Best Restaurants and Bars Near the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival | Eater Seattle

"Anyone who’s more comfortable in khakis and a polo than jeans and a T-shirt will find their best dining options in La Conner, including this brunch and dinner spot. Nell Thorn grills meat and seafood (items include ribeye, seared duck breast, and halibut), and those who want some fresh air can sit on the patio overlooking the water. Open for takeout and limited onsite dining." - Matthew Lombardi

We had a splendid lunch dining outside on the water. A beautiful setting with timely, friendly, and stellar service. The meals were beautifully presented, hot, with fresh seafood. The mussels Calabrese were plentiful, plump, and tender...in an amazing spicy sauce with homemade toast. The seafood linguine was another tasty dish...with a scallop, some clams, mussels, and gulf shrimp. A couple more of the seafood items would have been nice in view of price. But it was a taste treat with a unique sauce. A wonderful place to celebrate. Oh yes, the Pavlova dessert was outstanding.

Google
Wow what a gem! This place is upscale and a bit fancy, and the atmosphere just screams romance and luxury. We got a table overlooking the water and we saw two Great Blue Herons fly by and lightening in the sky, along with a stunning sunset. Everything we had was noteworthy. The scallop that was in my seafood linguini was so good I would eat a plate of those. The second best thing I ate that day. The cocktails were refreshing and the dessert was delectable. A must for a special occasion or date night out.

Loved the food, and our sever was super courteous. We had requested seating outside but the sun was too harsh (they have umbrellas over the tables but it was just a little hot for my family, just a personal preference) and so we requested to change to table inside and the server quickly made that happen without any issues. Really appreciated the kind and courteous approach. Our party of 4 had mostly vegetarian dishes, and all were super fresh and delicious. Desserts were good too. Highly recommend and will come back every time we visit La Conner. Plenty of parking available for the restaurant, and great family friendly upscale atmosphere.

Google
Must have every time we visit La Conner! Olive oil with herbs and spices is extraordinary. Clams, chowder, calamari, and seafood pasta was awesome.

Google
5 stars isn't enough for this place. The view, the atmosphere, the service, and the FOOD are all amazing. My husband and I passed through La Conner for the day while we were in Washington for a wedding and stopped here for an incredible lunch experience.

Google
I've always wanted to explore LaConner and am glad we did and made reservations for lunch here. We arrived early, and they happily seated us. Everything was just A+, from the moment we stepped in to when we left. I had the waygu burger. Every single bite was absolutely heavenly. Glad, I opted for a side salad as I still had for dessert, Apple tart with a scoop of their home made vanilla ice cream. My husband had the vongole e salsiccia, he cleared. The freshness and presentation of all the dishes we had was just above and beyond. Michelin stars I'd give if I could. And we have eaten at quite a few in Europe. We will definitely be back and bringing friends and family.

Google
"Miss Sparkle" put out some real shining moves on our special dinner. Thanks, Becks for welcoming us to the deck and serving up the absolutely best meal we've had around town! Everything was a 10. Including the recommendation for coming here. See you next time.

Google
The view along the river was beautiful. The service was phenomenal. The food was so good! We enjoyed everything about the meal.

Yelp
Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago and can't wait to go back. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful! The menu had so many options. A great place to eat in La Conner!

Yelp
WOW. We LOVED Nell Thorn. We are in town with a big family group, and 8 of us had the most lovely dinner at Nell Thorn. First of all, I must give a HUGE shoutout to our server Rachel. She had other tables as well, but gave us impeccable service! She was knowledgeable about everything from the food to the amazing wine she brought. She took the time to explain everything on the menu, which was especially helpful for the gluten-free members of our party. The pasta dishes could be served on polenta or mashed potato for those who couldn't eat gluten, and they were delicious. From the youngest picky eaters to the adults we all loved everything we had. We started with cocktails, oysters and calamari. The calamari was breaded in chickpea flour, which was an awesome way to cook them and made them super crispy. The oysters were caught right outside the restaurant and were amazing. For entrees the youngest eaters had the Mac and cheese, which they both devoured. The adults had the amazing morel pasta (one on polenta), the halibut, the duck breast, and the chicken, which was all delicious and elicited delight throughout. I must say that while pan roasted chicken can sometimes be an afterthought at restaurants, Rachel vouched for this one, and she was so right. It was stellar! And I must give a final shoutout to the amazing Rachel! She's a keeper!

Yelp
The only reason I came tonight was because I had a $90 gift card. So disappointing, worse than the last time we came last year. First, I sat down at a table that had two glasses of water that had been sitting awhile, as the "iced water" had melted. Every other table is the same. Who does that? Waitress came over, and the first thing I said was I wanted fresh water and wiped the table because it was all wet. We ordered wine, Jameson, and both $10 a pop. Used to love the polenta, sucked. Used to love the bread, cold (used to be warm) served with green butter stuff. The calamari was good, but don't dip it the weird cream sauce. We ordered Ceasar Salads, no flavor at all. I couldn't taste the dressing. Basically, we're locals, and we'll never go back.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant by myself on a trip to La Conner. As I was by myself I decided to sit at the bar. Didn't want to take up a table. I honestly prefer sitting at the bar anyway. This bar was small and the bartender was quite busy with drinks. I'm a little unsure about the size of the bar. I don't remember at this point. I went here during brunch which is one of my least favorite times to dine out, but I was there and hungry. I can cook breakfast at home. I know how to make poached eggs and blender hollandaise. I was extremely happy to find a corned beef Ruben on the menu. It's been a while since I visited so excuse some details. I prefer pastrami Reuben's, but you can't go wrong with corned in-house beef. The sandwich was a little greasy. It's what you expect from this dish. Greasy, a little messy, delicious corned beef. Great level of sauerkraut and not too much thousands on the sandwich. I think the fries are made in house. I remember either way they were very high quality. Comfortable, clean, and modern. I was surprised by the lack of interaction the bartender had with me. I used to be a bartender. Part of your job as a bartender is to entertain your customer. I had a mocktail and it was great. So she was good at making drinks. Then she started cleaning bottles. I'm sitting at the bar by myself as a single woman. You're a woman too. Talk to me a bit. Part of your job as a bartender is to be social. Not sure if that is a restaurant policy or not. ABC possibly - always be cleaning. That's why I usually go to restaurants for happy hour. I was happy to see this place serving dishes besides breakfast during the happy hour time period. The Reuben was delicious!

Yelp
Nell's is seafood heavy so trying one of their seafood dishes is a must! I recommend trying one of their daily specials. Their seafood pasta, filet topped salad and oysters are delicious Service is incredible
google avatar

Anna A.

Yelp
Calamari wasn't fresh and gummy tasting. You would expect it to be so much nicer right on the lake but it's not. Two dollars were charged for us sharing a sandwich which is not the only thing we ordered. Simply offering and distributing. Deck was nice.

Yelp
I've dined here a few times when the weather is warm with my dog outside on their patio. There were also other dogs that were out on the patio. Staff has been wonderful and friendly every time we visit. The atmosphere is not too loud or quiet. I love enjoying the delicious food along with the water view. The plates are big, and we share multiple dishes with the whole family. We've tried their appetizers including Nell's bread, salmon chowder, and fresh skagit bay oishi oysters, and their main entrees Dungeness crab pasta and cod & chips. Everything tastes very fresh, I especially love their fresh oysters and crab pasta! It is always a pleasure dining here.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. This farm to table restaurant does not disappoint. I have been here multiple times over the past three years and it is always amazing. The attention to detail in the ingredients used, preparation, and house made items is phenomenal. These owners are passionate about quality cuisine and it is evident. The service was exceptional. My friend is Gluten Free and Dairy Free and the server consulted with the kitchen staff to ensure items were prepared without either. Drinks, starters, main course, and dessert were all timed perfectly. The decor is upscale and modern without feeling cold. Warm and bright aesthetic but also romantic at the same time. Quiet setting, more on the dressy side. But casual attire is acceptable, especially during lunchtime and in the outdoor seating area. Love this waterside spot with great views of Rainbow Bridge and the boating traffic. Off-street parking is a huge bonus, as well as the outdoor waterfront dining! Definitely recommend this place. You are missing out if you don't give it a try!

Yelp
It's easy to talk about the food as it was fantastic. The bread and butter is a must with that crusty exterior and soft interior crumb. Steamed clams for a shared appetizer and the house smoke bacon sent the dish over the top. The spaghetti and Dungeness crab was a great entree choice with the best pasta I've ever had. My wife ordered the roasted chicken with black truffle jus and sautéed kale. She truly enjoyed it and used some of the bread for that delicious sauce. Finished the meal with a glass of champagne and the apple desert. We are already planning a return trip. PS did I mention the service was perfect? Two nice ladies did everything to insure a fantastic experience.

Lynda M.

Yelp
Com'on Nell Thorn, my whole order of truffle fries was burned. I would have expected that they were not even served that way. And be warned that if there are only two in the party, you will be only offered bar seating and not table seating. Saw this done by the hostess for two other couples besides my party. Just saying Nell Thorn is down couple of notches and not worth the price.

Yelp
This was my first time at Nell Thorn, and I was very impressed. I ordered the Warm Pear & Beet Salad as an appetizer and the Bucatini Arrabbiata as my main dish. I could tell that the pasta was house-made, because it tasted so much better than pre-made pasta out of a box. The service was excellent, and the dining area had a cozy ambiance with warm lighting. It wasn't too loud and the booths felt private, so it was easy to have a nice conversation at our table. The food was pricey, but it was worth it. I will definitely come here again in the future, there were other items on the menu that I am looking forward to trying. Nice job Nell Thorn, a well deserved 5 stars!

Yelp
AMAZING & DELICIOUS! This is the best way to describe the unbelievable meal and service that this restaurant offers. I am craving their food as I type this review. Of all the restaurants I ate in while in Washington state, this was my favorite. It was the perfect lunch after visiting during the tulip festival in this charming town. It felt like a true 'farm to table' experience. Plus, our server was on point and with a smile the entire time. You have to try their apple pie here-- the best ever! Overall, it was a fantastic place to eat.

Yelp
Great variety of food, nicely prepared with very friendly service. Beautiful restaurant along the canal in the quaint town of LaConner. Great destination for shopping and dining in this fine establishment. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Tried Nell Thorn for the first time last week as we visited LaConner with out of state family visitors. We we wanted a nice water view AND good food. Nell Thorn did not disappoint. We had a nice table where we could see the water and Rachel, our waitress was excellent. Patient and answered all our questions. It's a farm to table type of restaurant. We ordered the oysters and fried calamari. Both were great. Drinks were well made and fresh tasting. Three of us ordered the Dungeness crab with fresh made, pasta. It was A-mazing! The 4th ordered The Bolognese with fresh made pasta.... Also delicious. We wanted to try dessert but decided on ice cream at a produce stand on the way home. We ordered one dessert with 4 forks anyway sooo good. Wife & I will definitely be back!

Yelp
As John Hiatt sings in "My Edge of the Razor", there are 'No minor league nights in the majors'. In a waterfront tourist town, you don't have to try this hard. It is clear NT missed that briefing, and we should all be glad... THE ROSES: Off street parking. A spacious, airy and tastefully decorated dining room. NT keeps the music level down, so it's the kind of place you can have an intimate conversation without resorting to 'battlefield tones'. The staff is extremely well trained and professional. The real star of the show here is the food. NT prides itself on a constantly changing menu, taking advantage of what local products are fresh and in season. Like a scrappy championship team that plays its heart out for every point, NT pours its heart into everything it serves. There are no 'throwaway' dishes here. We thoroughly enjoyed our bouillabaisse, chickpea flour-dredged calamari, and Dungeness crap spaghetti. NT offers a very comprehensive menu that truly 'covers the waterfront' (no pun intended). On top of all this, NT's prices are surprisingly reasonable for the consistently high quality of food and service you're receiving. My wife and I are on a cruising holiday on our yacht, and have dined out a lot at a number of restaurants. We have paid more, but with the exception of The Masthead in Cowichan, BC, we simply have not had better. THE THORNS: None. Absolutely none. THE VERDICT: Nell Thorn is a fine dining restaurant that can compete with pretty much any superior fine dining restaurant in any major city. They sweat the smallest details and deliver food and service at the highest level. In my never-humble opinion, Nell Thorne is the ONLY restaurant on the LaConner waterfront that matters. Highest recommendation. Get in here!

Yelp
Our favorite brunch! The menu is fresh and consistent, you can always count on a good eggs Benedict and quiche. Make sure to get their house bread with rotating homemade butter! You can't go wrong with anything here. I would recommend a reservation as it can get busy. Request patio if it's nice out!

Yelp
We wanted to try a different spot in LaConner, but couldn't get in because of a fluke on their end, so we opted for Nell Thorn. After talking with some locals and telling them our restaurant saga, they said we wouldn't be disappointed. We weren't! The food, service and overall hospitality were amazing! Great staff, great food and great service. Definitely a go to spot in LaConner.

Yelp
Have you ever loved a place, simply because it has your name on it, then come to find out that they're a local favorite, so you end up going there, all the time, because their food is insane?!! Well, the farm to table cuisine at Nell Thorn ( @nellthornrestaurant ), in LaConner, WA is that special place for me. My name is #Nellie btw! They are located just west of Skagit Valley tulip fields and right next to the picturesque Swinnomish Channel. The calm and friendly vibes inside allow their patrons to relax and enjoy their local fare. While their menu rotates, per the availability, at the local farms, they are always offering great craft cocktails, with housemade syrups and bitters, delicious fresh baked breads and buns, along with the tastiest desserts, on the planet ( and, this, coming from a true #dessertswhore )! Their dinner selections have been incredible, but we recently tried their brunch also and it's just all incredible! I cannot wait, for patio season, so that we can view all of the seafaring action, while partaking in another incredible meal! Cheers!

Yelp
I am bringing these friends back to a 5 star because of this most recent experience. The hanger steak was on point, a proper medium rare. Cocktails were good. Made a birthday celebration memorable without knowing.

Mary W.

Yelp
This used to be my go-to for visitors. Not anymore! Service was slow and they missed two items (we were a party of four). Beet salad was $$$$ and a joke! Pile of arugula with maybe 5 thin slices of beets. Two of my dining partners couldn't eat the potatoes that came with brunch either. We all visited there at the same time last year and we're so pleased with the food and service. Very sad.

Yelp
My wife and I have been here twice now - once in winter in the pouring rain and once during a beautiful summer evening. Both times it didn't disappoint. The food is outstanding, locally sourced and seasonal. I feel like the test of a great restaurant is can they make a dish you don't order something you want to order. I never order bolognese but after tasting my wife's I would order it here. I got bouillabaisse and it was spicy and amazing. Everything we ordered - polenta, calamari, crab Mac n cheese - was amazing. It's expensive but no more so than any other top notch restaurant. Plus the view of La Conner Channel is fantastic with the sun setting over it in summer.
google avatar

C James C.

Yelp
On May 2,2024 I had dinner at this restaurant said to be the "best in Skagit County. I ordered Bouillabaisse which is said to contain wild halibut & ling cod, clams mussels, prawns, yukon potatoes, garlic, parsley, tomato, fennel, fish stock, grilled house sourdough. What I actually got was two very large pieces of bread and a whopping 3 shrimp, one small potato sliced in 1/8th, 3 mussels, 3 small clams and NO FISH OF ANY KIND all for $38. Truly disgusting. I will never go back again and will dissuade anyone from going. I would give it no stars
google avatar

Yelp
We had reservations for 2 on a Friday night, we showed up early as we were done walking around and they were actually able to seat us early which was a pleasant surprise! From the hostess to the waitress everyone was so friendly. We immediately were served water and they were never empty from that point forward. For starters we ordered the calamari and bread. The calamari was super crispy and the aioli was the perfect addition. The bread and house made butter were great, definitely recommend! For dinner I ordered the pork chop- it was great, almost melts in your mouth! No need for any extra seasonings on it either. My partner order the top sirloin- he says it was excellent. The Demi glaze was amazing, the mashed potatoes were creamy. We took a look at the dessert menu, but we were too full to try anything that night. The restaurant sits right on the water and had some outdoor seating. We sat inside, it was sectioned off, so we only had a few other parties in view and earshot. Biggest reason to come back is the food and friendly service! Definitely recommend if you're looking to eat out to celebrate something or just because!

Yelp
What a spectacular dining experience in La Conner! The menu offers something for everyone. We enjoyed a multi-course meal that featured several exceptional items. The Broccolini soup with house made bread was incredible. Polenta with a mushroom gorgonzola sauce was another standout - and way bigger portion than we expected. The New York steak with peppercorn sauce was so good too, would order it every time I'm there. Amazing service by Annie made the experience even more incredible. This is a must stop!
google avatar

Vivien H.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service and good location & ambiance. I usually come early otherwise will have to wait in line if not having reservations. Definitely try their bread and seafood items. The portion of the brunch items is smaller than a regular meal, but it is enough for me or my husband.

Thomas K.

Yelp
This nicely appointed shoreline restaurant served us an excellent meal of top quality ingredients and very well prepared dishes. The duck confit was very good, the salad nicoise excellent, and the pesto spaghetti was top drawer. All the pasta is made on site, and all were excellent. Wait staff was highly professional and even the martinis were spot on. Kudos across the board. Best restaurant meal we've had since moving to the PNW 2 years ago. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Amberleigh B.

Yelp
I had heard good things about this restaurant--- good is not the adjective I would use at all! Try, exceptional! They source as much product locally as they can - even growing their own herbs. They make their bread from scratch (and it is delicious!), and the mushroom soup was the best soup I've ever put in my mouth. Their wine list is thoughtful and varied. Drinks are top-of-the-line. Service friendly and knowledgeable. Ambiance: clean and trendy. Definitely a great restaurant in a beautiful location: TRY IT!! You'll be more than happy :)....

Yelp
Really great food and is right on the waterfront. Had the sablefish and it was amazing

Yelp
Becks B gave us great service. She was personable and responded positively to every request. Some of us arrived a few minutes after the rest and she juggled the timing of everything perfectly. We arrived on foot, from dock G, about a 20 minute walk, after a 7 hour boat ride from Seattle. Our meal proceeded at a relaxed pace for about 2 hours. We never seemed rushed or deserted. We ordered 2 portions of Nell's bread and it was wonderful with the flavored butter but unlike many restaurants where it is complementary, each basket was $5. The calamari was good, small battered rings and seemed freshly prepared. I have had Calamari all over the world, most recently in Amsterdam. Sometimes it is in rings and sometimes in logs. These small rings were the most common preparation. I disagree with the negative comments in some of the other reviews. Two of us shared 6 oysters on the half shell and they said they were very good but pricy at $24. Most of the drinks were in the $10-12 range and my draft beer was $7. It was a memorable family gathering, 2 grandparents, 2 parents and 2 almost teenagers that ate like adults. I did not take a picture of my grandson's halibut fillet but he said it was very good. This is a resort area and prices are upscale but not too much different from waterfront restaurants in Tacoma along Ruston Way. We had 6 people and the bill before tax and tip was $446. As grandpa, I offered to pay as I knew that my son-in-law and daughter would be refueling the boat in the morning with at least 200 gallons of diesel fuel used for this excursion. It was a wonderful boat ride.

Yelp
Honestly, I am very disappointed with Nell Thorn's! I visited for lunch hoping for a nice Cod and Chip lunch but what I got was 3 pieces of paper thin over cooked cod (actually I think it was Pollock but they call it Cod) and over cooked fries. Way over priced and not good!
google avatar

Carolee C.

Yelp
Great food and service and a wonderful view of the slough. We look forward to going back!

J B.

Yelp
I first tried this delightful restaurant during the dark ages of Covid! Sat outside during a very rainy night, and had one of the best meals in ages. Since then, I've gone out of my way to visit this restaurant every time I have the chance. The servers are super nice and friendly. The bread with their herb butter is so delicious I could just scarf on that all night! Everything I've tried on their menu has been stellar. Love this place!

Yelp
We ordered the Frutti di Mare and Wild Morel Pasta. $73. The Frutti di Mare was melt in your mouth, slap your mama, bring a tear to your eye amazing. The sauce was full of rich flavor. The tomato flavor was dialed down to perfection. It had touches of savory butter and salt in the background that brought out a richness that I've never before experienced. The Frutti was abundant and delirious. Nearly every bite had a perfectly cooked sea creature. The pasta was fresh and cooked to perfection. The Morel Pasta was also cooked to perfection with a buttery saltiness that reminded me of a my favorite steakhouse. The morels were tender and delicious. A sprinkle of toasted breadcrumbs added an unexpected crunchiness that was very appealing. The service was attentive and complimented the amazing meal perfectly.

Larry J.

Yelp
We have been there a few times and every time it has been an awesome experience. The food is beyond amazing and the staff are perfect. We always pick Nell Thorn when we are in La Conner and have never been let down. If you want a dining experience you won't forget go to Nell Thorn and enjoy yourself.

Yelp
Incredible good food and excellent service. Recently widowed, I was dining alone but not by choice. However, I felt comfortable being there and it was a lovely setting. I honestly no longer remember but I ate but it was all seafood and it was great.

Yelp
10/10 Exquisite, Divine, immaculate. Everything we ordered was amazing. Their cocktails are incredible too. Excellent, friendly and helpful staff. The king salmon and beef bourguignon were delicious. The risotto cake that came with the salmon was such a nice touch and added a good crunch to the plate. The mussels are served in a delectable white wine sauce and the kusshi oysters on the half shell were expertly shucked. No pieces of shell and the shells were overflowing with nectar. On top of it all, there was an awesome chillwave/indie playlist going throughout our visit. Washed out, neon indian, Toro y moi. Awesome. This place is now at the top of our list. We will be coming back for years.
google avatar

Yelp
We visited Nell Thorn for the first time on a recent trip to La Conner and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly service of all the staff. We've always gone to a competing restaurant which has mediocre food and so so service. We have a very well behaved 3 year old but sometimes establishments can be a little less friendly bc they don't typically cater to families with young kids. The food was excellent. We loved that bread was made fresh daily and the pastas were made in house. We had the clams to start which my 3 year old devoured! I had the roasted chicken dish and my husband had the bolognese. Both were excellent. My son had the Mac and cheese dish. My husband liked it so much, he ordered a side for himself. We had to skip dessert this time but will definitely be trying some next time. Nell Thorn will be our new go to restaurant in La Conner!
google avatar

KDee C.

Yelp
The service was great. The salad was amazing. Calamari, not so much. They don't have a great selection of seafood so if that's what you're looking for this isn't the place.

Yelp
Great food amazing staff, great location for a weekend getaway from the city. Highly recommended for brunch! Drinks are always amazing

Yelp
A gem in La Conner. Worthy of every star. French style cuisine, excellent service, modern ambience and great views. Oh, and fantastic food. Service. Please try to make a reservation. We were lucky and got a table for 3 in the patio. Excellent waiter, greeters and runners. Our plates were brought in sync and our table was properly cared for. Our waiter had precise recommendations and was very attentive. Food. Fresh oysters (6, pictured) were very tasty, their cocktail sauce was freshly made and had excellent taste. Salmon Nicoise (also Pic) was the winner of the night: salmon was grilled perfectly, super buttery, tender and tasty, the green bed w asparagus and potatoes were a great basis and the olive oil and lemon dressing was perfect. We also tried Del Mare pasta: the spaghetti was perfectly made, generous shrimp, oysters, clams and calamari that blended very nicely with the oily base. The desserts are worth an honorary mention. Carrot cake was fantastic! hints of orange and Cardamom, perfect texture! But, the best was the Apple tarte: imagine an aptly made tarte made in Paris and apples from Washington. That's exactly what we got. Buttery, sweet but not overwhelming, warm... Just perfection. Please leave room for this. It's truly worth it. They also have very good coffee, good wine selection and draft local beers. So, make your way to LA Conner, maybe from the Tulip Festival or from your visit to PNW towns, but eat here! We will come more often!

Yelp
Very nice place for a special meal. Everything was delicious - except I would not recommend the Brussels Sprouts-to bitter for us. Great service
google avatar

B M.

Yelp
Nell's is the most expensive place in a small town with limited dining options. Food is very good compared to other local options. Is it worth the price, no. If you decide to go there request a water view table. Restaurant is two separate spaces, one is a dining area with water view, the other is more of a pub restaurant vibe.
google avatar

Daria S.

Yelp
Best food in LaConner. Best food in Skagit County. We love coming here with the beautiful view and amazing food, fresh from farm to table. I usually get the King salmon Niçoise salad. Today I also had the salmon chowder and it was excellent as well. The cocktails can't be beat either!

Dennis B.

Yelp
Had a reservation here for my wife's birthday. What a fabulous place! The wait staff was amazing with a full knowledge of the menu (which changes daily due to the locally sourced ingredients). We heard people in the next booth say they had travelled the world and hadn't had a meal as good as theirs. For us, we agree, it was just plain spectacular. I had a heavy bolonese with their in-house made pasta, really good! My wife had a very nice venison tenderloin and it was really good. The dessert was over the top, "chocolate mousse pave" which had "valrhona chocolate, chocolate cookie crust, chocolate ganache, blood orange sauce, mascarpone, citrus chocolate bark and candied hazelnuts." It was nothing short of spectacular. This place makes many of the higher end places in Seattle pale in comparison - and there are no parking or crowd headaches. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
October date day brought us back to La Conner Washington! Great little town with lots of fun shops, eateries and great wine and beer spots. We decided to have dinner at Neil Thorne. Great place, we had had their brunch a couple months back and really wanted to try dinner. Started out with Nells bread, very tasty and served with a herb and honey butter. For appetizers we had the fresh oysters and shrimp bisque. Both amazing!! On to dinner... I had the Iberico pork with cous cous and brazed red cabbage. Lots of flavor and very filling. Absolutely loved it! Girlfriend had the rib eye with a bordelaise sauce which was also amazing!! The mashed potatoes are one of the best sides have had in a long time. They were spot on. Very friendly service! They only serve a brunch menu until 4:00 then they sent a dinner menu. Highly recommend reservations.

Yelp
Wow... just wow. Read some articles about things to do and places to eat when in Skagit County and this place was brought up a couple of times. We had reservations elsewhere but we decided that this is definitely worth checking out. And boy did they not disappoint! The ambiance, the staff, and the Food!!! WOOOW!! so fresh and just outstanding! You can definitely tell its made with passion! The duct confit was perfection and the chicken was divine! Cant say anything bad about this place! Would definitely be back as its worth the trip from Seattle!

Yelp
Good food and good service. I came in on Sunday night without a reservation, but they worked their best to find a seat for me. The load of bread and fancy butter was good. Ask for more fancy butter!

Yelp
Delicious clams and mussels small plate. Such a tasty broth--be sure to order the bread to soak it up! View of the river is very calming. Looking forward to the duck and crab spaghetti.

Yelp
Have now been here on many occasions, it's a little place but great on all fronts last time we sat outside by the water. No matter where you sit waitresses are fun and kind. The food is great and a fun comfortable ambiance! I have ordered almost everything on the menu and I have enjoyed everything. I grabbed a friend took her there for a short weekend trip, we had a blast. I have to say it's my favorite for dinner.

Yelp
After a brisk morning hike in Anacortes, and high recommendations from coworkers and fellow yelpers, I was looking forward to stopping in the beautiful little town of La Conner, and Nell Thorn restaurant and Pub, Dallas was great about explaining how they used local produce on their menus, which are updated regularly. He was also spot on with the wine recommendation and dessert recommendation Everything looked so tempting on the menu, I can see return visits, just to try more. Of course, seeing fresh oysters on the menu was a must try.. anytime! The kusshi oysters were delicious, small and tasty, they came with a vinaigrette and cocktail sauce, both were yummy, but the oysters were delicious by themselves. Main course was smoked salmon eggs Benedict... so good!!! Very flavorful and just the right amount of tang to the hollandaise sauce. The Yukon potatoes were crispy and buttery, great with or without ketchup, a great meal after the hike. Dallas then twisted my arm, into trying the Apple tart, yum!! So many layered flavors, thinly sliced Granny Smith apples, a little sugared lemon twists, frangipane, house whipped cream, and buttery pastry... delicious. Great service, the staff was friendly and quick, it was just getting busy, as I finished. Reservations are recommended. Return visits a must. Yelping on, God bless and Cheers!
