The Pie in the Sky Fundraiser Returns, and More News | Eater Boston

"A larger Somerville location at 691 Broadway opened in October to expand access to fresh food; the new space is initially handling online orders and curbside pickups with a one-hour turnaround (prescheduling for later dates/times is available) and carries the same selection of local and bulk goods." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Neighborhood Produce

Google
Perfect little grocery store with almost everything you’d need! It’s incredible how much can fit in this small store: produce, pantry goods, dairy (strong non dairy options too), frozen food, bulk foods (nuts, dried fruit, pasta, grains, beans, flour, sugar, tea, spices, and more), kitchen staples, and cleaning supplies. I’m sure I missed a lot in that list. You can bring your own containers to refill liquid soaps/shampoos/cleaning solutions from Cleenland, bulk foods, spices, tea, and even vinegar and oils. Great range of everything and strong selection of goods from local purveyors. Big grocery stores can be too stressful sometimes. Neighborhood Produce is my new go-to!

Google
The best produce! Always perfectly ripe with great selection, and the staff goes out of their way to help you. I recommend trying their local bread options and looking at their self-service refillable soaps/cleaning supplies. Neighborhood Produce puts zero-waste and sustainable options front and center, making them the obvious choice for any climate-conscience customers who are looking for grocery alternatives. You’d likely be surprised at their prices as well. Much less inexpensive produce than what I’ve found at Wegmans and Stop & Shop; which begs the question, why go anywhere else? 10/10

Some amazing products. Their Sophia's yogurts are the best Greek yogurt I've ever tried. The Deano's frozen raviolis are excellent, especially the mushroom ones. The English muffins are really good. All three are made locally.

Great fresh produce, blue stuff, prices are decent. Aldi is better on some things, but this is closer, and I like fresh producers to home.

I am beside myself with glee!!! I have been dreaming about a store like this one for so long and now my dreams have come true! Locally owned. Sustainability centered. I am in love!!! Finally, a place where I can buy pasta, rice, and beans without creating waste from the packaging. Amazing! I believe that BYO container stores are the way of the future & I feel so lucky to have such a progressive business steps from my home! Not only do my values align with this business but the friendliness of the staff made me feel perfectly at home. This is a welcoming place for everyone with excellent people and product selection. Plus they carry cleanland's product line too! So many fantastic things wraped into one perfect shop! Consider me a regular!

Google
Cute shop, but it’s unfortunate that the price for soap refills is far more than what you pay for the original container. For example, we bought a clean soap for washing dishes 25 fluid ounces from Cambridge naturals for $4.99. We came here to refill it, trying to reduce plastic waste, and it was double the price just to refill it with soap. I wonder how they can rethink making soap refills and reducing plastic more sustainable for community members?

Great selection of food in bulk and retail as well as more sustainable options for cleaning and household supplies. Always very neat and friendly.

Google
Extremely convenient, despite the small footprint they have basically every ingredient i typically need to cook. Friendly staff, and i love the byo container bulk section. Produce is excellent quality. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food youre getting

Yelp
Small but mighty grocery store in ball square. I often come here to pick up last minute items that I need for a recipe and they usually have exactly what I need. I especially love their bulk section because there's so much variety. They have so many types of grains, beans, spices, and teas. They also sell soap, dishwasher detergent, body wash and castille soap in bulk. You can bring your own containers which they'll weigh for you or use one of theirs. Definitely check this place out of you're looking to shop sustainably or just need to pick up a few grocery items!

Yelp
Small grocery store, probably the size of a convenience store... and since this pocket of Somerville doesn't have an actual/full-sized grocery store, neighborhood produce IS convenient. It has all the produce I usually get, a great selection of grains, local dairy products, but what I love about this place is they also throw in unique items that I can't find elsewhere: ORGANIC sunflower seed butter, Moroccan preserved lemons, gourmet mushrooms, chili oil made with grape seed oil, Vermont goat cheese. There are usually a few staff members working, and for some reason I always get this young man at checkout, and he's really memorable because every time he asks me about at least one of my items -- asking me how I cook with it or if I recommend it, etc. I enjoy these little interactions very much! Random side notes, they keep a water bowl outside for dogs and it is right by a green line extension stop.

Yelp
With no other grocery stores in the area, this is a godsend for those of us who don't own cars. The fact that it's cheaper than a place like Whole Foods or Star Market and the food is consistently high quality is just the icing on the cake. The produce is great and local wherever possible, with an excellent selection for a relatively small place, and they have most of the fridge and pantry staples you could need (also local in a lot of cases). Great selection of bread from Iggy's and other places. They also have a ton of options for package-free, bring-your-own-container groceries, from spices to grains to pasta to dish soap. Staff and service are always wonderful. Please patronize this excellent grocery store so that it stays in business forever!

Yelp
We've been customers of Neighborhood Produce since Matt opened the first store. It's been great the whole time! Staff are polite, the food is fresh, and the selection matches what our family eats. Being able to walk rather than drive to get groceries is a plus. A wonderful place, and as it happens I'll be headed there soon. :)

Yelp
Amazing bulk stock, super kind people, beautiful flowers, seems incredibly environmentally friendly and a great asset to the community.

Yelp
This grocery store may be small, but somehow still usually has exactly what we need. The local and seasonal foods are extra fresh. They have fancy locally made donuts in the morning, fresh bread, a surprising amount of items for those with dietary restrictions, refillable pantry foods, refillable soaps for bathroom and kitchen, and cut flowers. Also, the people working there are very friendly and helpful. This neighborhood really needed some kind of grocery store, and I'm glad we got such a fabulous one.

Yelp
Went to this charming store on Veterans Day. Great variety of seasonal produce displayed in a practical, minimalist style. Many eco-friendly products: shampoo bars, Castille soaps in bulk, various spices, etc. Very friendly and welcoming staff
