The Best Southern and Soul Food Restaurants in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"This restaurant owned by the Jonas Brothers’ family is named after the Jo-Bros’ great-grandma. The food takes it cue from the matriarch’s home cooking with dishes like a half-bird dinner served with macaroni and cheese and collard greens and a Nashville-style chicken sandwich with a spicy glaze. The dining room features white-washed walls, farmhouse-style wood paneling, and white tables with a fun horse hoof shape at each leg — making it one of the fancier options for Southern dining in town." - Janna Karel

The Jonas family opens Nellie’s Southern Kitchen on the Las Vegas Strip in 2022 - Eater Vegas

"When Kevin Jonas Sr.’s grandmother got home from working 12 hours at a cotton mill, with flecks of cotton still in her hair, she’d roll out biscuits, perfectly flaky and a good two inches high. Those biscuits inspired Jonas Sr., yes, the father of the Jonas Brothers, to open an ode to his grandmother Nellie in 2016 in Belmont, North Carolina. Now the restaurant — Nellie’s Southern Kitchen — and its Southern cooking head to Las Vegas, opening as soon as spring in the former Hecho en Vegas space at the MGM Grand." - Susan Stapleton

It was the best meal and best service we had this past week in Vegas! All the staff were top notch and all were attentive to our questions and needs. The only downfall was the loud sports program on the large video screen. Instead of sports nice music would be been appreciated 👍Maybe have the game on but mute it and have music playing ? Our server was Leo 💕 Thank you Leo 🤩 Thank you to the waiter that took our photo 🤩 Thank you to the lady that brought us boxes to box up the leftovers 🤩 All staff worked together harmoniously and it showed🎉 Great food✅ Great service✅

Google
Atmosphere was comfy, our waiter was friendly and prompt, food was delish and prices were fair. I ordered their fish street tacos and sweet potato fries 🍟 (which were cooked perfectly and seasoned well 👌). Hubby got the cheeseburger 🍔 with Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was overcooked, and would have been great with fresh bacon 🥓 inside, but was very cheesy and still good overall. The banana pudding and peach cobbler were both sooo good. Definitely recommend the cobbler.

Google
Amazing delicious southern cooking found here! Their chicken and waffles and fried green tomatoes hit the spot with incredible flavors. For desert, you won’t want to miss out on their seasonal cobbler, I promise you won’t regret it. The cobbler we had was the Peach! Apart from the food, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere has a relaxing dim lighting that is perfect for a relaxing meal while enjoying music.

Google
Nellie’s Southern Kitchen had a good attempt on soul food, but I wouldn’t say it’s authentic. The food was okay, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it was good or great, except for the fried okra. That was delicious and crispy, but the dipping sauces that came with it seemed misfit. My main dish was the fried chicken served with mac and cheese and “drunken” collard greens. The chicken was nice and crispy, flavor was lacking, and definitely needed hot sauce to go with it. The only hot sauce options were Cholula and Tobasco sauce, again unfitting for southern food in my opinion. The greens were overly sweet, as if they were apart of the dessert menu. The Mac and cheese was creamy, and tasted fine after I added some additional seasoning at the table. There wasn’t much of a wow factor to the food, especially for the cost of the menu items. The waiters/waitresses all had a guarded politeness, I wouldn’t say that they were kind or friendly. Expect to pay at least 35 for a subpar meal in an environment where the music is played obnoxiously loud.

I was trying to decide between country fried steak and chicken and dumplings. The chef brought me out a sample of the chicken and dumplings, and I was all in!! The biscuits and fried okra were awesome as well. The staff was very friendly & attentive and refilled my sweet tea regularly. Love this place!

Google
This is the best food in the MGM the cook is top tier! I also took some photos for them and wasn’t ever able to share them so I’ll post them here. You won’t regret eating at this place. One of my faves was the collard dip! My girls loved the fried chicken Mac and cheese and Cobb salad! 10/10 recommend!! & thank you for the amazing service !!

The food was delicious 😋. Came out fresh and seasoned to perfection. The service was superb. They even had a live singer who did an awesome job. I would recommend this place when you come to Vegas

Yelp
We came to this restaurant twice during our stay at the MGM Grand. I really loved the atmosphere. You definitely felt like you were in a modern southern restaurant. The first time we came, I ordered the Southern Breakfast plate which included eggs, a meat and grits... absolutely loved the grits.. please don't change that recipe. The second time when came I ordered the shrimp and grits. Being a southern gal, I've had my fair share of shrimp and grits. I loved the take on this. They had like a hash brown cakes in the middle to balance the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was delicious and seasoned very well also they were cooked perfectly and not rubbery. I definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
The service is excellent. The restaurant is aesthetically beautiful. Spacious as well air-conditioned and lit. The food is ok. I had the chicken and grits. The chicken was extremely dry, but the grits and the sauce is delicious. It's different. The grits are a patty. My husband had the fried chicken. The chicken was just OK. The best thing on the menu that we did have was the greens. Those are a must have.

Yelp
Service was fine. Ambiance was pleasant. Food was abysmal. I left most of mine. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes, green beans and a glass of champagne. There wasn't anything country fried about the steak, nor was the "steak" actually steak. It was some type of ground meat product shaped like a patty that had a slight coating on it and deep fried. About 2 T of cream gravy on the meat, which was sitting on a mountain of very nice mashed potatoes but zero gravy for those. So...disappointed on that front. The champagne tasted off like maybe the bottles were not stored properly and the product was subjected to too warm of temps and refrigerated only as supply use required. Bad experience and was really expecting actual hand tenderized steak, hand breaded and pan fried. I expected cream gravy to smother the meat AND the potatoes. For a "southern" style restaurant, very disappointing. $50 wasted. And I love country fried steak and mashed potatoes. Instead this meal was like you'd get in a cheap walk-in diner somewhere.

Yelp
We were staying at MGM Grand so it was convenient and the menu looked good. Unfortunately we left very disappointed. The prices are what you expect from a restaurant in a casino. Glad I had a resort credit as this made the meal a little bit better. They ran out of thighs for the fried chicken so we received 3 dry pieces of fried chicken. Definitely nothing special. Chicken and dumplins did not have much flavor and the sauce was very thick and clumpy. The fried catfish and the basket of biscuit was the best thing we ate and it was pretty average. The dessert which was a cookie skillet and the staff who were very friendly and attentive helped salvage a disappointing meal.

Yelp
We were staying at MGM Grand and needed dinner. Didn't want to spend a lot and wanted to try something new. While this place isn't cheap, it isn't super expensive either. It's on par with any casual strip restaurant. We were seated promptly and we had the best server! She was friendly and stopped by often. I got the meatloaf with greens and the hubby got the chicken and gravy with green beans. Everything was cooked well and flavorful. The chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside. The green beans were perfectly al dente without being too soft or too hard. The mashed potatoes were buttery goodness. The meatloaf was tasty. The greens were a perfect balance of sweet and sour. We would definitely dine here again when we stay at MGM.

Yelp
Celebrating my twin sister's 60th birthday in Las Vegas , so we decided for Southern Soul Food. First time here , and I used the OpenTable app to reserve a table for 6 on our birthday. Hostess greeted us promptly as we arrived a few minutes before our reservation.Tory our server explained everything about the menu and recommended her favorites , and ever thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yelp
Had lunch here a couple of weeks ago. Our server Amber was great. So pleasant. I ordered the fried chicken. It came with mac n cheese and greens. The chicken was served hot and fresh. It was super crispy and juicy. I would have liked a bit more seasoning, but it was still delicious. The mac n cheese was good. The greens had a smoky flavor that I surprisingly liked because im really picky about my greens. Hubby had the shrimp and grits. The grits were not your normal grits. It was a grit cake smothered in a sauce. That sauce was EVERYTHING! So good! If you order the fried chicken, be prepared to wait. Its served super fresh I probably won't return to the restaurant only because there are so many places to eat in Vegas... but I definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
My mom had wanted to try out Nellie's for a while and we were going to be at the MGM for the AEW double or Nothing PPV so I made reservations for 2pm and we arrived 10 mins early. That didn't seem to be a problem for the mostly empty restaurant (on a Sunday on a holiday weekend) and we were seated right away. We got water brought to our table pretty quickly but the service went downhill very quickly from this point It took 20mins to have our order taken, another 5 to have my husbands $7 soda arrive. Then we sat. And sat. And sat. I asked our waiter to check in our food. He went back and then came to let us know it was "almost done". 10 mins later he checked in back again "they're plating it" and that's when I asked to speak with the manager. It took another 5mins for the manager to come to our table. I told him it was really disappointing to wait 40mins after ordering for our food to finally arrive. I was told "everyone's trying to eat before the wrestling" in response. Alrighty then...I mean we had literally watched 2 tables who sat and ordered after us get their food before us. Manager was less than accommodating and made me feel like I was wasting his time and my complaint was invalid. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is that the food was really good. Moms country fried steak was about perfect, my pulled pork sandwich was tender and juicy, friend okra was crisp and not greasy, the French fries with my husbands burger were delicious but he said his $26 burger was "good but nothing special" Overall the tasty food was not enough to overcome the dreadful service and I won't be returning and also would not recommend to any of my friends or family to go either.

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - Nellie's Chicken Cobb Salad - Good, but nothing special. It had a nice amount of chicken. Fried Chicken - Wow, the fry on this chicken was PERFECT! How do you make the chicken so moist and juicy inside?!?! Unfortunately, it lacked flavor. It is missing the herbs and spices... Also, sadly the corn and mac & cheese also lacked flavor. So other than the amazing fry, the meal was below average. "Second Helping" - We were able to take advantage of the "second helping" that is offered with the Fried Chicken. Exactly what the waiter said, two extra whole wings, see picture. Atmosphere - Beautiful huge artistic restaurant. Even the bathroom decor is nice. I especially like restaurants with sinks outside of the bathrooms, thank you. Extra touch - All the big screen TVs for us to watch the game. We watched the Buccaneers "kill" the Eagles. Open 7 days a week from 9am or 11am to 10pm. Service - This started off so positive! Substitution = no problem. "Second helping" = no problem. Then it got busy (not really) and we noticed they were understaffed! See pictures of all the empty tables... They just could not help the few tables that were here. After being very patient, we ended up going to the bartender to run our credit card so we could leave. Also because the waiter rarely came back, we asked the 2 busboys for the "second helping" fried chicken and they gave my daughter a hard time... But the waiter told them no problem and ordered it for her. Price - $66 + generous tip, even though the service fell way down, we felt bad for the waiter. My daughter said he was doing the best he could. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2016 and at this location since 2022.

Yelp
Service was great. Food is pricey and most of the items could use more seasoning. I wasn't a fan of the Mac and cheese but the collards are incredible!

Yelp
My husband, mom & I tried a new southern style restaurant and we're so glad we chose Nellie's. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation but were seated immediately. Only unfortunate thing was being placed at a table that was very wobbly. The restaurant is uniquely decorated and everyone we interacted with was so nice. Our server, Stephanie was great! We had chicken & dumplings, shrimp & grits, catfish, macaroni & cheese and greens. Everything tasted delicious!

Yelp
Been here before, but for a local event, so we wanted to try items on the menu. The fried chicken came out perfect, crispy and juicy, with a lite coating. The collard greens and the mac & cheese were good, but the did not come out pipping hot. The chicken fried steak was very tasty, with a legit pepper gravy, I always order extra gravy just in cases the chef doesn't add enough. The red potatoes were flavorful, but as with the other sides, not pipping hot. The peach cobbler was huge, i believe that they are using fresh peaches, but honestly it was missing something, cinnamon, all spice or something, though it was good, it could have been a lot better. Our waiter, Roberto was very knowledgeable and friendly, the restaurant it self was very clean.. Side note on the fried chicken, you get three pieces, but they bring out an extra piece it you want.. Enjoy!

Yelp
I ordered the fried okra as an appetizer and fried chicken and Mac and cheese as an entree and side. It was delicious, highly recommend. I definitely had better catfish but give it a try.

Yelp
We came for their "newish" brunch and that is definitely the move here. Our server was diligent about getting a TV turned to our college football game of choice, so I was able to enjoy brunch while watching the Kentucky Wildcats defeat (soundly) the Louisville Cardinals... so maybe I was in a better mood than usual. My partner had the chicken and waffles, which he liked. We split the biscuits and gravy, which was quite good. I didn't care for the Bloody Mary but I'm finding it harder and harder to LIKE Bloody Marys so it could just be me. Happy that Nellie's is offering brunch on the weekends now because breakfast (and lunch) options at the MGM Grand are really weak. I wish they would do it every day.
google avatar

Lawrencia L.

Yelp
The service here was impeccable. Thank you Leo for being so awesome! I felt that he took care of our table like family. I had the chicken and I thought it was a nice gesture that they gave you additional pieces to go. I really wished the chicken had more seasoning. The dessert and salad were delicious. The mac and cheese and greens were good. I can't wait to come back and visit.

Yelp
Stopped by Nellie's while in Vegas, for a quick bite to eat. It's located in the MGM and the decor is very unique and come to find out it's own by the Jonas Brother dad. So that's cool. Anyways, I sat down, and ordered the pimento cheese pulled pork skillet, which was on their brunch menu. I also ordered their version of an old fashioned. The food was underwhelming to be honest. The first time it came out it was cold (a skillet being cold, how does that even happen), however I will give props to the manager Alex who was gladly able to remake it for me, and the second one was much better temperature wise, but it lacked the flavor and was pretty dry, and the pork was just plopped on top of the potatoes and not shredded well. I ended up asking for more sauces to flavor it up, as they barely had any pimento cheese on it and lacked flavor. So was disappointed there, because I was really hungry and hoping to hit the ball out of the park with this. But it definitely fell flat for me. The old fashion on the other hand, that was one of the best old fashioned's I've had, it had a special in house maple syrup added to it, it was delicious, gave it a wonderful fall flavor to it. The service was subpar, but my server seemed to have been busy with other tables even though the place wasn't that busy, she had a big party so the manager Alex stepped in and helped her so that was good, and I let it slide since it was just me and I'm pretty low maintenance with what I need. LoL Overall it suited the purpose of getting something in my stomach, since I was starving but definitely didn't wow me enough to feel the need to come back or even tell anyone to go there if they're in town.

Yelp
I was craving some southern cooking so me and wife gave this place at the MGM a try for lunch. I'll start by saying all staff were exceptional. Even the manager was walking around asking customers how everything was and if they needed anything. The restaurant itself is nice and I will say maybe the most comfortable chairs in a restaurant I've ever sat in. They also do live music but not sure what days or times. Now onto the food. Wife wasn't real hungry so got a side of the home fries. While I love potatoes that's one style I've never been a fan of until I tried these. They were by far the best home fries I've ever had. I got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was terrific. The best restaurant meatloaf I've had same with the green beans. I had a hard time choosing what entree to get but was super happy with my choice. Will definitely be back to try other items. We did get the biscuits to start and while they were good I feel should have been complimentary with the meals. Good but won't order again.

Yelp
First visit so will have to follow up if we have any different service but currently seems great. Starting off with some cold drinks and Fried Green Tomatoes. Not sure on the main entrees.

Yelp
I was happy to find this place in the MGM! I've walked by a few times but never paid attention. Very cute decor and vibe, though we were only there for lunch you can tell it'd be amazing for dinner time. The customer service was amazing! Thought I wasn't in the mood to drink, they did have a good selection of cocktails. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were fire! We asked for a side of ranch which helped to take it over the top.y main course was the shrimp in grits. The flavors were great, but the grits got soggy after a while which made for a texture I personally didn't care for. I'd order it again but ask for my grits on the side. Would be happy to visit again to try more of the menu. Food rating Fried green tomatoes 8/10 Shrimp n grits 7/10 Customer service 10/10!! Ambiance 10/10!!

Yelp
I can't recommend this establishment at all in the MGM Hotel & Casino. When walking by multiple times a day (we stayed at the hotel) you hear good music coming from inside and you see really nice deco and tables and sitting areas. Looks very nice. We stopped at the hostess stand to see about making reservations- they quickly said they weren't needed. That should have been our first sign. We showed up at 6pm on a Tuesday evening. We were dressed nice as it appeared to be a more upscale restaurant. They asked us how many in our group, just my husband and I. The grabbed the menus and started to lead us in to the restaurant and I was excited to give it a try. However we were lead to behind the big bunny painting on the wall. I felt like we stepped into some kind of portable....we went from high class to instant bar scene, with the largest screen tv I have seen in a restaurant. We were sat right next to a stage, in front of the TV. I instantly felt overdressed and asked my husband if we actually were in the correct place. the tables just had normal chairs, no table clothes, paper napkins and no decorations. It was a total smoke and mirrors show. After they sat us with the menus, we waited 15 mins before anyone ever came to our table. We were just getting ready to get up and leave, and suddenly a man showed up. Was very direct and to the point. Felt like we were a burden by being there. Just asked what we wanted, took order and left. He was very short with us. I ordered the chicken and dumplings and my husband ordered the chicken and mashed potatoes. Mine was just small shredded chicken pieces, and dumplings in small bowl with the "gravy" part. No veggies, so sides, nothing. It was the most bland thing I have eaten. It was gross to say the least. And it was $38 just for my dish. My husband's was literally like a chicken tender on a sad pile of mashed potatoes. He wasn't asked what side he would like and he was brought collard greens. Both of our meals were cold. His was $42 for his dish. We would have gotten a salad or ordered more sides ala-cart if we had known nothing else came with it. To say the least we were starving and paid way too much for the worst food in the hotel. the server never came back to check on us and had someone else come and drop off the check. The place only had 3 other groups in there and they seemed to be getting the same poor service as we had. Do not waste your money or time here. Wish I had a better review.

Yelp
My group of 6 was looking for lunch/brunch within MGM, so we could start our full day in Vegas. The place didn't have too many customers when we came around 11am. It's actually very large inside and even has a small stage. Apparently, live music on the weekends. We had never heard of it, but noted the poster with a black chef at the entrance, so we definitely wanted to try. We arrived at the hostess stand, in hopes of being seated, we waited a few minutes and were seated pretty quickly. Food - I wasn't super hungry, but I wanted something on my stomach to get through the day. I ordered the biscuit basket for the table. It comes with 4. Then another person at our table ordered another basket, so everyone could try. So we ended up with 2 baskets for the table. The biscuits came with butter and jam. They were fine, homemade maybe, but just ok. Someone also got fried okra for the table. This was fine. I think I would have preferred it if they sautéed the okra first and then fried it, rather than basically flash fried. It came off as very crisp with too light of flavoring. Which some dinners may enjoy, taste preference wise. For my entree, I ordered grilled shrimp. They were seasoned well, and it came with a side of sautéed veggies. My friend ordered the fried lobster and waffles, and she seemed to enjoy that, which costs about $50ish, I think, as market price. Service- Our server was efficient but not personable at all. He may have been busy, as the place started to become crowded mid meal, and by the time we walked out, it was full. Won't hold this against the place. This place will do in a pinch, but I likely wouldn't visit again.

Yelp
Place is spacious and clean but a bit cavernous. Its possible the gray and white color palate and minimalist decor make the place feel cold.. The waitress was nice but our food came out very late and appeared to have been sitting out for a while. Chicken was tasty but a bit tough and sides are tiny portions. The chicken egg rolls were way too sweet.

Yelp
We stayed at the MGM Grand hotel in July, 2023. It was a lazy Independence day and hubby and I were really hungry. We saw this was a restaurant in the hotel and the menu options looked great so we decided to give them a try for a late lunch. We walk in and immediately I fell in love with the pretty decor. It's so inviting! I loved the colorful beauty of the bathrooms too! The staff was super friendly which I truly appreciated. The experience was amazing from beginning to end. We started out with the southern basket biscuits. They were big and simply delicious. I think the jam they give are homemade and was to die for. We ordered drinks and those were wonderful as well. I had the Lovebug Burger and hubby had the Pulled Pork meal. Everything was tasty. Great experience! While dining, the staff shift changed so we had 2 different female waitresses and both gave wonderful service. Those biscuits were plentiful and really helped us in the end. We saved one for our early flight back home and savored every bite. Yum Yum! I highly recommend this restaurant. I look forward to coming here again. Thanks Nellie's, you ROCK!! A+++!

Yelp
Nellie's is a solid place to come for some southern comfort food and they may have had the best collared greens I've ever had! After spending hours at a day club with my friends, we were looking at a place for food that wasn't too busy and had some screens so we could watch the nba finals while enjoying dinner. We came at 6pm on a weekend with a group of 10+ and they had no problem seating us. Fried chicken was crispy and the sides were really good as well. Would definitely recommend coming here after a long afternoon at the day clubs!

Yelp
This restaurant is incredibly underwhelming, and I am genuinely confused about how it has so many high ratings. I know Las Vegas is expensive, but I will accept a higher price if the food is great. The food was not great. Here are my opinions, item by item: Fried Okra (appetizer): This was one of the better items we ordered. It was crispy, and it met my bar for good fried okra. Was it worth it for $14.99? Absolutely not, but at least it tasted good. Southern Eggrolls (appetizer): I wouldn't order this. The eggrolls by themselves lack any depth of flavor. The dipping sauce it comes with is too sweet. The waitress informed us it was a barbecue sauce. It was so sweet I legitimately thought it was jam. Definitely not worth the $20 we paid for it. I seriously think Chili's southwestern eggrolls taste better (and they're cheaper). Chicken & Waffles: The waffles were excellent. Crispy outside, fluffy inside. The butter and syrup combined well to make a deliciously sweet waffle experience. The chicken? Absolutely horrendous. It was tough and extremely dry. I was choking trying to swallow the chicken. Any trace of flavor was also noticeably absent. They seriously could have made this better if they had air-fried some Kroger frozen chicken tenders in place of their chicken. Absolutely would not order, especially for $30. Chicken & Dumplings: Another disappointing and overpriced entree. Despite the dumplings sitting in a pool of gravy, the chicken was somehow still dry. The chicken itself was lacking and not what I expected when I think of restaurant quality. It reminded me of Costco's rotisserie chickens, except with less flavor and all of the moisture sucked out. The gravy was not good and tasted similar to the canned variety you'd find at the dollar store. The interior of the restaurant was nice, featuring abundant seating and a stage. The restrooms were decently clean, with shared sinks for both restrooms outside of the toilet area. The service was decent at first, but our waitress stopped coming to refill our water after she saw us dissatisfied with our food. There were only two other parties eating at lunchtime, however, so she definitely had time to check on us. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. If you're looking for good food, good prices, or good service, I'd look elsewhere.

Yelp
A modern twist on some of your favorite soul food dishes with a dope esthetic - this is Nellie's! For starters, we had the Whoa Nellie (love this play on words) Martini and the Southern Rolls. They both were incredibly tasty and a fantastic first impression. And our entrees were equally impressive! The chicken and gravy was aammaazziinngg! Chicken was perfectly fried-crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Served with a heap of mashed potatoes. Both covered with a savory country gravy - yum!! Greens were a little too sweet for my liking though. The meatloaf w/mash and green beans was awesome. Not something we've often seen on a soul food menu, but was a real treat. It had loads of flavor and was also very hearty. Green beans were tender with just the right amount of seasonings. Lastly, the chicken and waffles were superb. The waffle was so yummy, the thought of using syrup seamed cruel, lol. Dana, our server was phenomenal! She was not only very friendly, she was also attentive.

Yelp
The food portions are big, so be ready to eat! We loved the warm buttery biscuits and all the flavor. Our waiter was great! The atmosphere was modern, but cozy. Definitely good comfort food!

Yelp
First time at the restaurant. Really impressed. First I liked the fact that the tables are NOT squished right next to one another. But there's open space so you can hear your companions talk. The restaurant is huge with lots of little and big areas. Plus that BIG screen TV was fun to have on especially with a football game on. If you need to eat Gluten Free like I do, the menu has numerous choices and all clearly marked. I had the grilled shrimp which was so flavorful. Others had the chicken of various versions and everyone enjoyed the meal. A bit high priced on some items, but not for the Vegas Strip I guess. Definitely will return.

Yelp
Came here to have dinner before the Usher concert (11/2023). The place was a little difficult to find as it is inside the MGM. We made reservations and were seated immediately. I ordered the Soul Rolls and they were delicious but overpriced. I also ordered the shrimp and grits and it was okay, could have been seasoned more. The drinks were super expensive and watery. It wasn't anything memorable, probably wouldn't break my neck to visit again. However, give it a try, it definitely wasn't bad.

Yelp
Decided to go to Nellie's for some southern food, & it did not disappoint. As an appetizer, we started with a basket of biscuits that came with cinnamon butter & jelly, so delicious, a must try! Then for meals I had the chicken & gravy. The chicken was well cooked & had lots of flavor. The collard greens had a unique sweet flavor. I would come back & eat here again!

Yelp
Came here for dinner and we sat at the bar. Ordered drinks and a chopped salad. Also ordered chicken tenders with came with fries and Cole slaw. Chopped salad was ok but was not really chopped also expensive. Chicken tenders were all white meat and order good. Cole slaw was good and fries were good too. Service was good and nice ambiance.

Yelp
Food was good, service was great, The Ambience was lively and great music was playing. Getting to the Food, My Wife ordered the Chicken and Waffles and I ordered the Fried Chicken. The chicken and waffles were on point. the fried chicken was ok the fried skin on the chicken was off the chart's delicious. We then ordered The Banana Pudding and the Strawberry cobbler for desert which both was on point. All in all the dinner was nice and the hostess was amazing explained everything clear to us and started the night of right. The servers and bussers were awesome too.

Yelp
The ambiance is beautiful. The food was just ok but the service was absolutely awful. The restaurant was not particularly busy on the night that we went for my birthday dinner but the server took a very long time to come over to our table to take drink orders. He got one of our orders wrong for a party of six and she had to sit and wait until her food came out (the food had already taken a very long time for him to bring out the wrong item initially) We ordered a salad and asked for the bacon on the side which he gave an upcharge for even though the bacon was included on the salad already. It was very slow and very disappointing and overall not worth the wait at all. If you order the fried chicken they bring out an additional piece. Only two of our guests ordered the fried chicken and he brought out an additional piece to one (without asking her what piece she preferred) and didn't even make the offer to the other person who ordered it. He was a consistently sucky server.

Yelp
This is a relatively new restaurant in MGM and it did not disappoint! This is a southern style restaurant that puts a twist on certain southern staple meals. We ordered the pinto beans, egg rolls and cornbread for appetizers. The pinto beans do have a little kick to them and the bbq, mac and cheese and collard green egg rolls were good. The sauce on the side is definitely spicy, but I didn't use much of it as the eggs rolls were good independently. The fried catfish was seasoned well and fried hard to perfection. The shrimp and grits is a bit different from the normal dish. It wasn't bad but it wasn't what we expected, but the server let us know up front that it was different. The chicken and dumplings were okay but nothing to brag about. They just lacked seasoning for the most part. And the sweet tea definitely was brewed to perfection. There was live music playing and they have a huge tv in the center that they played the game on. I definitely plan on returning and trying more of the menu! Our server Saul was great and very knowledgeable.

Yelp
The food and service are great i had the grit cakes and shrimp. The flavors together popped. For the appetizer, we had the collard greens dip which was rich and flavorful with hint of spicy. The restaurant had TVs and comfortable seats. Only thing i wish it had was music to bring the experience together. Definitely would go back

Yelp
***Huge portions, Decent Service, Lots of Tables*** The portions are absolutely huge; I highly recommend sharing. Otherwise hits the spot to soak up the alcohol or in preparation of alcohol. Service was great and it's a pretty big restaurant, so you're guaranteed seating.

Yelp
Showed up on a Tuesday @ 1pm. We were told there's a 20 minute wait for a party of 6, even though we saw an abundance of open tables. We received a text once our table was ready, in which the appetizers came out quickly but our food seemingly took a really long time. If you're in town for a convention, this is not the spot to grab your quick lunch on your break. The burger was outstanding. It was so juicy and full of flavor. The melted pimento was messy but not overwhelmingly messy. The fried okra was okay, French fries were much tastier. Overall, the place was decently priced just real slow service.

Yelp
Way deep within the maze that is MGM, this place was DELICIOUS! I'm borderline a vegetarian but the country fried steak looked too good to pass up. And I am SO glad I did! It was everything I wanted diner country fried steak to be and NEVER is! The breading was really flavorful with really tender good quality steak. The gravy was perfect! Creamy and savory to perfectly complement the steak. The mashed potatoes and drunken collard greens were also excellent quality and delicious. If I'm ever back in Vegas I would definitely go back!

Yelp
Let me start off by saying our waiter Saul was awesome Very personable and also knowledgeable about the entire menu Also kudos to the entire staff My water was always refilled To go box was placed in a bag everyone was on top of it !!! I tried making reservations on line via the website but I wasn't able to, I got a reply that the time slot was not available. We walked up and we were told the wait would be about 20 minutes no worries, the wait was actually about 10 min if that The restaurant is nicely decorated There was live music There is also a full bar I ordered the FRONT PORCH DRINK $15 Friend got the Whoa Nellie $15 ***both drinks were super sweet I took it for the team and drank mine lol Friend returned the drink, not a team player LOL and got a Moscow mule I ordered the Cajun chicken bowl Friend ordered the meatloaf entree The Cajun chicken bowl is ok Comes with corn and roasted potatoes I did enjoy the entree Chicken was juicy Potatoes were seasoned well But kinda basic My friend really enjoyed the meatloaf also Said it reminded him of moms meat loaf lol Prices are kinda on the higher end in comparison to other near by restaurants..... this place is OKAY Food is cool We came We ate We drank

Yelp
The food was under seasoned and overpriced. We ordered the biscuits as an appetizer and they were essentially Pilsbury flaky layer biscuits. Not kidding. Husband ordered a flavorless blackened chicken sandwich with overcooked, under seasoned roasted potatoes and I ordered (gentrified and unseasoned) chicken and waffles with two cocktails- it came out around $110 before the 18% tip for subpar service. The food wasn't bad- it was just disappointing, and it most definitely wasn't good enough to return. The people seated right next to us in damn near a shared booth had two different dishes (country fried chicken and a shrimp risotto) and were also not enthusiastic about it. 4/10 do not recommend.

Yelp
We had planned to sit and eat dinner here but ended up at the bar. We arrived 15 minutes early and we're told we'd have to wait to be seated based on our reso. Mind you, the restaurant was maybe at 30% capacity, so no reason we should have to wait. Bar was great, ordered a couple apps (pimento cheese dip was excellent), and had a few drinks. The host table needs a little work, and I'm guessing it's a management directive to not sit anyone but they should know when it's ok to do that. Will go back, but plan to sit at the bar.

Yelp
We found this place in the MGM and oh my was I surprised! The food was delicious! The shrimp and grits were different then what I expected since they were grit cakes and had a different texture but the sauce made the whole meal perfect and a must try! The fried green tomatoes were perfectly fried! I would definitely go again if I go back!

Yelp
I came in here with high hopes but left with disappointment. First off the restaurant is FREEZING. The staff said they couldn't do anything about it so the ladies I was with were cold and shivering the ENTIRE meal. Service was subpar as well because we only saw our server when she took our order, delivered our food, and had to flag her down for our bill. We started with the fried green tomatoes and they were flavorless. When I received my food, I never had fried chicken that tasted so bland. I put so much salt on it just to make it palatable. The fry was good but nothing seemed to have flavor. The rest of my party said their food was ok but not justified by the prices. If you are really looking for a southern experience, this is not it. It is convenient if you are staying at the MGM but that is it. I've had better tasting chicken from KFC unfortunately.

Yelp
Delish. Awesome service and tasty food. Biscuits bomb . Fried chicken, greens, and mac was good. The bar looked lovely.

Yelp
Best southern food I have tasted . The southern fried steak was so tender, I didn't need a knife. The collards! OMG! And closed it out with heavenly banana pudding. I loved the decor and the music vibe. Service was a little subpar but not enough to impact a wonderful experience.

Yelp
O yea. This is a great place I sat the bar. Asked for recommendations and each food item was a hit. Great staff. Excellent customer service. Did I say excellent customer service. Wow. There was a little spillage with guy next to me. They cleaned everything and offered to remake my food. I was half way done it I told them it wasn't necessary. I cannot wait to go back.

Yelp
The best sides I've ever had, but the main entrees were kind of lacking. We chose Nellies for our very special occasion, and were pleasantly surprised but the amazing pimento cheese fries they had as an appetizer. The cheese flavor coats the tongue, with fresh crispy fries. The Mac and cheese was so, so good and hearty. One bite and I felt like I could go to sleep, after I finish eating it course. The sautéed green beans were soft yet crunchy, flavorful. The burger was very beefy in a good way, good brioche as well with a side of fries. The mashed potatoes were good, but felt like it needed more butter. Now the fried chicken..... I wish it was good but it needed salt and spices. There was no hint of black pepper or salt in the batter at all. The meatloaf was ok, soft and tasted like meatloaf. Overall I'd come again just to eat Mac and cheese. Fun fact, the t shirts they have up front cost $35, and the fried chicken costs $32.00, buy a shirt instead of chicken!

Yelp
If you like banana pudding, which I know you do, this is perfectly balanced. Not too sweet. The peach cobbler is fresh, hot and decadently delicious. Coming again for the biscuits and strawberry shortcake.

Yelp
No no no! Chicken dinner $32.00 on the plate was cold Mac & Cheese in a small cup, a tiny thigh, a leg, one wing and one-half of a second wing. Come on I know Vegas is expensive but that was pathetic!
