Ordered delivery. Horchata was the best I've tried it was creamy and sweet. Pork tostada was huge flavorful and crispy. Mushroom sope was also huge flavorful and delicious. Definitely recommended. They also sent a few sauces which were super tasty.

Tacos are usually great and so are the chips. I saw they were offering pozole and got some. Came with a torta, great! As I was eating the pozole I felt what I thought was a chicken bone but it was a piece of plastic. I thought maybe it melted off from the plastic lid into the pozole, but nope. Lid was intact.

ive been coming to this place so many times and its always an amazing experience. staff members are kind and helpful and the food is amazing with its consistent quality. prices are also reasonable (birria combo $15) with lots of seating available in an partially indoor & outdoor patio. love coming here with friends are just enjoying a quick lunch break!

The food arrived super fast, still hot, and the packaging was amazing — everything was neatly packed, sealed well, and nothing spilled. You can tell they really care about presentation and quality. The texture was so soggy. They don’t change their gloves after handling money and touching the register. This sucks, I was a huge fan of nenes taqueria. 2/10 I would rate it. 16$ to the garbage

my real reason for posting is my confusion over how a “pollo(chicken) QUESADILLA” does not come with cheese. It’s a core ingredient in a quesadilla but mine had 0 cheese. I was so excited based on the reviews for the place but super disappointed when I tried my quesadilla. The chicken empanada was good which is why I gave a 3, it salvaged this from being a 1 star review. If cheese is not included then state that somewhere when people order online because quesadilla implies the cheese is included. It can’t be called a quesadilla if there’s no cheese, just saying. Maybe order a different item if you expect cheese in your quesadilla.

Wow where do I start? I have been a loyal fan of this establishment for some time now. Never had an issue with their food or service. I always talked to the manager when I come in about baseball etc. He seemed like such a nice person. Last weekend I ordered 2 birria tacos for pickup for my wife. As she was eating her meal she felt a horrible pain in her tooth as she bit down on something very hard. After spitting it out and investigating she sees a large piece of metal in her food!. Not only did it hurt her tooth but if she had swallowed it she would have been in an emergency situation at the hospital. Thank God she didn't swallow it. Anyone who has a grill at home can look at this piece of metal and tell that it is from a grill brush that is commonly used to clean grills. Anyone who is Anyone who grills knows the health hazards of using one of these brushes to clean your grill. When contacting the store the lady on the phone was very unapologetic. We asked to speak to the manager and she said he was not there. She took our info to have him call us. A few days later the manager named Kevin called my wife and spoke to her. It didn't even seem like a concern to him. She explained to him what happened and he was extremely silent during the process. When my wife explained to him that these type of brushes are not safe to ever use he wouldnt own up to it. All he did was say sorry and offer a refund. My wife told him we got a refund already through Uber eats. She asked him if he would like to see the pictures. He said yes so she texted it to him. The text messages where seen but he never responded to them at all. Unfortunately you lost a customer for life. No matter how good your food is at your place the lack of compassion you showed will never bring me back. If my wife had ended up in the hospital because of your staffs carelessness and lack of knowledge on grill brushes then there would have been a bigger legal matter on your head..

Right in the heart of Astoria, Los Nenes is as authentic as it gets. Their tacos al pastor are on point, the burritos are loaded with flavor, and if you’re not in a hurry, you have to try the horchata — the best in Astoria, hands down. Oh, and their paletas? Pure flavor heaven.”

Super duper! Horchata, Deluxe Birria set, Nopales taco, 2x Asada Tacos First off got a backroom with plenty of seating, second a toppings and salsa station, lastly delicious food! Self sevive style, order, grab when called, munch away We liked the birria tacos, moist, flavorful, meaty All the salsa were great and the spicy onion from the condiment station. Solid spot to satisfy your taco urges. Clean and again the horchata was on point

Honestly I'm a big price person and don't come to Astoria often, feels too gentrified now but a friend of mine wanted to go here so we went. Nenes was SO good, every time I want mexican food I struggle with finding those spots in the heights, this was a good alternative and a lot easier to find. Everything was very reasonably priced, filling, quality was good I think we'd order every single thing we got off the menu even the birria pizza. please come here.

I came because ive had this bookmarked doe awhile now and it was nearby a happy hour spot I was trying out. Because I had just eaten I only got 1 al pastor taco and a burrito special. I didn't have room to try the birria pizza this place is known for. All in all the food was good especially since they have a daily 10 dollar special. Today's was a burrito and soda for 10 bucks. I'll have to come back to see if this birria pizza is as good as I envision.

Nenes is a very solid birria spot in Astoria and def my go to. A huge fan of their birria ramen especially during the colder season - def do not skimp on meat. Birria pizza is delicious if you can split with others, doesn't hold as well as leftovers. Tried their California fries, it's okay, does the job. Lots of seating in the back with free water dispenser.

I randomly saw Nenes Taqueria as passed through the area and decided to check it out. I'm glad that I did. I ordered a few tacos (al pastor, birria and asada). They didn't disappoint! The flavors were great and the portions were nice and the tortillas were handmade. They don't skimp on the guac either. I lived in LA for years, so I've been disappointed in the past while looking for good tacos in NY. Nenes, you now have a new customer. I'll definitely be back soon!

My review is based solely on my to-go order so I can't speak to the service or ambiance. I will say is that the tacos were full of flavor and delicious. I devoured them in minutes. Next time I would ask for the tacos to be double wrapped as the corn tortillas fell apart with the amount of food and sauce from the meat. It made the experience messy but did not take away from the tastiness!

Nearly missed this place since not really eye-catching outside, but inside is a very clean, white tiled long corridor, with pops of red. Menu by the entrance, placed our order (extra charge for credit card use) then headed all the way to the back to get tables in the glass enclosed patio, clean, bright, very casual. Finished orders were announced on speaker. Found out late but by the pick-up area is a self-serve station with paper plates, plastic utensils, 3 fresh salsas (1@ mild, medium and hot) , and other toppings. There are bottled sauces in the patio area as well. Water dispenser available. Portions were generous. Prices were good, not based on the choice of protein, except lengua (tongue) for addtl $2. I guess I am not into birria but I liked steak and pork al pastor; tongue was good too. Sope is new to me- dry, fried masa with raised edges, so a good vehicle for the proteins and all the toppings. The toppings did soak up the tortilla, tostadas and nachos we ordered. Made it hard to pick up our food to take a bite so was a bit messy to eat. I didn't like the texture of their rice, and beans- I will skip these. Boing mango is mango nectar which I preferred over soda. Will try the other drink options like horchata, etc. next time. Daily lunch special @$9.99. Service is very pleasant. One restroom available.

What to say? This place HITS THE MARK every single time. First. Get the horchata. It's AMAZING. So, so good. Their nachos are a huge hit in our household. I do find ordering in person I get more bang for my buck than delivery. I believe the delivery packaging is smaller. If that makes sense. I could be wrong but I'm 99% sure there was a size difference from ordering delivery vs. Ordering at the restaurant. The birria and consomme is so fresh and delicious. Everything tasted as if it was just picked. Herbaceous. Just a lovely bite. Taco Bell, Chipotle ans the like need to take notes. The ambiance is what you'd expect of a taqueria. Nothing special. It's not supposed to be. If you'd like to take a visit to flavor town definitely visit Nene's. Cash/Card accepted!

I've ordered from the BK location plenty of times so once they announced the Astoria location, I was so excited. I've been here plenty of times - I usually pick up or order delivery - I've never dined in but the place itself is spacious & clean - The people behind the counter are always welcoming! My go-to order - chicken tacos & empanadas (chicken / cheese). When I'm having a "cheat meal", I go for the birria pie which is a must try. Everything is always fresh, tasty & quick! I def recommend if you're in the neighborhood :)

This wasn't my first time trying Nene's Taqueria. I've had it before at their Brooklyn locations. This one was more like a hallway inside then when you go to the back they have a dining area. The aesthetics are similar to the other locations. I ordered the birria pizza, birria empanadas, and birria ramen. The Birria pizza is a MUST. For the price you pay it's 100% worth it. It was my first time trying the Birria Empanadas. They stuffed the empanada and the Birria is really good. It has a good amount of flavor. The Birria ramen was packed with flavor. Plus you get a good amount of Birria meat. The horchata was refreshing and creamy. You get that hint of cinnamon in there. Nenes Taqueria is definitely a go to spot for me. Service here is really good. Their staff work really hard.

Upon entering, guests can place their orders at the register before proceeding to the end of the counter to pick up their food. This area also features a free toppings bar with several toppings, including onions, cilantro, habanero, Pico de Gallo, and various sauces to customize each dish to personal taste. For those seeking a pleasant outdoor dining experience, the dining area at the back of the restaurant provides a nice ambiance for enjoying their food al fresco. I was particularly looking forward to trying their Birria Ramen, a dish I had never experienced before. However, it was unavailable during the grand opening. So instead, I ordered: Nene's Birria Combo ($13.52): 3 Birria tacos with cheese, onions, cilantro and small cup of consommé. The tacos were so very tasty. The consommé had quite a lot of birria meat which was really nice. Birria Empanada ($4.94): fried empanada sliced open and stuffed with Birria meat, onions and cilantro. This was surprisingly messier to eat than the tacos. The empanada soaks up the consommé quite well. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal. And, as a special treat, Nene's offered complimentary drinks (Horchata, Jamaica, or Tamarindo) along with a refreshing tamarind-flavored ice pop (Paletas de Tamarindo) to celebrate their grand opening. I'm eager to return and explore more of their menu, especially the Birria Ramen and their unique Birria Pizza. Overall, a promising start for Nene's Taqueria in Queens!

Welcome to Broadway! What a nice addition to Astoria. They just recently opened and have been packed ever since. We came here yesterday for lunch and were not Disappointed. I had the birria taco and a steak taco. They are a good size for $4. Also shared an order of chips and guacamole with my best friend. The tacos were freshly made, they were a good size and had An amazing flavor. This spot is definitely worth a weekly visit! I need to try their tostadas and quesadillas. See you soon Nenes!

Walked by this spot so many times & one day I decided to finally give it a try. Sorry, camera didn't get to eat first. I love me some birria tacos & that's what I got, Nenes Combo (3 birria tacos with consome). First bite? Instant regret. Not because it was bad -- oh no. It was because I had foolishly underestimated the structural integrity of a tortilla trying to hold back a flood of juicy, seasoned birria like it was patching the Hoover Dam with a paper towel. The meat? Imagine a cow had dreams of becoming a celebrity chef, marinated in ambition and slow-cooked in pure self-worth. Fall-apart tender. The consome? Basically spicy meat tea brewed by angels. I dipped my taco like I was signing a sacred contract -- and with each bite, I lost another piece of my heart to this greasy deity of deliciousness. Also the price wasn't bad too, $15 for 3 tacos and consume. Lastly, I had their chicken burrito too. This burrito wasn't lunch -- it was an emotional rollercoaster wrapped in foil. The chicken? Juicy like it had secrets. The rice and beans? BFFs with great taste. The tortilla? Softer than my willpower. And the guac? Not "extra," just exquisite. By the end, it was falling apart -- and so was I. briefly blacked out after because the food coma kicked in really quick. Final verdict: 5/5 stars. 1 star for flavor. 1 star for texture. 3 stars for the emotional support I'll need after realizing I should have ate here sooner!!! I'll be back!

Second time getting food form Nenes Taqueria. I am now even more in love with this place! I have got nothing to add to my opinon of their food, other than I prefer everything (expect burrritos) on a corn torilla. Absolutely love the (what I am calling) "buffet o' fixings" that you have access to when you dine in or go pick up at the restaurant.

Ordered: Birria Torta (~$11): with beans, mayo, cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce, pickled jalapeños, and guacamole Birria Deluxe (complimentary; ~$14 regular price): birria taco, birria empanada, birria mulita, and consome Aya's take: I tried the original Nene's location years ago and was excited to hear that they've made their way to Astoria! This location is super clean, has plenty of outdoor seating, and a self-serve sauce & toppings bar. I decided to try the Birria Torta after seeing delicious, mouth-watering photos of it on their Instagram and even here on Yelp. Little did I know, I was going to be disappointed that my Birria Torta would not look or taste like that. When I complained to one of the employees after the fact, they offered to cover my next meal which was a nice gesture. I returned a couple weeks later and got the Birria Deluxe which was absolutely satisfyingly delicious! I like that you get 3 different styles; even though they all have birria, the difference in textures, flavors, and cheesiness made each bite so enjoyable. Honestly, I enjoyed each of them equally and highly recommend you try them all. I was impressed with the birria mulita since it has guacamole in it which cuts through the fatty/savory taste of the birria. This was truly a redemption meal and I'm glad they offered me the opportunity to give it another try!

Maybe I just ordered wrong, but seeing all the hype about this place on Reddit and Yelp, especially about the Brooklyn location, I came here expecting to have my mind blown. Don't get me wrong, these are good tacos. But nothing so different than any other Mexican establishment in Astoria is serving. These tacos are on par with what you'd get over at Ruta, super similar to the ones at 31st Ave Stop Deli (RIP). The back of the restaurant has a bunch of chairs, tables, and TV screens, super casual environment. Service here really is above and beyond though. You order at the front, then they call your name over the loudspeaker to come pick up your food. We dropped our first order on the floor which I was prepared to pay again for since it was on us (be careful when you put your order on those tables in the back, they are slippery and slanted). The manager told us not to worry about it and remade it again. I tried the birria, al pastor and lengua tacos. The birria was the clear winner of the three, and in retrospect I should've went with flour tortillas rather than corn. My partner had the California burrito which came stuffed with french fries, which was tasty. Definitely worth stopping in if you're in the mood for tacos and don't want to pay an arm and a leg to dine at Ruta.

First of all, I think it's natural to compare a taqueria in the states to Mexico lol I definitely felt like I was back there with what I ordered. The delivery was super fast! The place was really nice. The food was super flavorful. Really tasty! I got the combo birria plate and a lengua quesadilla (corn). I wish I order two more to be honest. It is super filling but a lot of us are big backs lol

Great casual little taco spot with lots of seating and quick service! The Al pastor taco was 10 out of 10, soo good. The birria burrito was also delicious and gigantic. Would def go back!

Brand-spanking new, clean, organized and super friendly staff. I loved their back patio - it's enclosed & has heat lamps. The birria combo did not disappoint, in fact I think it was better tasting than the Bushwick location. Perfectly crispy taco shells, not greasy, cheesy, flavorful meat! Not skimpy on the consume and plenty to dip your tacos in and sip afterwards! I am sooooo thrilled they opened a location in Astoria. The horchata pumpkin spice was delicious...we shared a large and couldn't finish! We will be back!

Nenes Taqueria replaced another eatery that only lasted a short while at this location Cafe Turkiye. This spot may be cursed as before that there was a Detroit style pizzeria so I am not sure if they fare any better? They have used the backyard as the main seating area and that works out quit well. As for my food, a decent but remarkable burrito was quite filling. Will I be back. No!!

This place is great, the food is well seasoned, great portions, excellent customer service, spacious restaurant, clean and great agua de Jamaica. I read the owners story that they have up on the wall and it's truly evident that he has love for his culture and shares that through food. It's also clear that he has fine dining experience. Highly recommend, had Al pastor taco, lengua loaded fries, chicken quesadilla on a corn tortilla, and a lengua quesadilla on a corn tortilla, it was all delicious and very shareable. Quality in every bite

Horrible restaurant. Two times I ordered the Birria pizza on ubereats and both times the driver only delivers the sauce. I call the drivers both times and they told me thats all the restaurant gave them. I call the restaurant and they're no help and deny the whole thing. Once might not be their fault but twice???

Don't waste your time ordering with this business especially DoorDash. Placed an order and didn't receive any updates for an hour. I call and was told by the person who picked up that my order was going out and was a complete lie and they waited another twenty minutes before they decided to cancel my order. What a complete mess. I was also told by my Dasher that they don't care about how long their customers wait for their food and intentionally will make them wait. Again, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME THEY WONT DELIVER ON TIME.

Elite birria. Usually I will order chicken, pork and steak tacos to get a good sense of each, but every time I come here I just get the birria. The other proteins are good, but the birria is on another level and has great flavor. No matter which you prefer, the tacos are loaded and will get you pretty full Service can be slow as well but they have a nice indoor area to sit down in

Great addition to Astoria taco scene. The ordering process is quick and easy and the backyard patio is a great place to chow down. Have gotten almost all of the tacos and they're phenomenal. Birria taco is insanely good - crispy, cheesy, perfect spice. They also have a great DIY bar for side sauces, pico, etc. I have seen many people order the birria pizza and it looks crazy good, have not tried yet. Great spot for a quick taco lunch.

The service is amazing & it's in a great location! I ordered the Birria pizza because it seemed fascinating & Birria is my absolute favorite. It was made fresh & I immediately started eating it. Yet...it gets so soggy right away. And I'm so sorry, but the onion and cilantro overpowered the Birria. Usually those ingredients compliment the Birria's taste. I'm still giving it a solid 4 star because the prices are decent, it has a nice overall feel and there's lots of other items I will come back to try.

The birrias tacos are addicting so good. Did not like the empanada but the tacos are delicious. My order took about 8 minutes, it was a to go order but they have seating area and everything looks clean. Definitely going back.

Astoria finally has a decent Mexican food spot. The rice and beans remind me of home and that's hard to do with Mexican food places in NYC. Tacos are decent and good enough when I'm craving some tacos. Service is great and everyone is friendly. Snickers paleta was amazing.

I ordered food from Nenes new location in Astoria today, the food was atrocious. I am what's considered a gringo Mexican, but I know what quality Mexican food tastes like and how to cook it, and this was absolute trash. It was overly oily. No birria dip with the birria tacos, the meat is dry on the asada, the Al Pastor has one pineapple per taco, which is not even grilled. It's all overpriced. The chips taste like stale oil and are grossly overly salted. A terrible experience and I will not be ordering from here again! Over priced fake disgusting Mexican food. Of course you can't get good Mexican food in New York, I was hoping to be proven wrong, sadly I was not. Do not eat at this foul establishment

The steak quesadilla was huge compared to what i used to get in JC, the price is great for the amount of food you get and it hit the spot. Got a pork taco as well which was good also, definitely ordering from here in the future.

Best place for Birria tacos , amazing flavor and amazing experience they take care of everyone and have a topping stand to grab all ur needs and have a outdoor/ indoor area to eat at with heating system and everything

The closest thing I found to West Coast style Mexican food. They even had California burritos here and Loaded Fries aka Carne Asada Fries out West. Awesome little place. The seating reminded me of Tacombi a bit.

The food is amazing! Can't say the same for the service! The cashier was the slowest I've ever seen! His focus was making drinks instead of helping the next customer on line. To ring up 3 people ahead of me it took him 15 minutes. Only one register!
