The Guide to Eating and Drinking on 4/20 | Eater Denver

"A big Colorado brewery is now dabbling in the hops and hemp arena. New Belgium recently introduced their “Hemperor HPA” as a year-round offering. While this IPA does not contain any THC or CBD, its essence and flavors are derived from the aromas and tastes of hemp, which the New Belgium team says delivers that “certain something.”" - Nisa Sedaghat

Just a short walk from the middle of Old Town, New Belgium Brewery is worth the trip. Whether you are a fan of Fat Tire or just like to try some new beer varieties, there is something for everyone here. The large, open, outside area is an awesome place to sit and enjoy the wonderful Colorado climate and delicious beers. There was a food truck for snacking and plenty of NB paraphernalia in the gift shop.

I had the pleasure of visiting New Belgium Brewery in Fort Collins with my daughter, my partner, and her family — and let me just say, this place exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was electric but relaxed. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and impressively knowledgeable about the beers, which made the whole tasting experience even more enjoyable. We started off with a couple of flights to get a sense of the variety, and it was hard to pick a favorite — they were that good. But once I did, I stuck with a few pours of my top picks, and every sip was a reminder of how expertly crafted their beer is. There was a Mexican food truck on-site that seriously blew us away. The food was fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the beers. The indoor space was welcoming and full of energy, but it’s the outdoor area that really shines — wide open, dog-friendly, and full of life with kids running around, families laughing, and groups just enjoying the day. It felt like the backyard party you always want to be invited to. This wasn’t just a trip to a brewery — it was an experience. One of those rare places that nails everything: the beer, the food, the vibe, the people, the setting. I’d come back in a heartbeat, and I’ll be telling everyone I know to make the trip. New Belgium, you’ve got something special going on. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing.

Google
We went to this brewery while doing a roadtrip. We did a tour with Cynthia. It was perfect ! We absolutely loved the tour ! Very interesting and fun. I love that you get to see from the beginning to the very end of the process. We stayed after to enjoy a beer. Cynthia was very nice ! The outside area is very nice and the beers are very good ! Definitely would recommend. We even left with suggestions of what to do in Fort Collins ! Would defintely recommend to visit this place and take the tour !

Google
I went on this beer tour in 2022 and was so impressed that I brought a bachelor party back here in 2025. The space is beautiful, the tour is interesting (though hot for the first section, so be prepared), and for your money you get a lot of delicious beer. If you’re interested in beer or how anything is made, it’s a don’t miss. Make sure to buy tickets well in advance - they sell out fast.

Had a great time! This place is an absolute go-to when visiting Fort Collins. Enjoyed some great beers during the tour. Shout out to our guide, Ramone!

Google
Hands down one of our favorite breweries in Asheville! You cannot go wrong with their large beer assortment. If you don’t like beer, try one of the sours or Fruit Smash Hard Seltzer. They almost always have a food truck & they offer Poppy Popcorn(local business) for sale at the counter. You can also bring your own snacks! There are many outdoor areas to choose from, some of which are covered. They are completely family & dog friendly! Just love NB for every reason!

Google
This brewery has one of the nicer outside spaces; it is very open and vast. I never felt like I was sitting on top of anyone . The beer selection was great and the flights were super smooth. Overall it was a great time and I’ll definitely be back!

Google
We did the 90 minute tour today and had the best time! Our tour guide, Kyle, was fabulous! He was funny, informative and kind. I learned so much and sampled many kinds of beer. Such a cool place and everything was reasonably priced.

Yelp
Cool place to hang out on a nice day. We enjoyed some 1554 dark ales and grabbed a six pack to go. Some seating inside, but we sat out on a nice day.

Yelp
Updated review: this was my third of fourth time here and I feel like the staff are less friendly and customer focused. I came on a weekday so they weren't busy; staff were ignoring me because they were chatting or playing on their phones. I'm fine with that if there's no one there or whatever but it felt very dismissive. The beer is less good, and they haven't updated their selection (at least not sours or "fruit" beers) since last year when I came. Also the sours aren't really sour at all. Staff aren't as friendly either. It's a bummer because I've loved this place since the first time I came.

Yelp
New Belgium in Fort Collins is a must stop when in Foco! I've visited the Asheville location, which is awesome, but this one sets the bar for what a brewery should be. We did the tour, and it's very engaging and kid friendly. The best part is you get to pour your own beer! There's also a surprise at the end - but I won't ruin it for you. Check out my photos if you need to know. The employees are friendly and very enthusiastic about the beer. The beer is awesome - but that's a given. The yard is a great place to relax and enjoy a sunny day. I wish there were more yard games and things to do like in Asheville, but it's a good time nonetheless. The food trucks were on point when we visited also. All in all, an amazing time!

Yelp
We were in town and out hosts wanted to take us on the tour here so off we went. We met up in the front area with our fellow tour participants. All the employees were super friendly. It was interesting to see the facility & processes while learning the intricacies and history of the brewery. The guide kept it light and funny. I'm not a big beer drinker but I enjoyed tasting the various offerings. Waking through the oak casks, and production areas was also a neat experience. At the end we were offered a coupon to redeem for a beverage of our choice. I chose the black cherry soda which was great and my friends all chose different beers or sours. They also had a food truck which looked good, but there was no seating left so we didn't eat there. It's a great way to kill a good portion of a cold and blustery day

Yelp
The beer mecca A magical experience, voodoo and sour options for days ! I highly recommend the tour. It is free for 45 minutes or $10 for 90 minutes. Either way you're going to have a good time and hazy memories.

Yelp
We picked up some burritos and wanted to go to a brewery for dinner. When in Fort Collins, New Belgium should be a destination. We drive a hybrid that needed some juice and they have two plugs available. We plugged in, grabbed our bag of dinner and went looking for some beverages. This happen to be an evening when there was live music out on the lawn and the majority of folks were gathered there. We headed inside and found a couple spots at the bar. We each got a flight. I went for the VooDoo Ranger flight and my hubby got a variety of sours. VooDoo Ranger Juice Force was so good, we got a six pack to bring home. We sat and enjoyed our brews and burritos while chatting the beertender behind the bar. I know this scenario will repeat itself. It is just a matter of when.

Yelp
I have done this tour about half a dozen times and feel like it is the best brewery tour in the Denver metro area. So when a friend was coming in from Scotland I decided to take her on the New Belgium Tour and then brewery hop around the area. We arrived 15 minutes early like they requested. Then we were told everyone had to have closed toe shoes. This is the first time this has ever been brought up and my friend, all the way from Scotland, was wearing sandals. They would not allow her to go on the tour unless she changed her shoes. Nowhere on the ticket or emails said anything about this leading up to it and we had just driven from Aurora to go on this tour. They offered us to go to Walmart nearby and purchase shoes and miss the first part of the tour. She decided to hang around the patio and wait while the rest of us took the tour. Once we went through it we found that the closed toe shoe part is one tiny piece of the tour that she could have skipped and still seen the rest. So sad to see her miss out on this based on something that could have been avoided in the beginning. They should include this information with the tickets or confirmation email. Other than that, I do love this tour and love their beers. The patio is always lively and a great place to people watch.

Yelp
We came here Everytime when we visited FC . That's the first time ever we do the beer tour . Was great ! Outdoor is super nice . At the tour , V was super nice . After the whole tour I want to work at the brewery now lol

Eric B.

Yelp
My wife and I had an amazing tour with Avery! Lots of insider knowledge you wouldn't read in a beer magazine. There were plenty of opportunities to drink beer on the tour, well worth the price of admission!
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect small batch autumn flavors! I appreciated the help and samples to find my favorite flavor!

Yelp
What a brewery! We did the tour which books up fast and is so worth it! They took us around the entire factory and it was so fun seeing how beer was made and interacting with the fun elements of the tour. They gave plenty of samples and even some fresh ones right out of packaging. Everyone was so nice and happy and the story is so awesome. The entire campus is massive and they have food trucks and a lovely courtyard outside to hang out in as well.
google avatar

Yelp
My second time visiting this great facility! A massive facility with lots of seating inside and multiple outside areas for seating, plus a stage outside for bands. They offer fun and informative brewery tours and a great selection of beers on draft and to go in cans and bottles. There's also a lot of merchandise available for sale. We walked in a it took us a minute to decide on a flight of beer but when we saw the special listings (the brewery only stuff, the experimental stuff, the stuff that doesn't get canned or distributed) we had to try those. Our bartender was great and the beer's fantastic as always. We would definitely visit again.

Yelp
Loved this space for so many reasons! The outdoor areas offer a fantastic place for family including dogs; an outdoor stage for performances, fireplaces to sit by on colder days, and an all-around inviting atmosphere. The inside has a large bar with seating , a souvenir shop, and a seating area with tables if you'd prefer to sit inside. The customer service was spot on, served with a friendly smile from all staff members. So glad we had the opportunity to visit; it is definitely worth the stop if you're in the area!

Yelp
Finally made it up to Fort Collins and New Belgium was first on the list! The brewery tour was fantastic and did not disappoint. Eric, our guide, was knowledgeable, relatable, and a great story teller for our small group. I learned so much in those 90 minutes and also tried way more beer than I was expecting for a $10 admission price. Such a fun evening, totally recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Great brewery! New Belgium is definitely one of our favorites in all of CO. It has such a nice atmosphere - cool & casual with plenty of room to hang with friends for the day. I love the big turf area with cornhole (although I do wish there were more chairs). The beer selection is great especially if you like IPA's as they have quite an extensive list. I personally really like the honey orange tripel & the 1554. Both are smooth & delicious. They don't serve food, but they do have a nice selection of food trucks parked on property. Also there's plenty of parking across the road and bike stands inside if you ride there.
google avatar

Cynthia V.

Yelp
I was very impressed with the grounds and facility here - this is a perfect place to spend a lovely, sunny Colorado afternoon! They had mini golf out in the courtyard when we were there, plus a food truck. Lots of open outdoor seating. Tours are available but book up fast, so recommend reserving in advance to ensure you get to go (if you want). Otherwise, grab a drink and enjoy the grounds!

K H.

Yelp
Love the huge outdoor space! Family and pet friendly. Our kids had a ball Playing around on the grass turf and we enjoyed a nice relaxing evening as a family. Beers and seltzers are tasty as well, which is a no brainer. :)
google avatar

Rebekah C.

Yelp
New Belgium tour guide Ramon will make your day! He knows .... A LOT of stuff about beer and other stuff
google avatar

K T.

Yelp
Sad that people find it necessary to get rid of their past. Its definitely ok to make new things. But just like New Castle did before, yall now have your new beer. Just like the new New Castle, it is nothing special and taste like many other brews on the market. Its incredible that yall would out all the long time fans in search of your new ones. Why not make both beers if you really think so many people were looking for a different Fat Tire.
google avatar

Rayce M.

Yelp
One of the best and most affordable brewery tours I've been on! Must try if you're visiting Fort Collins.
google avatar

Dylan R.

Yelp
This is strictly for the beer tour. Amanda made the whole experience amazing! Getting to learn the history of the brewery, a little about the process as well as beers along the way was fantastic! It's really great to see that despite their growth, they're still about their people. Happy workers make great beer! Will definitely come back again and again!
google avatar

Emerine C.

Yelp
Awesome brewery with a beautiful outdoors space to relax, play games, and look at all the dogs people bring with them! The beers we tried and fruit smash seltzers were great and reasonably priced. They do give tastes if you want to try something before committing. Servers were friendly and I didn't feel rushed to order. They also have different food trucks every day! When we went they had a mac n cheese truck.
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
Fun place to hang out with all ages. Great beer and service. Food trucks available to get snacks!
google avatar

Beth C.

Yelp
New Belgium has blown up since our last visit! This visit we enjoyed sitting outside with our dog. Dogs are so very loved in Fort Collins, and accepted everywhere. The place was packed, it was the day before the 4th of July and it was hot so everyone was trying to sit along the perimeter of the grass in the shade, or inside! There were 2 food carts parked on site featuring tacos and nachos, or burgers/hot dogs. We selected the Dominga Mimosa sour to drink and it was delish! Our kiddo had a nice cold bottle of root beer and plenty of room to run around.
google avatar

Kristi M.

Yelp
I've been here many, many times over the years and each time is somehow better than the last. This was my second time doing the tour. The first was pre-pandemic and now post. They are both a blast. The tour guide does a great job keeping everyone engaged. You learn so much cool stuff and get a chance to taste so many delish beers. You can't have a bad time here! It's a great way to spend the afternoon.
google avatar

Virna L.

Yelp
Love this place, friendly atmosphere, even got free fries, beer samples galore until you've decided what you want. Servers are hustling and very efficient. They were busy but will check on you if you're good. With the number of choices available, they will make you taste whatever you want to try and explain the intricacies of the various flavors they have. Will I go back? DEFINITELY! Parking may be a challenge on some nights. We came by on a Sunday late afternoon and found street parking closer to the entrance. We lucked out. :)
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
Food: there was a food truck onsite, but didn't try it. Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Beer: 5/5 Tour: 5/5 I took the tour and it was great. I've been on many brewery tours and this is the first time I got to pour my own beer! It's a small thing, but super fun. Not to mention they were generous with samples and pours. Staff was incredibly friendly. Smiles all around. Could not have made me feel more welcome. The tour guide mentioned they are offering tours in ASL and Spanish. Definitely got the vibe that this is an inclusivity-minded business. Enjoyed all the beers I tried, even the sour (which I'm not usually a fan of). Grounds are lovely and fun-spirited. Worth checking out!

Tom M.

Yelp
Very cool place, loved the historic and laid back vibe. Beer way very good. Also, this town is a hidden gem. Can't believe I've been to Colorado so many times and never once visited here until recently. Best city in Colorado by far.
google avatar

Elisa F.

Yelp
So excited we go to visit here on our trip to Denver! Didn't even realize New Belgium was started in Fort Collins before we stopped in. Fat Tire was one of the first craft beers I got into when I started drinking! We ordered a flight and tried some different beers, including some new sours I've never had! This space is huge with tons of outdoor space. And VERY dog friendly! They offer free 45-minute mini tours and a full 90-minute tour for $10. Wish we had more time to do one of these! Definitely a must stop if you're in the area!
google avatar

Julian S.

Yelp
Great Beer, food truck, live music, kids and dogs playing entertaining and lively. At times meet people from all over the country or world, interesting conversations. Good service too! Money and evening well spent!
google avatar

Patti K.

Yelp
We took a tour here at New Belgium Brewery. Our tour guide was interesting, engaging and loads of fun! The brewery is quite large compared to the many other breweries in Colorado and lovely to boot! Lots of artwork. Various tastings along the way. There are stairs involved with the tour, walkways are clean and clear. The company is one that celebrates their employees. People tend to stay with them due to this fact. In todays world, this is an exceptional quality for a company. After the tour we enjoyed a veggie pizza on the patio. Thin crust and delicious! Whether you are a craft beer person or not, the tour is interesting and fun. The food was great. The gift shop is chucked full of interesting and humorous gift and trinkets. Great way to spend the afternoon!
google avatar

Ali F.

Yelp
I have been to New Belgium twice in my life, and both times went on the 90 minute tour and also spent some time in the tap room and lawn. Both times were absolutely fabulous! The tour guides are so friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. Everyone at the tap house is friendly and the vibe is just so fun! Prices are very reasonable for flights and they will let you try just about anything! They even have a decent NA selection of sodas and juices which I appreciate. The friendliness here was definitely appreciated after our first stop of the day at Odell, which had surly, angry people working. Nice change! Unfortunately it is located in Fort Collins, which is not my favorite place, but it's definitely worth a trip from Denver- just stick to breweries rather than do anything else.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Great brewery tour and it's free. Includes a sampling of beer. Fair draft beer prices. They also serve food which I haven't tried yet. Family friendly.
google avatar

Vincent T.

Yelp
This was my second visit to the brewery, I am a long time drinker of all the brews that are made from here. My first visit back in August was outstanding, the staff was welcoming and extremely efficient serving despite being busy. We were able to walk up to the bar and be helped. Today was the opposite, the bartender was extremely rude, and acted as if we were a burden for her. Two takeaways for this is that if there is a tasting at the bar, maybe you should put a sign up so others see that and not wait there for service and not even get a greeting. The other thing is put up another sign that says order here. Your bartender told me she's not walking back and forth to take orders on the other end of the bar (despite her walking past filling orders multiple times) could have mentioned that she could take our order "over there". Something beneficial for better service is having knowledge of the product you serve not only in your brewery, but other brewery's in the area, ie; N/A beer. All she knew was you had a few, not on tap, but in a can. I simply wanted to know who made them and if she knew any other brewer in the area might have them on tap? Her answer was " I'm just a bartender". Unfortunately we decided to take our business elsewhere as I didn't want to order something I may have not liked, and pay a tip to a rude bartender.
google avatar

Royce I.

Yelp
This is a really cool place to visit with great beers. They have a great outdoor space to hang and a comfortable indoor space as well. Multiple bars with good service if they are busy. Try the tour at least once, it's worth it just for the beer. The tour guide the last couple times has been kinda lame so hopefully they will invest in some changes there.
google avatar

Enit S.

Yelp
Outstanding brewery. Great selection on tap and great prices. I really like that you can start out by ordering 5 oz so if gives you opportunity to try various brews. Their outdoor seating and really nice, especially sitting around the firepit during the cold weather. There was a small macaroni and cheese truck outside where you could buy a few items to snack on with your drink. Take advantage while you're there to buy some merch too. Their BBQ sauce is really good! Would definitely visit again.

Charles J.

Yelp
We always enjoy returning to the home of Fat Tire (my wife's favorite). My favorite NB beer is Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA. We went on a week day so it wasn't too busy but that also meant there wasn't any live music. The staff were friendly. The patio area was great for a few beers and conversation.

Pete W.

Yelp
A masterclass by Kirin Brewing on how to kill a culture that used to make great beer. Now, the beer is watered down and nothing special compared to what it used to be. The spirit is no where near the same at the brewery and O'dell is a much better place to go to experience a true local brewery that still has spirit. Kirin and the sale of New Belgium was its downfall. Thanks Kim.

Mike G.

Yelp
New Belgium Brewery is everything a brewery should be: great beer, friendly atmosphere, spacious beer garden, and whomever is selecting the playlist deserves a raise! I've always liked their beer but visiting 'the mothership' was a real treat.
google avatar

Chelsey A.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy on a pretty day! Lots of outdoor space and great for kids to run around. Beer selection is good. We were here on a day when a food truck was available so that was nice to be able to grab a bite. It was also very busy the day we went and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the lines moved while waiting for beer.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Highly recommend the paid tour. It's 90 minutes of great info, unlike most typical brewery tours. Very much worth the $10/person as you get samples along the way. Great beer and company.
google avatar

Doug C.

Yelp
Love this brewery! Got a free tour - they offer them regularly, there are also paid options which are longer but the free tour was awesome. Our tour guide was great, lots of tastings, even get to try to pour your own tasting! Never done that before - there's definitely an art to it. Love the history, their commitment to employees, and most of all their beer. They have a wide variety of delicious brews including hazy IPAs and strong about 10% beers. Was pretty cold but have been outside previously and it's a great spot. Can bring dogs inside and outside, which I love. Honestly this visit made me like their beer more than before. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town, I'll be back!
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
They have many different options for brewery tours, but we came here on a Sunday afternoon for the 90 minute brewery tour. We booked and paid for the $10 tickets online a few days in advance, so we just had to check in when we arrived. Our tour guide for the day was Victoria and she was absolutely fantastic. The tour was super informative, fun, and of course, we loved the beer we got to sample along the way. Also, don't forget to ride the slide at the end! Even after the tour, the campus is super fun with live music, lawn games, food trucks, and of course, beverages to drink! Recommend coming here either for a tour (they have free ones!) or to just enjoy the atmosphere and a cold drink!
google avatar

Yelp
This is the greatest brewery (in the US) that I have ever been to. Let me tell you why. Obviously, fantastic beer is a must. So the ability to get a glass of one of my all-time favorites (1554) straight from the tap was pure bliss for me. The selection is so diverse and has something for every beer drinker. I counted well over a dozen offerings, not to mention seasonal specials and their newer hard seltzers. This place also has the friendliest staff! From the check-in gals verifying ID to the woman behind the merchandise counter who hooked me up with some goodies when I was droppung coing for merch, and the guys pouring and delivering beer tableside (yes that happens here). The staff all knows how to make you feel welcome and appreciated. The brewery itself is huge and the tasting set up is terrific. It's majorly dog and bike friendly with a large grassy area that has several shaded tables and outdoor games like cornhole set up. Small tables for conversation or large community tables for groups- your choice. Taste inside, order tableside with a QR code link to their menu, or go to their outdoor Beerstream (an Airstream retrofitted to provide outdoor access to even more beer). Yes! On my visit they were playing a great mix of classic soul and Motown music and I thought I had died and gone to the Disneyland of Beer. Seriously, I could spend an entire day here enjoying myself. Don't miss this one if you're anywhere near Fort Collins!

Yelp
What a cool vibey place! We've all been to cool breweries but New Belgium really has it going on. We took the tour with Eric and I can see they hire the best of the best to represent. Tour was very informative and fun. Fresh beer off the line. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
New Belgium never gets old. With a huge outdoor space and some of the best beer in Colorado (and possibly the US?!), it's a must-stop while in Fort Collins. Since there is such a wide variety of good beer here, I highly recommend getting the tasters! They seem to be bigger than your average taster and they're reasonable at $2 - $2.50! I didn't realize how much beer I was going to get when I ordered these, but loved every beer I got so much that I was happy to have tried them all! After stopping here, you can easily walk into downtown for food or along the river for a nice stroll or bike ride. Obviously will be back every time I'm in Fort Collins!
google avatar

Zachary R.

Yelp
I attended a tour of the brewery today. Eric gave a great tour and left me with a lot of knowledge about the brewery's formation and I had a super fun time. I strongly recommend taking a tour here if you are interested in breweries and the process of making beer!

Yelp
Trippel Honey was too sweet almost. 1554 Dark Ale very good, smooth and great flavor. Summer Bliss special - great wheat beer. I'd love to see this one in the stores at home. Compares favorably to my hometown fav Raspberry Wheat from Broken Tooth. Fun random note, there was yoga going on in the park for free on Thursday.

Jocelyn E.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this place. My husband and I have been 2 times now when visiting FoCo from out of town and each time has been an unforgettably fun experience. Kate helped us out this past trip and she was the coolest. She made us feel so valued and we had a blast. Make sure you try their Dominga (mimosa sour) - it's our favorite and so refreshing on tap. Note to whoever works on distributing: Bring Dominga to San Antonio, TX! We can't buy it anywhere down here yet unfortunately and I think such a light and refreshing sour would do super well in this hot market! We'd recommend it to everyone. Heck, I would street team it for you lol
