The Fountain of Neptune (Fontana del Nettuno) at Piazza Navona is a real treasure. Tucked at the northern end of the square, it often feels a little quieter than the central fountain, which makes it a perfect spot to pause and take in the details. The sculpture of Neptune fighting a sea monster, surrounded by playful sea nymphs and creatures, is so dynamic and full of movement—it almost looks like the scene could come to life at any moment. I loved how this fountain balances the grandeur of Piazza Navona. It adds to the beauty of the square while offering something unique and dramatic. With the lively atmosphere of the piazza around you, the fountain feels like the perfect mix of art, history, and storytelling in stone. Definitely worth stopping by while exploring the square.

In my opinion the finest fountain in Rome, it is relatively quite but so beautiful to see in person. I would highly recommend staying for a while here and seeing the fountain from all angles.

The Fountain of Neptune in Rome is a stunning 16th-century marble masterpiece located in Piazza Navona. It depicts Neptune battling an octopus, surrounded by mythological cherubs and sea creatures, showcasing intricate artistry and masterful sculpting. To truly appreciate the fine craftmanship, i recommend seeing it both during the day and at night, when it is beautifully lit up. The fountain is one of three magnificent fountains in Piazza Navona, making it a must-see for sculpture enthusiasts.

A textbook Roman fountain: heroic Neptun, fish spitting water, sea creatures in full drama mode. Feels like Aquaman could show up any second. 😄 Originally built in the 16th century, the statues of Neptune and the sea monsters were added in the 1800s. Located at the northern end of Piazza Navona, so when you turn around, you get the full baroque spectacle — water, statues, people… and a gelato cart in the distance.

The sculptures, the fountains, balances the grandeur of Piazza Navona and adds to the beauty of this place and to the city. In my opinion Rome is a walking museum. A beautiful, aquatic-themed fountain located in the picturesque Piazza Navona. Not far behind the fontanna di Trevi. The beautiful marbles highlight the azure water. Only possible in Italy!

The Fountain of Neptune is located at the northern end of Piazza Navona in central Rome. Of the three fountains in the square, it sits at the top. The photo I captured highlights a striking contrast, showcasing the beauty of ancient Roman art set against the backdrop of 21st-century advertising.
