In a city where there are options at every single corner I'm very disappointed. Pushing the membership exclusivity & $10 cover during their temporary opening to the public is not the worst part of it. The bar itself is small, too tiny if this were to really be open to the public.
I don't mind paying $18 for each cocktail...but the 2 drinks we had were terrible (Scotch n Spicy and Añejo Manhattan) avoid these, unless we simply got unlucky. Flavors we're off & flat, definitely not worth $18 and then there are a lot of details that just add up to a non great experiences:
We came in last night after the cold rain storm. Everyone was all bundled in coats & jackets, this exclusive bar doesn't have a coat check, not even a hanger or hooks. There are not enough stools, chairs & people where using the few to put their whole group's clothes and bags. I uploaded a pic of the only shared table with a bunch of coats on it, so not only you can't find a place to sit, you can't even rest your drink on the ONE shared table. Also not enough printed menus, sharing menus at the tables was ridiculous in the new era of QR codes menus.
Simply makes this an experience of a standard random bar in any city in any country.
There are so many elegant bars with just as pricey (or better yet cheaper drinks) that are much more flavorful, faster service and a higher-end experience without having to be a member or pay a cover charge.
This building is an architectural gem! It's LA's history at its best! Interior designers should have treated this as a sacred space not a trendy WeWork. As a temporary -open to the public- they should have put in the extra effort to want you to come back or even become a member.
