Neon Belly Coffee And Bakery - Review - North Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"In addition to a standard coffee menu, this cafe in North Austin makes creative-sounding drinks, like a baklava latte and a chai honey vanilla spice. They’re also serving pastries, cookies, and a few savory bites." - Matthew Jacobs

Cute cafe! They have some less than usual flavors like rose and ginger. I got a rose latte with oat milk - it had a nice subtle hint of rose. Super friendly baristas. It was pretty empty when we went but the vibe and decor is nice, very bright and cheery.

I’ve been waiting for this coffee shop to open for months! And I finally got to try it today! First, the atmosphere is super nice and all the staff is super friendly. Lots of comfy seating areas inside and an outdoor patio. Most importantly, the coffee is good! I tried the Orange Macchiato Iced and it was really nice with real orange zest and the Ginger Molasses cookie was great paired with it. They bake everything in-house, except for the gluten-free options. I will definitely be back, and I’m super happy to support a new local business!

Such a cute spot! Lots of options for coffee & matcha. They have baked goods and even gelato (strawberry gelato & matcha affogato is in my near future)!! There’s indoor and outdoor seating. Everyone was welcoming and nice. This will be my new neighborhood coffee spot!

This place is still very new so it’s possible they are still getting the kinks out, but unfortunately their baklava latte tastes like drinking orange juice after you brush your teeth. Just not a good drink at all even though the premise sounds nice so I’m not sure where the disconnect is. Would really not recommend this drink. I also was never greeted when I came in. I had to say hi and ask how the cashier was doing which is not how that works. The other baristas acknowledged me as the cashier took my order and when my drink was ready, but the cashier truly said…idk maybe 10 total words to me asking my milk type and telling me the total. The inside was very cute and had a variety of seating options. They also have a small patio area with tables as well. I hope they figure things out because it seems like a nice place to work for a little bit or catch up with a friend. I will probably come back once they’ve been around longer to see if another drink is palatable and will update my review if I do.

We were so excited to try this place after we saw them building it! The owner is so sweet and really cares about his customers. The staff is very accommodating and makes sure that you're satisfied and taken care of. The atmosphere is super cute and fun. The coffee is delicious and they have so many options. We ordered an iced Mocha and cold brew and both were good. We ordered 3 of their gelato flavors (strawberry, coffee, and Mexican vanilla). The Mexican vanilla was absolutely delicious as well as the strawberry. The coffee was good, but texture wasn't as smooth. They gave us a pumpkin loaf for free and it was tasty! With all of that, we had one suggestion we'd like to make. It would be nice to see a couple of simple options for some snacks/food besides sweets. Maybe some toasts or bagels to enjoy with our coffees. All in all, we will absolutely be going again and again and it was well worth the wait for it to open. ❤️

Google
Bright, cheerful, welcoming coffee place with delicious baked goods. I loved campfire (s'mores) cookie and the peanut butter brownie. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are several tables and a shaded patio with a few more. They share a large free parking lot with several other adjacent businesses in the same strip.

The moment you walk in you know this place will be a nice experience. Tasteful espresso drinks, coffee beans, authentic Italian gelato, matcha drinks and pastries. Amazing good people, vibes and keen wall art. Loved it all.

Been here a few times after they’ve opened. Super cute coffee shop! The mini sourdough loaves are so yummy, and the baklava latte is absolutely my favorite drink so far. I wish the pistachio flavor was a bit stronger, but that doesn’t make it any less delicious. The service is always good, the baristas are always so kind and welcoming as well as helpful! Love this place :)

Yelp
What an awesome little spot; I normally am not into bright colors and lots of light but the place is cute and clean and the coffee is awesome with cute treats and very nice staff. I will definitely come back and tell people I know to try. They gave me some free little mini gingersnaps with my order The Baklava Latte is awesome and not too sweet. Just enough for a morning pick me up! I love the merch to. Next time I come I may purchase a hat or a t shirt; Good job and well done! Love supporting local!

Yelp
Neon Belly Coffee, a bright and inviting space, is located on Burnet Road in a strip mall shopping center. I got the opportunity to meet Tony Latto, one of the owners. His wife is a co-owner. He told me the coffee shop reflects he and his wife's interests. Kathleen Wainwright, his wife, is represented by the cat theme, a take on Kat's name. Tony is reflected in the coffee shop's name. According to Tony, the literal definition of neon belly is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu move where you place your knee across your opponent's torso to apply pressure, control, and set up submissions. They liked that name and their interpretation is that it means happy belly, which you will receive after dining in their coffee shop. When you walk into Neon Belly Coffee you are immediately captivated by a colorful abstract wall mural, which evokes a 70's vibe. They also had cool, mellow tunes playing. Floor to ceiling windows allows for natural sunlight creating a bright and airy feel. Since his wife is a yoga enthusiast, this likely is one of her contributions to the space. Now for the coffee... Neon Coffee uses locally roasted brews. For example, they serve espresso from Creature Coffee. You will also find blends from Armadillo and Flora Coffee in addition to a full matcha bar. Their menu is rather extensive with assortment of coffee and teas. I always inquire about the most popular menu items. Tony said the baklava latte was most popular. So, I said give me that one. I did express concern about it being too sweet and I was told not to worry. OMG the baklava latte was delicious - robust, flavorful and not your typical tasting latte. In addition, I bought an orange muffin, which was good and not too sweet. They serve pastries and a variety cookies with the molasses cookie being the most popular. Additional specifics...Parking is plentiful and free. They also have designated parking spots for pickup. It is important to note that Neon Belly Coffee is dog-friendly allowing your fur babies refuge on the outdoor patio. They also have free WIFI. Importantly, they open at 6 am, so can have a leisurely cup coffee before you start your day. According to Tony, he and his wife wanted to create a space where folks come together as a community and enjoy great coffee and teas. The entire coffee shop is aesthetically pleasing with a Zen persona from the lighting and colors to the wall mural. It is not your typical coffee shop, in a very good way! P.S. I did have a molasses cookie today and it was fabulous.

Yelp
What a cute spot! We've been waiting for it to open for a while. They have a counter with a selection of baked goods (cookies, scones, biscotti, muffins, etc) and a gelato counter as well. There's a handful of tables and places to sit and chat with a friend or read a book while you sip your beverage. They partner with local roasters and they make their own baked goods, so quality is key. The verdict: Campfire cookie - very very good Pour over coffee - excellent

Yelp
This place has really adorable decor and a great color scheme. It is definitely the kind of café you want to sit in for a while. Plenty of seating if you're working, studying, or just catching up with friends. The drinks were average for me though...the rose matcha latte didn't have much rose flavor, and the baklava coffee was on the mild side too. Service was neutral, not unfriendly but not particularly welcoming. I do want to come back to try their bakery items though!

Yelp
Well, well, well... Welcome to Burnet! This place is a sleeper. Their coffee game alone is pretty legit with classics, as well as some unique drinks like "baklava latte". They have quite an array of pastries. The sourdough bites are a must try (would be great if they had some savory options like a cheesy pepperoni ). On top of all that they have a chill vibe, indoor/outdoor seating and serve multiple flavors of Gelato!

Yelp
I was patiently waiting for Neon Belly to open, it was worth the wait! The cold brew with cold foam was perfect. Great flavor and they have alt milk choices. I'm an oatmilk lover and was pleased that they offered that option. I was greeted with a friendly smile. The inside is very comfortable and they have a small patio out front with pink umbrellas! I cannot wait to go back for the bread and what looked to be some delicious pastries. Feels good to support local shops. They also have some cool merchandise. I bought a Neon Belly hat which is very cool.

Yelp
This place is easy to spot as you're driving down Burnet Road, just look for that big pink sign on the building tucked into a small strip center as you're heading north. If you're coming by bus, there's a Cap Metro stop right out front. Once inside, you'll find a bright modern inviting space with music playing overhead. Much of the coffee they have here is locally sourced and they have a kitchen in back making those fresh baked goods. They even sell locally sourced gelato. They have an extensive coffee and tea menu, including iced matcha. They also have gluten-free options, nonalcoholic beer, even organic chocolate bars. This is a great place to crack the laptop open and enjoy coffee that puts Starbucks to shame. There is some outdoor seating facing Burnet Road. The only thing missing here is a drive up window. Some other facts you may wish to be aware of is the fact they do allow dogs, but only on the patio, not inside. They do have online service and curbside service. They do not have a lunch menu, but they do offer fresh made egg salad. I personally would like to see them expand the breakfast menu to include donuts, kolaches, and croissant sandwiches, but what they have is good. Their prices are very reasonable and I highly recommend the baklava latte. Free wifi as well. Friendly staff and passionate owners serving up fresh and locally made fare. Open at 6 AM seven days a week which makes it the perfect stop for your early morning commute. Plenty of parking as well. Check out the informative photos and video below to get you through the door.

Yelp
Heard about this place through Austin Coffee Ride and decided to stop in when I had a few hours to kill in between shifts. It's a lovely, bright space and you can tell there's a thoughtful touch to the design of the place--I especially appreciated the bar tape on the door handles. I just had the cold brew and sampled the peanut butter cookie which were both delicious. Drinks and food items were unique and I'll definitely have to come back to try more items! Best of all, the staff was warm and welcoming.

Yelp
Unfortunately from now on I will be waking up earlier to take a more inconvenient, stoplight addled commute to work in the morning because the baklava latte I had was genuinely SO freaking good. It's sitting at my desk going lukewarm because I'm practicing willpower by not finishing it in thirty seconds I recently had one from another coffee shop and this one blew it out the water tbfh. I was a barista for 5 years so I'm quite picky with new Austin coffee shops, especially in this area, everything just tastes way too burnt to cost $8 (not this latte I had). You can tell when employees are being trained properly/treated well by the level of care that goes into the product. Everyone working inside was kind for it being the crack of dawn!! I'll definitely be back because those pastries looked insane :-~)

Yelp
I had an interview at ACC Northridge campus, so I stopped at Neon Belly beforehand to finish prepping. The barista who took my order was conversational and kind. He recommended the rose latté and explained what their blueberry, cream cheese, and sourdough bread rolls were all about. I asked what protein-rich options they had and he recommended their homemade egg salad. All three were absolute home runs!! The blueberry sourdough was perfectly baked. The rose latté was made with foam art on the top in a big mug and the egg salad was yummy with mustard and pickles. The inside is quiet, artistic, and well lit. They have some wood furniture outside as well. Definitely will be coming back -- especially if I get hired to teach at the Northridge campus :D thanks Neon Belly.

Yelp
The service was great, the coffee was awesome and the Blueberry Scone I had was to die for!

Yelp
Amazing!! Delicious baked goodies and coffee. Easy parking, beautiful dog friendly patio, cool vibes. Can't wait to order the matcha and enjoy this lovely coffee shop! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Delicious! The sourdough bread never made to the kitchen! I had most of it eaten before I got out of the car. Can't wait to get more! Don't even get me started on the goodies.
