We visited Neighbors again with a friend visiting from out of town. We had a much better service experience this time around (food was still great) and have added a star as a result!

While walking the 'hood one recent Thursday eve with my son, we decided to pop in for a spontaneous mama/son dinner date. He (super picky) ordered the meatball panini, which he loved, and I had some sort of ham panini, which was also very good! We ordered cookies to go, which they apparently baked fresh for us and were still warm and gooey after the walk back home. As far as food goes, they don't have a ton of offerings but what they do have is well done and delicious.
Unfortunately, we received pretty poor service the night we were there. It wasn't busy and we sat on the patio where only half of the tables were occupied. Perhaps our server didn't like our running clothes or the fact that we weren't ordering alcohol, I don't know, but she *completely* ignored us. She never checked on us and failed to notice that both of our glasses were bone dry (and had been for a while) when she brought our meals. We had to flag her down (twice!) before she finally brought one refill. What's even more weird is that, throughout our meal, a manager-looking person lurked in the entryway less than 10' away, frequently surveying our table (in which our empty glasses were in full view), and also never said anything to us! At one point even my 13-yr-old noticed and said, "Are we invisible?" After our meal, our server unceremoniously dropped the check and then appeared put out when we asked about dessert. It was an odd and disappointing dining experience.

Despite the poor service, the food was good, they're only 7 blocks away, and we've heard good things from our neighbors, sooo...we'll probably give them another chance.
