Nals Nest

My friends and I wanted some really good Guyanese cuisine so we visited Nals Nest. The decor and environment of the restaurant was very inviting however when the door opens you hear the obnoxiously loud music and commotion from the nearby lounge. Our server was a sweetheart! We had Guyanese styled mauby that was really good but I also ordered a non-alcoholic passionfruit mojito that was fairly okay - there was something off about it but I couldn't pin point it. THE DUCK CURRY WITH DHAL AND RICE AND DHAL PURI WAS AMAZING - Highlight of my night was how seasoned and delicious it was. The chicken fried rice was satisfactory also. One thing I do want to point out is that my friend didn't like the goat curry as it was too salty and rubbery and management removed it from our bill which is an A in my book. Will definitely revisit here to try other Guyanese cuisine!

First time trying Nals Nest and I have to say I’m impressed. The price is decent and the food is good. I will definitely be buying more food from this restaurant. Check them out guys.

I was here with my family last weekend for dinner and Im so glad we gave it a try, literally all the food we tried was on point, packed with Caribbean flavors and tasted amazing, we reordered some more to take home, our server was Ashley, love her she’s super kind and really helpful. Good vibes with good music. Definitely going again, would totally recommend!

I didn’t realize that the restaurant is under new management. When I walked into the restaurant, it was freezing inside and we asked for them to turn up the heat which they did but took a long while for it to come up. I also asked for a dollar in quarters to pay my meter but the waitress/counter person told me that they do not carry quarters. 🥸 The waitstaff did not seem knowledgeable on food or drinks. We asked what kind of soft drinks they had besides the American drinks and our response was banana drink or lemonade but when you turn around and look at the bar, there was a bucket of all the different flavors that they offer which I found myself. I ordered a duck curry and my mom ordered a chicken fried rice. The previous restaurant, The Nest, was always known for their duck curry, and it was always the best. This duck that I had today was hard and the portions were completely off. The previous restaurant offered more for the cost paid. Today, there was about five pieces of duck with a bone and a few pieces of potatoes in a little tiny dish with a plate of rice and a side of dhall. And it wasn’t tasty, it was chewy and tough. The fried rice was turned out into a plate in the shape of a small bowl with a few pieces of fried chicken. When I mentioned to our waiter that the duck was hard, he said to let Them know how I want my duck cooked next time that I would have to request for it to be cooked well done 🧐 umm I didn’t realize you have to request how you want your duck curry cooked 😂 I also felt like they were trying to rush us out. I had a half a bottle of Shandy and our waiter kept asking if I was done and I said no. Then he asked me if I was ready to pay when I responded if he offers Apple Pay he said I would have to come up to the counter to pay. I had to wind up waiting for about 5 Minutes to pay the bill all the while, I could’ve just been sitting down enjoying my shandy instead of rushing my drink to pay the bill. Sadly, I will not be coming back to the “new Nest”. We both left there disappointed, dissatisfied and hungry.

Nals Nest Restaurant was an absolute pleasure to visit. The cleanliness of the restaurant immediately stood out—everything was well kept and inviting. The service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely welcoming. The food was another highlight: flavorful, well-prepared, and refreshingly not overly salty for once, which made the dishes even more enjoyable and balanced. A special mention goes to Cristina, who truly elevated the experience. Being served by her was a joy—she has an upstanding attitude, a warm personality, and a level of professionalism that makes you feel genuinely valued as a guest. She is a real asset to the restaurant. Overall, a great dining experience with great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning.

The remodel of the restaurant is beautiful!! The owner greeted the party and suggested great options off the menu; we were not disappointed. The lounge/bar that is located on the other half of the venue has a great DJ with great soca music! My only suggestion is to revamp the cocktails; the price point didn’t match the taste. Overall, I would come here again to dine!

This is my second time in my life that I’m doing a review. I usually just say what’s the issue and pray there would be some kind of resolution. Now, the original Nest was never my place of choice to eat, due to the quality (poor) of food preparation. I was introduced to the Duck curry which was garbage but then I tried the house special fried red rice and low mein which I had walked out and leave sitting on the table. Today, under new management. I must say I’m not too impressed with what should be very impressive to customers. My daughter introduced me this time around with new management, I thought things would have been different. She flew in from south and I’m not going to lie. The food did taste Great. So I return to the Bal Nest today, only to asked who is the Cook? The food is salt, oily and has NO TASTE. I must say I’m not surprised but I’m little disappointed, knowing it should be under NEW MANAGEMENT. How could they let the cook go so fast? Caused at the beginning the food was great, despite the fact customers service is very poor. Sadly I wouldn’t be ordering here again and I will advise other to try saving your money. Head out to Jade for great tasting food! 😭😭
