Small but fun coffee shop with unique drinks as well as traditional. We did not try any food but the drinks were very good! Prices are in line with other places but slightly high for the specialty drinks however they tasted delicious so overall was worth the cost to try out new things. Limited indoor seating area so definitely not a coffee shop to try and pull out a laptop or stay for extended lengths.

Google
Seriously outstanding coffee. They treat each latte with the care and interest of a craft cocktail. There’s nothing else out there quite like this, you need to give it a try.

Google
Very unique lattes and super yummy as well! Cute store with a great atmosphere. Probably not the best place to sit and work, but great for a quick 30-minute hangout with friends or by yourself over an excellent drink. Definitely coming back to try out all their lattes!

Google
So so so good!! 10/10 coffee and espresso. We got the yuzu and the Oregon and the pop. So delicious

Google
This is a very beautiful coffee shop. Very light and airy. The customer service is great and most of the drinks I've tried from this chainlet are great. This time I decided to try their Pop (tart cherries+makrut lime+matcha). I got it iced and unfortunately didn't taste neither tart cherries nor makrut lime. Which is strange because makrut limes have a very intense fragrance and taste. It tasted like a diluted matcha and it cost $7. Perhaps the flavors are more defined when the drink is hot.

Google
Never had a bad coffee here! Cortado is perfect and I like trying the specialty drinks. Customer service is great. I like going in winter, the light decor and friendly staff are always a mood booster. Pastries too!

Google
This quaint little place offered up some of the best espresso I had in my time on the West Coast. I ordered an americano that was smooth and nuanced in flavor. My partner ordered their special, which was a "Bramble" blackberry and Earl Grey latte, with oat milk. Which was phenomenal, as it had such a deep blackberry flavor. The service was smooth and friendly. Both baristas were talkative yet very efficient and knowledgeable about their product. The space itself was a little bit curated and mildly sterile for my taste, but that seems to be the vibe nowadays. TLDR - Great coffee and tea, great service.

Google
$8 for a strawberry Matcha is definitely a little pricey and quite honestly I didn’t think it was that great either. However, the interior and the drink itself was very visually appealing. My main complaint though was that there were so many flies inside 😭

Yelp
Quick Summary: - Indoor seats only, benches, chairs, and some seats aligned along the walls - Cozy atmosphere - Coffee was slightly sour, but it worked well with the special latte drink style I visited here during the summer of Portland, and it also was the hottest day in that visit. We arrived here, when the temperature was creeping up to the high 80s. From the outside, the building is painted black on brick. It looked like it would absorb every color of the sun's rays into the building. Inside, miraculously, was not as hot as I expected it to be (maybe it's half-thanks to the brick building?) It was lukewarm at the time but if I stayed there longer it might have grown stuffier. Inside the decor was simple, small, but cute. Despite the small interior, there were seats to sit around. I was curious with their special drinks, so I ordered the yuzu and salt iced latte (usually I would have ordered it hot, but that day was just too hot). My relative ordered the iced tea. They make the iced coffee and teas very well: the right amount of ice and tea that ever after the drink sits the ice did not water down the flavor. It might sound unexpected for the cafe, but my relative really enjoyed the tea. She was beaming when she took a sip. I enjoyed the coffee I chose as well. While it was sour, because the flavors were also on the sour and salty side, it worked. My relative didn't think so, so she continued to sip her tea. The flavor reaction depends on the person would be my final verdict. A positive addition to this drink, because the weather was so hot, I enjoyed the light salt and citrus flavor. It rejuvenated me from heat fatigue. Overall, the cafe was nice and comfortable to let time slip by; the staff were considerate and explained the different types of teas they offered before I landed on the one that turned out to be my relative's favorite.

Yelp
I recently visited this café and was intrigued by their very interesting signature latte flavors. They offer unique combinations like Yuzu & Salt (yuzu fruit, sansho pepper, burned sugar, coconut cream), Pop (tart cherries, makrut lime, matcha), and Oregon (cascade hops, dulce de leche, Jacobson sea salt). I decided to try a hot coffee, hoping to see some latte art, but unfortunately, there was no latte art this time, so I was very disappointed. Despite that, the flavors were unique. Overall, a great spot for anyone looking to explore some unique and creative latte flavors.

Yelp
I frequent both Never Coffee locations. I will usually grab myself a coffee at their Belmont location and then stop at Tabor Bread for a pastry (or 3), and I'll go to their downtown location when Im grabbing coffee with coworkers. The downtown location has a plenty of seating space and is an artistic minimalist space. They have seasonal and delicious specialty drinks with my favorites being the Yuzu + Salt and the Oregon (cascade hops, dulce de leche, and sea salt) with oat milk. While I'm a big fan of what they do, the specialty drinks with oat milk will run you $9...The prices at never are higher than most other similar spots, and for that reason im giving it a 4/5.

Yelp
Visiting Portland again and always have to make a stop at Never Coffee. I remember how good the yuzu salt latte was so I had to come back and get it again! They had way more specialty drinks this time and I also tried the Pop! Drinks came out quick (even though I ask for my latte extra hot) and both of the baristas were very kind and helpful! Good vibes in this coffee shop!

Yelp
I enjoyed a yuzu & salt latte at Never Coffee and would highly recommend this coffee shop! The latte itself was so unique and different! The two gentlemen behind the counter were super friendly and my coffee was made super quick! The inside of the shop was fun and colorful - certainly worth stopping in!!

Yelp
Super cute cafe - maintained cleanly, quite spacious and nice place to grab coffee and hangout. The specials had nice and fun coffee options. Service is pretty quick too.

Yelp
I live for a cute coffee shop. I just so happen to stumble upon this coffee shop waiting for my husband to get off work and was in love with the overall contemporary, airy vibes it gave. The barista was such a doll and made great conversation.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious espresso and drip! I don't always love ristretto-style espresso but the barista here did a great job and clearly had it dialed in. The space is cute, bright, and lively with colorful art around the walls. One of the many great choices you can make when deciding on coffee shops in the city!
google avatar

Rowan W.

Yelp
I hate to think I know all there is about coffee. In fact, I know very little. I do know, however, when espresso tastes a bit watery and not quite as robust as it could.m be. I don't add to my coffee - no milk, no sugar - so when the flavor trips me up, it's hard to overcome. Love the thematic names here. If you don't know now, see for yourself in person.

Yelp
Must try place in Portland for unique coffee drinks!! The space is beautiful with bright artwork and plants. They have truly unique signature drinks like yuzu latte and licorice latte, it was hard to choose. I decided to try the midnight oil - which had subtle licorice and anise flavor. They also have regular espresso drinks.

Yelp
I came here a while ago and had an okay experience. The inside of the coffeeshop itself is very cute and has seating for big groups while you study or just casual seating as you're waiting for your coffee. The decor is bright and the establishment is spacious. They also sell some coffee beans and trinkets on the side, which is cute. When I went, there was only one person working and as it was pretty busy, it took a while. But! I didn't mind as their special drinks were pretty unique so it took me a while to read through their menu. They had a fun blend of different flavors and stories to describe each of their drinks. I thought that it was a really creative process and fun way to involve customers in their drinks. The coffee itself was pretty good but, there were A LOT of clumps in my latte. I forgot which one I had gotten exactly, but it was one of the special ones. And, because there were small flies that kept flying around the cafe, it just made me feel a bit paranoid whenever I kept getting clumps as I was sitting in the cafe, drinking. So, although I couldn't enjoy my drink as much as I hoped, I think it just happened to be an unfortunate coincidence.

Yelp
October 2024 - Staff was very curt. Not a welcoming vibe at all. $7 for Filbert. $7 for Oregon. Worst part of this experience was that the drinks don't taste like anything. I'd go somewhere else for coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't go to Portland and not stop by Never. During my 4-day visit, I swung by the 12th Ave location. I like that location when I'm visiting, because it opens at 7 and I can head out my hotel to grab coffee and be back before most are awake. The Yuzu and Salt latte is my favorite but I had the Oregon this time around too, which had salted caramel. The hubby ordered the Midnight Oil which was a black licorice latte. I thought it was going to be gross, but it was quite good and something I'd order myself.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop in Portland. Love their cups too! If you love lattes with unique house made syrups, this is the spot for you. There are multiple locations and may have a different latte at some but not others which makes it worthwhile to visit them all at some point. Came here with 4 friends to tried them all one day and my favorite was the Holy Grail & Yuzu Salt. I've been recently trying to cut back on caffeine and ordered a decaf one...and the quality did not change. Just as delicious as the regular one with caffeine, and I was able to sleep after having it around 5pm. Thank goodness for amazing decaf lattes here.

Yelp
Such a colorful coffee shop! Immediately as you enter, the wall behind the counter catches your eye with the various splotches of color. The menu is also color coded to the colors on the wall. I love the artsy vibe here. We got the Yuzu & Salt and Hunny lattes. The lattes we ordered are written in yellow and blue colors on the menu and served in the respective colored mugs. The Hunny is more of a mocha but with floral notes. The Yuzu & Salt is my favorite because it has a hint of spice from the sansho pepper and the yuzu citrus compliments the espresso very well. Both coffees are such a treat and an experience to try, definitely worth it!

Yelp
this place must be called never coffee because the first time you go here you NEVER want to go back. bruh. it was literally mad depressing. for the price of $7 you gave us nothing. i ordered the pop which was supposed to have cherries and lime like it literally said that my matcha will have fruity taste??? but it tasted exactly like regular matcha i can make myself with literal costco matcha. like bro??? and you're charging $7 for this? what a scam. honestly. my friends ordered the hunny & oregon and they hated it too. like bro. do not advertise these "unique" flavors and not even follow through. 2 stars.
google avatar

Yelp
Vibrant and artsy spot in Portland with various coffee options to choose from. They also have custom gear options for purchase

Yelp
Came in to get some coffee early in the morning before we set out for our hike. This is a really cute little coffee shop with interesting specialty lattes. We got the Pop, which is a matcha, cherry and lime latte, and the Yuzu and Salt Latte. Wasn't sure how well matcha, cherry, and lime would go together, and it turns out they go really well together! The flavor was on the milder side, but it was really tasty. The yuzu and salt, however, was our favorite of the two drinks. It was the perfect way to start our morning. The service was extraordinary as well. They were quick and super friendly. One of our favorite coffee shops we tried.

Yelp
First time trying Never Coffee after doing some research and yuzu latte caught my eye. It was close to the hotel I stayed at in the pearl district, so I decided to enjoy a short walk and see what I can f . Located in downtown Portland and is a small coffee shop nearby Powell's City of Books and Blue Star Donuts! . It's spacious cafe enough for a coffee date or a study/work spot. Service was friendly and explained their coffees selections. This is a fun, colorful, and fantastic coffee shop conveniently located next to Dolly Olive . This cafe is colorful and cute, minimalistic, and cozy interior with limited seating. Place wasn't that busy on a Sunday morning around 10 AM, there were probably a total of 6-8 people in the entire coffee shop. . I had the yuzu salt latte (w almond milk). It was fragrant and slightly savory and kind of weird combo like oregon hehe. Yuzu & Salt latte was more on the bitter/tart side, but it would definitely be perfect for someone who enjoys a strong, bitter coffee taste. As a black coffee drinker, this drink was great because it wasn't sweet. The salt made the end notes more smooth. The yuzu was strong enough to taste but not overly powering. It was a one of a kind of latte I have tried, that you won't normally find. This is why it makes this coffee shop stand out for me and will come back and try other drinks. ($6 each with $1 extra for substituting soy milk). . Overall if you find this review helpful, follow for more. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day. Would definitely come back if ever in PDX again!!

Yelp
This was a first stop on my recent trip to Portland, and I enjoyed it very much, even though THEY DO NOT ACCEPT ANY CASH! (As a SoCal person, this was shocking to me, yet I get it: safety first - I think the area may have had a few issues a few years back? It was lovely now.) My group that I was with has many dietary restrictions, so I really liked that they didn't give us any hassle at all about bringing in our GF treats from a bakery x the street, to enjoy with our coffee. It was a great start to a very fun vaca. Would definitely return!

Yelp
OMG this place should be called " NEVER THIS COFFEE "! Talk about a way to ruin my morning was having a cup of coffee here. Ok, that may sound harsh but folks my coffee tasted like I imagined kerosine would taste and my lady friend puked her guts out after I delivered a cup to her. I literally scorched my taste buds with the horrible acidity taste this coffee emitted. Not sure how on earth you ruin a morning cup of coffee yet they have mastered this achievement ! As for the ambience of the location it's defiantly a hipster establishment with space decor but very pleasant. My barista was very helpful and added my sugar & cream. But he didn't warn me of the toxic waste I was being served. Oh well $6 spent and damaged taste buds along with upset lady friend thinking I was poisoning her, things could be worse. Pick your Java poison at your own risk.
google avatar

Beth L.

Yelp
Bartender at hotel recommended Never for a coffee drink. I ordered the Hunny and a cappuccino. Small cafe. Has a minimalist ambiance. I felt peaceful walking in. I chose the Hunny because it's a latte that you would night find anywhere else. Liked the creative drink choice. I picked it because of the dark chocolate! It's delicious. Customer service was outstanding.

Yelp
This is a fun, colorful, and fantastic coffee shop conveniently located next to Dolly Olive. In fact, Dolly recommended this place to us after our brunch. It's spacious enough for a coffee date or a study/work spot. Service was prompt and explained their specialty coffees. I went ahead and bought a bag of beans and it has been a treat to have every morning.
google avatar

Yelp
This coffee shop was on my list of places to visit. I loved the aesthetics and the decor of this entire place. (I'm also very biased towards the color pink...so...lol!) My partner and I both ordered the strawberry fields forever matcha latte with oat milk. This combination seems to be the trend of the summer. Unfortunately, I can't say the matcha was quality though. Being the matcha snob that I am, I can just tell if my matcha latte will be on point based off of its vibrancy. There was no grassy or earthy taste. I did appreciate the strawberry syrup though. I do love that they have unique items on their menu...like the yuzu and salt, and they have cute merchandise. I am in deep regret that I didn't purchase one of their ceramic mugs to bring back with me!
google avatar

Moryann N.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by on our last day in Portland before our flight super early. The young woman at the register was so kind and helpful when we were inquiring about the drinks. I was stuck between their Oregon coffee and Pop (matcha based drink with cherry lime syrup). I ended up getting Pop based on the recommendation from the cashier and it was wonderful! The matcha was light in flavor with a nice hint of the cherry lime flavoring. Not overpowering at all and complemented the matcha very well. I learned they make the cherry like syrup in house which 10/10! I was not a huge fan of the Yuzu Salt Latte, but my friend liked it! It's a cute and bright shop with a handful of seating and a great selection of merch! Great spot to drop by if you're in downtown.
google avatar

Mindy L.

Yelp
Cute little cafe. Our barista was so nice and made our drinks with extra love. Good branding & merch available too
google avatar

Dale D.

Yelp
Wonderfully colorful coffee shop. Signature drinks have amazing flavors. I tried both the Oregon and Midnight Oil. Oregon was great - caramel flavor was wonderful without being overly sweet. The Midnight Oil had a subtle anise and black licorice flavors. So unique and lovely. I'd recommend both! Street parking was no problem during the weekday. I did have an issue with the wifi and couldn't connect, but no one else in the cafe seemed to have an issue
google avatar

Annika P.

Yelp
My friend chose this coffee shop for us to try and we both really enjoyed our time at Never Coffee. The environment was chill and it was a great place to hang out and catch up. And all the staff were very friendly. We both had the yuzu & salt lattes and really enjoyed them. I was hesitant to order a drink that seemed so far from my usual iced latte, but I'm glad I did. There was the perfect amount of yuzu for me (not overpowering but definitely there), and the touch of salt brought out the flavors in a great way. I'm really glad we came here and glad I branched out too!
google avatar

Gloria T.

Yelp
I enjoy their specialty coffees and matcha latte. Cute vibe and decor. Both locations have good indoor and outdoor seating options. Great service!
google avatar

Lulu W.

Yelp
found this coffee shop while exploring and as a tourist to the area it's a Portland vibe... small coffee menu and I ventured to try one of the coffees I saw other yelpers post about... Presentation is def picture worthy, the taste wasn't overly sweet despite the description of celebrating the bee's honey... Service smooth, two guys running the bar and taking orders.. and still able to put out this beautiful coffee
google avatar

Justine D.

Yelp
Never Coffee really focuses on their specialty drinks and definitely does a good job with them. Bright lights welcome customers into the store, and there is relatively plentiful seating. Portland's coffee scene is really popping, so it is definitely difficult to stand out among the crowd, but their signature drinks are very different than other places, and a fun place to try out "fun drinks". We got a couple drinks to try, as well as a sampler bag of beans for our espresso at home. The drinks were not too sweet (which I think is often the pitfall of signature drinks), and also had some very interesting flavor combinations. The espresso bean sampler pack is relatively cheap, and allowed us to try out different blends that they have in the shop. Although I am a bigger fan of single origin, lighter roast beans, it was fun to try out different cups with their slightly darker blends.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
Never Coffee is a pretty cool coffee shop! They have a lot of unique lattes. I got the pop which was a matcha latte with cherry and lime flavors. I wasn't sure if the flavor combination would work but I really liked it. The shop is a bright modern space as well. I didn't get one but the cookies they had looked delicious. Overall, it's a good spot to visit.
google avatar

Helen J.

Yelp
Super cute place, has great vibes. Some unique flavors, I got to try hunny and yuzu & salt. They both taste good, great place to relax at if you like to chill at cafes with a nice aesthetic. Worker is very friendly! Not to mention the latte art is also cute. Please note that I am not a coffee snob and don't drink coffee regularly, so if your looking for a review from an expert, I am not that. But I felt like I liked my experience overall.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
If you're looking for a unique coffee experience, Never Coffee is a must-try! In addition to the bright and cheerful interior, what stood out is the menu of unique and intriguing latte flavors. Never Coffee offers their own custom latte flavors that are unlike anything I've tasted before; I tried the Oregon, which had hints of salted caramel and carrot. I also tried a sip of my mom's Midnight Oil latte, which tasted strongly of black licorice. (Note: Never Coffee sells more traditional coffee and tea beverages as well.) The flavor profile of my latte was complex and unexpected, and I'd be curious to try the other flavors. Given that there are so many coffee shops in Portland, I commend Never Coffee for setting themselves apart with their one-of-a-kind menu.
google avatar

Winnie C.

Yelp
My friend and I ordered Yuzu+Salt Special Latte and Vanilla Latte. Both were delicious. Great atmosphere, and staff was very friendly. I'd recommend this place. P.S. Street parking in downtown can be tricky though, so plan extra times to look for parking.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
We all enjoyed our drinks and would I recommend enjoying it there if getting a specialty drink. I got the Yuzu and Salt which was tasty however didn't think the sansho pepper worked all that well in it as that can easily overpower it along with the next ten sips or until the tingling from your lips wears off. Enjoyed it and might try their other specialty drinks but 7 bucks still felt a bit too high. The environment is nice and bright with comfortable room between tables. I was pleasantly surprised with the space not being too noisy even with the hard surfaces.
google avatar

Anil S.

Yelp
So far, the best coffee I've had in Portland. The drip coffee is amazing. It's never bitter and always rich tasting. I would highly, highly recommend it. In addition, the service is really good. The staff is friendly and always willing to give a great recommendation.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Perfect little spot to sip delicious coffee and get some work done. It's in the Pearl so parking is metered, but if you live nearby it's a great spot to relax with gorgeous lighting hitting in the early morning hours. Their drinks are unique, and also unique to their location. My absolute fave is the Yuzu which has this herbal powder on top that leaves your senses tingling and wanting more. At first I will say I was concerned I was having an anaphylactic reaction, but after I asked the barista and realized it was a normal reaction it was more pleasant to sit with. I do recommend it with oat or whole milk, coconut milk feels like it overpowers the beverage. They also have little to-go options. Love this option iced or hot. I usually order it hot, and if I can't finish it I ask for a few cubes of ice to take on the road.
google avatar

Shania S.

Yelp
just got a plain iced matcha latte and it was good! just regular schmegular degular. cute small place inside, friendly staff. def recommend for a quick coffee run
google avatar

Kimberly P.

Yelp
A cute location & their staff is friendly, but their drinks aren't anything special. I ordered the POP matcha & it just tasted like basic matcha, no other flavor at all. The matcha was good but I expected the other flavors from the description. So I was a bit disappointed
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
Squarely in the middle for us. Is it a cute coffee shop? Yes. Staff? Nice Coffee taste? hmmmm. We got the "Oregon" and the "Yuzu & Salt". The good: I liked the Yuzu and Salt. It had a strange flavor, but good. And the salt was really the element that brought it all together. The meh: The Oregon was ok and looked nice but was pretty basic. Not terrible and not great. Might go back next time to try the other flavors.

Yelp
WOW, TOTALLY LOVE THIS SPOT!! Came here with my sis for our trip out to OR. Found this pace from yelp from other reviewers and had to stop by for their cool drink options and choices! I had the hazlenut coffee and she had the matcha late. Both were delish and very flavorful and tasty! We loved the cute decor inside and the superb stellar service from the girls inside the store as well. DEF can say we are a fan of the spot and cant wait to come back on our next visit!
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
I came here to chill a bit before my flight home and had a nice lattee while doing some sudoku. The latte was ok, nothing special, but the ambiance here definitely makes this place worth a visit :--)
google avatar

Anusha G.

Yelp
The baristas here were very kind as I asked what I should get as I was new to the cafe. They recommended the custom flavors of lattes they had. I tried the Oregon flavor and really enjoyed it. If you are fan of nuanced coffee flavors without adding too much sweetness this is the place for you. The interior is also gorgeous. It decorated with colour and some increíble tufted fun art on the walls. It's definitely a great place to catch up with friends.
google avatar

Laeri A.

Yelp
Cute ambiance, quick service, friendly employees, delicious coffee. I love this place! My go-to coffee spot for before work. Leaves me feeling caffeinated asf.
google avatar

Kyle P.

Yelp
Have you never been to never coffee? You should change that. Never coffee is a gold mine of interesting flavors. My wife and I are always looking for seasonal specials at our favorite shops that still promise a quality cup of coffee and espresso. This place just has killer flavors all the time. It's awesome. We love it. Wish we discovered it sooner!
google avatar

Eva G.

Yelp
Dropped by after my lunch to enjoy a hot matcha latte. It was smooth and creamy. I also purchased a matcha cookie and chocolate chip cookie to bring back to California. Cookies were very good. Would definitely return to this shop and try out other drinks on the menu.

Yelp
Solid no frills neighborhood vibey coffee shop They got the basics covered, plus beans you can take home and bonus points for on display local artist decor you can buy Service was quick and barista friendly - good spot to grab a quick pick me up on your way in/out of pearl
google avatar

Carissa C.

Yelp
friendly staff, very vibey, and matcha was solid compared to neighboring coffee shops.
