Nevada Governor Mansion

I visited this Nevada Governor's Mansion and its neighborhood on the Halloween night. It's a nice place to visit with family on events. Also, I love this neighborhood with friendly residents and large trees.

Fun on Halloween. The Governor filled my pocket with candy and took photos with everyone.

The Governor's Mansion is absolutely stunning. It is open to the public only one day out of the year and that's on Nevada Day! The tour is free and is given by people dressed in period clothing. You get to see all the rooms and learn about the history. I loved the silver place settings with the Nevada shaped napkins. The silverware even had little "N"s on them! They also do an amazing job of decorating the outside of the mansion during the holidays.

My friend took me for a ride to check out the Carson City Must-See attractions. Nevada Governor Mansion was quite low key in a quiet neighborhood, nothing special, no security no guards. My friend told me you can visit the Mansion only on the state holiday, the anniversary that Nevada joined UNited States. However, any non profit org can request to use the mansion to host charity and fund raising, that is quite nice for the governor to use the public venue for some good deeds! 👍👍

We took a stroll in this beautiful, peaceful neighborhood and enjoyed the distinctive architectural details of this remarkable Mansion. The Governor personally hands out treats on Halloween. Also, the Nevada Room is available for use by nonprofit organizations, charitable community groups and schools.

The governors mansion was a really cool and exciting place where I recently attended an installation ceremony event. The ballroom was spacious and over all awesome space to hold breakfasts or luncheons. The staff was friendly and the set up of the event was lovely.

I was here last week to witness Governor Lombardo's signing of Senate Bill 96 (which designates January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day in the State of Nevada). The Governor's Mansion complex includes the home and an adjacent (and nicely appointed) Reception Building, where this event took place. The impressive 2-story Governor's mansion itself is within a residential neighborhood of Carson City, and apparently is a stop along the Kit Carson Trail. The Governor's Mansion is also known to be one of the most haunted places in Nevada.

Every year during Halloween the Governor and staff host this fun trick-or-treat event for families at the Mansion and it was a lot of fun! There's live music and fun entertainment. Tons of other kiddos show up dressed in wonderful costumes and await their turn. Coming out to this event it's a lot of fun!

A long as I have lived in Reno and as many times as I have driven to Carson City, I have never seen the Governor's Mansion. Finally found out the address and this drive to Carson today, we did in fact find the Governor's Mansion. Quite surprised it is hidden away and in a little neighborhood, would never have discovered it without GPS. Impressive and the back area particularly lovely. Know they have tours but not in the Covid times. Now on my list to revisit in better times.

After touring the Capitol Building, the next item on our agenda was visiting the Governor's Mansion, which was a short ten block drive away. It's in a nice, but not exclusive residential neighborhood. I was surprised that you can park right on the street next to the mansion. The two story Classical Revival mansion was built in 1909. It was structurally rehabilitated in 1968 with additional buildings on the grounds added in 1998. We were here in mid-October, the mansion was all decorated to celebrate the upcoming Halloween. I was quite impressed how the grounds and building was fully decorated. I can image the hordes of trick or treaters coming here on Halloween. You can walk to the back side of the mansion and see the beautiful back grounds. The mansion is open for tours on Nevada Day, which is the last Saturday in October. I hope to have the opportunity in the future in the come back to take the tour of this historical building.

Only in Nevada will you find the Governors Mansion opened to the public and available for fundraising events! The staff and trustees that organize and supervise the events make the experience so pleasant. Sitting in the quaint old west side of Carson with all the homes and large trees the setting is peaceful. Calm enough for mother for and her twins to come along and chew on the yard.

In California our Governor's mansion is a historical landmark and unoccupied by the sitting Governor. In Nevada, I'm told, the sitting Governor actually resides in this Governors mansion, and I'm amazed how close visitors are permitted to admire the structure. The mansion is located in a modest residential area that adds to the feeling of accessibility of the Governor to the citizens of the State. Impressive! The grounds are well-maintained, the building is Stately (but not over the top), and the overall size of the property seems consistent with the scale of the Capitol building and prestige of the elected office. For out-of-State visitors I think this is a must-see (especially Californians)...may provide some useful perspective?

Free tours on Nevada Day. Very fun to mull around looking at the rooms. Most rooms are open down stairs while the upstairs rooms are roped off so you can only look inside. Very friendly staff and as an added plus, you receive a free cookie when you leave. Two thumbs up!
