One of two supermarkets in the neighbourhood (the other being TnT) with better and pricier produce. Wish they'd keep the Abbott St door open so you wouldn't have to touch the dirty doors walking into the complex

I appreciate the positive contribution Nesters Market has made to the Gastown and Woodwards neighbourhood. Over the past few months, I’ve noticed a real improvement in the overall shopping experience at this location. I shop at the store every day and often see staff being friendly, professional as well as kind and patient with customers who may have more complex needs. Their approach creates a welcoming and inclusive environment that helps build a stronger sense of community in the area.

Was not even shopping at your Store. The security you hire had the audacity to tip VPD I was shoplifting in London Drugs. VPD did not detain me because I had a receipt. London drugs loss prevention investigation determined it was Nesters Security seeing me put items i purchased into my backpack from basically 60 feet through a window. Then told VPD I am shoplifting.

Busy store that moves efficiently with tons of great healthy food choices if you’re in a hurry. Everything looked clean, well presented and fresh. Staff was friendly and efficient and prices were good considering it’s a busy downtown area. Definitely worth a quick pit stop if you’re in the neighbourhood and looking for something fast on the fly.

Good place to buy what you need! Very helpful, prices are decent and they do accept cash! Highly recommended. Oh, interesting enough there’re no alcoholic beverages sold at this place 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lately... the quality has slid downhill. I have bought grocery that 3nded up moldy inside or spoiled. The produce is often wilted or rotting. What's more... the prices are out of control. I buy potatoes from Sunrise Market for 50 cents a pound or so and onions a little more. What is this?!?! $2.79 a pound?! Robbery. I only go here after hours when I miss something now. Boycott outrageous OVER-inflation.

I have had numerous terible experiences at this store. Twice the packaging on their products have failed resuling in irreversible damage to my clothing. The staff are rude and incompetent. I complained and I received the obligatory response but never an offer of compensation for the damage caused by their negligence.

Hipster supermarket by Gastown, inside the Woodward's building. Parking is rather nonexistent here. There is a parkade underneath the building, but I am not sure if there are any spots for shoppers. The supermarket is meant more for yuppies. Selection is limited, and there is very little bulk stuff. The overall area is sketchy, and the business has adjusted accordingly. There are security guards, and the meat section even has its own security camera, which I found rather amusing. See photo. Otherwise, staff are friendly. There are some deals too, if one looks at the tags attached to the shelves.

Nice place to grab a few things or a number of items. Staff are friendly, and the store is quite clean. Selection is a little limited on only CERTAIN items, but that seems to be a problem in every country.

Food? Service? Where was the service when I asked to use the bathroom due to a medical condition ? I asked two staff members and inform them of my medical condition and that I was about to pee myself in the store and they refused to let me use their washroom . I didn't make it up before I peed my pants right there in the store . I left my groceries and walked there I will never come back .

Nesters is a downtown market that is generally over priced, but you shop there mostly due to convenience! This is the case here. However this location is bigger and nicer then the Yaletown store. It has a nice bakery & deli section with some very fresh salads with deluxe ingredients for under 7$ Staff is friendly and helpful. They have a large selection of most things you would need. They have a check out by the deli as well as the main one by the front doors. Sign up for nesters points and save up to accumulate them to put towards a future purchase ( no minimum )

Nesters posts notices of current availability and possible shortages. Very often there are suprise sales with gigantic savings. Excellent

This supermarket is located in the famous Woodwards's building in the heart of Gastown. It was early morning when we passed by and got a hint of the fresh bread baking in the deli area. We stepped inside to buy some sandwiches + soup. (1) Turkey panini sandwich (with spinach, cheese, pesto mayo) - if you ask, they'll warm it up for you; tastes great! $6.95 (2) chicken soup - you scoop it yourself, sizes vary by cup or bowl There are a couple seats (and sofas) in the deli area for you to sit down and enjoy your meal / snack. Bonus: FREE WI-FI! :) Friendly staff.

The downtown store used to be a great neighbourhood market with a good mix of organic, natural and conventional food options and helpful cheery staff but sadly this is no longer the case. Since the warehouse 'change over' or convergence, Western Family labels are everywhere, favourite organic foods like pasta and herbs for example have disappeared. The British food section has gone as has the beloved coffee bean area where we could buy and grind our coffee. Staff seem less inclined to prioritize good customer service. I will only shop here in a pinch and will leave the neighbourhood to shop elsewhere. Quite sad.

I really don't mind overly paying for produce since I live in downtown Vancouver. However I do expect great customer service with how much they charged for products at their store. Time and time again I've had to deal with the worst cashiers at Nester. Her name is Lamaca, black curly haired and heavy set lady, who is extremely rude. People like her shouldn't work in customer service is she cannot treat customer with kind attitude. What an unpleasant human being she is!!

The staff at this location are kind, polite, and more than patient with what can be a challenging clientele. The store is fastidiously kept clean, even during Covid they're doing great work keeping it stocked, and they go out of their way to be helpful. Bring and wear your mask, be prepared to make way for other shoppers, and chill out. It's a tightly packed store. Prices are good for a downtown location. You can save money by shopping a little outside the core, but factor your time and Nesters is a good value. The integrated deli makes great food, and I never regret it when I pick up lunch or dinner there.

Good selection. Prices are very high for what you are getting. For being a market in an inner city it was decent!

I love Nesters! I'm always at the deli hovering over the wide variety of different hot and cold foods they have and everything seems extremely well priced. I used to love drinking their soups when they were $1.99 for a small but now that they're $2.99 I don't buy it too often anymore... Their $0.29 mini eclairs are really good and I usually buy half a dozen to snack on throughout the day. I would say that their chicken breast + mojo potatoes would be the best deal here since you get pretty much a quarter of a whole BBQ chicken and a bunch of wedge fries. Their sandwiches are also very affordable and their cake slices are decent as well.

To start this off. I have three words to say that got me soooo excited about coming to this location. I used to go to Nesters in Whistler whenever I was there and of course the one downtown whenever I could go. This place has history and nostalgia written all over it's location. So what is it that makes this place so special? Three words: Woodwards Peanut butter. or put them together and what have you got? Yummmy nostalgic goodness. Is it realy as good as you remember? I dont know yet. they sold out at 10 am and we arrived at 8pm. We'll be back on Thursday to hopefully get some of this history in a jar. It certainly brought back memories and just for that, I plan to come back and recommend this location because of simply what it is. Location, Location, Location. cya soon! Oh yeah. I have to say this. $1.49 day Tuesdays!

This is a pretty good place to shop for fresh grocery. Friendly service. Been here couple times. The place has lot of items. Meaning the isle are a bit narrow. But it is located in a convenient location. Prices isn't too bad

I used to think Nesters was a just an overpriced specialty grocery store. Now that I stop by here almost every day, I realize it's not! I actually really like Nesters. Yes, some things are a bit pricier than other stores, but overall I find it pretty comparable. There's always a good selection of fresh produce, they have a huge deli, and they've got pretty decent dairy section. I also love that they carry Mario's Gelato, the staff are always really nice, and where else can you find a whole cake covered in sprinkles?

There aren't too many places to grab your staple groceries in gastown so nesters offers the best range and the prices are usually reasonable especially if items are on special. Nesters would be a good market if their staff were consistent. Example 1): They recently changed their store policy to no dogs allowed. I did not know this and went there on my way home from work with my dog in an enclosed stroller. I was very rudely ejected from the store. Very rudely. Yet yesterday I saw a man walk in with his leashed dog (clearly not a service dog), buy a coffee and leave. So why does my stoller puppy make me public enemy number one but this guy gets a pass? Example 2): Breakfast sandwiches. I have had to stop picking up breakfast there because I can never be sure that the sandwiches will be out on time. Do you have any idea how anoying it is to be told to come back later for breakfast? Like how much later? 9:30? 10:00? Lunchtime? Example 3) Coffee: I have lost count of the times I have gone there to pick up a coffee to take back to work and my coffee of choice is empty. Guess us decaf drinkers don't count for much do we? And if the coffee is not empty either the cream sugars or sleeves will be missing. Whoever deals with replenishing the coffee bar is frequently asleep at the switch. Example 4): Pastries: I will walk by one day and see that they are selling chocolate cream filled doughnuts and think I will get one the next day. Yet the next day they are not there. Have not been put out yet. At 9:00 in the morning. Example 5): selling spoiled food. I wont buy any prepared food there again. I have been sold stale coleslaw, smelly bad sliced meats and quiche that gave me food poisoning. Many people I work with have had similar experiences. In short, go to Nesters if you run out of bread, butter or pickles because I have not seen them screw those up yet. Go somewhere else for take out food.

I was just at Nesters Market at the old Woodwards location. Friday January 1/2021 at 3:00pm. First lousy service, staff don't acknowledge you, or help you find anything. Female cashier was too busy chatting with her coworker to even say "hi" They dont place items in your bag, even thou my bag was brand new, yet they take cash from people, and they are wearing gloves! NOT impressed! Ill take my business to Independent Grocer on Davie street. At least they are nicer.

All in all you have to give this Nester's a thumbs up but mostly it's for the location. In the coolest architectural integration that I've seen in Vancouver, known as 'the old Woodwards building'. On the shelves, a limited and overpriced supply of our daily needs, and nothing outstanding that you can't get elsewhere, (albeit not immediately,) but all well organized top end groceries and good customer service. I wasn't impressed with the offerings of specialty foods, but overall, good in a pinch.

The workers are the sweetest and most helpful people that you can get in a store. The products are fresh and you can find a big variety of dairy free/lactose free products. The sandwiches are delicious. I went there today at 11 :30 am and the cranberry turkey sandwiches were not in the cold display. I sked the seller when they will be ready, she said 12, I thanked her and was about to leave. She called me back and made a sandwich on the spot, just for me. THIS is excellent service! Thank you, ladies!

Staff are very accommodating and knowledgeable. Butchers are also very helpful. If you don't see what you want just ask Sean. He can get it in for you.

Limited selection. Way overpriced. Super friendly staff. That about sums the Nesters experience. Also, ironic that most of the deli department employees are vegetarian. Maybe that's their whole plan? Shrewdly placing insider-vegans in the meat departments of grocery chains across the land to slowly shape otherwise carnivorous patron's psyches into feeling guilty about their cured consumption? ... still doesn't explain the ridiculous vegetable prices though.

I had been doing some shopping in the area and still needed to pick up a few grocery items for dinner. Fortuitously I had parked right in front of the Woodwards building so Nesters was convenient. I was able to pick up what I needed but was not overly impressed. With milk that had expiry dates only a few days away, produce that was less than top quality and an overall limited selection of products, this place is more like a convenience store on steroids rather than a full- fledged grocery store. With the exception of one friendly fellow on the deli section, the staff was also rather unfriendly. I can't think of much reason to ever return.

Nesters Market sucks you in with cheap deals on packaged groceries, and leaves you crying with huge bills on basics like dairy, vegetables, and breads. The location may be convienant for condo owners, but most of the neighborhood does not live in condos. Honestly, I've found comparable prices at the London Drugs across the plaza, and if the best compliment this store can receive is "it doesnt smell like fish" there must be something wrong. And there is. Besides paying a premium for a Jim Pattison brand "local" food stop, you dont get any added service. They stock the same stuff as safeway, superstore, and IGA. Where they differ, however, is the customer service. They generally have ridiculously long line ups with no option for an express lane, despite the amount of tills they have. This is because they hardly have any cashiers on call at any point during the day. The layout is awkward as well, with the deli being placed next to an entrance but no cashier in sight. Overall, this place is far worse than its big retail competition in every way. They stock "organic" and "healthy" food sure, but its just an attempt to milk more business from condo owner pockets. it may be worth your time to stop by the Army and Navy or T&T, even if one of your neighbors sees you doing it.

Prices aren't that bad, people stop complaining. This is a good grocery, with GREAT staff. The staff is Helpful, kind, and will talk to you. Always happy to see them & vise versa haha. They often ask if I need help finding something or just to ask what's up. If I need help I can easily flag an employee down and they'll show or tell me exactly where the item is. Love shopping here. Prices are what they are.. Get a nesters card it'll save you money. They aren't more expensive than an IGA or Choices market etc. it's a smaller store with local fresh groceries so of course those will be more. Look for the deals. They carry mostly healthy and local stuff which is great. They have a lot of generally; good food. Check it out. The little market with deli stuff is great too. You can find lots of bread, and the deli is hit and miss I find. Some sandwiches have been okay while others have been fantastic. Their date bars are amazing. Also, the staff at the meat deli can be sometimes difficult to get their attention that you want some deli cuts... Five stars to offset the idiots giving this place low ratings. Should be rated 4+ stars. Let's change this. NESTERS RULES !! Be brainwashed by this "small" "independent" corporation *cough (owned by Jimmy Pat) One of us.. One of us..

They have all the other stuff that I am familiar with at the other location, however, this one has slightly smaller departments than others. I came here 'cause they advertised $1.99 latte which was perfect on a rainy day and to chill. 20 minutes later, my latte was ready to come out, however, their bathroom was out of service. Apparently someone took the key and they wouldn't allow anyone to use the bathroom. Customer service told me to use the bathroom in Tinsel Town. You can't serve the drinks and food and not provide a place for patrons to go to the bathroom. In accessibility to these health necessities is actually against the law. Finally they allowed me to use the staff bathroom, however, only after I demanded a refund for my latte for not legally providing a public area to wash hands and go to the washroom during food and drink consumption.

I'm a regular, thanks in large part to it being one of the only 'full' grocery stores in the area. It's a downtown grocery store with downtown prices...but that's what a person should expect downtown! They have pretty good sales so shopping here can be made more affordable by watching the flyers. It's relatively small so the selection is limited for some types of goods, but I've rarely had to go elsewhere for whatever I need. They've got a good little deli counter and seating area with free WiFi. At time of writing this review, a person could get a small coffee and muffin for $1.99.

I'll only comment about the deli, in which I wandered to search for lunch options. This deli offers a good selection of decently-priced foods, including good meats, breads, cheeses, trempettes, standard BBQ chicken, and plenty of sweet treats to destroy your wasteline/increase your assets (from whichever point of view you see it). Staff are friendly, the store is easy to navigate. For my money, it beats the nearest deli at T&T Markets hands-down.

Nesters Market is the only grocery store in the Gastown neighbourhood and it seemingly takes full advantage of that fact - by attempting to sell Safeway stock at Whole Foods prices. The deli is often running out of items and sells everything from cold cuts to ready made items at a dollar or two more than comparable replacements available elsewhere. The produce looks like it is stocked from the last picks of any given item. Fruits are very often bruised or on the brink of turning, and vegetable selection can be random and unreliable. Dry goods and canned foods are more often than not cheaper at the London Drugs across the courtyard, either for the exact same item, or something similar. The same goes for snack foods and sweets. Dairy products are at least comparably priced, but on multiple occasions I selected something only to find that it had expired. I attempted to put up with Nesters for a matter of months, but eventually the convenience was outweighed by the overall lack of quality for price. About the only thing it had going for it is the Woodwards peanut butter, which is actually a good deal when on sale. Not good enough, however, to warrant an extra trip. Unless absolutely necessary, I can not recommend Nesters. It is worth making the trek to another grocery store. The differences in price and quality are worth it.

Been surprised to put a grocery store here---things aren't exactly value-priced, guess for the condo owners of the Woodward building. They do carry a lot of organic, healthy products; even have a healthy food shopping tour every now and then. Fresh meat too. Aisles pretty tight as expeced as it's one of their smaller ones but pretty well has all the basics. Nice that their deli has a good size eating area by the windows too. Washrooms you do need a key. Nice communal entrance/foyer, to London Drugs too. It's actually not as shady at first thought, with a few security guards plus TD Bank's too but still to be be wary of when walking at night. Good that the street meter parking exempt to rush hour restrictions.

This review isn't so much about Nesters as a grocer, but about Nesters Cupcakes! I love CUPCAKES!! and if you do as much as myself, you must go to the dessert section and buy some NOW! At .99 cents per cupcake, it is simply delicious. The chocolate cupcake with sprinkles is my favorite. The icing isn't butter cream or heavy, it's chocolate, whipped goodness. The cake is fluffy, moist and not too sweet. Love! Buy me a cupcake and I'll be your friend :)

It's okay here. I live near this grocery store so its all good to me, location is everything when you have loads of groceries... BUT, with loads of groceries comes an empty pocket book... I like this place because its open fairly late, 9pm is okay right?? I don't like the deli.. they don't slice cheese a-la-carte. Their mixed salads/ that charge by the 100gr are terrible.... their roasted chickens are either gone, or are SO old you would rather eat dirt. (I just downgraded them from 3star to 2star). I do like the woodwards peanut butter though. Who doesn't?? Their seafood window is really good, lots of variety, reasonable pricing. (they leave their olive oil in the sun all day... thats gross and kills flavour.. don't buy your olive oil from these guys... Most of the cashiers are really nice! but the lineups can be stressful.

I've been working in Gastown for two years now, and it's a welcome addition to the 'hood, not only because the entire Woodwards developemnt is pretty fantastic, but having a local grocery store where I can get apples is a pretty lovely thing. I agree with Daniel L. definately needs an expanded organic section, but it does very very well in a pinch, and I can see it bringing value to the residents as well. And the peanut butter is pretty darn good!

Finally I can get my groceries somewhere that doesn't smell like fish!....haha I still do love T &T but sometimes you want anchovies that are not dried and sold in a 1/2 lb bag! Nesters has a pretty good selection of the essential items even though it is smaller than a typical grocery store. Produce is a bit limited but I was able to find pretty much everything I was looking for. The alpine bread I picked up was absolutely fabulous too. As far as the famous Woodwards peanut butter I am not sure if I like the oiliness although I am sure it is more authentic than what I usually buy. Nesters Gastown is not the best grocery store but I LOVE how convenient it is. I think the entire neighborhood would agree.

Using peanut butter, a jingle and the memories of skier's with tried knees falls really short. Woodward's food floor was a destination offering a tremendous selection of product that could and couldn't be had else where. Nester's is convenient for a few. A candle without a wick comes to mind. Pretty sure old Man Woodward has the odd toss in his grave.

in need of Emergency last minute prepared food dish on Easter Sunday for a potluck. Nesters came to the rescue when I was wandering randomly through Gastown. I ended up with the entire platter of honey garlic chicken and it was on $20! How can I say anything bad about that? I don't do my regular grocery shopping here, because it's not my hood, but for prepared foods - this place is awesome. Great variety and very reasonable pricing.

I love Nesters Market. It's such a cute grocery store. Lots to choose from. Although it is one of the pricier stores to go grocery shopping. There are several great specialty items you can pick up here. This one is especially cool for its half court basketball area right outside its doors!

I love the new Nester's Market that moved into the new Woodward's building...it's in my neighborhood and I love having a food store and a London Drugs store so close by...I drop by that area, often, now...it's a pleasure to have...

One star only because, of one very friendly cashier. She is the best and very funny! Oh, and they have gluten free chocolate donuts, and fresh kale. And that's about all folks. It is close to home, a block away. Ugh, why am I here. Choice, what choice do I have not much. Over priced. I usually spend $40 when I go and leave with what? Not much, me donuts, kale, pure lemon juice, spinach, advocatoes , green onions, lactose free sandwich bars, sugar free Jones drink. Wow, one bag. Where is Whole foods? Quality, and worth it!

Unfortunately I am going to have to review nesters market again with a lower rating because the people that work at the deli have the WORST customer service skills ever. I am here every day and every single day I go through THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. It's really interesting because there's so many people behind the deli counter and yet no one acknowledges you. I literally stand there for 15 minutes until someone finally decides to ask me if I need help. It's just sad. Other than that the guys at the produce section and around the store are a huge help!

I mean...it's a Nesters...there are only 3 in Vancouver I think? It has all of your usual fix-ins, not many specialty things or items on sale. It gives you basic grocery store items but at much higher prices--I suppose Nesters can do this for the sheer reason that it's the only grocer in the area. The store itself is easy to navigate. I asked if they had the bottles that they were selling on the other wing of the store, but refrigerated so I could drink it at that second...the employee gave me a blank stare, thought about it for a while, then gave me a polite, "I don't think so." Is me asking this making me sound pretentious in any way? Who wants to drink a lukewarm beverage haha. It's out of my way so I don't think I will be back, even then I will get some food to eat down the street.

Sure it's a Jim Pattison store made local shop, and T&T Supermarket nearby has some great products and deals, but Nesters is a great place to shop. The people here are very friendly and knowledgeable, the selection is impressive for a small store, many products are ethical/organic and not overpriced, the music is great, and... they have lots of contests for free food and prizes. Yes, I've won some great goodies here. And they know me by name. Do you know another store that reaches out to its customers like that?

My issue with Nesters is quality. I think Nesters is a B grade store, or at least that's what comes across in the stuff that comes home in the grocery bag when I have to shop there. Living two blocks away there are times when I just can't avoid it. Positives: Bread is great, Terra breads, fresh every day. Again, two blocks from my apartment. The produce manager is great, making a huge effort to bring organic produce in, improve the selection and truly passionate about the goods. Now for the bad news, I've brought home everything from seriously moldy cheese, bags half full of rotten potatos, pickled asparagus that turns to mush when you try to get one out, organic brown rice full of cobwebs, and the bag of whole wheat flour that turned my sourdough starter black. I generally pay the price and drive to Whole Foods, and/or Drive Organics on Commercial Drive. Just really want to do the walkable community thing, but can't get used to not trusting my local food retailer and having to micro-inspect everything going into my cart. Each time I've returned these items to the store and it's getting harder because 'no I don't want to save my bills so I can waste my time returning to the store with the substandard stuff', and 'no I don't want to waste my time making two trips to the store for ingredients I needed the first time'.

Such nice staff at this location. Great selection for such a small store. Location is great. They also have a suggestion box where you can recommend things they do not regularly carry.

Terrible value and poor service. Deli is overpriced and meat Dept is lame. Don't waste your time. Head 2 blocks north to TNT for meat and 4 blocks east to sunrise for veg. Stay away from anything nesters

This place is all about location location... if you have the time drive farther, but for a quick pick up they have a good selection at Jimmy Pattison prices..

Since I live in Woodward building I always do shopping here. I love Nesters Market! Prices aren't cheap as Superstore or No frills,(it's normal for downtown)but they offer you the variety of groceries and they propose your higher customer service.Also,you can get Nesters card and save some money or watch theirs flyers deal.Stuff m-m-m it's different story!! Nice,friendly,kind,and extremely helpful! Mike(the head manager) is always polite the sweetest guy I've ever met! Like him very much!

Has anyone notice that the charm of the staff seems to have worn very thin? All the smiles have been reduced to scowls. The lines are long particularly during high-traffic times. It seems that the Managers of the store don't know enough to put on more than 2 or 3 cashiers between 4-6PM. Not to mention that the lines often move slow because 1 or 2 of the cashiers take a liking to one shopper in particular and slow right down as they chat about their hard life while looking up, down, side to side, everywhere but actually looking at their hands to see where the bar code is on the products. Oh, there it is! "beep" Yesterday I ventured through the store and decided to leave via the deli check-out. You may have noticed that there is no place to put your shopping basked while visiting that check-out counter. When I placed my basket up on the counter the woman looked me right in the eye and told me that I could be of help and actually unload my basked and hand her all of the items one-by-one. Really? I wouldn't want to hold you up, lady? After all, I'm only purchasing $60.00 worth of groceries, my fault, sorry - I thought that check-out was your job. Perhaps the managers didn't notice that they didn't build a check-out counter big enough for you to do your job? I don't think that it should become the problem of the customer when the cashier decides that the job isn't to her liking. All in all, I'm very tired of the lack of friendly service and I'll drive out of my way to a Safeway store from now on. Get with it, Nester's. A neighborhood market with a not so friendly neighborhood attitude. Absolutely nothing keeping me here.

So the last time I was a bit frustrated with the christmas hours, but did get a nice message from the manager, and I have to say, I have been very pleased with the hours and service at Nesters. Great addition to the neighborhood! But please, don't roll back your hours too much now that the Olympics are over.

Nice store...i've been wanting a good food store.in my hood, since moving here two ago.
