I am a fan of Indian food and all the different flavors and spices they have, it's always a good mix. The only problem we'll always have it's that it's very spicy hot, and my wife can't enjoy it. I like spicy food, but the one here got me. I won't say I didn't like it, because it was really good, it was just too much for me 😆

Service was attentive and the food was fire with great portions too! We started with chicken samosas appetizer then got chicken tiki masala with lamb vindaloo- SO GOOD and flavorful. Oh, and we also ended up getting 2 orders of Garlic Naan!! Mango Lassi was delicious. We’ll definitely be coming back. :)

Small, quiet place with excellent food. I had a chicken chilli Marsala, tandoori naan, and Indian tea. It came out piping hot with enough food for leftovers (guess what I'm having for dinner?!). Clean place, good service. The only challenge is parking. In the heart of Little India, so lots of shopping nearby.

Clean look with sober decor. Very pleasant hostess/server/cashier/waitress. Excellent food quality. The chicken vindaloo was spicy but delicious. The salty Lassi was garnished with some greens and cumin powder: after the first taste shock, it was very refreshing. Family friendly and cozy. One area could host 18 at 3 tables. Clean rest room, but soap needed refilling (minor irritation). Yes, I would return and taste other items on the menu.

Date nights are delicious at Nepal House! We had the samosas and chicken tikka masala and left so full & satisfied. Generous portions + flavorful food = perfect!

NOTE: am re-writing this review because the original review I wrote last year has mysteriously disappeared. If you are watching your spending, you will want to avoid this place. Their prices are very high for food you could get at most other Indian restaurants for less $$$. I had a taste for Indian food one night and being that I'm handicapped in a wheelchair, I placed an order online. I did not pay much attention to their prices (I was very hungry) but rather went with the food I especially like. BIG MISTAKE. I ended up spending $80 for what should have been half or 3/4 that much. Basically what I got was okay, nothing to write home about, pretty much what I could expect from other Indian restaurants, but quite a bit more expensive. For instance, an order of pappadum was $5 for 4 pcs. For that money I could buy a package of 10 at any grocery store in Little India for under $3. They charge $5 for naan whereas Ghareeb Nawaz down the street charges $1 -- and you get a gigantic homemade naan made in their tandoori oven. For $1!!! I was very surprised to see dishes that I would consider side orders costing the same price as an entree -- $17.95 for Aloo Gobi -- no meat, just cauliflower and potatoes. $16.95 for Palak Paneer -- creamed spinach with a few blocks of Indian cheese. To me that's like charging $17.95 for an order of mashed potatoes with gravy and a bit of sage stuffing thrown in. Ridiculous. They do have a Nepalese item I would definitely recommend -- something called Mo-Mo, which are little crimped dumplings either fried or steamed. They are a bit pricey at $16.95-$17.95 & you only get 8. They are small, about the size of a Kennedy half dollar -- If you're super hungry you'd probably want a double order -- but you'll end up paying $34 for them. If you've got that kind of money, go for it. Myself, that is way out of my league. The amount they give you is not a whole lot. I thought for $80 I'd have a few days of leftovers. I didn't. I had some for the next day but not much. Never again will I order food from a new place I've never ordered from when I'm starving! Very dangerous & very expensive!

Pretty good takeout. We've ordered a few times from Nepal House but never been into the restaurant until recently. This review is about our first visit to the restaurant. From the outside it is corner storefront with loads of windows and looks inviting. Inside it fairly big with a small bar in the center of the room. We came here on a Friday night, it was moderately busy but we were seated immediately. The menu is extensive with many Indian and Nepalese items. Many vegetarian options. We decided to split some samosas as a appetizer, I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala, my friend had Paneer Makhani and my partner had a chicken dish. We ordered a couple of orders of Garlic Naan to share. We had Indian beers to drink. The samosas arrived with a couple of sauces. The samosas were huge with very thick crust. The thick crust was kind of a gummy mess, the stuffing was not great. The sauces did not really help much. After about 10 mins, our entrees arrived with the naan and rice. Everything looked good. The naan was the star of the meal, cooked crispy with the correct amount of gee and garlic. My masala was good, everyone else said their food was good too. Nothing outstanding other than the naan. This might be a 3 1/2 star review if possible. Overall, service was fair, food was goodish, atmosphere was better than most in this neighborhood. Skip the samosa, and order more naan. So many BETTER restaurants and in this neighborhood.

As an Indian Punjabi it is really difficult to find good Indian food! We've ordered from here and catered from here multiple times and I have to say the past year their food has gotten much better! Absolutely love the paneer makhni, which is savory and can be catered to your spice level. Also love the chili paneer, chicken makhni, garlic noodles, fried rice, momos, and their chili paneer masala. Recent thing we tried was navratan korma which was a pleasant surprise! Love this place!

I am a tough grader. Restaurants don't get 5 stars unless they have a Michelin star. But I like this place. Would easily be my favorite place for sub continent cuisine in Lincolnwood area. This is a small place, possibly family run. Walking in, you immediately notice the cloth tablecloths and napkins. Very clean place. Friendly waitstaff, which is always a plus. We ordered the monos, which I recommend. We ordered butter chicken and chicken Madras. Both were wonderful; they were made with a coconut cream base, giving a full, rich flavor. We had the paneer tika masala as well. Good flavor, but the paneer itself was a bit underwhelming. The easiest way to compare Indian restaurants is through their naan. This is where this place shines. Flavorful and buttery, just the way I like it. Excellent choice for a moderate priced, ethnic restaurant.

Nice ambiance and server was friendly. Had the pappadam and chutneys. Just ok and only two chutney choices. Chicken tikka was hearty and flavorful. Very strange that they have a bar full of liquor bottles but do not have cocktails, nor did they have wine today. We selected the place as it had good reviews and we felt like a cocktail. Server said the bar is just set up for the owners. Bizarre. Think it is ok, but likely a lot of better options nearby.

We stopped by Nepal house while visiting Chicago. We ordered Momos; momo chilli and steamed. Both of them were fantastically delicious and flavorful. Would go back for sure.

This restaurant on Devon Street offers Nepalese cuisine. Went there for the first time and saw that the ambiance was pretty neat and clean. We found that the service was a bit slow. Additionally, the overall taste wasn't that great for the price that was charged (~$17 for an appetizer!). We ordered the Veggie momos appetizer - felt it was a bit bland. We had also ordered tea which was good. Note - we were able to use our check-in offer and got 20% off of the order total.

Subpar service but amazing food. I can hear with a few friends and we all thought the food was amazing. We had a bunch of dishes family style with different flavors and most were amazing with maybe just 1-2 that were good. Would totally recommend coming if you want some banging Indian food. Just don't expect the service to be great since they were somewhat understaffed when we were here.

Really yummy . They let you pick the level of spice. Their chicken Tikka masala and palak are great, but the portion sizes are small for the price.

Oh wow. These momo are next level food. I highly recommend trying the signature chili fried chicken momo. They have a slightly crisp texture from the wok and a delicious sweet but quite spicy sauce that's nicely cooked into the dumpling. It's simply one of the best foods I've ever had, and the portion size is nice. I want to come back and try the more Indian fare but needed to start out trying the Nepalese first. Great service, clean restaurant. Awesome food. GO TRY THESE MOMO!

We mainly came to try out MoMos for the first time and they were incredible! We had the chicken steamed MoMos and despite being ground chicken, the meat was not dry at all. The filling was flavorful and the wrap wasn't too thick, which is hard to achieve. The staff was attentive and helpful, and the manager was so kind! The restaurant inside is cozy and clean. The bathroom is spacious and also very clean. The dining room has seats for small parties are larger ones (there was a party of 10 when I dined in). Overall, I'm looking forward to coming back!

Stopped by while at Devon street with my parents for lunch. Everything was delicious! We got the vegetable momo, chicken choila, malai kofta, navratan korma, and garlic naan. Service was very fast. Ambiance- quiet restaurant, only one other party there at lunch time on a Saturday. Vegetable momo- Steamed, we asked for it spicy. The vegetables were fresh and this was very flavorful. The sauce was delicious, will definitely return to try the steamed chicken momo. This is their specialty. Chicken Choila- another nepalese specialty. Very flavorful chicken, we asked for this spicy as well. The chicken isn't piping hot, more room temperature (we were warned beforehand by the waitress), but still a lot of flavor! Definitely recommend trying. Malai Kofta- another vegetarian dish, we asked for it spicy. Very creamy, very flavorful. Navratan Korma- Spicy, I did not try this but my mom said it was "excellent." Garlic Naan- Piping hot, fresh, delicious. Will definitely be trying their other location as well since it is much closer to my place.

Small Charming clean table clothed clean space, Very nice friendly service, delicious momo's served with an excellent dipping sauce. The Baingan Bhatia and Saag Paneer was also very good as was the mango Laska! I'd go back anytime in was in that area.

Nepal House, a Thai restaurant, offers an excellent culinary experience despite its busy atmosphere and less-than-perfect service. The food is outstanding, with vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients that make each dish a delight. The exceptional quality of the cuisine more than compensates for any service shortcomings, making Nepal House a worthwhile dining destination.

Solid 2.5. I have many things to say. First the fried chicken mo mo was good! We ordered medium spicy and it ran a little hot but was good. 4/5 Next up we had the shrimp chao mein which was pretty good! Again a bit spicy for medium but we liked it. 3 Our entree was chicken Nepali khukara and if just was mediocre. It had bones in it! Like a lot of them! Do you know if you swallow a bone it can tear up your intestine, poison your blood and cause you to die? I'm not trying to be dramatic but the bone fragments and chunks on balance with the taste made me conclude never again. Not worth it. Also the service was poor. I waited twenty minutes for them to get my check. I had to prairie dog the waitress to get her attention so much that I ended up walking up to her after about a half hour. And also they had the same song playing over and over and over and over and over... you get the point. I had to ask her to please play the next song. Idk- I was trying to eat Nepalese today and was underwhelmed with the food and service in comparison to the stars and reviews. The waitress barely spoke English... idk. There are so many restaurants on this strip. I'm gonna skip this one going forward. Oh hey! She JUST now picked up my check! Wowwww! I wrote a whole review complaining that it had been twenty minutes... anyway, they have to staff this place.

Great ambiance and really nice staff, with a nice overall dining experience. Ordered the chicken makhani, lamb vindaloo, and steamed chicken momo. Definitely enjoyed the momo a lot, this is a good spot!

We had an amazing meal. The restaurant was full but didn't feel crowded. Service was great and food was beyond delicious! We will return

We had the Chilli fried veg moms which tasted good. Service is good and the ambiance is ok. Should try other items in the menu another time.

This place was a GEM! I ordered the Vegetable Platter which was a combo appetizer, but asked for the Cheese Pakora to be replaced with another vegan option. Everything on the platter was SO tasty! Not the healthiest meal to eat (ALL of it was fried), but it sure was good. And so much, that I couldn't finish it! My friend ordered an appetizer that was like flat crisp tortillas, but thinner and lighter with a salsa type mixture that was GREAT (Masala Papad???)! The flavors of all the food was OUTSTANDING! Service was great and she even gave us a Mango pudding to share! OH, and they gave a discount coupon in Yelp!!! All around, a great place to have a lovely meal...

Great food! We came in for dinner, had been wanting to go for a while since every time we go to little India neighborhood - it's been pretty packed. Food was delicious we got a few things. They have a mix of Nepalese food & Indian food. We asked the waiter which ones to get that we're different and he gave us a few options. Would def recommend & plan to come back!

My family and I came in after some shopping on Devon and we enjoyed our visit. The appetizers were by far the star of the show. We ordered the fried chili veggie momos, onion pakora, Masala papdi and veggie samosas. All of it was delicious, but the momos were my favorite! For dinner, we ordered malai kofta and channa masala. The channa masala was a different style than we're typically used to, so it wasn't our favorite, but definitely good to try. The service was great and our waiter was very attentive. Would definitely recommend trying Nepal House!

This is probably one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. I usually go to our spot out west but I didn't have the time today. Today I'm only ordering the Garlic naan which is baked roasted garlic bread that is delicious. The last time we dined here the service was impeccable and our food was wonderfully prepared there was not much room but our dining experience was nice and quiet. It wasn't noisy.

Will definitely be on my go to list. Nice atmosphere and the food was delish. My friend had the lamb samosas and we split the butter chicken, palak chana, and garlic naan. Super fresh. I can't wait to do back.

Everything is delicious! I'm not easy and this place has the best Indian food. Clean and delicious. My favorite is the vegetable samosas and the mutter paneer with garlic naan. The host are always very sweet.

A wonderful place that has this particular purity of having some of the best selection of delicious plates. They ask you how spicy you'd like your food and the bar is set up to make the best cocktail that rivals the ones you make at home.

Excellent food and service. Very clean bathrooms and tables. Staff friendly. Had Chana Masala, Bhindi Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, Goat Chili Masala, naans and roti. Loved every one of them. Not very large portions but enough to fill a person up. Mango lassi was slightly more on the yoghurt side than the mango taste but still good. Prices were reasonable. Definitely will go back.

Finding Indian food isn't too hard around Chicago. It's a little harder finding Nepalese food. Nepal House is one of the few to go to. Has some pretty authentic tasting food in a welcoming environment. The prices are kind of high, which is the only bad thing. Actually there's two locations of this locally owned business. It has one of these on Devon Avenue amidst all these authentic Indian places. This might be the better location as far as getting an authentic experience, for a few reasons. For one, it's in West Rogers Park, a neighborhood with a large Indian and Nepalese population that it's known for. More of these people come here, so they have to keep it authentic to keep them happy. It's also smaller, giving it a more intimate feel. The last time here we got some of the vegetarian friendly menu. A bad thing is that entrees don't include naan, so you have to pay extra. It's $4 for a few pieces. That's on top of the entree prices. It gets expensive. That's the biggest complaint about this. I had the Palungoko Saag, which is a spinach entree. It's about $17 for a plate. This is fresh spinach sautéed with cumin, dry red chilis, fenugreek, garlic, ginger, and mustard seeds. It was good but too costly. She had the Bhindi Masala, which was sautéed okra and spices. Both of these entrees were spicy enough. The vegetables were cooked until soft without being mushy. Good place for some Nepalese food. It's a lot like Indian food if you didn't know. This is also quite similar to Indian food in high prices.

This was a delivery order. Butter chicken was pretty good, vegetable momos were okay (probably should have gotten the chicken), chicken pakora was ok. What I loved was the lamb biryani, which was tender and delicious, especially with the lemon and yogurt sauce. I will be ordering again.

Dined in and ordered takeout - both times blew my mind!!! Amazing food, my favorite being the chicken vindaloo which is perfectly spiced. Can't emphasize enough how amazing their samosa chaat is. When dining in, the service is pretty good. Attentive but also let us have time to talk while waiting for our food. Answered all our questions about the menu with great descriptions! I've only been inside with my SO but it's fun to see all the other diners bring their whole families and order a feast. The place is very family friendly but they also have a bar which is fun. My only complaint is I wish the portions were bigger but that's just me wanting more! Unfortunately a little too pricey to be in my regular rotation but definitely the place I'd take friends and family for a quality dinner.

We were so hungry on a cold evening after shopping at Devon stores on a Friday evening. Wanted to try Nepal House for the first time. Very good ambiance with a nice photographs of mountains from Nepal. We ordered Kadhai Paneer, Palak Paneer, Chilli Naans and salt lassi. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and all of them were big portions as well. Salt lassi was slightly thick and I was expecting more of liquidy feel lassi with spices in it. The naans were slightly less baked and felt starchy and doughy inside. Kadhai Paneer: 5/5 Palak Paneer: 5/5 Chilli Naan: 4/5 Salt Lassi: 3.5/5 Overall we enjoyed the food here and will definitely visit again. Tip: They do have some specials with yelp check in.

Had not been to Devon in a while, and found this place on Yelp. It held up the reviews and beyond. Palak Peneer and Nepalese lamb were both really tasty. Great flavors and right amount of spice. Garlic Naan super fresh. Chai tea was very well done, flavorful but not overly sweet. Service was attentive but not in your face. Good value too. WE'll be back.

Had dinner there on a Friday evening. Service was very slow. Food was good, but a bit greasy. Momo were delish. I had the chicken chow mein which was tasty but just warm (should have been hot, temp-wise). The drinking water was room temperature. The spices made me thirsty, but trying to flag someone down to get a water refill was a real challenge. We asked one employee (not our server) as she headed into the kitchen. She acknowledged us but never reappeared with water. Once we did finally get a refill, it was still barely room temperature so I asked for ice, which I got. The portions were large enough to take leftovers home, but overall, for the neighborhood and the poor service, I thought the food was very pricey.

Great quiet ambience, menu has a variety of options from vegetarian, goat, lamb and chicken curries, chow mien, and dumplings. We tried the veggie samosa which is perfectly crispy, best samosa I've tried. I will definitely try the lamb next time. We also got the fried chicken Momo which you can skip, it was over fried, too dry and hard. Try the steamed momos instead. For our entrees we ordered the goat chili, Nepali goat stew and the lamb tikka masala. Okay so before you order the chili goat you need to mention your level of spice! It is very spicy but the flavors were delicious. I would definitely get that mild next time. The Nepali goat was not spicy at all it was good. And I just want to add that the goat has many bones, which is typical but just so you know. If you like boneless definitely get the tikka masala which was very good! We also got mango lassi which was fresh and delicious and helped cool down from the all the spices. Overall this is a great restaurant, friendly service, nice ambiance, just be mindful of the spice level.

Amazing place to get delivery or take out from! Thoroughly enjoyed the lamb tikka masala and chicken madras. I also had some veggie samosas and garlic naan bread. This is a great place to eat yourself into a coma. The flavors are intense and bold, with lots of layers. I'm going to try and avoid ever ordering the same thing so I don't miss out on anything. I highly recommend you go here. You won't be disappointed.

Great experience. I picked up food to take home. This was my first experience with Nepal House. The food was delicious --palek paneer and butter chicken. I love the small, intimate look of the restaurant with its tablecloths and cloth napkins and comfortable booths. I will definitely visit for dine-in.

Great service very polite, the server told us they were taking a while to prepare our food, and because of the wait he gifted us some samosas, the food is very flavorful portions are great and the price is even better. I will be becoming a regular here

Don't know where to begin...Everything I ordered was amazing...The dumplings were to die for, the chicken and lamb seasoned to perfection, the rice was even amazing and the dipping sauces you could just eat with a spoon. I've found my new fav restaurant in the Indian town area and in all of Chicago as well.

Got garlic naan and buttered chicken, it was so delicious I couldn't stop eating. I definitely will go back to try more dishes.

I'm really disappointed I have to write such a low review. We love Indian food and frequently go to some of our regular spots like tandoor char house and cumin. We got a delivery last week from this restaurant as we were craving some Indian / vegetarian options and wanted to try something new. I have no idea what the portions are inside the restaurant as the reviews look good but carryout was such a disappointment. The portions sizes where so small and the price way too high. The flavors were just so so.. We won't get carryout from here again but we might try in person if on Devon.

I'm one of those people who starts a review and then takes a million years to complete it. This one is no exception, and it was started before the pandemic got underway in the US. I can't speak to any precautions the restaurant is taking during the pandemic, though I assume they're following the guidelines set forth by the state and municipal governments. Nepalese / Indian cuisine in the heart of Devon Avenue. I haven't had Indian in forever and despite having lived in Chicago over a decade, have never eaten on Devon. I figured it was time. We ordered the Chicken Chilly Masala and Vegetable Kofta. I didn't have any of the masala, but I was told it was very good (and it clearly was, given how quickly it disappeared!). The kofta was good. It's different from malai kofta I've had elsewhere; it may have had more vegetables in it and it was definitely a bit sweeter. I'd probably try a different dish next time I come back. Interestingly, the garlic naan was my favorite of what we ordered. I think I usually figure I like naan ok, but this was so good--soft, buttery, flavorful. I think it's the difference between ordering takeaway and having it in the restaurant. The papadum, which I usually don't like either, was delicious, especially with the different chutneys they served it with. As evidenced by my dozen or so years here, I don't get to Devon very often but I'd certainly come back.

Some of the best Indian food I've had in the past 10 years! Naan was very good, mo mos were delicious and came with a delicious condiment. Lamb was of high quality and the lamb madras curry had a very good flavor. I can't wait to go back!

The food was amazing. We had a nepalese goat dish which was perfectly spiced. The eggplant was also amazing. Our servers were super friendly.
