The Best Way to Staycation in St. Paul, Minnesota | Eater Twin Cities

"Downstairs from the Turf Club, the Clown Lounge provides a basement-level, smaller-scale venue for intimate shows that contrast nicely with the main room's larger concerts." - Justine Jones

Love this spot! It felt like we were hanging out in a 70s rowhome basement. Definitely cozy and so fun. Every time you look around you see something new. Drinks were great. Service was awesome, everyone is so nice. Gives me the perfect reason to dress up in silly outfits. Good for small groups.

**Maybe instead of being offended and defecting take accountability for the actions of your workers.** My family and I visited this establishment early January and we had a pleasant time. The atmosphere was great. The drinks were great. We really enjoyed the vibe. So yesterday, my family comes back into town.We go out to eat then we decide to go to the clown bar again because we had a great time the first time. This time we had two old friends that never experienced this bar. So we were excited to show them the experience. We make our way into a packed joint. The music and vibe were great . We make our way over to the lounge area find a little spot. Then we go get drink. There we were met with attitude, and disgusting customer service from two of the most ignorant, self-absorbed, arrogant Bar tenders that are the representation of this establishment. It started off with the arrogant bartender. We don’t know his name, but he is quite short man with a bad attitude. My family is spending money in this bar and we’re ordering drinks. We ordered a round. He was bringing them over and we were adding more to the tab. So he had to make a lot of drinks. We always leave the card open because we’re going to return to keep buying drink. He gave my Partner and his sister, such a disgusting attitude. Because he had to do his job. My partner and I decided that we’re not gonna spend any more money here. So we went to go sit down and enjoyed the drinks we got and left it alone. We encountered a pink haired gentleman with the same kind of vile arrogant, stuck up attitude toward patrons. Sly and cocky remarks to the other bar tender. Cocky attitude while navigating his way through the crowded bar. We got our drinks found us a nice little table and we’re enjoying The night. When the shorter of the two bar tenders comes by stops in front of me looks at me and says this is a hallway. We we were standing at a table that was right next to not a hallway, but an entryway to another room. That had a table with two chairs, two barstools and another chair on the other side of the Entryway. With the seating provided to us, we decided to occupy that area. Us as patrons did not set up the area. I completely ignored his arrogance because clearly it’s tied to something else that clearly needs to be worked out and we continued on with our evening. At the end of the day, the two bar tenders that were working that night are disgrace for business and should not treat patrons with such a degrading and disgusting attitude. Do better clown bar. We will return and if we do face the same challenges with your two bar tenders this time myself and my family are not gonna keep our mouth closed and we’re gonna give a piece of our mind and asked to speak to upper management. Completely uncalled for a neighborhood bar that introduce its new patrons as the neighborhood grows. With people that wanna come spend money. The clown bar seems to need some training in customer service and hospitality.

Small bar, lower energy if thats your vibe, check it out. I liked the cool lamps they had!

This is a fantastic stop. Super eclectic retro clown vibe. I had a cocktail with a Thai chili garnish that was amazing. You don't have to be a clown to visit, just in case you were wondering.

This place is incredible, and I dig the folks working it. Interiors are immaculate, the layout is perfect, the decor is chefs kiss 💋. However, I’m truly & severely disappointed in the NA options. Just bring in an NA beer or wine if you’re gonna offer (unbalanced) fruit juice mocktails - or better yet charge me over market value for a phony negroni. I’d love to make this a regular hang but as I don’t drink alcohol much - it’s likely to just be an occasional one. *sigh*. The cocktails look great though, you should absolutely go if you’re on the fence and you drink alcohol.

I felt that the clown decor was very adequate for the name. It was a cool little space! Drinks were good

What I expected and what I got, based on the name, was not the same. More clown decorations are needed. Or a name change. The cocktails and mocktail choices are worth checking out though. The bartender was helpful. Small bathroom. Small space overall. Definitely not a place for a large group. This is a 70s lounge, not a clown lounge.

cool vibe but crowd was very basic and drinks were nothing too special.
