New Buenos Aires Bakery & Cafe

Google
New Buenos Aires Bakery & Cafe is a must go. We stop by all the time for their pastries, empanadas, and coffee. Everything is fresh, tasty, and priced well. The server was kind and friendly, which made the visit even better. The only thing I wish is that they were more noticeable from the street. There’s no outdoor seating, so you kind of have to already know the place exists. Maybe that’s why there’s never a line. Honestly, a spot this good should be packed with people waiting. I highly recommend it.

Google
I placed an order of empanadas . I went to pick them up and brought them home. They were heated up at the place. They weren’t fresh what I believed they’re frozen and they’re defrosted to heated when you order them. They were so terrible I got sick . Please make sure they’re fresh. This people don’t care if you get sick. Very disappointed. I spent about 50 dollars waisted to the trash. I was really afraid to get sick. Very unresponsive people. They don’t care you get sick.🤢

Google
Excellent place. The Milanesa tasted very authentic.

Google
A must go! We come here all the time for pastries, empanadas and coffee. They are delicious. A place with good quality and price. They need more advertisement and be more noticeable from the street, because they dont have outdoor seating and you have to know that the place is there. I wonder if that's why there's never a line. A place like this should be packed all the time with people waiting. I am from Spain, we love pastries and "cafe con leche" and this is one is one of the best places. I highly recommend it!

Sandip H.

Google
This is nice Argentina place. I like it. I am going to go back again for the dessert and the empanadas.

Google
This place is adorable! It’s like a trip to Argentina! The pastries are amazing , cafe con leche perfect and yummy empanadas! Nice atmosphere and relaxing to work in for the after. 🙃

Google
Food was OK. A little bland. Prices were good. Location had a bunch of charm. I only tried the sausage sub, empanadas are likely good

Jorge V.

Google
Small bakery and restaurant. Great little place with a taste from home, Argentina. They offer food to go, to dine in and also to take some great facturas and pastries from argentina.

Yelp

Yelp
Freshly made, fast service, and nicely maintained. I've come to eat here before and the pasta and meat has a lot of flavor. Their chimichurri is one of the better ones I've had so far.

Yelp
The entrance to this place is not easily noticeable from outside if you don't know of its existence. The staff here is always pleasant and makes you feel comfortable right away. I used to order their tasty Choripan but have enjoyed other sandwich and pastry options they offer as well. Although there are seating options available, I rarely see anyone eating at the tables as people seem to prefer taking their food to go.

Yelp
Food awful and cold. Service was inattentive! You had to wait forever for two Simple sandwiches.

Yelp
The beef empanada + factura!! the people are very kind and patient even when I had trouble deciding what I wanted to eat. The vibe of the restaurant was very cozy and I'd like to go there to sit-down and eat!

Yelp
Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I stop by New Buenos Aires Bakery & Cafe. Immediately upon entering, one is greeted with a quaint and comforting neighborhood feel. This gem of a bakery and cafe offers a wide assortment of tasty pastries (facturas) and other exquisite baked goods (for example, vegetable, cheese, ham and meat empanadas). Every savory bite reminds me of my childhood in Argentina. (I grew up in Argentina and moved to Los Angeles with my parents and brothers at age 10.) This afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Marcelo. Marcelo took time from his busy day to chat with me. What a great guy! I left New Buenos Aires Bakery & Cafe much impressed with Marcelo, New Buenos Aires Bakery & Cafe and the friendly sales staff. I'm looking forward to trying the steak and chicken entrees, salads, pasta, pizza, sandwiches and much more. I highly recommend New Buenos Aires Bakery & Cafe without reservation.

Yelp
Their empanadas are GOOOOOOD! We had a very simple order... 4 chicken empanadas. I'm not kidding when I say I ate both of mine in maybe 2 minutes. I asked my wife if she was going to eat hers lol. It took everything inside of me not to turn around and get 20 more. THANK YOU! I'll be back... tomorrow.

Yelp
We stopped to grab a bite to eat at the New Buenos Aires Bakery and Cafe. We met the owner's son Gonzalo and he is a very personable young man. He told me that the bakery has been open for 10 years in this Burbank location, but the majority of their business is catering and as a bakery. They bake breads & such for the Gaucho Grill and several other restaurants. We ordered beef, chicken and spinach empanadas. Mom has never had Argentinian food that she knows of, so the seasonings were foreign to her. She found the taste of the beef. Empanada to be much more her liking than the others. Which makes sense since Argentina is known for their beef production. In Hawaii, eating canned corned beef is very common and most of it comes from Argentina. I ordered the sandwich with chorizo. It was Argentinian chorizo which is very similar to the Spanish and Portuguese chorizo that we eat in Hawaii. It's firm and in a sausage form not in the loose fatty form that the Mexican chorizo comes in. The bread was crispy and it had some chimichurri sauce and I doused it with even more sauce and enjoyed every bite. We washed it down with inca çola- my favorite Peruvian beverage. At the end of the meal, Gonzalo came to thank us for visiting and to see if there was anything else we needed. Several customers had come in and I was asking him what they were getting so he said pastry. This afternoon they had dulce de leche and custard. I told him that the custard sounded interested and I would order one after I finished packing up our leftovers. I was so surprised when he brought over two free custard pastries for us and he thanked us for coming by. How wonderful to be able to support small businesses that are doing their best to make it in a new country and in this economy. Kudos to this hard-working and sweet family.

Yelp
Food was mid very expensive for no reason if your looks to feed more then 2 people need more then 40$

Yelp
Hate giving bad scores to Ma and Pa places but yikes. The staff was nice but the empanadas were no where near fresh. Stale and bland and kinda gross. Like I couldn't choke them down. Couple bites and to the trash. The sandwiches were surprisingly terrible and bland too. Everything tasted a little spoiled tbh. Will 100000000% never go back. Saving grace was the kind cashier and selection of imported soda. The place was also deserted which should have been my first red flag.

Maria C.

Yelp
Friendly staff! Delicious cremona! All facture are good. I will be back. Recommended! Muy rica la cremona! Gracias por el buen servicio.

Yelp
I LOVE THEIR EMPANADAS! They don't skimp on the filling! They're also super cheap! My god. They offer beef, chicken, spinach and cheese, along with ham and cheese. Beef and chicken are my personal favorites! :) Their ribeye steak sandwich is also something to write home about. I could eat this every day and be happy as a clam! Their service is also really great. Everyone is very sweet and accommodating. Their food tastes fresh and they also make good espresso drinks. There is plenty of room to dine-in. Free parking directly in front of their building, too. Forget the McDonald's across the street, people! Please support this local small business! I want them to stay here forever! :)

Yelp
Wow! What a hidden treasure . Some of the most delicious pastries and food. A wide variety of choices for everyone. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I purchased a variety of pastries and they were all tasted fresh and most importantly delicious. When I am back in the neighborhood I will definitely make sure that I stop in for more delicious treats.

Yelp
So glad that I found this place. I've had empanadas from some of the more well known spots nearby, but the size and quality of these are so much better to me. I ordered 3 thinking they would be small like other places, but the empanadas here ate almost the size of my hand. The chicken was very well flavored. The spinach & cheese was perfectly balanced. The beef was delicious. I came during Covid so it was to-go. The chairs and tables were pushed to the side, but you can tell the vibe is cute in there. I will be back to try other pastries.
google avatar

Joseph K.

Yelp
Authentic Argentinian cafe on Verdugo offering empanadas and other traditional dishes. For those of you that don't know there are a substantial amount of Italian immigrants in Argentina explaining why pizza is also served here. Would definitely come back to try some other pastries and menu options.
google avatar

Ruth E.

Yelp
Love the empanadas! they are good size, their price is very reasonable. I'm looking forward to trying the milanesa sandwich on my next visits. The staff is very friendly...

Yelp

Yelp
3.5 Eclectic and cozy Argentinean restaurant, cafe, and bakery in Toluca Lake that sells empanadas a lil pricier than Portos, but cheaper than World Empanadas. But everything else is out of my price range (pastas, pizzas, and Argentinean entrees). Luckily I wasn't starving and was very satisfied with my single Beef Empanada that came out to $2.68 w/ tax. Quick Tips: -Don't think they have parking, but Street/Neighborhood parking in Toluca Lake/Burbank is so easy. -Unique chairs and tables inside. Four 2tops, three 6tops, three sorta-high tops, and a small 2top outside. -Order at the counter and they bring it to you. -CHEAP PIZZA SPECIAL -Empanadas are baked here Taste 4/5 Very hot. Thin, perfectly cooked crust. Ground beef, onions, a whole green olive, a sliver of hard boiled egg. Could have used more egg, but I loved it. Price 4/5 Great price for empanadas, especially for the quality. Service 3/5 This is where it lacked. Walked in and waited at the counter for a long while. Had to ask for chimichurri when my empanada came, but it was mostly all oil in the ramekin. Great option for empanadas if you don't want to wait at Portos.

Yelp
Amazing custard pastry, strong Americano & delicious empanada. Will be back again for larger plates.
google avatar

Ashley T.

Yelp
Underwhelming. They were out of chicken for the empanadas so I tried the beef and the spinach & cheese. The filling was decent but the dough was too chewy. I also got a dessert, don't know what they were called but it had Carmel in it and powder sugar on it and the wrapper was flaky, in a good way. I'd definitely get those again if I were to ever come back.

Yelp
The Workers are so sweet Great smiles Family owned Rent is High :( Please help this Struggling Family if you can During Covid I drive from Sun Valley to get goodies here:) Blessings Stay Safe

Yelp
Great empanadas and baked goods. The milanesas were delicious. Highly recommend for Argentinian food.
google avatar

Clara K.

Yelp
Small mom and pop place. They have sandwiches, dinner plates, and apparently pizza! And I think empanadas too although I didn't see any out (maybe they have them in the back or make them fresh to order?). They also have display cases with baked goods, including alfajores and a variety of other pastries. I tried a Milanesa sandwich (breaded steak with lettuce and tomato, $7.50) and it was pretty good, but needed more mayo. My Argentinian coworkers tried the choripan (chorizo sandwich with chimichurri sauce) and one of them said it was the best choripan he's had and wants to go back tomorrow! I got a huge alfajor cookie to go and it was only $1.50.
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
The food was very tasty we really enjoyed it and the coffee latte was very good as well. The choripan was definitely a must have. I'd never had this before but wow it was good!
google avatar

Marissa A.

Yelp
Great latte, great empanada! I ordered a spinach and feta cheese empanada...so yum. Casual, local place...great for a little quiet cup of coffee and conversation.
google avatar

Noel C.

Yelp
I know it's about the food, but I love the light fixtures and the decorative counters. The food is delectable. The empanadas and pastries complemented by a delicious cup of coffee were on point.
google avatar

Rob V.

Yelp
I can't believe the four stars rating, this place is awful. There is an urgent need of a complete remodeling, service is lacking and the food is below average. Never again.
google avatar

Susan J.

Yelp
Delicious empanadas and friendly service. We look forward to trying the pizza. The restaurant is not fancy but clean and cute.
google avatar

Marven F.

Yelp
Had milanesa sandwich and it was better than most but not as good as some like El Gaucho market.

Michelle E.

Yelp
Amazing taste I travel to North Hollywood area to get this stuff because I'm very specific but it's actually right in my neighborhood and it's my first time trying it and the flavor is amazing and the people were kind and generous and the pricing is just right
google avatar

Becky B.

Yelp
We heard that there was this place that offered Empanadas, something aside from World Empanadas. They are made fresh, cooked when ordered. They even branded their chicken ones with "ck". I preferred the beef to chicken, but both options are good. Big and flaky and fresh.
google avatar

Pamela A.

Yelp
Hidden local gem!! Please help support this local small shop during the pandemic. Amazing pastries!! The lady who works there is super sweet and had a little girl in the shop that was adorable. I am afraid I have a new addiction outside of Porto's Bakery.
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
Very authentic Argentine style empanadas and products, highly recommended!

Yelp
Stopped by after a long time here for a quick lunch with another guy... Had a Lomito [steak] sandwich, and the other guy a chicken milanesa [breaded] sandwich.. both were delicious, so were the empanadas and pastries [facturas] I took to go. Definitely some of the best in the Valley. If I lived closer, I would hit it more often.
google avatar

Diana P.

Yelp
Empanadas were definitely frozen and microwaved. The ketchup packets they gave me were super puffy so they were obviously expired.. 2 stars because the lady that works there was super nice but definitely won't be coming back.
google avatar

Carla S.

Yelp
Went for lunch. Completely empty. It was 105F and they were only running the fan. Ordering is easy (at register) but wait for the food was insanely long. At least 25 min with no other customers. Food was good & authentic but no A/C, no TVs, no customers, no updates from the server or apology for delay. I don't see them surviving. Most Argentine restaurants in The Valley are bumping but this was an empty space with tons of potential. Won't be going back :(
google avatar

Massiel R.

Yelp
I keep giving this place a try and they keep disappointing me. How do you not have empanadas in the morning? I can understand if you are out after a long busy day. But right when you open? So instead I just asked for a variety of their "pan dulce" because they had nothing out for me to choose from. As the girl went back to put it together I started looking through their displays of old dry pastries that was spilled over and covered by dirty glass. I got so grossed out that I just cancelled my order and drove to Portos Bakery. I understand if they have a few bad days but I consistently come in here and it's consistently bad. I'm not returning again.

Yelp
Visit this place! Seriously, no seriously, seriously come here and buy yourself food and a drink, and enjoy! My first visit was earlier today and I couldn't believe how flippin' fantastic it was. I rarely drink coffee, and when I do it's never hot, but I drank a whole cup of hot coffee here, that's how great the taste of it was. I purchased a little sweet croissant, tasted it and got weak in the knees. Then I took a bite of the pastry with peaches and then the other one with quince. And I mean a bite, because if I hadn't just taken one bite of each and turned away, I would've wanted to devour both, and I could've too. Truly an exercise in self-control. The prices were excellent for the pastries, only 80 cents each! Although I didn't try any of the plates the menu looked good and the prices looked decent for them. Other pluses: Friendly staff, easy parking, adorable and well designed on the inside with plenty of space, and it's not crowded! I love all the bakeries I've posted reviews for, but this one has been my favorite so far. A true hidden gem in the city of Burbank.

Yelp
Oh, my goodness - this is the third Argentinean place I am eating out at in LA and to me it is the most authentic, cozy and just... Argentinean, lo juro! It is absolutey casual, free of any pretense but filled with wonderful atmosphere, actual argentineans cooking and socializing with you. It's very low-key and the prices are very wallet-friendly, BUT - the food, especially the specialty - baked goods, pastries - impeccably delicious. Simple yet... home-made - that's what comes to mind, it feels like you are at someone's place, visiting and the hosts are treating you to their signature family dishes - that is precisely what it felt like all the three times I've been there. Empanadas are marvelous - their signature - recommend. Steaks can be better (and they are in other Argentinean places in town) but for the price - I'd say - good enough. Desserts are a must-try! Plenty of them, and the prices allow to get many. I like the mate cocido they serve and - well, I just like this place. Feels very canteen-like, but - I enjoy that for a change in a town of make-believe where too many things are larger than life. Argentinean music played quietly on TV, friendly faces, good food - I am sold. As a huge fan of Argentina - its culture, and yes, its cuisine I recommend this place for everyone who is in for a good meal, not for a status siting. Maravilloso!

Yelp
A little lunch date with my wife. Empanada's were good. Nice location and reminds me of my time in Belgrano.

Yelp
Hey internet, let's get this place some customers! Or at least customers for when they reopen, because apparently they are currently closed for renovations. I wandered in here while waiting for my laundry (a couple doors down) and instantly fell in love. I'd been in when it was Pietro's and was curious to see this locale's latest incarnation. The shelves of pastries made my mouth water bit out was closer to lunch time, so I ordered a trio of empanadas: beef, chicken and spinach. My favorites ware the beef and spinach lots of flavor and great texture, the chicken was...chicken I suppose. The pastry on all three was great. I eagerly await the opportunity to revisit and try one of their breakfast pastry specials!

Yelp
Just dropped in to check it out. Picked up some empanadas for lunch. Everything looked good, but unfortunately, this is a cursed location. Many restaurants have come and gone in this same location that has no parking and no foot traffic (other than high school students who prefer McDonalds across the street). That said, I really hope they do well. Had the beef empanada for lunch. They are big, but not much else I can say possitive about it. Much prefer the Porto's version and it's not that much further to drive to. Credit cards are accepted using an iPhone App.

Yelp
Every trip to California this is a sure stop reminds me of Argentina live the decor ... food is delicious, pastries are incredible and we bring things back to LV. The owners Marcelo and his wife are friendly and the customer service is TOP GRACIAS
google avatar

Haydee T.

Yelp
My husband brought me the empanadas for lunch at work so I did not go to the restaurant but not sure if I would anyway. Alot of meat in the empanadas the beef was really tasty more like aunties house not from mama's cooking. the chicken not to my taste but wasn't un-edible but I did not finish it either . the pastry on the empanadas a little thick but they did have a lot of meat taste for yourself I prefer more Cuban Puerto Rican Jamaican empanada not sure if I would go to the restaurant again maybe to try something else again the food not bad but not a craving.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
I work nearby and am so surprised never to have been here before! It's a little hard to find from the main drag but well worth a visit. We had delicious beef empanadas, overstuffed with mince meat, olives and egg in a perfect buttery crust. Also tried one of their breaded steak sandwiches, which was delicious and very large/filling for the price. Only drawback is that they don't have a customer bathroom, but prices are cheap, service is great, and the food tastes awesome. This is the kind of super cool independent store worth protecting and making successful for the neighborhood.

Yelp
We live in Burbank but, finally had a chance to eat at this place. It saddens me that our experience was so-so since we like to support mom & pop establishments. As others have noted, the service was nothing to rave about and some tables were not cleaned even though the place was empty. The food was underwhelming! We tried the chicken & spinach/cheese empanadas and the Milanesa sandwiches. The food was bland. Not bad but certainly not yummy. Even the chimichurri was not tasty. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. Lala's in Studio City is so much better.
