up. And I'd say that we will return again.

Yelp
Such a good place for breakfast! I have been a time before and got breakfast tacos this time and that time! So good, super filling and good flavor. Sister enjoyed French toast too. Unique feel, good and fast service and interesting ambience (so many newspaper cuttings from historic moments). Also, you always start with a cinnamon roll which is amazing

Yelp
One word, actually two... Cinnamon Rolls!!!! Melt in your mouth, decadent, buttery, like out of your grandmas oven DELICIOUS cinnamon rolls. Honestly could careless what else I had but of course I had to have breakfast because one can not subsist off free cinnamon rolls. (Well I probably could but had no time to try since I am only in the state for a few more days.) Anywho, I ate here twice in my weeks stay and it was consistently fabulous! I had the #4 Biscuit breakfast which is yum with a side of yum. Then came back and had the #1 hotcakes breakfast and it was yummy yet again. Oh! The staff is absolutely the sweetest with the best Midwest kindness that was not lost for a second on this California girl. What a sweet lil' treasure in the heart of Downtown Lee's Summit. Will be back when I return in the spring! Update: Ate there a third time, before my flight back to California. I'm telling you I am so in love with this sweet sweet place.

Yelp
This place reeks of cigarette smoke. It was so strong that I couldn't stay and eat here. I'm disappointed, the food looked good!!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing cinnamon roles and skillets! I've been here multiple times, and the complementary cinnamon roles never disappoint! I typically get the skillet which is always well cooked!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything about the lil gem of a restaurant is awesome! It's been around forever! I grew up in LSMO and moved away- whenever I come back to town, we always make an attempt to stop by.

Yelp
This has been our diner for year. My father before he passed open it with the bakers and coffee. It was the first place that I took ALL of my children and the last place I called when my father passe. This has been a second, third and even fourth generation experience for all of us. Thank you for the memories. Could not do this without your support and love throughout Papa's life, Sue's life, Don's love and so many others that were at the round table blessing the food and making our an amazing place to live and eat. Blessing during fires and so much more love.

Yelp
I get Sunday breakfast with my framily every week. Yesterday we decided to check out this cafe in Downtown Lee's Summit. They serve you house-made cinnamon rolls while you review the menu! They are delicious and perfect with a hot cup of coffee. I ordered the classic Eggs Benedict, it was cooked perfectly and served with potatoes. Such a hearty breakfast to get me through a busy busy day. The rest of the group enjoyed their cinnamon rolls and breakfast items too. The server was a sweetheart and was quick with all the things we asked for. The decor is pretty cool, old LS newspapers framed on the walls and local business ads on the tables is a nice touch. The only downside is the tables are super close together so you can hear all conversations around you. Get to know your neighbors!!

Scott A.

Yelp
Excellent food with a small town, home cooked feel. They have an amazing selection of pies for dessert. Prices are great!

Mike N.

Yelp
Nice old school neighborhood diner. Good food coupled with attentive service. Visited for brunch, I enjoyed an excellent country omelette; cheese, bacon, onions and sausage covered with country gravy. I'm doing low carb so did not get potatoes or hash browns or biscuit so no comment there. I did however partake of the free cinnamon roll "appetizer" which was excellent; moist, loaded with cinnamon and covered with sweet glaze. My wife had the eggs Benedict and liked it very much...she did say it was a bit salty but she's very sensitive to salt. I look forward to coming back for lunch in the near future.

Yelp
Solid breakfast place and complementary cinnamon rolls. They are very hit or miss but the food is solid and it's very much a dive feel.

Yelp
WOW. I love, loveeeee myself a Hometown diner for breakfast, and this was exactly my kind of place. Stopped on my way out of town, cross-country driving from Ohio to Nevada and this was a perfect (and very filling) breakfast, perfect before my long drive! Just happened to be the morning of the Chiefs parade, too, so entertainment wasn't lacking either. The place was pretty spacious for a downtown restaurant and it was pretty busy, too! A good sign of good food, I would say! The wait staff immediately came to the table with cinnamon rolls and coffee, and right away werre available to take our orders. Our waitress was kind and very helpful in choosing my breakfast, she was conversational and pleasant as well. I ended up getting a classsic country breakfast with biscuit and gravy, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and eggs (over hard)--all of which was delicious, and all well cooked. Not hard, not squishy, perfect. And the gravy was absolutely delicious. Side note: the tables have advertisements of neighborhood businesses and such, which makes me love this place even more!! Gotta support each other and the successes! The cinnamon rolls were to die for, I'm wishing I brought some with me to Nevada!! Definitely a place worth a stop. And at a good price, too! Thanks Neighborhood team!

Dave B.

Yelp
Outstanding service and food! Just what you would expect from a neighborhood cafe! Prices are very affordable! We highly recommend this place!

Pamela H.

Yelp
Great portions. Great service. Free cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Will go back 100
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent breakfast and service! Busy time but they were able to seat out large group quick.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
It's local home style food that is always amazing, the servers, cooks and owners are awesome. The diner has pictures of local heroes that are not with us anymore and old newspapers on the walls that have famous points in American history. It's just a great place to be.
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
Better than 4 stars, quite authentic they know who they are & execution is spot on. Complimentary cinnamon rolls upon seating. Fried Fish special w slaw pretty decent. Partner had ham turkey sandwich- w fries. Nice vintage atmosphere. Good service.
google avatar

Yelp
In the area Saturday for breakfast and it was the highest rated non-chain restaurant on Yelp. Great choice. When we got there it was busy but we got seated right away. Coffee and complimentary cinnamon rolls right after we were seated. Service was very good and very friendly. Only small issue was wait time after we ordered but by the time we left, the line to get in was out the door and around the corner. So a little wait was worth the breakfast burrito I got with a side biscuits and gravy. Very good breakfast. Definitely check it out if you're in the area.

Yelp
I really like this place. Very home town feel, great welcome, and Jackie was fantastic as my server today. Always a smile, good conversation and very attentive to the coffee refills and checking on the meal. I did not realize that everyone gets a free cinnamon roll when you sit down and it was a damn good cinnamon roll to boot. Warm, soft, squishy dough with a nice slight crusty top of icing went perfect with my first cup of coffee. Coffee was good, no bitter and very hot each time served. I ordered the Spinach, Bacon, Tomato omelette and country diced potatoes. The omelette was great. It was almost like a crepe of egg (thin) wrapped around all the ingredients, topped with a generous portion of diced bacon. Bacon lovers rejoice with this omelette! The potatoes were great, seasoned ever slightly as to not be bland and were cooked perfect with a nice crust and soft inner. I chose a fruit cup which had a nice select of pineapple, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and grapes, all fresh and not mushy. The decor is great with a lot on every wall to keep yourself busy while waiting for your food (which doesn't take long). Good 'ol Americana is right here and I'd gladly come back on my next trip for a good simple breakfast. They have a lot of options however and have a great looking lunch menu I will have to try next time. Thanks for a great morning Jackie! 5 stars
google avatar

Rhonda L.

Yelp
Fantastic experience. Was served perhaps the best omelette of my life. I've been desperate to find "the" breakfast spot in this area and the search is over. Cannot wait to go back.
google avatar

Bryn C.

Yelp
Covid-Times review! Went here on a Wednesday morning when the restaurant wasn't quite busy yet. They did a great job spacing tables to feel comfortable inside. Sit down and expect some cinnamon roles. Did I know this was a thing, no. Did I enjoy it, yes! I split the eggs Benedict with my companion for the day. The entree came with a side and we ordered extra crispy hash browns (at the suggestion of a great server). The eggs Benedict was one of the best I've had in a while. The egg was a bit over but still was a bit runny. Now the crunchy hasbrowns were amazing. Great breakfast place for sure in a great part of Lee's Summit downtown.

Wyatt S.

Yelp
We had heard such great things about this place, and being new to the area, we decided to try it out. My wife's food was cold and my waffle tasted like dirty oil. The service, however, was great and we did like the homey feel of the place.
google avatar

Erin B.

Yelp
The breakfast tacos are DELICIOUS!!! Great service! Glad we have this diner close to us!
google avatar

Kelly W.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. The servers were friendly and fast. Unfortunately my food was cold I had the French toast special scrambled eggs. I can eat tepid French toast but I cannot eat cold scrambled eggs and they were cold. My husband had and omelet and the thickness kept it a little lukewarm. The restaurant had a nice crowd but not full. Seems like a lot of regulars and clean plates. I'm going to pass.
google avatar

Felicia M.

Yelp
Always great breakfast. I wish the location was a bit bigger. I like the environment. Waitresses are always so nice and attentive. They attempted to do tacos... not a fan other than that breakfast is always wonderful.

Juan H.

Yelp
Although this place was more packed than usual, because of Fathers' Day, it was totally worth the wait! Not only was the food great as always, but I want to compliment the staff, in particular our server, April. My daughter has severe food allergies, which makes trying new places a challenge. Not only did April promise to speak directly with the cooks to convey the seriousness of our issue, but since my daughter couldn't enjoy a cinnamon roll, our server brought her some fruit so she wouldn't feel left out. Thanks Neighbor Cafe, you continue to impress and April went completely above and beyond for our family!!!

Melissa O.

Yelp
Love the food, love how kind they are to you. Customers on the other hand can be a bit ruthless to the waiters not the business fault though. Love this place!
google avatar

Jim H.

Yelp
Today was the first time we have been here as we live quite a distance away. Everything was great, including the all you can eat chicken special, chicken fried chicken with the wonderful homemade corned beef soup, and the eggs Benedict. The free cinnamon rolls you get when you sit down are even more tough to discipline yourself on than chips and salsa at Mexican places. Our server was attentive, efficient and friendly. Will definitely be back again.
google avatar

Katy H.

Yelp
If you want a great breakfast without all the fuss and frills, this is your place. I have never been disappointed when eating here and the free hot and gooey cinnamon rolls that come out before your food comes sweeten things up too.
google avatar

Colton L.

Yelp
Best spot in downtown lees Summit. I recommend the chicken and waffles because my wife Tammy hates them. She's an awful woman and she ruined my life but neighborhood cafe makes me feel a little better.
google avatar

Carolyn B.

Yelp
The best thing is the cinnamon rolls they give you before you order. The food was ok. And the service was great.

Jon M.

Yelp
Ok, let's take it from the top. Cinnamon rolls are free. They're super dry, little chalky, but hey. They're free. Orange juice tasted like it was fresh squeezed from oranges that had been left out back for 2 weeks. No kids menu, so 2 $7 waffles it was. Turns out they were so tough it took a knife to get through them. Biscuits were also very dry and chalky, omelette was bland. Service was fine and friendly, so at least there's that. This may be the most disappointing stop I've had. What happened between the good reviews and today?!
