Five Social Justice Causes Seattle Restaurants Are Supporting | Eater Seattle

"I learned that First Hill’s Little Neon Taco recently raised $11,000 for a cause that provides cash bail for marginalized people charged with crimes who cannot afford it and are incarcerated while awaiting court appearances in King and Snohomish Counties." - Gabe Guarente

Neon Taco’s Walk-Up Window Will Close at the End of March | Eater Seattle

"A match made in binge-drinking heaven, Neon Taco’s walk-up window inside Capitol Hill’s Nacho Borracho is being shut down: Chef Monica Dimas announced the last day slinging tacos there will be March 31. Neon Taco posted the news on its Facebook page and even hinted at future expansions, asking, “where should we open our next Neon Taco?”" - Megan Hill

How a Chef Overcame Doubt to Make a Beloved Mexican Restaurant on First Hill | Eater Seattle

"Earlier, that little pop-up evolved into Neon Taco in 2016 as a permanent taco window in the back of Nacho Borracho, part of Dimas’s slow, deliberate expansion from pop-ups into a lasting concept before she upsized to Little Neon Taco in April 2018." - Jackie Varriano

All I can say is wow! I first came here a few years ago and had a very negative experience. Poor service and subpar food almost made me not want to return. However, I’m so glad I gave it another chance. They’ve really turned things around with a great new menu and excellent service. We got the Birria Neon Tacos, Neon Crunchy Wrap, and two Neon Burritos. Our server was fantastic, and all of the food was fairly priced and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by how good their espresso martini was too! I’ll be back whenever I’m at the Ozarks!

Google
That taco salad was exactly what I needed today. Great service, great business, spectacular location. Edit/update I've been back like 4 times now and its been magnificent every time. Today the bartender made me a delightful espresso martini, and our server Mason was very helpful and friendly, even gave us a few recommendations in the area.

Google
Been wanting to go since they opened and just hadn't got a chance to make it and now im regretting not going there earlier .....the food is so good and the steak ......mouth watering in the steak nacos and fajita bowl..... new favorite spot here 👏👏

Google
Walked in for lunch and walked down to the outside seating. Sat ourselves because thats what we've done in the past. The server told us if we seat ourselves we cant order food, only drinks. So we got up with our kids, walked back up the stairs around to the front and got seated at the exact same table. Then she refused to serve us and we had another server. So strange. The food was good and atmosphere was perfect. Our kids loved it. Thanks to our new server who took over and took care of us.

Google
It took awhile for our group to be tended to and they didn’t seem super busy at the time, but the server was very friendly. Food was great I had street tacos and would recommend. The live music was great and they even had a free mechanical bull upstairs along with the glambot machine! This was during Ozark bike fest and my bachelorette trip!

Google
Family was craving some good Mexican food! The service was great. I get it we have 3 small children. However, the wait was a long time to get anyone to notice us and after we got our food then the server only checked once when we were almost done and then waiting for the check and to ask for a togo box took 10-15 minute. LONG TIME WITH SMALL CHILDREN. We went at a slow time so there were only 2 other tables throughout all levels of the restaurant. Bathrooms were clean and the view outside was great! Maybe going to eat on a Sunday afternoon at 4 was not a good time for the staff?! Either way, food was great! Drinks were yummy and could taste the liquor.

Google
We went on a Sunday. Wasn't very busy. They seated us took 20 minutes to take our order. Once the ball got rolling, it tasted good. Guacamole was amazing. Margaritas great. Taco plater was great. We shared it with 4 people. Really cool atmosphere. A tad expensive for what it is but it is a tourist area.

Jessica W.

Google
Catherine was amazing as our server. She was on top of her game getting our food out and keeping our drinks filled. The food was phenomenal. The best food on the ozarks!

Yelp
We celebrated a birthday at Neon Taco on the covered patio during a rainy day and it ended up being the perfect spot for the occasion. The space had such a fun vibe (even with the weather) and it really made the celebration feel special. The staff were super responsive to our DMs on Instagram, which was so appreciated. We had a group of 40+ on a holiday weekend, and they accommodated us with ease. Service was fast all things considered, and the spicy margaritas were a hit across the board. The DJ was great as well! A few things to note: the food portions were very small for the prices, and the bill wasn't separated by person until the very end. With such a big group, it turned into a bit of a nightmare to sort everything out. Also, the space isn't wheelchair accessible, which is important to know ahead of time if that's a consideration for your group. All in all, great drinks and vibes, and a solid spot for a celebration.

Yelp
Wish there was negative star review option. I will say this..... The customer service in Missouri is awful. Especially here!! 45 minutes for tacos!! Bar drinks are delicious. Come for a drink l, view and LEAVE. It seems like all the people servicing you not want to be there and don't give a shit. I guess Missouri is living up to its name Misery

Yelp
The place has a cool vibe with all the artwork and its modern aesthetic. There was music playing outside, and I didn't have to wait long to be seated with my group of six adults and two babies. The service was good; our waiter was friendly, got all our orders correct, and had a great sense of humor. Now, here are my positives and negatives about the food: Negatives: I ordered a Starry, but it was flat and lacked carbonation, so I switched to lemonade instead. Additionally, I tend to prefer larger portions, and while the burrito looked great, I felt there were very few fries served with it. Overall, my meal cost over $30 (including tip), which felt a bit steep for what I received. Positives:The food and drinks were good, and the atmosphere was fun. The service was excellent, and I would definitely consider going back. Overall, I recommend checking out this place and forming your own opinion. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the Ozarks!

Yelp
We went to neon taco for lunch on a Saturday. We were sat immediately and ordered the El Jefe margaritas and also had the Cadillac. I liked the Cadillac better. Our server was great; friendly and attentive! The vibe was fun! The food was pretty good. Guacamole was a little bland.

Yelp
Looks like a tourist trap... is a tourist trap. Food was edible but it's not remotely good. Great location to look out over the water and drink I'd imagine but if your going because your hungry for Mexican food I'd look elsewhere.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
expected this place to be a tourist trap but was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. service was good at the bar. i bet it is hopping on the weekends. the guac was tasty - it could have used a bit more seasoning but definitely tasted homemade. the taco platter was a steal which ended up being $25 for nine tacos, rice, beans, corn and fajita veggies. the al pastor taco was the star of the show. the combination with the pineapple and onions was phenomenal. the steak and the chicken were tasty too. definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
This is a fun place on the lake for a lunch date. Sitting out by the water was nice, however the food and drinks were ok. The price was high for the amount of food that was part of the order. I got the fish tacos which was delicious, my husband got a very small crunch wrap with no sides which was very small. For a taco place, I would have hoped the margaritas would be good, but they were just ok. Service was very good.

Jimmy D.

Yelp
So a buddy of mine went in there the other day and there were maybe 15 people dining in the restaurant. We walked up to the bar and we were greeted right away which I will say was a plus. I asked for a water with lemon in which the bartender said he doesn't have lemons. Now granted this is a tequila bar so I understand having no lemons but he could have suggested so limes ( again I'm being Nick picky on this subject) So we ordered our margaritas which were incredible and then ordered our food. I ordered the California burrito and he ordered the hot Cheetos taquittos - both our foods came out in record time ( which was a red flag to me) my burrito was luke warm but edible and my buddy's taquito's were completely frozen in the middle. How does an establishment serve frozen food with just 15 people in their establishment. They gave him a new plate and the taquito's were burnt but he just ate them. The manager never came to apologize and all they did was take $10 off for frozen/burnt food. Complete waste of time with this place

Yelp
Cool theming definitely not enough neon and Blacklight vibes . The food here is cold and not cooked the tacos here taste like a homeless person . The food here is just not good like it's so bad that it makes shady gators look decent . The staff here have the personality's of a really bad sunburn . Overall The name Neon and taco should be two different things . And unfortunately this is the only " taco " place on the lake and it's not good not even in the slightest bit .

Bart S.

Yelp
Andy was FANTASTIC. Her service, energy, and attention was top notch. I would ask for her when you come and visit. Ambiance at sunset time is a good time to come and have dinner on the deck. Taco platter was pretty filling, but steak tacos were meh, I would stay away from those. Drinks were good.

Yelp
Looks like a tourist trap, in the location of one, but give it a shot. Really great food, great service, and cool merchandise. Really enjoyed the vibe and was good for two young boys.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a cool spot to enjoy your meal by the lake, and there are great views from all levels of this restaurant! The staff are prompt and food was good

Yelp
We liked this place! It was very aesthetic and cute! There are many stories / steps. Our food was tasty and the service was good!!

Yelp
Drinks and view were amazing. I was in a group of 6 and 4 of us got flights the others got single margs. We also did a round of shots, apps and meals. Everything came out fast and accurately. My only complaint is that they don't have prices listed for any drinks.
google avatar

Braden A.

Yelp
Everything outside of the human tooth I found in my food was incredible which is why it is a 4. The street tacos had a zesty lime mixed with savory beef that is bound to satisfy your taste buds. However one of these bites was mixed with a human toot

Morgan B.

Yelp
FOOD POISONING!!!! Worst food poisoning of my life . The rest of my family was fine. Thank goodness. Can't say I'll ever be back .

Ian D.

Yelp
Great tacos nice flavor. Love the chips and salsa too oh and can't forget about the volcano sauce its amazing!!

Tee J.

Yelp
Maybe we caught a bad day at Neon Taco. We had been to NT 2 times before over the last 3 summers and it didn't seem have bad food at the time. This time there were 7 of us. Three adults and a tween. WE all thought food was awful and several dishes were cold. Even the fries and toasted crunch. There are many other restaurants on the lake with much better food for the same price or slightly above.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
Neon Taco is a newer place along the main strip at the Lake of the Ozarks, and in my opinion it's one of the better places to stop in for a bite! I loved that it has plenty of seating and great views of the lake if you sit on the back patio. We didn't eat a ton here so I can't speak to the food, aside from chips, guac, and queso, which were all pretty standard fare. We did, however, all enjoy margarita flights which were so fun and tasty. It was a perfect place for a group of gals to hang out and enjoy a sunny afternoon. I'd add in that we had an incredible server the day we were there - so friendly, and even gave us recommendations for places to visit during our stay.
google avatar

Christian H.

Yelp
My family and I love this place!!! We happen to come across it while on vacation at the Ozarks. Glad we decided to check it out. It is one of the coolest restaurants I have ever eaten at. A very Instagram worthy spot! Bright colors, sugar skulls everywhere, neon signs, quirky quotes, and a beautiful view of the lake! Place has its own dock as well! The service we have experienced has been top notch! Their recommendations, attention to detail, and overall pleasantness has been amazing!! Food and drinks are delicious! We love it so much that we buy swag every time we eat here! It has become a must stop at the lake for us! Can't wait to go back!

Anay A.

Yelp
Our party was waiting for over an hour to get sat, multiple tables that came after us were sat before us. We finally got sat after we asked and our table waited again and no one brought out a water pitcher or any hello for another 20 minutes. We had to leave after waiting over an hour for any type of service. Please do better. We understand it's a holiday and we tried being very patient but it's frustrating when we got no acknowledgment over and over.

Yelp
Such a fun place and great food!! We decided to go on Taco Tuesday so my friend could do the bottomless tacos. It's actually a buffet style so they give you a wristband and you go up to the buffet and they give you two tacos each time. You pick your protein and tortilla and they give you your two tacos (you can get two different proteins if you want) and then you serve up your own toppings and sides. My friend loved the shrimp the best and then thought the chicken was really good as well. The street corn was just okay, we thought it could use more flavor. I ordered the chips and queso and LOVED the queso. The street tacos (I got without onion) were great and they don't skimp on the protein. You get two tacos and a side with your order. I opted for the fries but they weren't very good fries, no salt and a little dry/over cooked. But the tacos were super good so it made up for it! We also both ordered the watermelon mojitos which we enjoyed. We sat outside on the top floor. The sun was in our eyes but once it went down, it was good vibes. I will say the silver metal barstools are not big girl friendly so I got some bruises on my thighs but that's really my only complaint!

Alexis T.

Yelp
Lexie was an AMAZING server! She was super sweet and kept a conversation with us every time she came to check on our table. Definitely coming back!
google avatar

Jackie F.

Yelp
Just went here this past weekend. Even though it was the weekend of the Fourth of July, it wasn't too packed. There was one table left inside, and we decided to sit outside for the view. That was a slight mistake as it was way too hot and a lot of the fans and misters weren't hitting our table (we stuck it out). Live music outdoors helped us through. My frozen margarita was perfect even though it took a little bit to come out. Service overall was a bit slow for the amount of tables available. Our food came out in a timely manner even with it being 7 of us in the group. I ordered the Mahi Tacos and they were good. A great portion for the price. For my side I picked chips and salsa, which was a good amount of chips with a small serving of spicy salsa verde that was too spicy for me. I powered through. Would go back as it is a nice place on the water! Definitely a great addition to the Bagnell Dam area.
google avatar

Angelina L.

Yelp
Went here on a bachelorette trip and had a good time! The atmosphere is super fun and I love all the pink. The drink menu was awesome. I found a lot to be very good. The food was just okay. I ordered the steak tacos and the meat was chewy and had lots of fat. Their street corn side was delish but I think the drinks are the star of the show.

Karis H.

Yelp
The best restaurant on the lake ever!! The service was incredible and our waiter was really friendly. The crunchy wrap was my favorite!

Jennifer W.

Yelp
First time to Neon Taco. Food was great, service was great and the vibe was great. We sat outside and kids played foosball.
google avatar

Victoria S.

Yelp
Chaselynn was an amazing waitress that conquered a 15+ table for my girls bachelorette party. Everyone had 3+ drinks, food, and (separate) check in under 1 hour. Del Mar bowl was fire.
google avatar

Steve P.

Yelp
Cool place on the very end of the north strip. Went for lunch with a party of 5. Sat on the covered patio (recommended!). We had margaritas, tacos, and burritos. Food was good. Drinks decent. Service was great! Family crowd in the daytime, younger crowd at night. Some cool shirts too. A bit pricey for the style, but would go back.
google avatar

EliZabeth V.

Yelp
I had the burrito to go... I thought at first it was pricy but it was a huge portion so well worth the money! Very yummy, and to go margs too! Wooo
google avatar

Lauren N.

Yelp
love to eat here because it was right off the water. the food was good. except i love street corn and i ordered it here and it was cold, which i think it's supposed to come like that but i wasn't a fan. the carne asada tacos were very good though. and the salsa 10/10
google avatar

Callie S.

Yelp
We stopped in while visiting from Arkansas. The trio and neon bowl were both excellent. The bowl was more than I could eat & also more than my husband could eat, but it was delicious (with chicken). Best margaritas I have had in a while!
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Our group of 10 came in for a rainy tues lunch. We were seated immediately & Celeste our server got our drink orders. There are no prices for any of the drinks - doing understand why this is. I sampled the house & Cadillac marg but ordered the Top Shelf margarita. I thought the house marg tasted kind of funky but the other two were really good & packed a boozy punch. We munched on endless chips & salsa ($7.99) while we waited for our food. The salsa is a medium heat level. My chimichanga looked a & was tasty mostly because of the cheese sauce & enchilada sauce. Street corn was salty, sweet & had a nice seasoning on top. Our server provided good service but with not much friendliness just business like. Just a warning about the salsa that comes with any fajita entree ...it is fire!
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
FOOD? Looked nice but overpriced and bland. The only think with any flavor that I could drink was the salsa. SERVICE? Absolutely sucked, waitress disappeared, never checked on us, didn't bring us the things we asked for and if she would have checked on drinks, we would have drank more and possibly not beef so underwhelmed!!! We waited and waited for her to return for another drink while we were still eating. Then done eating waiting on someone to clear out tables and ask if we needed ANYTHING. Finally we had to ask a busboy for our check, we gave him our card and then waited and waited. Had to go ask for it back!!! AMBIANCE? The view was amazing as was the music but unfortunately in all things they lacked, I could have gotten similar feels with AirPods on a bench and it would have been a couple hundred dollars cheaper!!!
google avatar

Kristen B.

Yelp
We decided to do our annual Bagnell Dam bar hop in the hear of the day....not the wisest choice we've ever made. Neon Taco was stop two and new to us. They have a deck off the main strip and two decks overlooking the lake with an amazing view (Better than Skinny Dipz view which will be my next review). They have indoor dining as well but it was just as hot inside as it was putside...a/c just cant keep up. $24 for a bucket of domestics (5 beers) or $26 for a bucket of imports (also 5 beers). We decided we needed a snack at this stop and got the $7.99 bottomless chips and salaa. Very tasty salsa (not chunky with a nice heat). Menu appears to have a good selection.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
The food here is delicious but I feel a bit over priced. The prices can be justified by the water view and live music which are an added bonus to eating here! The place has a super upbeat and fun vibe to it. The frozen margaritas had the perfect consistency (we really liked the strawberry banana one). Our waitress was really interactive and super helpful the whole time. I would recommend coming here.
google avatar

Missy D.

Yelp
Great food and great atmosphere! Would love to go again. Has chicken tacos and they were delicious. Salsa was great.

diana a.

Yelp
Went there for lunch. I had the southwest salad. The chicken was so delicious. Will definitely go back

Morgan C.

Yelp
Food was great but the live music was WAAYYYY too loud. Asked to sit as far as way from the stage as possible on the bottom floor and still couldn't hear people on my own table. Honestly have a headache by the end of the night and couldn't decide if they were trying to be a college bar or an actaul restaurant. Frustrating, but food was good and highly recommend the queso.
google avatar

Kathleen M.

Yelp
Fun! Funky! Flavorful! Let's start with the atmosphere... how fun! But you'd expect it just from the name of the restaurant. Drive your boat up to their dock for a quintessential Strip experience. Start the experience at the street bar with a good frozen margarita that doesn't disappoint. No skimping on the alcohol here like some many other LOTO hot spots. Head down to the lake level for a spirited game of foosball fun on an extra long table. Then ask to be seated on the deck, overlooking your boat and the lake. The food is as good as the atmosphere. For a limited menu, there's a nice selection of yummy options. Neon tacos and burritos are a fun, flavorful taste of traditional Mexican. If you order shrimp tacos on corn tortillas ask them to double up on the tortillas. Why? A single corn tortilla is not sturdy enough for the juicy, stuffed filling. Grab a lot of napkins, too. You'll need them.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
I see others had a bad experience here, and because we were visiting on Lake Race Day, my expectations were super low. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The hostess seemed a little confused on what was going on, but once we were seated, our server was great. He was very attentive and checked on us multiple times. We ordered a bowl and a taco, and thought both were very good! They didn't skimp on the bowl toppings and the fries that came with the taco were crispy and really good. Drinks came our quickly each time, but the food service was very slow. Maybe because of the event (or based on other reviews, maybe they are always slow). Either way, come with patience and enjoy the view!
google avatar

Kelsey S.

Yelp
I came here for the boat race event. I did not try the food but the experience was amazing. The view of the lake and the dam were gorgeous. You're on the main strip and the experience here was so nice. They have boat slips for rent and have indoor and outdoor seating. Two bars and awesome margaritas. I had a wonderful time here over the weekend. Next time I'd love to try the food!

Kristin J.

Yelp
I've been in the service industry for 17 years and Bailey was probably top 5 servers I've ever had, what a gangster.
google avatar

Yvette T.

Yelp
The street tacos and street corn was good. The food service was prompt, the drinks not much. Our server did come back twice to tell us that our drinks were coming, so apparently the establishment is aware that the timeliness of drink service is an issue.
google avatar

Brandon T.

Yelp
Had a great time there. Calamari was good, just wish it was a larger portion. Street tacos were good. The Cadillac margarita got me trashed.
google avatar

Jacky L.

Yelp
Amazing view and I could eat the chicken tacos and queso everyday! Will be back every weekend
google avatar

Bosco B.

Yelp
Great location! Close to the dam and has some boat parking. I would probably give the food just three stars but the service was excellent. Our waitress Chloe recommended the quesadilla, the street corn, and the neon bowl. They're all pretty good, but my favorite was the quesadilla. Even when it was crowded, the staff seem to be enjoying themselves, and that's always a good sign to me. We will go back for the view and the service. They could use some better drink specials but they did have some good high end tequila!!
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
Love Neon Taco! Ideal for large groups. Plenty of not parking and fast service. Love the queso flight and brunch menu.
