Muiishi Makiritto Chef Finds a New Home at NettBar’s Forthcoming Second Outpost | Eater Houston

"This popular neighborhood ice house, founded in 2017 and known for sports-watching and outdoor family gatherings, is opening a second location at 1717 W 22nd Street next summer. Unlike the original kitchen-less site, the new two-building venue will offer expanded covered outdoor space, a family-friendly fenced area, ample parking, and a full kitchen led by chef Matt Mui (of the Muiishi Makirrito food truck). The new spot will also host events like trivia, bocce tournaments, goat yoga, and a monthly artisans market, and the founders have launched a NextSeed campaign to help fund the expansion." - Brittanie Shey

We had a sorority reunion at this spot. The food was good and the drinks were great. I ordered the egg croissant sandwich. The Frosé was good!

Google
Food was not good. The lemon pepper wings were HOT and FRESH, but lacked lemon and pepper flavor. The drinks were great. The staff was nice and informative. This place looks like it’s BRAND new, that’s how clean it is. It’s wild.

I LOVE NettBar! So glad we found a bar close to home that offers a ton of seating, ping pong tables, bocce ball, and is very dog friendly. There’s a fenced off area for dogs and a play area for kids. After a certain time in the evening it’s adults only. They offer food and drinks, happy hour on weekdays, and steak night every Thursday. One thing I really appreciate when going out to bars is to be able to carry conversations without shouting and NettBar plays great music, but allows for normal conversations to be heard. 😁 The first time we came to NettBar, the door guy Dat was very friendly and gave us a quick tour to show us around. Dat showed true hospitality, making us feel that he genuinely cared about our experience. We love supporting local spots! We will definitely be back!

Google
What a fun kid friendly place to hang out. The food was all delicious. Street tacos have a bit of heat but it's nice. The fries are addictive. Good food portions.

Google
Approximately 25% indoors and 75% outdoors but done right. They had The Goonies showing on a large screen at 6:00 p.m. Plenty of fans and outdoors cooler fans. Good food and a nice experience.

Google
We had our school mix and mingle event here. The kids had plenty of game/hang out areas and enjoyed the food/frozen refreshments and the adults enjoyed the lovely bar inside. The staff was so helpful and kept everything clean. A great time was had by all!!! Will definitely be back!

Google
Great food and drinks. Cute place with an indoor bar and separate eating area as well as a huge patio. You can bring your dog! They have a couple games and a huge screen to watch sports. Parking lot available but it is a bit small.

Yelp
A couple friends and I went to NettBar to watch a game and had a great time! We were lucky to have such great weather for when we were there because we wanted to sit outside and in Texas... that's not the best idea during summer usually. There were so many cocktail options that I sampled a few before selecting. All of the frozen drinks were good and they also had a lot of specials going on as well, including their train shot deal which is special to them! We also got hungry while there so we ordered some food and everything was delicious as well! Very happy with the experience as a whole!

Yelp
The boujee Nett Bar that we love coming to. Great outdoor patio with an indoor counter for drinks and another indoor space to order food. Their food is great by the way! Love their burgers, grilled chicken sandwich, and today... quesadillas! They also pour a great Guinness. Good spot for adults and kids!

Yelp
I've been to NettBar several times for a friend's bday party and we've always had a great time! NettBar is a popular neighborhood bar with outdoor and indoor options and plenty of them. There is a small parking lot in front of the building as well. For drinks, I have always enjoyed their house cocktails. They are a decent price and the flavors are very good too. You are able to bring in food and drinks, which I believe also makes this a popular event hosting destination. Couple that with the fact that the atmosphere feels like you are in a large, grand backyard definitely adds to the casual, comfort environment.

Yelp
This was my first time at this Nett Bar. Because it was Friday the 13th, there was a dog costume contest going on. There are games for children too. Being a Friday evening, there were several families since the children could play and stay busy. Drinks are on one section and food at another one. This is a happening place. There is ample parking but I ended up parking on the street since there were no spots. I ordered a hummus which comes with pita bread and cucumber slices. You get a number at the counter and food is brought to you. The hummus was tasty and had happy hour pricing. I would like to try the Brussel sprouts next time. There are snacks for dogs and an enclosed dog run too.

Yelp
First time at this location! How fun! When we got there, we were able to snag a parking spot easily. We also saw 2-3 cars pulling out to allow others to come as well. There is street parking if you can't park in the lot. Vibes are good! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Some of the outdoor seating is covered. We went for a birthday party and they have a happy hour food/drink menu from 3-7pm (Tues-Fri). We ordered chicken sliders and skewers from the menu, but also got brussels sprouts from their shareable menu which were good and affordable. The chicken sliders came with 3. They were actually pretty yummy and fulfilling. The skewers were small, came with 2 and definitely not worth it. The brussels sprouts actually came with rice too, which was a surpise, but a good surprise! Shots of course when the train goes (they have a TV to watch) were cheap and our group definitely had a great time. Bartenders/service was nice. Food was kinda slow, we waited awhile to get it, but had a great time nonetheless.

Yelp
I think this bar is super fun! The cocktails are fun and i love the frozen drinks, they change them out which i like because then you get to try different flavors my favorite is the orange dream seriously like a treat! The food is actually pretty good . I really enjoy the nachos! They do train shots which is when the train passes by you can take $2 shots and it goes to breast cancer which i love! The outdoor seating is great lots of room for games and activities ! They have great tvs and large screens for games and such! The only thing that's not fun is parking there is a very small lot with maybe 10 spaces and the inside of the bar is small so if there's a big game or something get there early! There is only two stalls for girls bathroom so it can form a line sometimes. The service is pretty good and they have fly things to keep them away which i like when eating outside ! I also like that it's not super loud there . check it out but uber!

Yelp
This place has all the seating options. Two indoor spots. One just for drinks and another just for food. Outdoor areas covered and not covered. Food is delicious. Location is decent. They have their own private parking and street parking. They have a lot of TVs to watch any game. Service is quick and easy. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Great place to hang with family and friends. Pet and kid friendly too.

Yelp
Enjoyed catching a baseball game from the outside patio thanks to the fans. The beer prices were decent for a bucket. Plenty of seating for groups. Sunshades were great. The tab is transferable from bar to bar.

Yelp
I came here a few weeks ago for a Texans game for the first time. We sat in the low table because we had our pup with us. The nearest TV wasn't playing the game so we moved to the high tops. The owner or manager noticed our dilemma and completely moved the low table in front of the right TV for us so that we sit comfortably with our pup. I was so impressed and grateful. Now that's what you call Southern Hospitality! We enjoyed the outdoor patio, food, drinks, and even distracted our active pup in the little dog park they have. Great service! We will return soon.

Yelp
Are for happy hour. It is a great outdoor type bar. They also have indoor seating. I came on a day that it looked like it was gonna rain however I wanted to still sit outside so I chose the cover outdoor area. Had a really nice date we played board games. It's family, friendly, pet friendly. they have happy hour food and drink specials throughout the week and the food was absolutely amazing. I have the shrimp egg rolls I believe and the net burger. The chicken wings were also great fried very crispy and tasted delicious The drink selection was great for happy hour and the prices were cheap. I will definitely be making this one of my regular happy hour spots on a beautiful day.

Yelp
Came from Austin for our great-niece's 1st birthday. The staff was super-attentive. There are some steps. But wait!! They had movable ramp and that placed it just right. The food was appetizers and it was kid friendly. My only demerit is that there are no grab bars in the bathrooms.

Yelp
We had a good experience here! We used to live right around the corner from the OG nettbar when we stayed on center st so it's nice to see this second location in the area! Parking can be a little tough. Wish they had a bugger parking lot. They've got all the same great drinks as the other location, but they have separate area now where you can order food. I'm glad to see this new addition to the neighborhood and will be frequenting more often!

Yelp
I'm a big fan of the original location just off of Washington St, but this location might be even better. Unlike the original, this location still has neighborhood bar feel with a wide variety of cocktail and beer selections but with a kitchen and increased seating space. Keeping true to the nett bar identity, the shady acres location still has bocce ball but now also a dedicated, gated dog park, and a cafe soon to open. Expect it to get busy during Astros and college football game days, but not to worry, the shady acres location has more tables, booths and outdoor bar seating to accommodate every time of group - college reunions, families, neighborhood friends, even first dates. They do have two small dedicated parking lots but still, parking is tight. I recommend taking a ride share whenever possible. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Great drink selections and good hamburgers. Good outside seating selections. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The food is phenomenal at Nettbar. The drinks are consistently good every single time. The owner and management are wonderful people. This is establishment is a staple for me and come at least once a week. It's a great place to bring kids and watch a game. Love this location and the original!
google avatar

Camryn K.

Yelp
Bartenders are super sweet and fast service at the wells. Food is good too, tacos were a little smaller than anticipated but diverse menu options for people. Outdoor space is great with lawn games & TVs all over for watchin the Stros. Clean interior and bathrooms. However, the kids running around is INSANE. I would not recommend coming here before 8. Came on a sunday with some friends to watch the game & the kids had taken over. We brought dogs to bring into the dog area & kids were playing in there, all over the bocce hall area, running around the restaurant and screaming at the ping pong table... We could hear the kids screaming from inside our cars even. We left to a different bar after one drink cause we couldn't take it anymore. If you have kids, perfect spot to bring them im sure. but for everyone else, save yourself the headache and go somewhere else until the night.

Katie D.

Yelp
The owner called us "inconsiderate, entitled a**holes in front of our children. I would hardly call that "family friendly." Edited to add: We spoke to John about allowing them to play Bocce and Ping Pong (against the posted rules!) so long as no one else was there which they did respectfully. He only got mad about it when we approached him about why our food was taking so long. He got aggressive, not us, and he admitted he was short staffed but made no effort to remedy the situation. Also, I have never seen a more ridiculous and inconvenient food/bar set up where you have to order everything in two different buildings meaning of course you are short staffed and stressed out! The fact that he can defend himself for this tells you all you need to know.
google avatar

Ada S.

Yelp
The food is delicious. The drinks were perfect! They have games and events depending on the night of the week. Check them out! We had a great time!
google avatar

Marcia G.

Yelp
Love the concept of this bar and the two "yards" it offers. I think the neighborhood needed another kid friendly place you could watch a game and this hits the nail on the head! Food has been great and I love all the frozen options as well. We will be back often!
google avatar

Eric W.

Yelp
Great bar! Lots of outdoor spaces with TVs to watch the games. They always have heaters out when it's cold. Bartenders are so nice. My only problem is how many babies and young kids that are here a lot of the time. I know it's "family friendly," but was here one Saturday around 6:00 and so many kids weee running around it felt like a day care.
google avatar

Edmund K.

Yelp
Just tried out their classic burger. Very good, nice and juicy. French fries were nice and crispy, not overly salty. Service was quick and friendly, about 10 minutes from ordering to table during a kid of slow point in the afternoon. Music gets louder at a certain point, so if you want a quiet meal, sit a bit further from the speakers.
google avatar

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
We went last night with our family and loved everything about the place. Great atmosphere, food was tasty, drinks were well made. Service was on point. Our favorite part was that they have a park for our young kiddos to play. Glad we to have another restaurant/bar with a playground in our rotation.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Very dog friendly with dog run, and allowing dogs allowed in bar area (but of course not in food prep area), with above average food, kid play area, bocce and bags...and super friendly staff. Parking can be troublesome when it's very busy. Great to watch a game, chat with friends and just hang out
google avatar

Cecelia C.

Yelp
The drinks are super cool. The bartenders are really knowledgeable. Make sure you go on a nice school night because it's mostly outside. It is covered, but it is hot in Houston. I enjoyed myself very much. And they make a pretty good old-fashioned.

Emily W.

Yelp
Great spot to grab a drink, play with the kids, eat, etc. Love the Earth Bowl! It's delicious

Mark B.

Yelp
This new addition to the original NettBar is a 2.0 version - taking the best elements of the popular original to the next level. Owners John and Oswaldo are amazing hands-on operators. This 2.0 version, created from the ground up is well designed for interior and exterior space, boasts lots of screens for watching the Astros, Texans and other major sports teams and events, has a very well stocked bar with lots of tap handles and frozen adult slushies and in this new facility includes an excellent kitchen serving a diverse and tasty menu. Oh, and the staff members are very friendly and service-driven. The overall ambiance is relaxing and inviting with good energy. It's even a place where there's a place for toddlers to play when mom and dad are having a cold adult beverage.

Dan F.

Yelp
Chill vibe, kid friendly and a patio that is NOT on a busy street. Solid burger that can compete with the best. The video feed of the train tracks from Netbar #1 is fun. Definitely recommend
google avatar

Morgan L.

Yelp
Great drinks, good atmosphere and friendly staff. Great addition to the heights - has the old heights feel before the bars on 20th became club-like. Chill, roomy patio with plenty of big TVs.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Great new place in Shady Acres! Games, food, drinks, lots of TVs and tables outside. Welcome addition to the neighborhood!

Nick B.

Yelp
Beware, they "sometimes" auto grat your credit card 20%. When I asked why my tab was charged 20% and my friend was not, I was told the computer is doing crazy things with the storm. Which doesn't make any sense.

Daniel S.

Yelp
0 stars. Parents BEWARE, new facilities with attentive staff, unfortunately anything good that could be said about this place is negated by the high strung owner who spent more time scolding children not to play in areas near TVs (TVs all throughout in this "kid friendly" business), than actually spending time in doing the rounds to make sure customers who waited an hr an a half for food to be served were ok. The owner gets triggered and becomes aggressive when older children play outside this one gated corner that is designated for toddlers. Our children left crying after being scolded by the aggressive owner who later acted violent and was cussing at the parents. Lesson learned, this seemingly kid friendly place is true to its name. It is a bar and the owner creates a non kid friendly ambiance.

Shaheen M.

Yelp
Food, ambience, and management: Food - 4.5 stars Ambience- 4 Management -0 Anthony (the manager) has not trained his staff nor has any care for customer care. Per my groups experience, as well as 3 other groups around us. Details to come..... Update: We were told the longhorns game was to played on a specific outdoor screen. So several families gathered on that area. Ordered food and drinks and settled in. As soon as the game started, they switched it to the Astros game. When I requested that it be changed, he said that the IT game was being played on other screens and to move. At which point I explained we were told that the UT game was going to be played on this screen and that we would not fit in the as that is playing the game. With some back and forth he finally switched the game. There were 0 people there to watch the Astros game. Mind you we were a group of 15 out of 45 in this section. Then before the game was over they told us kids under the age of 13 had to leave before 9pm. No signs anywhere. website doesn't say it. Everyone was furious. We didn't leave until the game was over, because they had 0 legal stance of not allowing kids after 9pm. As we were leaving the lot, they were letting in a group with a 10 year old. The manager lacks communication and integrity. Basics

Jenny M.

Yelp
Great place. Indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of TVs. There is a designated area for kiddos to play and not disturb other customers. The Brussel sprouts and chicken karaage had amazing flavor.

Brandon C.

Yelp
This is the second iteration of one of the best neighborhood bars in the city. Incredibly friendly staff, top level service, and a welcoming atmosphere have carried over from the original location on Nett Street to W 22nd. They even have a live web cam stream of the tracks from their first location for their famous Train Shots! What more can you ask for?

Matt K.

Yelp
Great place for the entire family. Food is good, drinks are reasonably priced, and the management is nice. Recommend the steak night and coffee frozen drink

April C.

Yelp
Love this place, especially the playground outside the bar. Reminds me of kid-friendly bar/restaurants in Europe

Jack C.

Yelp
Never had such rude or passive aggressive bartenders in my life. Do NOT come to this bar if you want to enjoy a few drinks with friends. Horrible staff that were blatantly disrespectful.

Miguel S.

Yelp
Great place to go with kids or friends. Has a little bit of everything for everyone. Food is awesome as well. Highly recommend!

Mauricio H.

Yelp
I had such high hopes for this new bar in the area, but unfortunately our experience was anything but pleasant. Waited over an hour and a half for our food after their menu was already limited since they were out of many of their items. That could be forgiven since they are just now ramping up, give them a pass. What is absolutely unacceptable is the owner of the bar scolding kids because they were playing around close to the TVs. This is a kid friendly bar with TVs everywhere and play areas for all kids. After scolding our kids he had the audacity to get in a heated verbal confrontation with us about the issue. He could've easily come to us and respectfully asked that the kids didn't "run around" so much, instead he opted for unwarranted insults and verbal abuse. Basically "I don't want your money, get the f**k out of my bar". Over kids playing in your "kid friendly" bar? We were there to watch the Astros win over the Rangers and what should've been a great night unfortunately ended in us getting yelled at and insulted by this high strung, arrogant owner.
