Bourdain had: Beer and lunch. Lunch dates: Femi Kuti and Seun Kuti, both musicians, and Yeni Kuti, the owner of New Afrika Shrine—all are children of Afrobeat lengend Fela Kuti.

This was the most beautiful live show I've ever been to. The co ordination of the lights, the dancers, the band...it was all perfection. I can't wait for my next visit to lagos, I need to experience this again. The ambience is just great

While I enjoyed my time here, I was a little bit disappointed 😞. All my life I had wanted to visit the Afrika Shrine, my dad talked a lot about fela and the shrine and how crazy it gets. The people, the smoke, the music - a total package everybody should experience at least once in their lifetime. In my head, I was hoping to see things, you know arts, statues etc - things that take me to the past, tell a little history of the place, Fela and the kalakuta republic. A little museum won't hurt 😂 Anyway, it turns out to be smaller than imagined, too tightly packed and I wonder how they managed to fit in that large crowd I see on TV during Felabration in such a small place. I guess I'd find out during the next Felebration. Anyway, I enjoyed myself. Had a few drinks, some smoke and the music. Seun Kuti is a master, I love what Femi did and Made Kuti, the Fela legacy is safe in his hands. I couldn't take any photos with them and yea, Vector the viper came to perform too. Apart from the environment that I think could have been better and modernized, the experience was 8.2/10 and the music is 10/10. I am definitely visiting again.

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the New Afrika Shrine on a Wednesday afternoon. The best part? We just walked in and there was no entry fee! The atmosphere was electric, with the band playing and practicing. It was like stepping into a piece of history. I felt incredibly safe and welcomed, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. We even sat down for a drink and soaked up the vibe. I can't wait to come back with friends one evening without the kids to fully immerse myself in the music and energy. If you're looking for an authentic and vibrant experience in Lagos, I highly recommend visiting the New Afrika Shrine. It's a must-see!

Well I haven’t been here since 2007 and Femi was still able to bring the roof down as usual. It kinda reminded me of my UNI days when I used to come here. Think I’ll visit more often now and it seems pretty organized as well

I personally like it, it’s laid back, with a traditional feel, the jazz music is loud enough to drown out any negative thoughts, and you can get food, beer, anything you need to chill and unwind from different vendors at affordable prices. The waiters were very responsive too.
