Why Jacobsen Salt Co. Is One of the Only U.S. Producers of Sea Salt | Eater

"A nearly seven-mile-long stretch of the Oregon Coast chosen for its unusually high salinity, this bay was identified after side-by-side comparisons of seawater samples from locations ranging from Neah Bay to Gold Beach. It supports tens of millions of oysters — individual oysters can filter about 20 gallons of seawater per day — which play a key role in keeping the water exceptionally clean. The bay serves as the source for hand-harvested salt, and there is a strong emphasis on preserving its long-standing cleanliness." - Avery Dalal

How Chef Jacob Harth Catches and Grills the Monkeyface Eel | Eater

"Off the coast of Oregon, long, walkable jetties in this shallow bay make it surprisingly easy to catch monkeyface eel with a poke pole — fish are often right beneath your feet rather than far out to sea. The eel, which can breathe air as well as survive underwater and gets its name from its monkey-like face, looks a bit ungainly but is praised for a sweet, clean flavor and rich fat. Local chef Jacob Harth describes cleaning and filleting the eel along the spine, skewering and grilling it over hot charcoal on a yakitori grill until the skin crisps, then brushing it with a glaze of reduced fish stock, tamari, and fish sauce to highlight its delicious, crispy skin and savory-sweet flesh." - Terri Ciccone

We stayed in a home we found on Air BnB on Happy Camp Road. There are many vacation rentals in the area and even on that street. That street is at the mouth of the bay so you get to see the bay and the open ocean. It's a beautiful place. We came here over New Years weekend. Very chilly but cozy with the woodburning fire. We had the beach to ourselves but the bay did get crowded with crab boats. We left around 7:30am and rented a boat and some pots from Netarts Bay RV Park and Marina. We purchased our permits online. Got on the water around 7:45am-8am. So fun. Got 5 crab and ate them that night. The place we rented the boat from cooked the crab for us.

From information I gathered, there is a lot of clamming, crabbing and fishing around Netarts Bay Oregon. There are commercial companies that have huge Oyster beds which they harvest. There is a spit that comes out into the bay, and walking trails along it’s beach. Be sure to check the times of the daily tides before you go.

Although it is one of the deadliest bays, it’s got to be among my all time favorites! From the easy access at Happy Camp for my family members who have mobility issues, to the fabulous boat launch that gets me out on the bay to get my limit of Dungeness Crab, this small bay is breathtaking. Pro Tip: Please learn what the tides will be as well as the surf forecast. People die because they don’t take these things seriously. From outgoing tides with the force of a raging river to sneaker waves. Please do the work and stay alive so you can spend time on the beach again in the future.

January, brisk air; "curtains" of mist alternate with forest showers. very gentle "stroll" along LOOK OUT Bay trail to "breath-in" Ocean spray floating up into the giant trees surrounding you. . .as You become mezzmerized into the blue, green, white, aqua waves far below the narrow path where you stand silent.

My favorite bay for clamming and crabbing. We leave our crab pots out all night in the upper bay. Most of the boaters are very friendly and helpful. Small bay so most boats are small. Clamming can be done easily walking off the roads.

Beautiful, often seals and sea lions resting just off shore. But it's hard to find a spot to park, beachfront is filled with RV parks, marinas, docks etc
