The Best Cafés in Quebec City | Eater Montreal

"Third-wave café Nektar Caféologue now has three locations across the region: St-Roch, Limoilou, and St-Nicolas, where the company has recently embarked upon roasting its own coffee. Offering a wide range of hot and cold drinks including fudge brews and fusion infusions, Nektar is a popular hangout among young professionals and students. Also, there’s free wifi and clean restrooms." - Allison Van Rassel

If you're in search of a spot for a delightful coffee break, this place is an excellent choice. The cafe boasts ample space, including several window seats, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. During my visit, I savored a green tea latte and croissant, and they did not disappoint - both were scrumptious. The service was equally impressive - friendly and prompt. Whether you're looking for a spot to study or unwind with a cup of tea or coffee, I highly recommend checking out this cafe.

Wonderful atmosphere, friendly service, really disappointing pastry and coffee. The abricotine was soft and not crispy like a fresh pastry should be and the cappuccino was a big meh.

Located in Limoilou, the atmosphere is very chill and they appear to have longer operating hours than the location in Québec City’s downtown. Everyone here was super relaxed and the music contributed to that atmosphere.

Was very nice and you can buy all the accessories for your espresso machine at home. Definitely gonna come back.

the most disappointing coffee in recent memory. absolutely zero effort by the barista to make anything resembling a latte. as pictured, there was zero degree of milk foam, entirely unfrothed, and the milk was simply heated by the steam wand. by definition, what was served could not ever be considered a latte, and I thought this was supposed to be a specialty coffee shop? i sincerely cannot get over just the total laziness it would require to make a latte this bad. terrible coffeshop

I went to purchase coffee beans. It came highly recommend by an expert coffee connaisseur. I had just bought an AeroPress, wanted advice on what was appropriate for that type of coffee extraction. Wow! People here have a passion on anything coffee, and they know their stuff! I was quite impressed. Bought 2 bags, one Brazilian, and an other Ethiopian, both "audacious". Not disappointed once home. Brewing my first, with many more to come, AeroPress coffee. Awesome!

The Hot chocolate was nice and tasty, in addition to being affordable, however, the service was lacking a bit of pep and enthusiasm. The ambiance is lovely but does not distinguish itself from other "trendy" caffees.

I’ve been a regular at Nektar in Limoilou for a while, and there’s a lot to love about this coffee shop. The coffee is generally excellent, though it’s slightly more expensive than other nearby spots like Café Mila or Café Cantook. But you’re paying for quality, and the drinks here rarely disappoint. The service is also top-notch—staff are always friendly, and it’s a pleasure to be greeted with a warm smile. However, the real reason I’m leaving this review is the internet speed. As someone who often comes here to work, the Wi-Fi has been a consistent frustration. A recent speed test showed just 8 Mbps download and 4 Mbps upload. I’m using a 2024 MacBook Pro with Private Relay off, no VPN, so it’s not an issue on my end. Unfortunately, in 2024, this speed just doesn’t cut it, especially when other nearby coffee shops offer much faster connections. While I love the coffee and the vibe, the slow internet is a significant drawback for anyone who needs to get work done. Until this improves, I find myself leaning toward other places when I need a workspace as well as a good cup of coffee. If you’re here just to relax and enjoy a drink, Nektar is fantastic. But if you need reliable internet, you might want to consider other options.
