Google
Hole in the wall chinese roast/bbq that has been around for almost 30 years! By far, my #1 place for ROAST DUCK. It's plumped, juicy, tender, savory and sweet...sooo delicious. It comes with the duck dripping sauce that you dip it with. If you want just more than duck, they have steamed chicken, roast pork, and other bbq proteins. Also, they do have baguettes and woven vermicelli noodles (aka Banh Hỏi) (which I completely recommend to eat the duck with) are side "carbs" you can purchase separately. I give it 4 stars because it's cash only, which is a bit inconvenient, the place is outdated/old, and I believe you can't dine in there anymore. It's more to-go.

Google
Came to buy some crispy pork. I politely asked people overthere I would like to buy 1lbs and can they pick me the portion with a little bit mixed between meat and fat. The cashier nicely repeat that to the chef but he clearly didn't give a damn about it. It was my bad for trusting them and not check before leaving. Turn out after hearing my request, he gave me a big chunk of dry white meat portion and other was all boned. And they cut it too thick. Quality of course have been going down drastically with bbq crispy pork. They might be one of the best but that was 10 years ago. With nowadays competition, they definitely felt of the cliff. Not recommended

Google
They have traditional chinese BBQ such as thr famous roast duck, chir siu chinese bbq pork, whole roasted pork or lechon but chinese style. I like this because the ducks are not too salty like most places. Duck cost $21 for a whole duck.

Google
I am not typically inclined to write reviews, however, I feel compelled to share my recent experience at this establishment due to the exceptionally poor quality of service and food. It appears that there has been a significant decline in both areas. I placed an order for roasted duck, which was unfortunately burnt and had an unpleasant odor when I arrived home. This was particularly disappointing considering the cost of the dish. It is unacceptable to serve customers food that is of such poor quality, especially when they have worked hard to earn the money to pay for it. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment and recommend seeking alternative options. I would only suggest visiting if you are willing to accept poor treatment and the possibility of being served old or burnt meat. In summary, I would not recommend this establishment and would not return myself.

Google
Best Roast Pork in the South Bay! Best BBQ. Best roast duck!

Google
This store is expert of Chinese BBQ for a long time. Roast ducks and piglets are the best among San Jose BBQ stores. Squid is tasty too. I will go back here for sure. I hope the store can look a little bit clean and neat. It will definitely attract more customers.

Tâm L.

Google
The service is bad, the 2nd butcher talked bad about the customer right in front of her just because he said she did not know the language. When I confronted him, he became hostile and tried to stuff old meat to my portion. Would not recommend. I’d stick with the 1st butcher in the front - he’s nice and kind.

Google
Pre-pandemic: always a long line with a bunch of OG grandparents picking up delicious meats for their parties/gatherings. COVID SAFETY: signs at the door to state only 3 customers in the shop at a time (in english, viet & chinese), butchers wears masks correctly. Cash only chinese bbq that's been serving deliciousness for over 20yrs. I grew up in the hood in southeast SJ and its an establishment for peking duck. Great prices, most items are by the lbs but roast duck has to be purchased whole (~$22). Lots of traditional options: roasted pork belly, soy sauce chicken, char siu pork, calamari and some other delicacy is asian-american can do longer eat as an adult (it's sad, I know). EXPERT TIP: pick up some peking duck, walk next door to the supermarket and grab steam buns in the freezer, hoisin sauce & scallions to give yourself the full peking duck experience at home. ENJOY!

Yelp
My family had been coming here for decades until their quality went down. Now that they're under new management, they're back to their former glory. They were the spot Chinese BBQ back in the day. I've only had the Roasted Duck here and it was tender and didn't try out. 10/10

Yelp
New China Station has been around for awhile. It is located right next to Lion Market. It's usually crowded and popular. BBQ Pork - simple syrup or a honey glazed to the pork. It's flavorful and juicy. Roast Pork - crispy skin and tender meat. Well, depending on what part you get. I'd come again! I'd like to try their roast duck next.

Yelp
30+ years at this location. 27$ per roast duck as of 2/2024. Nobody else below 30$ in 2024. Higher volume than any 99 ranch or any other bbq restaurant outside of sf or oakland chinatown. Haven't found anything more consistent with high volume. Restaurant prices 30-80$ but some include other extras like customized hoisin dipping sauces or buns. Char siu (Xa Xiu) 14.50/lb but was on sale at 9.99/lb with yellow sign near the entrance. Dry. Not worth it; better to make your own. Zero fat in it. In the old days they used pork belly but they can't do that because of cost. They use some cut of pork shoulder or pork butt and mechanically slice it. In the old days there is one part of the pork butt they specifically use for char siu; today they slice the entire cut regardless of where the muscles are. Better to learn to make your own. Haven't found any place in south bay where it is worth buying char siu anymore. Lucas explains at 7.50 the right fatty cut to use for char siu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkYA_RxuLBw They have enough volume where you don't get 2day old product. Cash only. Limited english. Highest volume bbq in south bay. Many customers from Cupertino, Sunnyvale area

Yelp
They did not have the sea salt steam chicken as they advertised on the counter. I heard they have new ownership so the BBQ is not the same as before.

Yelp
No frills Chinese barbecue store beside Lions. They do not have seats for you to eat. Basically, when you come in, place your order, they chopped it up and you move down the line and pay. Oh, they only take cash. Not sure why others rated it low. There is no ambiance and chairs are stacked to the side. I ordered a pound of barbecue pork and whole roasted duck. The barbecue pork was delicious esp the charred areas. I wish it had a little more fat. The roast ducky was fatty, tender and delicious. Just the way I like it. I'll have to try their roast pork next time! Will be back!

Samiana L.

Yelp
Tried finding this place --- only works if you use the street address. Don't use the name because it doesn't work. Last minute order of whole roast pig to be picked up in two days was not a problem. They accommodated us with this order without a problem. Whole pig to feed 100 people. They accept cash only.
google avatar

Yelp
Always the go to place for Roasted Duck or Pig. My family has been coming here for over 30 years and I will probably continue to go myself.
google avatar

Minu N.

Yelp
No they are not closed despite some Yelp reviews. We picked up roasted ducks from them just couple of days ago. The sign probably got damaged and was removed. The ducks were flavorful however I don't think they are Peking Duck as it lacks the "peking" strong flavor. Price is on point! Quick pickup, cash only, and they actually opened at 10:30am when we got there.
google avatar

Julienne P.

Yelp
Ordered their smallest bbq pig and it had a lot of meat. Not too much fat at all. The skin was crispy and crunchy and they pre-cut by request with an additional fee. They rearrange it so that it looks like a whole pig which is aesthetically pleasing. It did have a lot of little bones bits probably due to the bite size cuts. Typically, the 99 Ranch people cut a bit larger but this place cuts a bit smaller. Everyone thought it was very tasty!

Yelp
This place is nothing but bad news! The quality of the food is below average and customer service is nonexistent. Dirty place stay away!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem, hole in the wall, mom and pop shop! This is located to the right of Lion Supermarket in the Lion Plaza. My family have been coming here for a couple decades now and continue to come here for their deli meats. This is the place to go to pick up roasted pork, roasted duck, bbq pork, chicken, and more! Came here on Saturday morning to pick up a whole roasted duck and a couple of roasted pig feet for early Lunar New Year dinner - Yelp says they open at 11am, but there was a line earlier than 10:30am already! In my opinion, they have the best deli meats in San Jose, hands down. They have perfected the marination flavor for the meats and it's always so flavorful and tender. Service is quick. Quality of their food is great. Prices are slightly higher than other places but you get what you pay for. For a whole roasted duck and 2 roasted pig feet, it came out to $32.

Yelp
Sad day. New China Station is now closed. Been coming here for years. Their BBQ was best in the bay.
google avatar

Matt V.

Yelp
Definitely go early. You get fresher meat before noon. Always crispy and juicy, never dried. Their duck is very good and their pork is one of the best in San Jose for roasted pork at a Chinese bbq place.

T L.

Yelp
Negative stars if possible. I've been a regular at New China Station but today will be my last visit. I asked if I could get a specific piece of BBQ roast pork and instead of accommodating the request by going to the back to get the piece as the butcher should since that's good customer service... the staff refused and told me to move over so they'd serve someone else instead since I don't want that piece next to what I asked for and looked hella dry. I was honestly shocked by the lack of effort or basic customer service. It's disappointing when a place can't even make any effort for a loyal customer or any customer for that matter. After this experience, I'll be finding somewhere else to buy. BTW, the owner changed so the quality isn't the same as before.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious. It was no frills and pick up only. Service was straight forward.. duck and roast pork and pig ears. I'm sad it's closed.

Yelp
They have roast duck and pork and soy sauce chickens I think they're number one in San Jose fair price and quick. I bought from them many times a month the only thing is they take cash only

Yelp
I bought some roasted porks & roasted duck here last Thursday evening. While the meat are much less salty compared to the past, which I prefer, the flavor is lacking, much less. I guess they marinated with less ingredients, hence the lacking flavor. The meats still taste like roasted pork & duck, but they don't have a rich aroma like in the past, yet the price had increased. The last time I bought fr. them, the roasted pork was around $14/lb. Now, it's increased another dollar. In addition, I find the meats are old & dry, especially the roasted duck. Perhaps , due to I bought them toward the end of the week. I guess only weekend is when they have freshly roasted porks/ducks. I've always been buying during weekends, but last week, I was craving for them & wanted to get them right away. Should have waited.

Yelp
Very decent Chinese bbq. Take out only and no dine in. This is a hole the wall place probably you'll notice when you come by to buy some groceries. Typical you probably don't wanna eat here or see the kitchen place. The food is surprisingly decent. I always come here when I see my dentist at this area. I usually order: Char-siu, flavor is on point. Not overly sweet or salty, what I like about it is that it has a little charred flavor other's don't have. The char-siu here is very lean though. Some might like it, others might find it not tender enough. Roast duck. Also above average. Slightly crispy skin and well flavored duck meat, with minimal unpleasant taste from the duck. It's still tasty when it's gone cold. But, sometimes you get a uneven piece where it's burnt. BBQ wings: Sweet, honey glazed wings which I like a lot, meat is tender and juicy, the wing is also decent sized too. Intestines: No bad odor, which means well cleaned. Good marinated flavor. Overall, decent place if you're nearby

Yelp
When it came down to ordering a whole roasted pig for an event, New China Station BBQ was the only place that came to mind. My guy and I arrived 3 days prior to our event and was approached by the lady owner. She immediately went over the cost difference and the sizes of each offering. She recommended for us to purchase a medium whole pig but being the overachievers that's we are, we went for the LARGE. Customer service was great during this visit and the entire process was very quick. A deposit is mandatory on big purchases so come prepared. Pick up was an absolute breeze and the large was definitely overkill for our 80+ guests but the more the merrier right?? 5/5 stars, everyone raves about how delicious it was but I already knew that was gonna be the case. Highly recommended.

Yelp
HIDDEN GEM. Literally, a hidden gem. On the maps, it shows this spot to be inside lion supermarket but it is not. This spot is located right next to the right entrance of lion supermarket! It is CASH ONLY. What I love about this spot so far - THE DUCK IS GOOD! Super duper good. The price is reasonable! It was only $11.50 for half a duck! That's cheap for San Jose! Last time I paid close to $15 for half a duck in SJ. Last but not least, they have a lot of duck. Which means this must be what they're known for. They also have roasted crispy pork - which is what I'll come try next time. Please stop by and help them out by ordering their food! I'm pretty sure COVID is taking a toll on a lot of restaurants right now. Plus ample parking! :D Note** I forgot to take a picture of the duck because I was starving lol
google avatar

Yelp
This is where I got my whole pig for my Dam Hoi/Vietnamese Engagement Party. The pig was about $260 and then you have to buy some bread. The pig was about 20ish pounds I believe? It was enough to feed 80 people. People were raving about the roasted pig. The white guests at my engagement party really loved it. The skin was nicely crispy. Pork nicely cooked and flavorful. It was the hit of the party! Note: CASH only. And order before hand for the roasted pig- at least
google avatar

Tony B.

Yelp
Stopped buy on a Saturday and picked up a whole duck and a pound of roasted pork. Both were tender with just the right amount of seasoning and not too salty. Restaurant is very clean and the workers very efficient. They also have whole roasted chicken.
google avatar

Otto L.

Yelp
Definitely not in and out kinda BBQ places on weekends. Expect 20 to 30 min on weekend mornings. They seem to have a lot of roast ducks hanging, and almost everyone in front of us was getting half or whole duck. Maybe I'll try that next time. This review is for the soy sauce chicken that I bought. For chickens, 99 Ranch on Hostetter has them way better!
google avatar

Yelp
Only the best in SJ. Yum! Well worth the drive from anywhere in the South Bay ! Just do it !

Yelp

google avatar

Sonya E.

Yelp
This place has been here for at least two decades. Their menu offers BBQ Peking Roasted Duck, Soy Sauce Chicken, Pork Intestines, BBQ Roast Pork, Marinated Chicken Feet -- all prepared with their super secret signature house Chinese BBQ recipe. The roasting is done in-house and if you pay close attention while you're paying at the register, you can see the big bad equipment running the show in the kitchen. The cashier is always the same lady who rarely smiles and says no other words outside of giving you what your end price is for the purchase. No small talk at all. Ideally, you would pick something up from here if you're feeding a family or large group. The rating is attributed to the consistency of taste and quality of their Chinese BBQ menu. Although, take note that it is a hole-in-the-wall type of joint.
google avatar

Chef T.

Yelp
Decent bbq lunch with roast pork and duck. The pork was tastier than the duck, rice was a bit over cooked. The pork wasn't as tender as other places, and they don't have veggies for the rice combos. Small shop with cash only. Pork intestines were actually better than I expected but the flavor was still subtle.
google avatar

Lim L.

Yelp
A small yet hardly obscure Chinese BBQ place next to Lion Supermarket. We fortuitously arrived at a lull, with a long line extending out the door a few minutes later. Simple, straightforward business of ordering: Told them we want a whole roast duck, handed over cash, and walked out with the food. No small talk, no fuss, and no problem. The small physical space made social distancing between customers a challenge though. The roast duck tasted delicious and filling. Nice and crispy.

Kitby T.

Yelp
This place is still open because my mom friend who went there today to get my some roast pig
google avatar

Manda Bear B.

Yelp
Solid roasted pork, bbq pork, roasted duck, but the place is run down and surely need a facelift, and a bit of deep cleaning! But I think this is why people like to come here! Holes on the wall kind of place! $13 roasted pork, $22 for roasted duck. CASH only! What service? You get what you and get out! To order the whole roasted pig, only 4 days in advance which is awesome.
google avatar

Gina -.

Yelp
Best Peking duck in San Jose and good value. $22.99 for whole duck, cash only. Plenty of meat and good to serve 3-4 people. Duck isn't always served fresh (this time was a little cold) but if you catch them right before lunch or late afternoon you won't be disappointed!

Hallie W.

Yelp
My family liked eating the roast pork they sell here for many years. The lady who picked up the phone and took my mom's order this morning has terrible customer service. She lied about having 2 lbs of a certain part of the roast pork. We live 20 minutes away. My mom said she would come immediately to come pick up her order. When she got there, her order wasn't even ready. The butchers said they didn't have any more of the part of the roast pork she wanted. My mom was really upset, and the lady who took her order where she would usually stand wasn't there and most likely hid in the kitchen. Seriously, if you don't have that cut of pork anymore, just be honest that you don't have it and don't waste other people's time and energy. Service is getting more downhill.
google avatar

My N.

Yelp
Being coming to this Chinese bbq station all my life. My latest visit was to order a whole pig for my engagement party. Not going to lie it definitely was a little hard to place an order on the phone, due to the language barrier. You have to place the order in person and give a $100 deposit. I ordered the small pig and it was $280. The taste of the pig was delicious!! I will definitely be coming back to order another in the future. I had about 15-18 ppl at my party and i didn't have a whole lot of leftovers but enough for a couple of lunches the next 3 days.
google avatar

Sherry C.

Yelp
Bar none this is the best place for roast duck and roast pig. Whole roasted pigs can be ordered and come in 3 sizes. Other meats were also great but my goodness their duck is just ultra juicy and flavorful with thin crispy skin and succulent meat. Always a queue every time I come here so expect some wait time. The men behind the counter who chop up the meats were very professional and efficient. Cash-only and they are definitely not hurting either.
google avatar

Caitlin L.

Yelp
I had a great experience here! My Vietnamese isn't the greatest & there was definitely a language barrier but I'm super happy with the service I received. Took a while for them to figure out what I wanted as my Vietnamese again, isn't the best. Pointed at the duck & they proceeded to chop it for me. $23 for a full duck which is a great price & I'd happily come here again as it's my grandpas favorite! Kind of hard to find, it's right next to Lion Supermarket. Cash only. I'm even more happy with the service I received here, I had somehow spilled chocolate on myself & they guided me to the back to wash my hands haha. Duck tasted delicious! Skin was crispy as ever, & the meat itself was super tender & juicy. Would definitely come back again!
google avatar

Carrie N.

Yelp
- - Cash Only - - Came in here today to get my whole roasted duck and it was delicious! Juicy and tender with the amount of its flavors coming out as you bite into them! When ordering they also give you a small cup of soy sauce. There was no line today when I arrive, so it was an easy come and go. Meaning, I went inside to order what I wanted and while I waited for my roasted duck to be cut into smaller pieces for me; I had the chance to browse a few other selections as well. Varies from roasted duck, pork innards, roast pork, and other items. Would definitely come back to try the roasted pork since I didn't get the chance to! A lot of reviews were mentioning that the lady was "rude" or "disrespectful", but for some oddly reasons she was a sweet heart to me. She was talking to me, smiling and just seemed like she was in a good mood. Suppose she had a change of heart or she just won the lottery of some sort! Would've been 5 stars for me, but there was a herd of flies flying around the not near the food area, but where the tables were seated from across. I don't like insects or anything for that matter, so meh.

Yelp
I love New China Station BBQ Restaurant for two reasons- delicious food and decent customer service. This place is forever recommended whenever whole roasted pig, duck, or chicken is needed. The pricing can be at a higher amount than other places but I am a fan through and through. Trust in the constant lines that continue to build as you wait for your turn with the butcher. This business wouldn't be booming if it wasn't good.
google avatar

Kwai L.

Yelp
To start off, I'm Cantonese and in the South Bay, it's really difficult to find a good Chinese BBQ place for roast duck, soy sauce chicken, and roast pork. If you're fortunate enough to live in SF, give Ming Kee a try. They're about as good as it gets. New China Station is by far the best one I've found in the South Bay. I bought a whole roasted duck which costs $21.00. Cash only. It was done properly and it came with 1 little cup of soy sauce. You can ask for the plum sauce too but I found it a little too watery for my taste. Many people complained about having to pay for additional sauce. Don't, if you want it, just pay for it. I think it's fair. Now... to everyone who gave this place a negative review... I think there's a huge discrepancy between what the restaurant is and what you want it to be. What it is: 1. It's a take out Chinese BBQ. 2. It's been there for over 30 years. They have been doing this for longer than most of us. 3. You're not going to change the way they run their business. 4. Their BBQ is excellent but because of the way they do business (you can call it old-school), don't expect to be "served". You basically order, pay, go home and enjoy your food. That's it and nothing more. Some negatives that are valid: 1. They don't speak in English very often. I think they can but it's not what they're comfortable with. 2. There's very little in terms of customizing your order. You buy what's on their menu. 3. The menu is written in Chinese and Vietnamese. This makes things difficult if you want to try something different. I speak a little but can't read. So I just point and ask.
google avatar

Yelp
I spent $240 dollars on the roasted pig for it to be super burnt. They hid the burnt skin underneath the unburnt parts to cover it. This is dishonest and shady. I do not recommend this place for food.

Yelp
I've been getting roast ducks here for years but the one I got yesterday ($27) was tasteless. I was very disappointed. It didn't even seem to have any salt, the most basic of flavoring, not to mention any other spices you'd expect from a Chinese roast duck. The workers there aren't the same people that used to work here, so I wonder if there is a new owner.
google avatar

Mike Z.

Yelp
Note that this is for pick up only and not a restaurant. Almost any place in Oakland Chinatown is much better. Had the duck, roast pork and bbq pork. Nothing exceptional. Actually I think the deli at 99 Ranch is even better.
google avatar

Jimmy L.

Yelp
Roasted pig taste good but the skin was so hard, not crunchy. Totally inedible. We order a whole pig here for an event before and it was burned. Would not recommend this place.

Dao Dang K.

Yelp
If I can give this place 0 star I would If you value your health and your family health do not I REAPEAT DO NOT buy anything from this place. This had happen to our family twice. The first time ( January, 2023) we order from this place ( roasted duck) most of our family member got food poisoning and one of the little kids have to visit the emergency room because how bad the food poisoning was .Second time we order from this place (August 2023) we decide to give it another try figure it might just be a bad duck. But no we are wrong for choosing this place again. We order the roasted duck again this time and when we open we was surprise because two flies was included both alive and crawling on the duck. When remove all the duck out we find 3 more dead flies. In total of 5 flies was in our roasted duck. We have to throw the entire thing away due to not knowing how long the flies was in there. Additionally if it save for us to consume especially when there elder family member and younger kids. So me and my family personally would never go back to this place . And I recommended you to do the same. How could they be so careless when it come to food. We had make multiple report for inspection.
google avatar

Christopher W.

Yelp
The BBQ here is great; I would just say buyer beware. I ordered the largest pig for for Thanksgiving at $270. We came to pick up the pig and realized after we go home that the pig was cooked the day before and re-heated. They also left out the front 2 feet. The situation was eventually settled, but we didn't get the pig size we originally ordered and we live over an hour away. We were not offered anything in return for the additional 2 hour drive and at first they tried to convince us it was a freshly roasted pig. I would have given them the benefit of the doubt, but when the chef started trying to convince us it was fresh; this review instantly turned into a 1 star review. I see that as dishonest business. My family regularly orders pigs for events so my parents usually see about 100 roasted pigs a year; just to give a frame of reference.

Excellent Chinese BBQ spot. Staff could be friendlier but the food is excellent. Everything is top quality.

Yelp
Came by for a 1/2 Roast Duck the other day and it was great! At $9.75 for half a duck, the duck was flavorful, meaty and juicy by the time dinner was served! They also packed a small container of sauce to complement the duck! Service was okay by the staff and was no frills. Cash only! :)

Yelp
Mama and auntie likes the roast duck and pork here. Staff speaks both Vietnamese and Chinese. Service is pretty quick and abrupt, but if you don't know the cultures you may see it as rude. Next to Lion Market. Cash only! We order here all the time. We got the BBQ pork (cha xiu) and roast duck ($8.75/lb). Greasy and oily. Crunchy and yummy. If left out for a while, meats get dry and not good. Best when hot...
