New Bahru is that fresh lifestyle hub where old-school Singapore architecture gets a cool new lease on life. Housed in the lovingly restored former Nan Chiau High School, this River Valley destination somehow feels like you’re wandering through a creative playground more than a typical mall — think corridors with character, leafy courtyards, and independent brands beckoning you to explore.
The mix here is the charm. It’s not about big chain stores — you’ll find quirky retail like plant studios, leather-craft workshops, artisanal home goods, and indie fashion labels that make for fun browsing. Foodies aren’t left out either: from elevated Sri Lankan fare and reinvented Middle Eastern plates to speciality cafés and contemporary seafood spots, there’s enough variety to keep a weekend foodie happy.
Relaxed and creative vibes, with pops of pet-friendly spaces and kid-centric zones that make it feel more like a community hangout than a mall. But heads up — it’s a bit tucked away, so traffic and parking can be a thing on weekends.
