It’s not very large but absolutely jam packed with awesome exhibits! Definitely worth the time to take and explore. The Ichthyosaurus exhibit is phenomenal and I felt like a kid exploring it. They have a cute cafe (didn’t eat; can’t rate the food) but it was packed and a nice sitting area in the lobby. Gift shop was reasonably priced for a museum.

Nice museum. $15 entry fee. Free parking. Gift shop inside. No magnets or stickers :( Not busy at all. The art inside was interesting. I expected more, we were a little bit bored and hope they expand it.

Very spacious, cool exhibits, friendly staff. On the Thursday evening that I went there were two lectures happening. I attended a segment of the AI and Politics lecture and it was well done.

I was fortunate enough to visit while the Dorothea Lange exhibit was there, and it was incredible. The Judith Lowry exhibit was just stunning. The museum has been recently renovated, and the gathering spaces were open and inviting. We visited two rooftop areas that are used for events with a great view of the city and valley. The ichthyosaur exhibit was very well presented with the video, fascinating stuff. My daughter was quite happy with the plush ichy she got from the well-stocked gift shop. I was a little disappointed that there were so few people there. With such a diverse selection of exhibits (Langston Hughes, Aboriginal art!), where were all the visitors? Anyway, I loved it and highly recommend a visit. Patronize the arts in every city you visit if you can!

Everything about this place is incredible. True art!! Wonderful docents. Clean, beautiful and special art exhibits. It’s a must see when in Reno!

Google
They had an excellent collection of Dorothea Lange photographs, a brilliant portrait of Ella Fitzgerald by Beauford Delaney, and an impressive collection of paintings by Judith Lowry. I think other reviewers here have been harsh. I quite enjoyed my afternoon at the Nevada Museum of Art.

Google
We visited to check out the Ichthyosaurus exhibit, and it was absolutely amazing! There were so many cool displays, but this one completely stole the show, it’s wild to think these fossils are real. The staff was super knowledgeable, answering all our questions, and we had a blast browsing the gift shop for some fun home decor.

Great museum with very interesting exhibits. Friendly staff. Free with NARM membership.

Yelp
This art museum is a beautiful place to go, especially on a hot day. I've been here many times for various reasons. I've been here for teacher, events, field trips, and simply with my family just for pleasure. And every visit is different, but one thing remains, Nevada Museum of art is a beautiful place that holds a high standard for bringing art to its patrons. It's a very clean place, I love that they have a café, and it's well designed. I also enjoy the outside garden that is part of the art installation! Megan Ballister is an amazing human who works alongside her team and any teacher should book a field trip through them! They make it a fun and easy field trip for everyone. All of our chaperones had a great time and the students couldn't stop raving about it! I highly recommend checking into that!

Yelp
Thank you Ann Wolfe for co-curating the exhibition at the "Deep Time: Sea Dragons of Nevada." It was amazing and the Ichthyosaur fossils were shockingly HUGE! Nevada Museum of Art is the only art museum in the state of Nevada accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. We are so lucky to get to enjoy all your hard work!!

Yelp
Had a great time here at the NV Museum of Art. First time checking it out and fun exploring the current exhibition on the Australian Art as well as the history of NV sea creatures! Wow! The staff was nice, the retail should push more of magnets and keychains, I love those things and couldn't find any so I was bummed out about that.

Yelp
It's been years since I visited and I had such a great visit this time that I purchased a membership so I could come back. I was impressed with the Ichthyosaurs exhibit where there is a full set of fossil remains of this ancient sea creature pm display. There is even a paleoart sculpture at the exhibit entrance which is very thought provoking. Along with the great exhibit I enjoyed the Cafe downstairs. They offer a nice selection of salads, wraps, and soup at reasonable prices and a nice cafe atmosphere. Museum art classes and lectures are offered throughout the week as well. This is a great place to hang out for the day. You can even get some interesting gifts in the museum shop at the entrance. Con: It can be difficult to park. Sometimes you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. I also marked off one star because it is such a small museum and there are not many displays or exhibits. The museum is undergoing an expansion that will open this year.

Yelp
Came in to see the Ichthyosaurus exhibit! It was so much fun. We loved seeing the other exhibits but this one stole the show. We couldn't believe that these were real fossils! Lots of fun exhibits and videos to watch. The workers were very knowledgeable and answered mine and my husbands questions about anything and everything! We loved shopping in the shop and picking up a few decor items for the house. We will always come when there is a new exhibit!

Yelp
The Nevada Museum is across the River from downtown Reno. You can take the Virginia Line bus there from the 4th St bus Station too. There's were only 3 exhibits there today. Sea Dragons of the Sea and an art exhibit of "We Were Lost in Our Country," on the Ngurraran tribe in Australia. The cafe was closed today. But there are coffee shops and restaurants near by. There is a gift shop and free parking there too.
google avatar

Diane S.

Yelp
Iky!! It was soo cool to learn about them and see the exhibit. Museum is small compared to sf but the gift shop was so cool and had a lot of jelly cats and local artist items for sale. Nice place to get a unique gift. I also thought th cafe was nice and so was the curtains. We got free tickets with UNR id and with the library discover and go pass. Found parking across the street

Yelp
What a Fabulous May Afternoon at the Nevada Museum of Art, First Thursday monthly event for museum members, guests and the public. A small fee gives you a drink ticket and evening of entertainment. You can stroll through the incredible museum to see all the many floors of exhibits and enjoy the rooftop music, wine and events. A few Businesses were invited to have a table to show off their specialities. The Atlantis Casino & Resort, Bighorn Olive oil Company and Lead with Horses to name a few. Musician Eric Stangeland on guitar and Mel & Gia with their awesome band came to play. CCO/Deputy Director, Amy Oppio came to meet us all and to tell us more about the Nevada Museum of Art. This is a fantastic and Five Star monthly ongoing event that is always different and truly enjoyable Art, Music and cool people make for a wonderful museum experience. I will come back next month to see the ongoing exhibits and meet new artists, hear wonderful music with musicians from around Reno and meet museum members. Loved this event! Julie A

Yelp
I went with a friend to the First Thursday of the month event. This event was fun...live music, drinks, art, conversation, and made a collage . Actually, friend made a collage while I watched. Love their gift shops. Found out they don't do the brunch with reservations anymore. Good idea, as people wouldn't leave after they ate. They were enjoying the music, while people with reservations had to stand around waiting for more than an hour while the cafe was trying to close. Anyway friend has been enjoying the art classes, and these events, maybe I'll give it a try.

Yelp
Nevada Museum of Art - A Stunning Building, But a Letdown Inside We recently visited the Nevada Museum of Art, and while the building itself is truly impressive--grand, modern, and beautifully designed over several stories--the actual experience inside was underwhelming. The architecture is probably the highlight of the entire visit. It's a gorgeous structure that feels spacious and impressive from the moment you walk in. Unfortunately, the exhibits didn't quite live up to the building's promise. One exhibit was literally just dinosaur toys scattered around, another had a mildly interesting effect with light shining through smoke on the ground, and a third featured a bunch of bones from a whale-like creature. Cool in theory, but not exactly mind-blowing in execution. The biggest disappointment was that nearly half the museum was closed for cleaning--in the middle of the day. Why not do that after hours? On top of that, we couldn't access the top floor because it was reserved for a wedding. So we paid $30 for two adults and only got to see a fraction of what's normally offered. When we mentioned our disappointment, we were told we could "come back tomorrow," which we assumed would require another $30. No thanks. All in all, if you're a fan of architecture, it might be worth stopping by just to admire the building. But if you're going for the exhibits, you might want to manage your expectations--or check in advance that everything is open.
google avatar

Todd E.

Yelp
The building is super nice and a great location. I enjoyed learning about the Nevada Icky (Ichthyosaurus) and its history. However there really was not much to see at all in terms of artwork- it was really disappointing. Our town is in desperate need of some more art and the NMOA is in a great position to fill that need. I can see maybe a $5 dollar price tag for what you offer but not $15 - comes off to the customer that you are only using the money for your building renovations.

Yelp
I really enjoy going to the Nevada Museum of Art all year round! They are constantly changing their exhibits and I like how they festure both regional artists as well as world renowned artists. The second Saturday events are also really fun for the kids, they give us adults a chance to see the exhibits, while also sharing them with the kids. There are also art activities and usually live music. I've seen some really great performances during these events. Highly recommend, and did I mention it's free to get in! The First Thursday's music events are also really fun, being able to listen to music on the rooftop with a beautiful view and intimate venue for music. We are very lucky to have an amazing museum in Reno, I'm excited to see what the expansion brings!

Yelp
Its pretty special that we have this place here in Reno. It could have easily gone down south. Just went for the Maynard Dixon exhibition and i was impressed. Over 100 of his works. If you havent been you should go. Support the museum and its place in our community.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love Maynard Dixon exhibition at the Nevada Museum of Art. They always have great art displayed! Perfect way to stay out of the heat/cold during Reno's harsh weather.

Yelp
This is a beautiful museum! I even went over to speak with someone about volunteering as a docent. I did this for 22 years when I lived in the Bay Area and I really enjoyed teaching children about art. This docent program would be a lot of training, practical work, ect. I decided that I'm just done with more volunteering at this point in my life, at least something that wouldn't be so training intensive. We went yesterday to see the exhibit that was leaving that very day. It was super cool to learn all about the "ghost army". I must admit that I didn't know anything about this...it was incredible to read and learn about this army and how they were able to fool Hitler's soldiers at least 6 times. As we were getting ready to leave we saw they were showing a documentary about the "ghost army" so we went in and watched the entire show. It was excellent and so educational for me... The next installation was the art of Native American artist named Ben Aleck. His work was exceptional! I love that his work was all about his culture. We went up to the 4th floor where they hold parties and such, it was a great space for events! In each bathroom there was a great photo of Marilyn Monroe from the last movie she made, cool! We had a wonderful time and the fact that we got there right when they opened at 10 a.m. was awesome because as we were leaving people were pouring in, probably because it was the final day for the Ghost Army exhibition. Love this place!

Yelp
I had a free afternoon in Reno and a local recommended this museum. It has free parking right near the entrance and I had no problem finding a spot on a weekday afternoon. Upon entry I was greeted by a friendly cashier, she asked if I was a student or senior because those groups get discounted admission. I paid the full $15 and was handed a sticker to put on. The bottom floor has a cafe, outside pieces of art, museum shop, and theater. The theater is hidden behind the stair case. I recommend going to the fifth floor and take in the view of southern Reno. Then slowly work your way down. There were four exhibitions to review. The exhibit on the Ghost Army of World War II was very interesting, that was on the 3rd floor. There is a 1 hour documentary on the first floor that complimented the exhibit. Also on the 3rd floor is an exhibit by an amazing Native American Artist Ben Aleck. The second floor is about a mid-century artist Adeline Kent. It took about 2-3 hours to go through the exhibit but I did watch the hour long documentary. I recommend this art museum.

Yelp
We are so lucky to have this museum. There is always something fabulous to explore here. Currently, Ghost Army will expand your knowledge of WWII. The experience includes audio, visual, and a bit of hands-on. One of the best aspects of visiting the Museum is that it is self-paced, so you can lose yourself in studying a particular display or painting or sculpture. It is a quiet and comfortable environment.
google avatar

Marlene Y.

Yelp
If you visit Reno or you live anywhere near here, discover gorgeous scenery from the rooftop and enjoy thought provoking art as well. The building itself is art. As a member, you can attend first Thursday- a great way to enjoy a drink, make a collage and learn about the "ghost army," plus the art of Adeline Kent and Ben Aleck. Music was great. Pictures included here. Check out this museum next time you're in town! The view from the rooftop is priceless.

Yelp
Came here for the Ghost Army exhibit. Wow! All I can say is WOW! I'm not an art guy. Not in the least but I will admit that I appreciate the many talents artists have. The ghost army exhibit on the third floor of the Nevada museum of art is impressive to say the least. Additionally, while I'm not much of a history buff, I found this exhibit educational, informative and exciting to learn about. The ghost army and its concept was classified as "secret" for decades until recently. I have never heard of this group of soldiers until now. There is displays of some of the soldier's sketches, paintings, drawings and letters while deployed in Europe. Super interesting. (I would have attached more pic but photography is prohibited) The movie on the first floor is probably the crown jewel and it's a quick 68 minutes. I would suggest seeing movie first and then going to third floor to see the exhibit. You won't be disappointed seeing this!

Yelp
I was so disappointed with the Sunday brunch. A totally different brunch from last year. The yolks of my eggs Benedict were cooked hard and cold, the hollandaise sauce, served on the side, was cold. The ham was not grilled. The music was outstanding as was the Art exhibit of Maynard Dixon. Fathers Day brunch was a bust. Both, the music and the art exhibit deserve 5 star ratings. The brunch, and this is painful for me, after last year's wonderful experience is a 2 star. There is always room and time for improvement.

Yelp
I am happy that the initial fear of covid is somewhat behind us, and am glad that public events are going strong in our Biggest Little City. Happy to have First Thursdays back at the Nevada Museum of Art. Music was courtesy of Loud As Folk and the Ex Wives. Since I am a member, I get in free, get a $5 coupon for a nice glass of wine or beer, and get to mingle with all of the beautiful people. Makes my heart sing to be able to enjoy the evening with like minded people, browse the latest exhibition, and perhaps eat at the fine dining at the museum. There is also a very nice gift shop with lots of artsy, ethnic type jewelry (who doesn't like jewelry?) The volunteers are friendly and very helpful. Nice place to go, especially since our colder months are starting to creep in..

Yelp
Very cool Museum with lovely display.Local history of the area and beyond centuries of history. Mainly went to see the'Ghost Army exhibit from WWIl. Learned a lot about how the Army tricked the opponent! Loads of artifacts !

Yelp
I was fully expecting to have to rush through the Museum as I arrived at 5:15 pm but I lucked out. This was their late night and on top of that, there was a mixer/gathering on the rooftop that included a free drink. Art and booze? You bet! A great collection of nearly all modern art with a little bit of contemporary art mixed in. I quite enjoyed my visit and it was surprisingly quiet in the galleries because most folks were already upstairs enjoying their free drink and the live music. Rachel Hayes "Someday When We're Dreaming" abstract fiber-art installation that consumes the open atrium area is particularly unique. Definitely worth an hour of your time or more to enjoy and appreciate the artworks. [Review 17715 overall - 59 in Nevada - 1236 of 2022.]

Yelp
5star. So much better then expected. I'm not from the area, but try to go to a museum on every trip. Cafe- A must try. 5 star food. Not your hamburger and hot dog joint. It's more white tablecloth with prices to match. We came specifically for lunch. I had the pasty puff, filled with cheese and a salad on the bottom. My mom had the salmon platter. Just like a fancy restaurant. They have a real chef on staff. We sat in the little cafe area and loved it. I had soda water and got a few refills. This place is worth checking out. I believe you don't have to pay admission to eat here. Exhibit- 2 main floors. So much to see. Classic and modern exhibits. Activity center- We just missed the sugar skulls. We were in time for the metal etching. So fun. My mom loved this crafty activity. It brought a big crowed. Entrance- look for the free day. We used our NARM membership. With my love of museums it totally pays off. This is a must see. I look forward to returning for the next exhibit.

Yelp
How lucky we are to have THE state museum of art here in Reno. It isn't huge, but the quality of the exhibits is excellent. The employees and volunteers are always nice and very helpful. I got to see the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit twice! I was so fortunate! Look at their website to find out what the current exhibits are. Because the exhibits change, you can time your visits to see something new each time. However, keep an open mind, because an exhibit that might sound boring to you could turn out to be very interesting!

Yelp
A pretty decent art museum for this area. It isn't a very big museum but it still has a lot of interesting artwork and exhibits. Nevada Museum of Art is a nice place to wander around for a few hours. Fairly cheap compared to other museum admission prices, because it's not a big museum of course. The artists whose works are here are mostly regional but it shows lots of talent. It won't take long to get around. Museum is kind of a small building and there's limited space. The museum makes do with what it has though. It's a pretty good size for a city like Reno. Lots of the artwork here is by local artists so it's a good way of recognizing them. Admission is usually pretty cheap. The general admission is only $10 most times. Has a lot of Native American art. There's also plenty based on the history of the state like the pioneers and railroads and how these have been important to the community and economy here. Gift shop is on the first floor. It also has a restaurant but the museum makes up for the cheap admission price by selling overpriced drinks and food in here. The parking lot is free and there's plenty of spaces.

Yelp
We come to seconded Saturday and loooove their activities. So grateful they do this! We enjoyed a jazz concert this last weekend and always have fun with their different craft projects. Their volunteers are great also, thank you volunteers!

Yelp
Came to enjoy Second Saturday with the addition of crafts, story time, and The Reno Philharmonic; along with the beautiful and thought provoking galleries. All museum staff are knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. The cafe has delicious and welcoming snacks and beverages. The shop always has enticing trinkets.

Yelp
11-13-21 Quality/Quantity - For the most part, this museum shows my kind of art. The Nevada Museum of Art is the only accredited art museum in the state of Nevada. With accreditation, the Museum joins the ranks of other significant institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Just 5% of all museums in the U.S. earn AAM accreditation. They also offer tours. Atmosphere - Had a cafe on the first floor. The owner of the cafe has approximately 10 restaurants and just bought Great Basin Brewery. I will do a separate yelp on this cafe. Clean and very spacious. Good exhibits that I can relate to. Just came back from visiting many museums in Texas and this is by far much better. Currently has 11 exhibits, my favorite being Judy Chicago: Dry Ice, Smoke, and Fireworks Archive. 4 floors of art. Had many interactive rooms, a GREAT place to also bring young kids. They also have classes and virtual programs. Public programs: Families, Teens, Seniors, Spanish Language, etc. Service - Welcomed us when we walked in. Shared today's agenda and what they have on exhibit. Price - Free second Saturday of every month! Free admission courtesy of the Estelle J. Kelsey Foundation Hands ON! Second Saturdays program. The Museum also offers free unlimited admission to all public high school students. To receive free admission, students must show a current student ID at the admission desk. The free high school admission program also includes admission for one guest Owner Suggestion - Thanks for all you do!

Yelp
The last time I was in the Reno NVMuseumofArt was to see Tibetan Monk Lobsang Samten do sand mandalas at the previous location near the Truckee River. Today I purchased a senior annual pass. I was glad that I am vaccinated and don't have to wear a mask. Visitor Services Lead, Christina Michael, showed me a nice painting of Mt. Rose for sale in the gift shop. I will be back to see more.

Yelp
After 10 years, I figured it was time to update my review. Covid Rating - 5 Service - 5 Overall Experience - 5 We have been members here for a long time and this museum is definitely one of my favorite spots in Reno. Over time, and with the breadth and depth of the exhibits that have been here over the last 10 years, I definitely need to upgrade my review and rating. Let's get the Covid thing out of the way first - Before going, you need to make a reservation ahead of time on line for the day and time slot you want. This really helps them manage their numbers. All staff were wearing masks, masks are required of all visitors, and there is staff diligently circulating and wiping down surfaces. Most of the galleries are large enough to view the art work while distancing from others. All the staff are friendly and helpful and are knowledgable about the exhibits. Talks and tours are provided virtually and are accessible on-line. The staff make visitors feel welcome and the vibe is never stuffy or elite. I still stand by what I said in my prior review: "If you are expecting a MOMA or Guggenheim or Getty, then you will be sorely disappointed. If, however, you enjoy eclectic collections presented in an interesting building, this is the place. Yes, it is small, but we should consider quality not quantity. The Nevada Museum of Art is the perfect size for an afternoon visit. You can see it all before your bout of "museum fatigue" sets in. I have enjoyed the changing exhibits; some more than others, but that is kind of the point - to expose yourself to a variety of forms and genres and expressions." So yea - this is a solid 5 star attraction!

Yelp
My organization, Shades of Queening, was invited to a Talk and Lunch with Sidney Cain. I had an amazing time. The talk was very engaging, and the lunch afterward, catered by Roundabout Catering, was delicious! Claire was very kind and hospitable. I will continue to be a supporter of the museum!

Amanda M.

Yelp
A little gem in Reno, Nevada with big ambitions. Please support this museum it may be small, but it offers bold exhibitions and a platform for empowering artists. Don't miss the stunning views of the city from the top floor. The staff is wonderful, too!

Yelp
I haven't been to the Nevada Museum of art in a while, I think the last time I went was to see the Steve Wynn collection and the museum has changed so much since then. We went to see the "Ghost Army: The Combat Con Artist of World War II" exhibit and not only was it educational but also absolutely awe-inspiring. Our servicemen were so clever, resourceful and creative. Aside from replicas of the ghost army tanks and planes, the exhibit also had a collection of the service men's uniforms, military equipments like an explosive case, portable typewriter and a morse code machine. Additionally, the exhibit also numerous artworks from the service men on display; they were all so talented. We also walked through Adaline Kent's exhibit- a must see; as wells as an exhibit from Reno native Ben Aleck (who, according to his bio attended both Vaughn Middle and Wooster High school-- my alma matters too!). Artist Rachel Hayes' cascading piece entitled "Someday When We're Dreaming" was absolutely breathtaking, not to mention vertigo inducing since the piece flows through all four floors of the museum. Overall, this was such a worthwhile and thoroughly enjoyable experience, we cane to see one exhibit but were treated to three other fascinating exhibits.

Geoff R.

Yelp
This is a surprise find in Reno - while the collection is not massive, the special shows are very well curated and locally very relevant. It is a lovely venue, and a delightful contrast to the mega casinos on the other side of the river. A worthwhile stop the nest time you are in Reno.

Lindsay H.

Yelp
Not even one star... what a joke of an art museum. They charge you $15 each person for what is essentially a gallery walk on two floors of a couple artists. We visit art museums all over the country and this was the biggest disappointment by far. Do not waste your time or money here
google avatar

Fran V.

Yelp
Great museum, even better we were lucky enough to get free tickets this weekend as B of A members (they are a sponsor.) The museum has four levels, the first level being mostly the gift shop, the fourth level being office space and a deck, and the two middle floors being the area where the exhibits are located. One thing I noticed was that the building was very comfortable temperature wise, you could definitely feel the a/c which is much appreciated when the temps outside are reaching the triple digits! The exhibits were cool and the space comfortable. There is also a small sculpture garden out front/ side of the building to visit before or after you walk around inside. Even if we would have paid the $10'admission, I feel it's worth it to check it out.

Theresa S.

Yelp
The museum itself was fine. My sons had looked forward to going. As someone else mentioned the staff is not kind to young adults. My older son, his wife and my other son were separated in the gift shop for a short time. The woman at the counter made rude remarks and was suspicious for no reason of the younger one. It ruined the whole day for all of them. I won't be returning. The woman in the gift shop is not only rude but judgmental and condescending.

Yelp
I reserved a time to visit online and was promptly checked in at my allotted time. Masks are required and limited guests allowed. Lots of hand sanitizing stations. The drinking fountains are covered and there are no brochures or other printed handouts. The elevators are available for use. The rooftop was accessible but frankly it was scorching by 10:30 am. Lots of staff everywhere. I'm glad I made the effort to go. The current exhibition of contemporary art is definitely worth seeing. Lots of printmaking techniques on display. I also made a quick walk thru of the rest but found my limit of enjoyment at about 45 minutes under a mask. Tip- the book shop at the front has some great art themed jigsaw puzzles. I saw Wolf Kahn and Edgar Gorey for instance.

Yelp
Upon my arrival here, I was able to learn a bit more about our indigenous natives and picasso. There's always room for more knowledge!

Yelp
We haven't been to the museum in a while. Last time we went we felt like there was a lot of good exhibits. We recently went during an event for kids so the second floor was closed so this might be slightly off. Maybe the second floor has a ton of fantastic art. We didn't really enjoy the exhibits that we did see. I found myself wanting for more. I hope they will continue to rotate the exhibitions.

Yelp
A beautiful exhibit on the whole person. From the website: "Georgia O'Keeffe: Living Modern takes a new look at how the renowned modernist artist proclaimed her progressive, independent lifestyle through a self-crafted public persona--including her clothing and the way she posed for the camera. The exhibition expands our understanding of O'Keeffe by focusing on her wardrobe, shown for the first time alongside key paintings and photographs. It confirms and explores her determination to be in charge of how the world understood her identity and artistic values. In addition to selected paintings and items of clothing, the exhibition presents photographs of O'Keeffe and her homes by Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Philippe Halsman, Yousuf Karsh, Cecil Beaton, Andy Warhol, Bruce Weber, Todd Webb, and others."

Yelp
This museum is located in Reno, not far from the casinos. It is mostly a "vertical" building as the land it's on is not very big but it does have parking. When you enter, the front desk reception is right in front and it first feels like you entered an office or corporate building. The staff at this desk the day went was very friendly and helpful. We decided to start with the top and work our way down as I have always thought of that as the easiest strategy. The very top floor is a roof top event and reception area which has a great view of the City of Reno. While walking down to the lower levels to check out the art, we found one floor that had display of actual spices arranged to appeal to your sight as well as smell. It is located in a blank black colored room so this display jumps out at you. The docent working this room was very friendly and helpful in explaining the display. This museum has a very relaxing atmosphere and it features alot of local artists. Great way to spend the afternoon.

Yelp
A small but important bit of educational information. Regularly rotating exhibits that provide interesting insights into so many different mediums.

Yelp
Astounding Museum Considering Size Of Community https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nevada-museum-of-art-reno?select=2M6IJUW0WvqHlhMJGV2ZzA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w SITREP The Nevada Museum of Art ("The Museum") is an impressive Art Community endeavor for the City of Reno. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nevada-museum-of-art-reno?select=_iMbsM7jLDNO1IBRxhizMQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w Very contemporary, The Museum has both the space and style to host many different exhibits simultaneously, thereby giving the visiting patron a lot of "Art"-bang for their buck! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nevada-museum-of-art-reno?select=Hib453NVea-JvqLcVQqQeQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE SETUP First a shout out to my friend Nancy V. who gathered a group of us friends together to enjoy this fun adventure (AND that got us out of the heat for a few hours to boot! *SCORE*) ;) Situated in Downtown Reno (very conveniently just a few blocks away from my favorite Reno coffee house "Old World Roasters" where I get my body all lubed up), The Museum is a multi-level excursion over some very exciting periods of history and takes into account, many different artists from many different backgrounds and movements. DOCENT TOUR I popped for the $10 to take the Docent-tour of the gallery and it was well worth it because of the incredible knowledge and and interactivity that she displayed. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nevada-museum-of-art-reno?select=MtOx_Yema_S275oOTYf7yw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w Some highlights: * I really enjoyed seeing the works of Meyer-Kassel, the emigre who escaped Germany, and saw the wealth of his works. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nevada-museum-of-art-reno?select=D1--DIt-2QtaobkAMvm9iw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w * Other works captured the revolutionary spirit of those fighting for the betterment of less fortunate individuals. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nevada-museum-of-art-reno?select=Yxc1Z0fZaMR7x6Cb0NuJQw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE LOWDOWN If you Reno, you really owe it to yourself to take a couple of hours to peruse the galleries of The Museum and enjoy the works of many different creative muses!

Yelp
Gotta visit a Museum in Reno. I gotta say the art here is nice and very interesting. Tickets were pre ordered online and it wasn't full of people. I think my highlight here is the art inspired by Twinkies

Yelp
For a small town like Reno and a fairly small Museum, the Nevada Museum of Art packs a lot of great art within it's walls. I do not consider myself an art connoisseur, I enjoy the various exhibits and reading about the artist. Whenever possible take the cogent tour ... they always have a bit more than what is written on the wall placards. I've been there a number of times. Embarrassed to say, more often when I have out of town guests. But I never fail to enjoy the current exhibits. And if you've time for lunch, stop at Chez Louis on the first floor
