Yelp
Nevski was great! I had it on my list as a top place to visit when my friends and I went to Montréal for vacation, but I almost didn't make it. I'm so glad we adventured out on our last night in town and had dinner here. It lived up to the hype in my head.
I am a Russia & Eastern Europe nerd. I like a lot of the cultures, the cuisines, and the kitschyness of it that can be played up. This bar seemed to be a hidden gem for me.
Our server was Daniya and she was very nice and helpful. She mostly left us alone but came around at just the right time to get us anything we needed. And the decor is to die for. It's fun and artsy, moody, and a mix of modern and nostalgia. I would have loved to have purchased some of their merch, but most items seemed to be for men and wouldn't have been very flattering. I hope they will consider getting some more unisex and/or ladies' cuts.
The main reason I came was to try the Lamb Pelmeni (Pelmeni L'Agneau) and the Khachapuri (Cheeseboat - Original). Neither dissapointed and my friends really enjoyed trying those dishes. We got a round of drinks and I had the Morse Code (Moskovskaya Vodka, Rose Hips & Berries, Tea, Lemon, Blackcurrant Syrup and Soda), which was really lovely. One my family names is Morse, so I had to!
My total was $61.05 CAD (with a tip added), which is about $45 USD. I think that was reasonable for a trip meal with an appetizer (shared), and entree and a signature cocktail at a semi-upscale kind of place.
