New York's Most Famous Hotel Rises Again

"A historic restaurant first opened in 1930, still showcasing its long windmill mural and Spanish menu; demand runs high on weekend nights, so locals will want reservations, but hotel guests have priority access to a few set-aside tables." - The MICHELIN Guide

Google
Wow, this place rocks! It feels super local and has a bunch of variety for food and deserts. Absolutely loved the vibe.

Google
Don’t take it for granted, but the sign may throw you off since it looks old. As soon as we stepped in and looked through the menu. We decided to order some tacos and a burrito. It was delicious and perfectly made. I’m coming back for sure and inviting more family to come try this out. Don’t forget the natural juices they are amazing.

Google
I’ve been going to this location for years and I am always happy with the service and food . I continue driving over 15 minutes because they have the best antojitos in the southeast area. The prices are reasonable. I love the tacos dorados and ivanazos.

Google
Is not the same no more, we asked for a nanche water and carne seca preparada and it did not hit the spot like previous times, something was off

Google

Google
Visited for the first time, and was not disappointed. We received a great service and a great product in return for our money. Frankly surprised by how slow their business was, considering how good everything is. Fruit tray- Huge variety of fruit; Pineapple, Watermelon, Kiwi, Jicama, Dragonfruit, Mango, Cantaloupe, all topped with chamoy and tajin and garnished beautifully with distinct gummies and Mexican candy 10/10.

Google
Takes a long time to get your food don’t go to your car and wait for the order like they order you because. The waiter walks so slow and it takes him a long time to dispatch your order it took 45 min before we got ours and place was empty

Yelp
Tiny little place. 3 tables inside and lots more outside on patio. First, they have great fruit cocktails BYOB and bowls/cups. Tons of fun options. We saw a shrimp michelada that was epic. I don't drink anymore but I was tempted after seeing that concoction!! Great ice cream too! But they have a full food menu too! And the food is really good. Seriously. We had tacos and street corn. Both excellent. The kids split a regular hamburger and loved that too. The guy taking orders was very patient and accommodating. And we are not Spanish speakers so we needed help deciphering the menu. He was great. Overall a cute fun place with good quality food. Full order of tacos is 5 or you can order individually for $1.75 each. The cons are: they were busy and service was a bit slow. It was a little warm in the dining area. And the menu is not easy to read. Hamburger was a little expensive. But it fed two little kids.

Yelp
Authentic street tacos are to be found in lil gem of a place. We were visiting for a day and were happy to have found this place. Good portions, great food and friendly staff. Definitely recommend it!

Yelp
Food was fresh and very tasty. The tostadas were so crispy and the chicken nice and juicy. The corn was to die for, they don't skimp on toppings. I had an Ivanvazoo and it changed my life... never tasted anything like it. Again super fresh. I live on the other side of town but will make the drive for this place.

Yelp
Amazing! Very authentic gem. There is outdoor and indoor seating. Plenty of food options and snacks. My wife and I had the Al Pastor and Fajita tacos. They accommodate taco portions to kids sizes. We finished off with a tangy, zesty mangonada. Prices are really reasonable. A must try! We will definitely come back.

Yelp
I had never heard of this place until I saw it. Decided to drive in and boy was I in for a treat! The food and the menu is OUTSTANDING! I got a "chicharrón" and a torra cubana. Good was awesome!! The price is worth it as well because each serving is like for two people. I recommend this to anyone that loves good authentic Mexican food!

Yelp
Not too shabby, I was surprised that the corn on a cob disappointed, tasted too dull, I've had better corn on a cob outside our local HEB, if you do order the corn on a cob make sure you order it with chili powder, taste slightly better and it gives it a lime-ey flavor to it. The horchata was above average and what really surprised me was the Fresonada it's pretty much shaved ice (strawberry flavored) with strawberry slices on top of that AND with chamoy sauce on it along side with a mexican candy "straw". Satisfied my tastebuds, and really made me give this place the three stars it earned. I wouldn't recommend sitting outside because there are a couple roaches roaming around the property, also parking is really tight.

Yelp
Good food and all but be ready to wait a long time even if there's no one else ordering before or after

Yelp
First time I got a sandia preparada it was sooo good the sandía wasn't too sweet like I would of preferred but it was good. They have different things like corn and nachos , give them a try

Yelp
Omg! A little gem in the hood. This place is a little hole in the wall treasure. Authentic Mexican shakes, corn in the cup, and food! Everything is made fresh and the drinks are enormous!

Yelp
This place surprised me! The sope was delicious, chicken was cooked very well and the toppings wer fresh. The horchata was sweet enough and it had strawberries in it, I've never had it like that and now I don't know how I've gone without strawberries in it. I will definitely be going back. Service was friendly and fast. I took longer getting there than what they took to make my lunch.

Yelp
So many times have I passed by this place and never stopped, glad I finally did. This place has great typical Mexican street style food. You can bring your own beer and try the various different michelada mixes they offer. I will definitely become a regular at this place.

Yelp
This place surprised the hell out of me. Don't be discouraged by the area this is located. With all of houston's strict zoning laws you'd think that this place wouldn't be located in what seems to be chop-shop central in Houston. But being how the zoning laws actually are, I guess it's okay. You walk inside to a glimpse into little Mexico. It's simple, the menu is laid out in the best way, and you have a picture of just about everything they have to offer. I had breakfast tacos and an horchata (milk rice and cinnamon drink that is very common in mexican cuisine). The tacos were good. The eggs were cooked perfectly as was the bacon it just lacked seasoning and I really wish they had bigger portions. The horchata gets a whole paragraph to itself. The drink comes in a transparent, plastic to-go cup and is dressed to the T with just enough ice, a few fresh strawberries, and cinnamon sprinkled along the rim and over the top of the drink. This was just enough cinnamon to bring out the best taste in the drink and not enough to overpower it. Perfection-hands down the best horchata I have ever had. If I had my way and money I would try just about everything on their menu and give better feedback but I would be lying if I didn't say that it made me want it all. I can't even argue a high price. Even though there's probably cheaper alternatives parked in gas stations along main roads scattered across town, I don't think they match this place. It's just not fathomable. Tl;dr Missing a star for basic/small breakfast tacos. Definitely a recommendation for refreshments and any other snack you could ever dream of having. Yes, even Frito Pies and Hot Cheetos and cheese.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food, raspas, and preparadas.... So good its small but will worth the trip....

Jemina P.

Yelp
Their drinks are really good and it's air conditioned!! They have a lot of food and drink options. Good service!
google avatar

Kira P.

Yelp
The food was really good and tons of different rapas to choose from. If you order the Mexicano Nachos it comes without meat.

Yelp
Has some rude women taking orders, giving people attitudes. Other than that food was ok

Yelp
The food is 5 stars. There is nothing I have tried at El Quijote that I do not like, especially with the reasonable prices. However, many times, I have pre-ordered take-out with an estimated wait of 15 minutes, and when I have gotten there, I have had to wait like 15 minutes more. They can take ridiculously long sometimes, but when it comes down to it, it's pretty worth it.

Yelp
Neveria & Taqueria El Quijote has been a go-to spot for my family and me when we need a snack or have a sweet tooth. The person who introduced me to this spot was my older brother. According to my brother, one of his closest friend's mom started up the business. The small business was opened in a smart location, I live by Telephone Rd. and there are a lot of hard work labor businesses nearby. The community is mostly Hispanic/Latin people especially when it comes to the workers in the area. Neveria & Taqueria El Quijote is within a good walking distance from the labor businesses and even the nearby houses in the neighborhoods. You can see a lot of people stopping by and picking up their sweets and food during lunch break. A couple of times my sister and I will walk the neighborhood just to make a stop to get our favorite snacks. Each time we do we end up making sure to bring food for-family members back home. I know there are many small businesses out there that could have offered the same menu, but the flavor is what makes this place count. This place has a variety of flavors and even offers Mexican food like tacos and quesadillas. My go-to snack is the "Fresas con Crema" which translates to "Strawberries and Cream" because it reminds me of my childhood in a way. Keep in mind I have a huge sweet tooth so my taste buds may differ from most people when it comes to sweets but the strawberries and cream are a great choice. The way they give it to you is in a cup they mix it up that looks like a smoothie at first till you notice that they give you a spoon to get all the strawberries out from the cup. Even the cream they mix in with the strawberries tastes great and has a pink shade to it and, the whipped cream they top it off with just makes it better. Another menu item that is a good choice would be the "Mangonada" and, there is no translation to that in English. It is a mango slushy that contains real fruit pieces such as pineapple and mango with red sauce and Tajin to top it all off. The customer service is very fast-paced, and they can accommodate your requests if you want to make any changes to the item you are ordering. Ever since the pandemic has happened their precautions have been very effective. They require every customer to wear masks when placing their order inside and, keep a good distance between each client and, the seating area is a great help if there is a line. Once they get your order, they will tell you to leave a description of your car and to wait in your vehicle while your order is being made. Once your order has been finished, they will have someone walk your order to your car window and, from there you get to enjoy and savor each moment.

Yelp
Down the street and everything on the menu is delish! Don't expect high fancy and it's somewhat outside dining. The parking isn't great either but you'll enjoy everything on the menu.

Mari A.

Yelp
Good packed street tacos! 5 came out to $7. Lots of dessert drinks, raspas, etc too. Small space for seating and parking.
