We came in after a visit to the botanical garden nearby for a birthday brunch. We did have to wait to be seated, but on a Sunday that is expected. We waited about 20 minutes and was then seated. This is a very lively place, with lots of interesting decor, a large painting of the owners grandmother, Nellie Jonas. Yes, that Jonas family, and music memorabilia and photos of the Jonas brothers. I loved the ambience here.
We looked at the menu for the usual southern staples, and they delivered. We tried the fried chicken, 4 cheese Mac side, Nashville hot chicken, shrimp and grits (my fav), and chicken & Waffles. Only one of us got something to drink, iced tea. Everything was delicious and fairly large portions. Our server, Anton, liked to come to the table to tell us some history about Nellie, and to tell a joke or joke around with us. It was fun, and made for a fun birthday for me.
So, it's brunch time, and the prices are a little higher in my opinion. With tax and tip, our bill was $115, 4 people. I wasn't expecting cheap, so assuming the history, celebrity, and recipes are pretty authentic, expect good food but just at a little higher price for small town Belmont.
Be sure to visit the restrooms to see all of the music memorabilia on the walls. My daughter loved it.
When we are in Belmont next time, we will definitely visit again.
